Tallulahs is hands down the bet meal you are going to find for under 10 bucks. I can honestly say its the best kept secret in nola for food. Everything is made from scratch and with the large portions and the complexity of the flavors, it’s hard for me to imagine how they can sell it that cheap. I go there 2 – 3 times a week to cure a hangover, feed my construction crew, or just get the satisfaction of eating deliciously prepared food that isn’t fried or too heavy. I really can’t recommend them enough.

I first learned about Tallulah’s on less than a week ago and it quickly made itself into my bookmarks as a new spot to try out. Rarely having this opportunity, I’m excited to write their first review. I had a little difficulty finding the place at first because I’m looking for a sign that says Tallulah’s on a building, but do note it’s inside of the Lava Supermarket on Broad. Tallulah’s is cash only, but there is an ATM in the store and also a Chase bank across the street if you wanna save yourself an ATM fee. Place your order at the back counter, and give em five to seven minutes, and you’ll be presented with a plate of food that will certainly have you salivating. The smell upon walking towards the back of the store; you can pretty much smell the freshness in the ingredients. Everything is made from scratch, and specials change weekly. I went with one of the weekly specials. Pork meat over lemongrass rice, red fresno with this green mixture of a scallion, cilantro, ginger blend to garnish the meal: effing amazingness! I almost dribbled a little bit in the car ride back home. The aroma had me in a trans. I got home and savaged that plate like I had never eaten a day in my life. I don’t venture down this part of Broad much, but i’ve stumbled upon such a hidden gem today, I feel this neighborhood will be seeing me quite often. Can’t wait to go back and try EVERYTHING! Nicely done, guys!
