My friend Amanda(see her review) was hell bent that we had to come and see Chef Scott and try his food. So we walked from our guest house in the Quarter and it was a perfectly safe walk. I am so glad we did, it was some of the tastiest food we had in our 10 days in NOLA! It’s not a fancy place and the food is served in to-go boxes still — but the flavors were fantastic. His special citrus sweet tea was fantastic– a nice orange flavor without being overwhelming sweet. I can be a bit challenging on menus due to food allergies and preferences. However, Chef Scott was very accommodating and offered to make me a portobello mushroom pasta dish. The flavors were complex and it was beautifully seasoned. His desserts were extraordinary, particularly the bread pudding. I mean wow, I am still fantasizing about it a month later! It was positively decadent and the best I’ve ever had. Chef Scott is very personable and friendly — he made us feel welcomed and comfortable. They’re still getting settled into the place — which is by no means fancy. I hope eventually they will have plates vs. to go boxes. I’d have no hesitation recommending them, but since they’re fairly new it might be best to call and make sure they’re open. It feels good to support a younger chef who is just branching out on his own in this small neighborhood location.

My vacation ended a month ago, but I am still talking about NOLA Foods! Before we left, we managed to make it back for lunch, and oh my, it was so worth it. I had the jerk chicken with rice and beans, and my friend had the special pasta with portabellos. We both had the sweet tea. And of course, the ooey gooey cake and bread pudding. Yup. Just about every bite of lunch and dessert was followed by eyes rolling back in our heads, and«oh my god“s escaping our mouths(in between the mouth-gasms, of course). The sweet tea was so good I had three glasses of it(and then had to use the facilities, which were super clean, but the toilet is on a stage. Yes, a stage. Leftovers from previous owners, but um, have you ever peed on stage? On purpose? It’s kinda weird). Back to the food. So good. Go eat here. Do it. And then tell all your friends to do it too.
