When I asked my Über driver for crawfish recommendation, she suggested this place. Can’t go wrong with what locals suggested, right? Yep, like she warned, the crawfish is spicy here but she forgot to mention that one pound is also only $ 5 too! Spicy delicious crawfish at a cheap price is exactly what makes a good crawfish joint in my opinion and Cajun Seafood is it. Plus, the restaurant got plenty of tables so you can leave the mess here! If you are looking for good crawfish in NOLA, look no further! Cajun Seafood got other seafood options(boiled and fried) and even Chinese food, but let’s be real here: are you seriously going to have any room for anything other than $ 5/lb of crawfish?

All you need to know: 1) there’s like 3 different kinds of lines in this place so look up at the signs and get in the proper line, jackass. 2) you can buy a box of apple jacks and giant bottle of vodka here. 3) don’t get the gumbo, served too damn hot as to cover up its flavorlessness. 4) get the seafood platter and crab legs, they ran out of cocktail sauce and didn’t have any of that chinese mustard that would’ve gone great with the side of shrimp fried rice they give with the platter. 5) my friend was too stoned and in lieu of cocktail sauce dipped his fried sea food into the small plastic containers of butter given with the crab legs. He also drank a big ass buesh beer that he bought there. I think he’s dead now. don’t do that either.

Best. Meal. Of. The. Trip. I came to Cajun seafood on the recommendation of my workmate and I never want to leave. Snow crab legs, crawfish, corn, smoked sausage… a sumptuous spread all for $ 28!!!

Stick to the boiled seafood line! Crawfish, and crab was off the hook! I also had a turkey neck that was really good! 4.5 stars!

We ordered 2 lbs of crawfish, a turkey neck, corn, potatoes, and a sausage all for about $ 20. The food was fantastic and that amount of food was plenty to stuff 2 people! The crawfish were a little smaller than I’ve had in the past but for 5.99/lb boiled for you with the perfect amount of seasoning, it can’t be beat. Really great food, will be back again

This is pretty different from any of the crawfish joints in the Dallas area where I’m from. In Dallas, you pick your flavors & level of heat, they boil, then toss the seafood in a thick, spicy, garlic butter sauce. At Cajun Seafood, it’s all about the boil that perfectly flavors the seafood. No picking flavors or level of heat so you just pick your seafood, it’s already boiled & sitting behind the counter ready to be packed. Crawfish is kept hot in a cooler. Shrimp, snow crab & Dungeness crab legs are kept warm in boil liquid. Blue crabs are kept separate on a table and sold by size. There are a slew of random sides that include seafood boil items like potatoes, corn, sausage, turkey neck & pigs feet. Also Asian theme items like shrimp fried rice, shrimp Lo mein, Asian hot wings, stir fry, egg rolls, penne pasta??? All seemed to be popular items. They also do fried seafood platters, poboys, burgers, meat pies, fried chicken & turkey wings. What I thought was random was that they even sell fresh seafood like whole shrimp, catfish & tilapia filets, and I think I saw a cooler with packed crab meat. They have drinks in coolers like a convenience store. Displayed on the back wall are cereal boxes from my childhood like Corn Pops, Apple Jacks & Fruit Loops, sitting next to a selection of liquor bottles. We’ve had their boiled crawfish, shrimp & blue crabs. I loved the crawfish & blue crabs! Full of eggs & delicious head«goop.» The shrimp were good but I found them overcooked from sitting in the boiling liquid. Of the sides, we’ve had the sausage, turkey neck, pigs feet & shrimp fried rice. All good. I don’t even like pigs feet because of the texture but this was really flavorful. We’ve ordered the meat pie twice — it was fresh the first time and not fresh the 2nd time, but still tasted good. The house sampler of fried seafood was way too much food but all items were good — breading on catfish was light, oysters were tasty, shrimp was crunchy, softshell crab was delicious. My brother did say the breading could’ve used a little more salt but I liked it. We have ordered from this joint 3x out of the 5 days in town, if that says anything! The cab drivers and my uncle all said this place is not in the safest area of town but the food is legit. So glad we found this place since we stopped and asked 3 places in the quarter and NONE had fresh crawfish. Cajun Seafood is the truth! so good. Will definitely come back next time we are in town.

Had some crawfish here today and it was better than I expected. I wouldn’t say that it blew my socks off but it was pretty good. The crawfish could have been seasoned more for my liking. I personally like my crawfish to have some more heat to it than these crawfish. I’ve driven by Cajun’s many times and I’ve seen the line out the door before. Today the line wasn’t too bad today, a Sunday afternoon, took us just a few minutes to get to the front of the line. And within 5 minutes I had my crawfish and I was sitting down eating. The line had grown to the door by the time I finished eating. Couldn’t complain about the price. The $ 5.99 price per pound isn’t bad for New Orleans from what I have seen. The rest of the stuff at the Cajun’s seems pretty good. I’ll probably go back and try the crabs sometimes. And it looks like they have a decent selection of fresh seafood.

Fresh, spicy, boiled crawfish for $ 5.99 a pound? Yes, it’s true and yes it was delicious. This was the most affordable and one of the best meals I had while visiting new Orleans. Cafeteria style, you can order your boiled seafood at one counter along with sides like spicy boiled corn and potatoes or crawfish pies but also fried seafood plates and take away raw seafood. Eat there or take it to go and pick up a daiquiri and enjoy the delicious seafood at the park. Make sure to get extra napkins.

I was told about this place from some locals working at a restaurant on Bourbon Street. The question I posed to them is where do the locals eat? Because everything on Bourbon Street is overpriced. They told me check out Cajuns. It wasn’t in walking distance of Bourbon Street and you probably want to go by car before dark anyway. At least that was their recommendation to us and I agree with their recommendation. It has a bit of a suspect vibe but that has never and will never stop me from getting good food! Sure enough the seafood was very reasonable priced compared to where we’d been eating on Bourbon Street. They have a fresh fish market and a hot food bar most of the stuff is weighed by the pound except the Chinese food items and they come in sizes like small or large. I had the boiled crawfish, boiled shrimp, seafood pasta and a few large crabs for $ 20. The crabs were very reasonably priced I live in the Washington, DC area and they try to kill you with the crab prices. The boiled seafood was VERYTASTY, seasoned well and flavorful I see why the locals love it here. The crabs were good, but they were cold which wasn’t really all that appealing to me but the meat still tasted good. I didn’t enjoy the seafood pasta at all though my friend did, it was too oily and had potential to be better, but there was a lot of shrimp in it. I really enjoyed my experience here so much so I went back the next day and had the boiled crawfish, boiled shrimp and boiled crab legs, all still tasted great. I’m getting hungry thinking about it as I type…

This is a very no-frills experience. Counter service, lots of seating. The main attraction is seafood, but there are plenty of seafood-free items on the menu. There are a handful of parking spots out front but there’s also street parking on the adjacent streets. Crawfish were $ 6/lb and delicious – they were really well seasoned and had a nice kick. I also tried the turkey neck($ 2 each) and would highly recommend it. I’d never had turkey neck before but it turns out it’s a cut with a lot of really good dark meat.

The bag o’ shrimp we ordered was seriously the best food I have ever consumed. Somewhat spicy, large shrimp with the heads on, served in a plastic bag. Be sure to grab plenty of napkins! The ordering procedure is weird, with separate counters for bulk seafood and prepared foods, but the staff is patient and accommodating.

Cheapest and most satisfying seafood meal ever. We came here under the recommendation of a local über driver, so we decided to be adventurous and try a local joint that isn’t really in any restaurant blogs. This place had a food court style seating area with a section selling ready to eat seafood and Chinese food and the other selling raw seafood. We ordered 1 lb of boiled shrimp($ 8/lb), 1 lb of crawish($ 5/lb), a turkey neck($ 2) and a corn($ 0.60), the total was only $ 18 for over 2lbs of seafood! Both the shrimp and crawfish was boiled in a spicy Cajun soup and was delicious. The crawfish have small bodies with not much meat, a bit too much work for so little meat, but of course it’s not their fault, I just wish we ordered 2 lbs of shrimp instead. The shrimp was large and delicious, fun of juice from the cooking soup. The turkey neck was huge and had tons of meat, definitely worth it for only $ 2. The corn was also cooked in some of their magically juices that made it delicious, no butter needed! I wish they had a restaurant like this where I’m from, I would definitely eat seafood more often!

Omg Cajun Seafood was so legit. Where have you been all my life?! Boiled crawfish for only around $ 5 per lb. We were there in December so it wasn’t even crawfish season, but the crawfish still looked way larger than what I’ve seen in California… and tons fresher. The Louisiana seasoning amazingly on point — a delicious sauce & perfectly spicy(I love eating spicy; this was at the perfect level where you’re loving it and it’s NOT killing you). The crab was delicious as well. They have some sides that are good to go with the spicy meal — corn, sausages, etc. ==AMBIANCE– The restaurant itself is a mixture of cafeteria/food court, and you can also do carry-out. They serve both cooked and raw seafood here, which must be a plus for locals who want to do their own seasoning. The crawfish was served in a plastic bag just like it is at Boiling Crab(back in California). Nothing fancy but everything is down to earth yummy. Highly recommended! Be sure to make this one of your stops if you’re in NOLA.

Cajun Seafood has a vibe that’s a cross between a cafeteria and a carryout, because it is both of those things, and hot seafood served in a plastic bag is part of the charm/experience. Bucking the trend, had a grilled shrimp po boy on a bun and a boiled potato. The po boy was awesome, really flavorful and not overcooked. The potato was kind of bland and didn’t soak up much of the cajun seasoning, but I still liked it, though admittedly, I love potatoes and have rarely met one that I didn’t like. I also tried some of my sister’s boiled crab legs and shrimp, which were delicious, but only shrimp were really spicy. I would be willing to eat any of these things again, but everything was so good that I’d be curious to also try every other menu item. Highly recommended.

1) go to counter 2) get sack of crawfish, shrimps, corn-on-the-cob, and cajun fries. 3) eat eat eat eat eat. Now, I’m prejudiced in this one, I make a variant of it myself at home that I find to be superior– but I’ve tweaked the recipe greatly. The crawfish were prefrozen(they made it clear to us that fresh ones cost more but weren’t in season, and there *were* differences in quality) We felt that the crawfish weren’t as good as the shrimp, they were smaller and less flavorful. The shrimp was excellent, with good flavor and just enough fire. The corn-on-the-cob was amazingly good, I need to figure out how they make it so good. Cajun fries were basically normal fries with cajun seasoning sprinkled on it. The family agreed that mine are better *squee* but that’s because they like it extra spicy. The food is served in plastic bags(this place is essentially a market with some tables on the side) and is meant to be eaten with your hands so don’t be surprised when they don’t give you silverware, plates, or anything but napkins. Don’t wear fancy clothes or anything white. We took an Über there, and were told by the driver that when we called for an Über to return that we should wait inside for them to come. Pretty sketchy neighborhood. Overall, excellent

This place is huge! There’s a lot of food court like seating. The place was clean and bright. We were only here for the weekend and we(I) really wanted some fresh crawfish boil before returning home. We were still full from visiting the French Market but we came here anyway. We ordered half a lb of the ‘hot and fresh’ louisana crawfish(7.99 a lb), one turkey neck, sausage, snow crablegs(12.99 a lb) and an ooey gooey pie. I was a little worried since it isn’t crawfish season but the crawfish were still sweet although more on the smaller side. The turkey neck was a little too salty for me, but I’m glad we tried it. The crab legs were great!(Ask for the cracker) The ooey gooey pie was great after all the spicy and salty. Overall a great experience!

No frills, great value, delicious seafood. Skip all the overpriced touristy seafood restaurants and come here instead… at least once. Yes your shrimp, crab, and other crustaceans will be served to you piping hot in a plastic bag. Yes you can order corn & potatoes to complete the seafood boil experience. Just stand in line, order your food, then roll up your sleeves and feast. Unless you live in NOLA or along the coast, you probably won’t find shellfish at these prices at any restaurant back home.

Guess we can’t leave New Orleans without enjoying some crawfish. By the power of Unilocal and Google, we found this place. LOTS of seafood to choose from, cooked and raw, and you can order in large quantities… Also some interesting cajun/asian dishes. The two of us ended up having 8 lbs of crawfish, 2 pork feet, and some fries, all of these for less than $ 60. I like the pork feet. Crawfish is not the most fresh, but ok. The dining area could be a little bit messy, but not much complaints.

My dad is an OF, original foodie. While passing through NOLA he wanted crawfish and other Cajun food from a place where the locals go. That’s how we ended up in a random neighborhood at a place that serves boiled seafood, Cajun platters and…“Chinese” food. After ordering 20 lbs of crawfish, 10 lbs of large shrimp, 5 lbs of crab legs, corn, potatoes, a turkey neck and ~$ 270 short, my family enjoyed a giant feast away from the crowded NOLA tourist spots and were able to bring our rice cooker in peace. Yes, we brought our own rice. The thing is, it wasn’t crawfish season. When I laboriously peeled my crawfish and chewed my bit of meat, it tasted like nothing! Everything Cajun here had one level of spice and the level of it was probably too much for someone that doesn’t eat spicy food on the reg, but pathetic for someone that scratches their arm just waiting for crawfish season to start. The only thing that made up for my tender fingers from all of the hard peeling was the large boiled shrimp and crab legs. The shrimp were large and the crab legs were sweet. It’s been a few days but I think about the shrimp and taking a large bite from their hearty boiled potatoes and deliciously seasoned corn. Pat Baby is not into Cajun food so he ordered teriyaki wings that had a surprisingly pleasant spice and popcorn shrimp. Maybe if crawfish was in season they would have been much better, but the rest of the boiled seafood was great and affordable. This place was also large enough to accommodate a group of 33 and chill enough to deal with a loud family with children, so keep doing your thang Cajun and Seafood!

A great place to eat crawfish and see and be seen. This is my favorite crawfish to buy already boiled in the city. It’s peak season right now, and yesterday I ate two pounds along with a crab, corn, and potatoes and it was perfect. There are lots of lines and lots of people when you go inside but there are signs that make it pretty self-explanatory. They have fresh seafood that’s cheaper than Rouse’s — but I’m not sure if it’s gulf shrimp or if they aren’t frozen beforehand(they don’t make any claims and I haven’t asked lol). They’ve also got crab legs, Chinese food, tons of cold drinks, people selling prepaid phone plans, etc. it’s a one stop shop! Plan in advance during carnival, saints games, Saturday’s with good weather, etc. this place gets packed.
