Perfection! Scallops in mango salsa, wedge salad with bleu cheese, 22-ounce cowboy ribeye with chimmichurri sauce and potatoes gratin. Juan’s service was warm, friendly and professional. You don’t have to be a football fan to love Shulas.

Avoid this place glasses were dirty and the food is high price and the BBQ shrimp starter was cold and salty like a salt lick as was the scallops. The potatoes side was like soup but my wife said the fillet was ok. When ordering a dirty martini ask for a clean glass not worth 150.00 for two

Had breakfast here and the food was incredibly good. I had a breakfast and was expecting the usual stuff. What happened was a good solid breakfast. I really thought that the eggs were great. I would love to try this place for dinner.

I’ve had multiple visits to Shula’s throughout 2012 while staying at the JW Marriott. Their dining is fantastic, but very, very expensive(for me and my husband, 1 steak, 2 sides, 2 salads and my soup, it was around $ 120+. Positive — the service is great at dinner. The food across the street at the Palace Café is more reasonable in price and just as good, if not better, with a taste of New Orleans. My recommendation for Shula’s is to eat their breakfast buffet. The price is OK(still expensive) but they have a large selection and a few«luxury» items like smoked salmon. The service isn’t as great in the morning, but it’s worth the visit. So, skip dinner, go across the street(unless you want to blow it out like we did with a good steak) but visit for breakfast. 3 stars due to price at dinner and service in the morning.

We really enjoyed eating here during our stay. We did the breakfast buffet as we were staying at the JW Marriott and it was delicious. We also ate dinner here on our last night for our anniversay. Hubby had steak and I had twin lobster tails. The twin lobster tails were the PERFECT size and very delicious. We also had the crab mac n cheese which was amazing but not nearly as good as the twice baked mashed potatoes.

I have been to many Shula’s locations around the country and I always find them to serve a fairly good steak at a premium price. The New Orleans loacation is no different. Shula’s target demographic are business diners who don’t want to venture out of the hotel after a long day of meetings and corporate politics. I had a good meal at the JW Marriott Shula’s location after a long day of work. So, if you are staying at the JW and don’t want to venture out in the French Quarter, by all means give Shula’s a try for dinner. But, you should know that there are some great meals to be had within a few minutes of the hotel. Dickie Brennan’s, New Orleans Chop House and Commander’s Palace all serve a great steak and have some local New Orleans flavor. These are just a few examples, in New Orleans there are many, many good places for dinner.

Good steak, Great martinis and a location second to none! Shula’s does it right no matter which location you go to. My «go to» steak is always a New York strip and this one was delicious, cooked perfectly and served with a side of requested Bearnaise sauce. This is definitely a «man’s bar» as the number of times that I stopped in just to get a beer– I was the only female in the place with guys in suits surrounding me. The dark décor, and paneled walls make me feel like I am in a library or men’s lounge. But after a couple of sips of my martini, I am pretty much oblivious to what is around me any way! So you know– this is the restaurant for the JW Marriott so they serve both lunch and dinner but you may find(as I did) that they close early on most nights so plan ahead.

Big portion of prime-rib, but it wasn’t the best i had. We stayed here for Mardi Gras week and when the parade comes around Canal street they close it for hours. Our hotel happens to be on Canal Street which means we really can’t go to Bourbon street to get something to eat so we decided to eat a Shula’s since it is inside JW Marriott. We at first thought we wanted to ea there, but then decided to take it to-go so we can watch the parade from our window. I ordered their 32 oz Prime rib, with their Tomato & Fresh Mozzarella Chop Salad and Lobster Mash Potatoes. All three were pretty disappointing and it didn’t help that they gave us the cheapest quality of plastic knives and fork to cut through my medium rare prime-rib. Also the horseradish didn’t even have any kick in it… so disappointing! The Tomato & Fresh Mozzarella Chop Salad barely had any mozzarella in it, ithey were in tiny bits and there wasn’t that much tomatos. As for the Lobster Mashed Potato it was extremely lacking in flavor and there was only a small bits of lobster meat it it. However, i can smell how fishy it was. After attempting to cut into the meat for 45 mins I didn’t bother to try and finish it and I usually always finish my prime rib. Overall, for the reputation for having good steaks, mine was pretty disappointing. However, maybe their steaks is way better than their side dishes and prime ribs. They probably should invest on better horseradish though.

No doubt about, you are going to pay! It’s not a two sides with the entrée type of restaurant. It’s your a-la-carte menu, so being a meat and potato’s guy, I went with the double baked potato and 24 oz Porterhouse. I had their complimentary bread, it was the best complimentary bread I’ve ever eaten. I had the Ceasar Salad, it was the best Ceasar Salad I’ve ever eaten. The baked potato and Porterhouse, ditto! Staff was okay. Restrooms were great, which was expected for that type of establishment. Ambiance was exeptional. Expect to pay a lot if you go!

Didn’t have dinner here, but did have the breakfast buffet. Food on the buffet seemed pretty decent, but they could have labeled their buffet a bit better. My girlfriend and I were gutsy enough to play the guessing game with something that looked like a biscuit, but was heavier than a biscuit. It ended up being something like a biscuit sandwich, but you couldn’t tell what was inside until you cut into it. The rest of the buffet was kind of a hit or miss since we came right around 10ish. The eggs that were left were just a few chunks, the bacon already disappeared, and you know when white gravy sits awhile it forms that layer? Yeah, it made for some awesome gravy for my biscuits. I think the only meat I got in was some sausage. There were some healthier alternatives like fruit, but I don’t go to breakfast buffets for fruit. We also got some of the fresh made to order waffles and omelets, but we had to wait a while for the cook to show up from the back. The cook didn’t seem to thrilled that we were making her work. I’ve had better breakfasts for the price

Too Bad you can’t give a ZERO or I would have given them one. We had 6 adults and 12 year old. We were seated promptly and greeted professionally. There were no more than 4 other tables in the restaraunt at a given time. We waited 10 minuutes for someone to take our drink order and another 10 minutes to get them. We than ordered. Salad and soup were very tasty. Drinks no empty no one to refill. Steaks and main courses came. ½ our food was cold. Steaks were better at an Outback or Cheap steakhouse. We wait for drinks, wait for checks, wait for server to remove plates. It was a bad experience, NEVER going back and don’t reocommend anyone going there. Eat at a Ruth Chris or Morton’s

Shula’s has a great reputation for steaks. If you haven’t ever eaten at one, make it a point to do so. This is my 3rd trip to Shula’s in 3 different cities. Unfortunately, this came in at 3rd place. But, meat was still great. I had the 16 oz. NY Strip and it was cooked to perfection. The only problem with the steak was that there were 11 people in my party. By the time they passed them all out, it had cooled down considerably. The main stays for sides were lobster mashed potatoes and crab Mac n cheese. Well, not everyone is into seafood-like me! Give me some starch dishes that are NOT seafood related. Other than that, I would recommend grabbing a steak here.

The fact that Shula’s is a chain restaurant does not necessarily have a negative connotation, but in this situation it does. The steaks rate very poorly when compared to all of the many other options available to you in New Orleans. The prices were also a little high for my taste. Everyone in my party was not satisfied with their steaks. The temps were not consistent and the quality of the steaks were not up to par. However, I do have great things to say about the sides. I adored the lobster mashed potatoes and the crab mac and cheese. Sadly, I wished the steaks could have lived up to the high promise that these sides showed.

Last month, I spent a week downtown for my yearly«staycation» and was disappointed that I didn’t discover Shula’s until the day before I checked out. I was shoping along Canal Street and saw their menu as I was headed back to my room and decided to check them out for a mid afternoon lunch. I sat at the bar and had a drink($ 9) along with the blackened tenderloin tips cooked medium($ 15, I believe) and OMG, the tenderloin tips were cooked to perfection and practically melted in my mouth. I enjoyed my mid afternoon lunch so much that I went back later that night for dinner with a friend. We sat at the bar and I had the blackened tenderloin tips again(they’re that good) and the hashbrown potatoes. Although the blackened tenderloin tips were excellent(again), they were cooked a bit more than the medium I requested. The hashbrown potatoes were hot and crispy on the outside and hot and flaky on the inside and the portion is enough for two people. Granted, Shula’s is a bit pricy but save your nickels and dimes because they are worth the splurge. The food is delicious, the service is impeccable and the atmosphere is just lovely.

We had the buffet breakfast here since we stayed at the JW Marriot. It’s overpriced and the service is SO slow. Took 15 minutes to get ketchup… once my home fries were already cold. Years ago the home fries were my favorites ever but they did nothing for me this time around. A bit of a disappointment. Nice omelet/waffle guy!

Dam all I have to say is take your time with your steak. One can become over welmed with flavor that melts in your mouth. Make sure you get a side and take your time. This is not the kind of steak you cut up on your plate and hammer down. Enjoy it one peice at a time mixing it up with a strong drink and your side dish.

I was seated and promptly forgotten. I waited. No water. No bread. No service. And so… I left. They charge a pretty penny so their service should be impeccable. Not!

This review is basis strictly on their breakfast… but since the breakfast was so good I’m imagining dinner can’t be completely that different. I went here for breakfast because it was in my hotel… The convenience alone was a plus for me. I went down stairs and they had a breakfast buffet but I opted for regular dinning since the buffet was only mix fruits and pastries… more of what you get with continental breakfast basket. Anyhow here are what they had that I tried: Smoked salmon, belgian waffle and french toast… yes i had all. The salmon to my surprise was served as a salad but it was wonderful. it wasn’t too salty or too smokey, just perfect. The waffle was amazing. It was toasty and just everything you expect and more out of your belgian waffle. French toast is my favorite. It was crispy yet melts in your mouth. The golden fried piece of heaven was amazing. Try out their breakfast at least… if you don’t want to commit to dinner.

Stopped by for lunch on a Sunday when the rest of the surrounding areas were closed! My colleague and I were in the mood for a muffuletta — mostly because we had never had one before and we both had heard so much about it! Stopped at Silvio’s and found out they were closed, and found a «local» and asked where we could grab a muffuletta within quick walking distance(it was POURING out!). She recommended Shula’s… and they didn’t disappoint! Yes, it is a chain restaurant(multiple locations throughout the country). And they were SUPER friendly(to be honest… a bit too much in our face as we were exhausted from traveling/working and just wanted to sit and eat in peace)! Portions were huge, and the sandwich was great! But I have to say — the best part was the warm loaf of sourdough bread that appeared with a heavenly slab of creamy butter… Mmmm. Have to come back and try their steaks!

Shula’s…well it’s a chain sort of I guess right? The food is absolutely up there in terms of taste and quality, but what threw me off was the ridiculous prices! Even for a high-end steakhouse it was a little much! Don’t get me wrong, the food is delicous. They actually bring out all the cuts they have on-hand for you to pick yours out which I have yet to see anywhere else. The service is good, nothing over the top but not bad either. If you like football I guess it’s cool to see all the memorabilia on the walls but personally I could care less. I don’t know if it was that or if it was because the restaurnt is located inside a hotel, but it all just didn’t scream good steak place to me. All-in-all we had a great meal, the onion rings we’re nice and thick, the steak very tender and oh-so-juicy, but just not quite good enough for a second visit. If you are in Nawlins looking to eat some great steak, head down to Dickie Brennan’s instead where the atmosphere and food is miles better and you will feel like you are in a truly upscale steak place.
