The fried shrimp po-boy is a really safe bet. The shrimp is perfectly battered.

OMG this food is sooooooo amazing. I fell into a food coma mid way through finishing my food. We ordered Cajun chicken tenders and fries and a Cajun turkey club and Mac and cheese. The chicken tenders were fried to perfection and were definitely homemade not frozen. And the club had boars head turkey. It was so delicious and so reasonably priced. Please Please Please go to Sammys whenever you’re in the New Orleans area.

Not a bad thing on the menu! Huge poboys! They don’t skimp on the portion sizes! True New Orleans style food. It’s always packed but the kitchen is quick. Thought it was cool that there were folks in suits, workout clothes, work uniforms and construction hats… all types of people! My kind of place!

This place came as an initial shocker. Excellent venue for BOTH breakfast AND lunch. The portion size of their entrees is ALWAYS satisfying so nothing seems out of its price range. Haven’t had anything bad from there honestly. Easy to place phone orders or if you have some time on your hands, I recommend you sit down and eat! If things aren’t too busy, the cashier will bring your food out to you when its ready. Recommendations: Fried Chicken PoBoy(LITERALLY the BEST Fried Chicken PoBoy your body will ever consume) Sammy’s Big Easy Breakfast(the pancakes were surprisingly tasty and you definitely get the most bang for your buck with ANY of the breakfast entrees).

Hands down THEBEST Hot Roast Beef Po Boy with debris gravy that I’ve eaten in NOLA… and I’ve had what were supposed to be «the best» from all the«famous places»! They do not even compare to Sammy’s in my opinion! I’d go with fully dressed and Swiss cheese! It’s got enough rich gravy as to not be sloppy, but soaks into the Po Boy bread just right… the Swiss Cheese melting a bit from the heat of the meat and gravy… combined with the fresh lettuce, tomato, pickle and mayo just makes for a perfect sandwich! And this is no cheap roast beef either! Whole roasts… roasted and sliced on site! I could not tell if they use Leidenheimer loaves for sure… but if not… they are just as good! The bread is PERFECT! A bit crusty on the outside… soft on the inside… with just the«right amount of chew»! There are lots of other good meals to be had here for sure… But I come for the Po Boys!

So I have to admit, I wanted breakfast and was headed to Waffle House when I stumbled on this place. It was really busy and I’m nosey so I figured I’d go see why everyone was going over there. I am soooooo glad I did!!! Mother’s Restaurant used to be my favorite restaurant… sorry guys, you have been replaced. The portions hereare soon large and the food is to die for. This is not just great cajun/creole food but fabulous Southern food too. Everything was to die for from the turnip greens to the potato salad to the banging catfish and stuffed shrimp. I could go here everyday of the week for a month and have something different. They’re busy and there is a line but it moves quickly. We live in the world of technology so look at the menu on the way so you know what you want as soon as you get in the line… your fellow customers will thank you. You have to try Sammy’s!

Shanice, I’m sorry last time I checked having a drink taken away from you because you’re stealing drinks does not make someone a racist… not everything in the world is free including drinks in a restaurant this place is amazing I eat there all the time and have never had a problem with me or my mixed grandkids and very black stepson. we have always been treated respectfully and fair and the bulk of Gina’s staff is African American or Hispanic. So if you think you can go on Unilocal and trash somebody’s business because you got caught stealing your lucky they didn’t call the cops I would have… as matter fact you’re lucky they’re cops were not in there at the time cuz usually there’s one or two having lunch all the time and had you been caught stealing you would have went to jail for petty theft

Stopped in yesterday for lunch. Food was excellent, will definitely be back! The wait was a little long, but worth it. Parking can be an issue and the place was full with the lunch crowd at 1 pm, so I’d try to go a little early or late to beat the rush.

Unilocal has this at 2 dollar signs but you can easily get a large meal for under 10. So you light to average eaters beware. Look at those portion sizes coming out of the kitchen and then make a decision. Service was fast and friendly abs quality of the food lived up to all the tv hype and reviews. We are happy we made this one of our vacation stops. I wish I had a bigger stomach.

BLUF: Great down home food for good price. Huge portion with a good price. I work near by sometimes and heard got things so we went for lunch about 1230. it was really crowded. Order at the counter and they’ll call your number. Line moves pretty quickly and your number will be called in a reasonable amount of time. They have a long list of specials. Once I saw chicken fried steak I stopped looking. It came with 2 pieces and both of pretty good size and the perfect amount of gravy. Each piece was big enough for a meal so was really happy to have gotten 2. It was reallly great. Great gravy too. I got it with fries which were from a frozen bag. Get something else. I also got the candied yams which were amazing. Not sure how fresh it was but it was dang good. They have a lot of sides and I’d like to try them all. My coworkers got the greens and hot sausage; and gumbo. They liked their food a lot. My meal was fantastic for a good price. Good southern menu and fast(ish). I’ll def be back.

This place has a good menu, I tried the Catfish Poboy on my first visit just today. It was yummy! If you’re in the area or not, this place is definitely worth stopping in.

Sammys is the premier spot to get food in the NOLA. Minus the exacerbated prices, this is one of the best places to eat period. Can’t wait to try all the specials.

Talk about that good southern home cooking make your arteries clogged type of food! Just kidding, but not really. I went here for the first time with some peers that frequent Sammys since they go to UNO. I shared the ½ Cajun chicken plate and my sides were creamed potatoes and Mac and cheese. One dish is so much food! It was only $ 10 and there was a breast, a thigh, a leg and a wing. It was fried perfectly with the right amount of crisp and doneness. The sides were good, I just wish the potatoes had a tad bit of gravy. I also wish the chicken was spicier, but that’s just me. My fried chicken comes from Spicy Popeyes haha. So I’m used to a little heat. Although it lacks heat, this place if definitely a good eat for some good olé southern home cooking. Beware — not much seating OR parking.

I went back here recently because I had a good experience the first time I went and my girlfriend wanted try it because she learned about this place via the food network. Well the second experience was not as good as the first one. First off the service wasn’t that great the people behind the counter weren’t that friendly. I guess it was because they were busy. The speed of the service was on par with my last visit, so no complaints there. The food was bland and flavorless. I had the stuffed catfish plate. I had to add salt to my fish because it lacked flavor. The jambalaya wasn’t that great either. Besides the food, the cleanliness of the restaurant was appalling. There were straw papers and food crumbs all over the floor. Another thing that bothered me was an unpleasant odor emanating from the restaurant. I don’t know what it was but it was really bad. Also they ran out of napkins and ice in the soda dispenser. In short this place has went way down hill from the last time I was here. Guy Fieri would be ashamed of himself if he knew how awful this place became!

This food was gross, the only thing that was good was the lemons. Like I said in the picture, but I forgot the word good, because I was still freaking out about the taste. I had the stuff catfish, big mistake! Never get it. service was bad. I will never go there again.

VIDEOPOKER, ATM, FOUNTAINDRINKS, DELICASE, DAYCARE… well, no, not day care but Sammy’s has all the rest and more including their scary Fierri signed poster. RUN&GETTHERAYRAY! It’s sort of a fried chicken cordon bleu po’boy — delicious — and for me, I’ve turned the $ 11, 10-incher into three meals! Couple that with bottomless refillable fountain drinks, two people can have a large quality meal for about $ 8 each. But skip the mealy non-crispy fries, opt instead for the way better potato salad or mac & cheese. WEIGHTYWAIT: despite being the only diner at 10:40AM it took almost 15 minutes to get my food.
