You must try the frozen dirty zombie. It’s divine! Great place, great people.

Best coffee in town. Tucked in at the end of Canal St., it’s worth the drive from wherever you are. Try the almond milk latte’. Its the best there is!

Damn tasty iced coffee. I’d say the best I’ve had in Nola thus far. I’d have given 5 stars if not for the close proximity of the coffee counter to the incense being sold in the shared business space. The incense permitted the plastic straw maybe? Every few sips tasted like Woodstock. I would recommend relocating the incense stand. Still though, super amazing iced coffee.

I’m on a roll lately… Everywhere I go seems to be absolutely amazing. But that’s because I have great friends with even greater taste! Being a visitor to New Orleans, I was relying a bit on friends(and Unilocal!) to guide me through town. When I met up in the AM with one friend she suggested we get coffee at an «interesting» café she knew of. Little did I know it was actually located practically on top of an historic cemetery! It was seriously so ridiculously cool. I’m not one of those dress-like-it’s-Halloween-every-day people or someone who’s death-obsessed or even into religion. I just thought this was super unique! So if you’re into the occult or into grave sites or NOLA history or anything, this is still a great spot to visit. But if you’re not and you’re just up for something new and weird, this is perfect. The coffee and tea is great. There’s iced options, too for those that like cold drinks. They have vegan friendly snacks and other baked goods in a case, plus lots of snacks and the café opens onto a full blown convenience store, slash smoke shop, slash incense shop, slash souvenir store. We grabbed our tea and coffee and sat on the outdoor patio looking onto long lost people who presumably spent their lives(and now death) in New Orleans. It was fascinating to see and kinda fun to hang out near.

Sacred Grinds is my peanut butter, my jelly, and my jam. My favorite coffee stop before work or school. Get a frequent buyer card and hold on to it! I usually stick with iced coffee but every now and then I go for the iced mocha because theirs is honestly the best I’ve tried in the city. So delicious. Staff is cool and friendly too.

It’s been over a month since I had their iced coffee and I still think about it every time I have any other coffee. How do they make it taste like marshmallows??? Also worked on my laptop in the back patio and the power and wifi were great. Excellent place to ride out a midlife crisis.

I really liked this place a lot! It’s the only coffee shop in New Orleans that I’ve found so far that has a frozen spiced chai drink. And that’s one of my favorite treats to get if I’m in a coffee shop. The service was excellent. The woman serving everyone was there by herself, but she was rocking it and was extremely nice. It’s small inside, but it’s cool because it has an eclectic/hippie shop inside as well. It’s right on top of a cemetery too, which is actually pretty interesting. I will be back!

I was looking for a good espresso place on my way to City Bark dog park. They are pet friendly and make a very good espresso drink. I think they’re more consistent than Fair Grinds if you know the place for comparison. Just keep in mind that the medium sized cup from Fair Grinds is a small here at Sacred Grinds

Love love love the employees. They make me feel like I’m home every time I’m there. Also, it’s nice to sit outside on the back patio. Even if it’s raining, it’s covered. Definitely one of my favorite coffee shops so far. And so close to home.

So so good. In my top ten in New Orleans. They have true, talented baristas. Amazing espresso. Practically in a cemetery, which is where I want to be buried, right next door please and thank you. We will be back!

I visited this coffee shop with a friend of mine. I absolutely loved it. One of those true hidden gems. It’s not just a novelty theme shop, it actually is staffed by a knowledgable barista who helps you with your selection and doesn’t disappoint with service or taste. I would definitely recommend this shop for the best coffee in the area.

I’ve been on a coffee hunt in New Orleans, and sadly to say — I haven’t found much. Maybe I haven’t exactly had the time to explore the city much yet, but there are definitely less cafes than I had expected. One decent café I found was Sacred Grinds, a café attached to an herb shop. Is it bad if I say this store has a hippie vibe? I rather like it, actually, with all their statuettes and art deco… The coffee was aromatic and not acidic at all, and they even give you an extra shot! Though the coffee isn’t specially sourced or roasted in house, their coffee is decent. Though they don’t quite acknowledge you when you want to make an order, they’re laid back and friendly for the most part. If I remember correctly, they also serve tea and smoothies. Though the coffee wasn’t bad, the location is a bit out of the way(by the cemetery, so unless you’re in the area, I wouldn’t go out of my way to procure a latte.

The staff was really nice as I hustled in 10 minutes before closing in dire need of an iced tea and a muffin. My tea was smooth and perfectly brewed and my strawberries & cream muffin was sticky and delicious. The coffee part of the shop is small but doesn’t feel that way since it’s open to the Herb store adjacent… which is where the rest room is located(and you have to get the key from the cashier). I did wander around the shop for a moment attracted by the large displays of teas. So maybe my minor complaint is my own fault since I ventured from the coffee shop section… I smelled like a hippie when I left, not unwashed, but smelling like patchouli which makes me sneeze. Next time I’ll stay on the beverage side than head outside to enjoy the views of Canal St and the cemeteries.

The coffee was good but I left feeling pretty unsatisfied. The staff weren’t very friendly and I never really felt welcome in the store. I never got a greeting or an acknowledgement of my purchase, or a thank you. It’s a pretty neat looking place with a unique location and seems set up ideally for takeout coffee. Seating inside is pretty sparse though there are a few metal tables out front. They’ve got a solid drinks menu and a wide selection of coffee varieties. No flavored coffees that I noticed but they’re not my thing anyway. Handful of pastries and to go foods as well.

I had to make a little visit to the herb shop and had to stop by and get me a little coffee. I actually went with a latter with almond milk. It’s definitely not my usual type of coffee shop and definitely way healthier lol. It was refreshing, they were very knowledgeable about the product and pretty much would tell me all the stuff I wouldn’t like. Price point is average. It’s extremely small so it’s really just a takeout type of place right next to a cemetery so it gives it a little character. Parking should be no problem, much parking on the street as well as on the street car line if you taking a ride down.

Now that I’m a raging Walking Dead fan, an update to my review for Sacred Grinds seems especially relevant! No, really, I just need to talk about my love for all things zombie, all things New Orleans cemetery and all things coffee coffee coffeeeeee. Can you tell I’m caffeinated? This is my favorite coffee shop in town, hands-down(brains-down? That doesn’t sound right). Coffee is great and cheap(Hello, Unilocal check-in offer). Staff is very friendly. They have more snack options than before(including some raw Hail Merry and Superfood bars). And then you go out back. Don’t worry. You’re fenced in, kinda like Rick and the gang in that prison(but much less institutional). You cannot beat the ambiance. If quiet is what you’re looking for, well, come on, it’s all but inside a freaking *cemetery* for Argento’s sake! Plus, I tend to get way more work done when I sit there staring at my future. To get all Peggy Lee on you, I find myself gazing at the weathered headstones thinking, «Is that all there is?» cuz if so… I better get back to finishing my masterpiece, that’s all I’m saying.

Where else in the world can you find a down-home coffee shop that’s basically in a cemetery? This is seriously one of the coolest places EVER. As I type this review, I’m in the back of SG, where I can see James Clarke’s grave who lived(from what I think that number is) until 1877. I never knew this man, but I think he’d be okay with how the area of the cemetery turned out. Aside from having wifi(ask the cashier how to log on and they’ll print you a username and password), this place turns out a damn good soy latte($ 3.75) and because I couldn’t help it, a ham and cheese croissant($ 3). This is one of the closest places to my house and I’m happy that not only is the food good, the service extremely friendly, and the wifi reliable, but I get to share my drink with James Clarke and his neighbors.
