AWESOME!!! My wife and I were there last night for our anniversary. Service was impeccable, food was amazing and the ambience was second to none. We will definitely go back. I would say this restaurant and Katies are going to have to fight for who’s first and who’s second in terms of best restaurants in midcity.

Very good food and the staff was great. This old shotgun home has been transformed into a wonderful restaurant. I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner. I ordered the strip loin with brussels sprouts and Mac and cheese for the table to share and it certainly did not disappoint. i would come here again except there are so many places in this area that I still haven’t tried yet. I usually need some condiments to enhance my food but I never looked for anything else but a fork for the appetizer or entrée. My only disappointment was the hot tea. I ordered the«secret garden» and while it was flavorful and I didn’t need to add sweetener, I couldn’t get over the tea leaves floating all over. They steep loose tea in a little tea pot, but the strainer didn’t catch half of the tea leaves so I found myself chewing on my tea and I was unhappy with that because the tea was really good. But overall this is an amazing place to experience away from the French quarter and I do recommend.

The braised lamb shank was simple and unpretentious. Beans and peas were a great accompaniment. I enjoyed eating them in the lamb stock. The fried broccoli rabe was delicious, but a little too spicy for me with the red pepper, so I ate them with my beans. Enjoyed the frites with the salt and vinegar. A nice change of pace. Also enjoyed the cheese tray, with the pungent blue cheese, sharp cheddar cheese, and some more mild cheeses that I ate with a quince cube, rice cracker, and apple. They also had honey. FYI the blue cheese and the Brussel sprouts contain alcohol.

Five stars. Always. This has become my go to spot for dinner before the amazing streetcar ride to the Saenger. Service is spot on and the food is always incredible. Craft cocktails are always delicious and interesting. Chef Ray is a great talent and having a view of the kitchen makes for a fun experience. The ambiance is so lovely! Thee artwork is beautiful and I love the booth that is situated in the new addition. It’s fun. It’s funky, and provides a great spot for a little privacy but I’m also a people watcher so I like being in the main dining room. This was, however, the first time I ordered the marrow. Jeezus. Stop reading and get there already!

A great start to a great trip! My friends and I had our first meal together visiting NOLA here, for a 30th birthday party. I read reviews online raving about the food, and they were able to reserve our large party, so we went for it. Pros: The majority of food was OUT-STANDING. Do yourself a favor and try the deep fried chicken skins, oh my goodness. Everyone was able to try something you don’t normally see, and those who ordered the risotto raved about it, not to mention the prices were fair for the quality and quantity of food you were receiving. The wine list was good, and the atmosphere was absolutely adorable. We could not have asked for a better server, she was so attentive, friendly, and did a fantastic job. Also, deep fried cupcakes. Cons: We did have a large party, and the kitchen was very small, so dinner for 11 people with some apps and dessert took about 3+ hours. They may not be equipped to handle larger parties if you have anywhere to be afterwards. If not, and you’re the type of group who likes to sit and socialize, this place will work out great for you. Some of the food was disappointing, specifically the macaroni and cheese. Being able to spoon off oil is not always desirable. Also, whatever brand of ginger beer they use for their drinks was not at all delicious. Would I go back? 110% yes and would recommend this place to anyone visiting.

I attended a Christmas dinner here. Now, ~2 months later, I really can’t remember what I ordered. I think it was fish. That’s telling, though — it wasn’t that memorable. The service was fantastic and they had a nice wine menu. The food wasn’t spectacular by any means but I enjoyed my visit. If I return, I think I’ll get the fried cupcakes, since we didn’t do dessert but the other Unilocal reviews seem to insist they are wonderful.

What a cute little gem in Mid-City! It’s so nice to see some«finer» dining in this area because we were really trying to avoid downtown & uptown Nola since it’s Mardi Gras. My boyfriend & I came here for 8pm dinner on a Thursday night to celebrate our anniversary. I had never heard of it but was looking at a map of the area & spotted it and decided to try it based on Unilocal reviews. The Unilocalers did not fail us! I don’t have a single complaint about any of the dishes except that I was too full to truly enjoy the fried funfetti cupcakes(shame on me). The waiter suggested lamb shank over the strip loin for my boyfriend, and it was fall-off-the-bone tender. My scallops literally melted in my mouth & the three of them were more filling than you’d think. Our appetizers were the gumbo & cheese board, and I would 100% get both again! The gumbo reminded me of turtle soup. Also, there is a pretty large drink menu(small on beer, large on wine, and creative on cocktails). It’s a small place, but the service is amazing & it’s definitely a must-try! Parking is street only– the bank next door will tow.

This is such a cute little restaurant. I went here with a big group for my birthday and everyone really enjoyed what they ordered. However, we all agreed the pork chops were the best dish!

This place is so incredibly cute on the inside and outside. It’s so New Orleans! We had reservations for two, and most of the tables for two are in a very narrow hallway with tables up against the walls. It was fine with me, but my husband found it a little to tight. We started off with excellent cocktails and the bone marrow along with the breakfast risotto. The risotto was a creative appetizer and very delicious. The cars mixed onions on top of the bone marrow were sweet and yummy, but overpowered the marrow. Eating them separately worked out. For entrees we had the lamb shank and the scallops. Excellent choices. The meat was falling off the bone shank and the scallops were cooked perfectly. The purée of cauliflower and mushrooms underneath the scallops were also delicious. I really wanted the fried cupcakes for desert, but the only flavor they had was pumpkin, which I’m not a fan of. So next time … Overall, I absolutely love the place and can’t wait to return. There are tons of menu items we want to try.

Well-prepared food and fun cocktails but over priced. My girlfriends and I shared the cheese board for $ 18 which came with an assortment of 5 cheeses but the sizes were less than underwhelming. I ordered the chicken as my entrée which was cooked perfectly but lacked in seasoning. Brussels sprouts and macaroni and cheese were delicious

Heard lots about this place so had to try it. It was good and you can tell the chef is ambitious. We had several appetizers, ‘snacks’ and entrees and all shared. The chicken skins are unique and really good. The scallops were amazing, very big and cooked perfectly. They are priced high at $ 29 for three but you won’t be disappointed. The pork chop is also huge and cooked just perfectly. The only negative was the French press coffee. I was so excited about this offering but grind is not right for this method. Had grinds in it so many had to order another and second was the same. Both were also warm at best, not hot. The server mentioned the presses filters aren’t the best and she was right. They made up for it with free satsuma cocktail which was nice but would’ve preferred a great French press coffee to finish the meal :) Overall a great little place for fine dining experience in a casual environment. It’s worth a visit and get a little of everything so you can try several items!

Ah! All here delicious chic mid city restaurants make a girl feel good. Second time at tonight, and both times we had a great meal. First night we had the steamed mussels and frites. Delish, but a very strong coconut flavor, not for everyone if you don’t like coconut, but we do, so yeah. Entrees were the scallops, nicely seared and fresh. Second time we had the beet salad, tiny tiny but tasty. Entrees were the roasted chicken and pork chop. Chicken was great with a natural au jus, could have been a little more crispy but was still delightful. Not anything like the poulet at lilette or even the Franklin, but a tasty dish nonetheless. The pork chop was to rare at first and needed to be sent back. The second time it was nice and cooked with a good char, delish. I subbed vodka for one of the cocktails, instead of sherry or cognac or something. It’s not 1850, and I’m a vodka girl, so minus the cognac it was delish. They have a good bartender back there, but need to diversify their menu and consider who is buying fancy cocktails(girls who don’t drink cognac or sherry, that’s who). Overall a great meal, worth checking out.

I came here with my SO for a dinner before meeting some friends for a birthday night out. We decided to get a few small plates to split. We got the sausage w/cornbread and poached egg dish, the roasted cauliflower w/pickled carrots and cucumbers, the parmesan frites, and the grand slam risotto. The sausage was a pork sausage and was very good, and the cornbread and poached egg with it just made the dish rich and rustic. The roasted cauliflower was, well, roasted cauliflower; and the pickled carrots and cucumbers were an interesting surprise — I still can’t decide if I really like it or not… The parmesan frites were fantastic — perfectly cooked and seasoned too perfection. And the grand slam risotto was the bomb. The risotto took place of grits, and it came with poached egg and fancy pork(I can’t remember exactly, but I think it was pork cheek and another part of the pig), and the whole thing was just a very sophisticated(VERY) grand slam breakfast platter.

My husband and I had dinner here during the Coolinary event. The special they presented was nice. My husband ordered grilled drum with a nice salad. I ordered the hamburger and homemade fries. It was very good and the bun was amazing. I also ordered the Honolulu cocktail. It was very tasty. I will return!

I barely know where to even begin in describing how excellent Rue 127 is. We stopped in here on a whim, because our first choice(Ralph’s on the Park) was booked to capacity. We didn’t have a reservation here(they recommend one) so we had the choice of sitting outside on the patio or at a table in the bar area. We chose the bar. We started with delicious fried okra and bone marrow. The fried okra was lightly battered and fried and came with tomatillo sauce for dipping. The okra spears were delicious and a perfect start to the experience. The bone marrow was roasted veal marrow bones filled with caramelized onions and chipotle salsa verde. Decadent is an understatement. The marrow was amazing and when it mixed with the onions and salsa verde it created an unbelievable taste experience. I couldn’t get over how rich and delicious this appetizer was. For my entrée I got the pan seared salmon which was herb crusted salmon over white and green bean succotash with a bacon broth. I liked that the fish had a nice crust of herbs on it. The meat below the crust was tender and cooked to perfection. I loved how it just flaked off when I touched it with my fork. It spilled into the bacon broth and absorbed that juice, adding even more flavor to the experience. It was a perfect combination of fish and vegetables with a little something extra. Throughout the meal the wait staff was extremely attentive, and even though we were kind of off to the side, they checked on us constantly. The place itself is pretty small, so I definitely would make reservations in the future. I can also see how this would be a fantastic little stop for lunch. I will gladly return.

I’d highly recommend a reservation, as this is a small place, but make it an go, ASAP! We loved every bit of our meal here. The cocktail menu had just been updated, and I loved the fresh crisp Phileas Fog in Honolulu. We had fried okra(crisp with a delicious dipping sauce) and mussels(served with fries in a saffrony) sauce for apps. I’d orders the okra again, but probably skip the mussels. Not because they weren’t good, but just because the other courses were better. For an entrée, we had the chicken. It came seasoned and cooked perfectly. The meat was tender and the skin was crisp. For chicken, it was truly excellent. The side of Mac and cheese was the true star of the dish, though. It has the perfect crust and an amazing amount of flavorful cheese. I could eat a bowl of just that! After all of that, we had to try dessert, because so many Unilocal reviews raved about it. We had the deconstructed key lime pie – perfectly tart, very inventive. The true highlight of our trip were the deep fried cupcakes. We were told we had to try them. We were a bit skeptical, as none of us are huge red velvet fans, but boy are we glad to have given them a shot. Best dessert anyone at our table has had in a long time(and we’re big dessert fans). The cupcakes were the perfect size and not too rich or greasy, despite being deep fried. They came with three excellent dipping sauces(chocolate, salted caramel, and something with a nice citrus note), but I think they tasted perfect on their own. They had cream cheese icing on the inside that oozed out as you took a bite. Go, eat, order the deep fried cupcakes, and enjoy this neighborhood gem!

Three words… FRIEDCHICKENSKINS!!! *drops mic* A friend of mine lives walking distance from the Mid-City location. so when the place popped up a few months ago he pestered me about going with him. I totally wasn’t up for dinner on a weeknight but I’m glad I gave in. I had the scallops which were cooked to perfection. He ordered the porkchop that came with risotto I believe. We ordered a few cocktails as well… can’t go wrong with any of them honestly. Didn’t have dessert, but I always hear folks RAVE about the fried cupcakes. The atmosphere and décor are amazing. Its a cute little spot! A must visit in the ever growing Mid-City area.

Nice historic building that they did little remodeling too and fortunately preserved much of the historic nature of the old shotgun building. Due to the historic nature of the building the dining space is quite small and intimate which could be a good or bad thing depending on what you’re looking for. The menu is very concise and the plastic chairs would be best replaced by some wooden ones eventually. This is the first and only place I’ve had a hot shrimp remoulade salad and I’ve got to say I find I prefer the cooler versions. They have a decent selection of items but its a bit on the pricey side considering the portion size. They serve some nice bread and butter with your meal and the hostess seems to often double as the only server which leads to decent but not always quick service. Overall this probably wouldn’t be my first choice for a nice restaurant as it seems to often lack bang for the buck but it is one of the few nicer dining options in Mid-City.

We stumbled upon this treasure during We Live to Eat Restaurant Week. And I’m glad we did. The bartender graciously gave us our first impression with his impeccable mixology skills. We each had two original specialty cocktails and I had a taste of all four. My initial thought was that if this guy could serve me a(peach infused) whiskey beverage that didn’t make me gag, he certainly has a gift like no other bartender I’ve ever encountered. I’ve never been one to enjoy whiskey, but his magical ability transformed it into something miraculous. We started our meal with Gumbo, Shrimp & Saffron and a Wedge Salad. The flavors were spot on and everything was perfect. I had the quail and he had the the pork. Both entrees were incredible. As for dessert, no matter the route you choose, cherry tart, cheesecake, or something else, you won’t go wrong. Everything was amazing and we will definitely be back. And that’s a huge compliment with the amount of culinary dining experiences in NOLA. It’s rare that a restaurant stands out this much.

I thoroughly enjoyed my first visit here and it’s been on my list to try for some time. I will definitely be giving it a second try. We had an 8:30 reservation, arrived about 20 minutes early, and were seated about 10 minutes after we arrived. The ambiance is really nice here. It’s a small shotgun style house with eclectic décor. I believe we were in the«main» dining room which is quite small but it looks like there may be some side rooms as well. We ordered beer and wine and found there to be a small but nice selection of both. We then ordered our entrees. I had the ribeye and my friend the pork chop. Both were outstanding. I tasted the pork chop and was amazed at how tender and juicy it was for the size. My ribeye was also fantastic and served with some very flavorful potatoes and mushrooms. The only strange part to the evening was the frequency with which our water was refilled. And I know some folks may not consider it an issue… but about every 3 minutes the guy was refilling every glass at the table regardless of how full it was. There’s a point where this just starts to become disruptive to the conversation at the table. Once our drinks and food arrived, this died off, but I found it hysterical at first!
