Good music, mostly all EDM, decent priced drinks. My biggest complaint is my first encounter with the bartender Derick. I had a tab opened with the other bartender Kirk. I asked Derick for a beer and a vodka soda and asked for him to put it on my tab. Which you would think is a normal question a bartender receives. Well Derick rolls his eyes, says seriously with a rude smart tone, then storms off to the other cash register starts talking to Kirk and pointing at us with an annoyed look. Then comes back and lectures us how they can’t split tips there, and if you have a tab you need to have that bartender serve you. Then he looked mad all night, seriously just quit if you hate bartending that much, he pretty much ruined the rest of our night there. The worst customer service I’ve ever experienced.

It’s disappointing about the low level of service received tonight. I arrived with 3 others before the cover charge. Due to the New Orleans smoking laws, 2 friends and I had to step outside to smoke/vape. I was able to re-enter without incident, however one friend was asked to pay the cover, but stated she couldn’t because our other friend was watching her purse at the bar. The 3rd person wasn’t so lucky. In order to avoid a scene, he reluctantly paid – and even after our bartender told her he’s been there, she didn’t give him his money back.

One of the best times I’ve had in my life! I am straight, so I went in thinking they wouldn’t want to party with me. But unlike straight clubs, no one was worried about anyone else! Everyone just got drunk, danced, and had a good time! One of the few places that takes people under 21. The cover was only $ 5! Very reasonable liquor prices as well!

Home of the laziest gogoboys ever!!! They just stand there and expect you to give them money. That doesn’t fly in Los Angeles. What a waste of time and money!

Oz was one of the few places that did not charge a cover Saturday night of Mardi Gras, so our group gravitated there, and we are glad we did! The dance floor was hype and the stage was open for dancing! The music selection was great. I guess this is a good thing, but a stabbing occurred while we were there, but we only found out about it the day after, so good job to Oz for covering that up because there would have been panic on the dancefloor. Anyways, great venue. The drinks are a bit on the expensive side($ 7/shot).

I gotta admit, this place is fun as hell. A group of girls and I came a few times during a recent trip. They have a great happy hour on the weekends, and drag bingo Sat night. Good music, good times.

I’ve hesitated to review Oz for some time now because my experiences here have been such a blur. I’ve finally decided that this is a good thing. If you’re looking for a whole night of letting go and dancing like crazy, or even just 20 minutes, than this is the place to go. Oz is one of the pillars of «gay Bourbon» and it offers some of the best of gay New Orleans — friendliness, openness, and always down for whatever-ness. There have been times when I’ve passed on Oz because the cover has been steep($ 30 on special nights), but otherwise, when I’m looking for a crazy, good time surrounded by likeminded people, Oz is a good bet.

My girlfriends and I were in NOLA for my bachelorette party and happened upon this place New Years Day. There was a big college football game that day so Bourbon was packed with about a million chanting dudebros; all the bars were so packed it wasn’t even worth trying to get into any of them. Except for this oasis of everything that was right with the world. They charged us $ 5 a head to get in — no big deal. The music was heavy-hitting bass and the vibe was awesome. Everyone was really friendly and the drinks were cheap; what more could you ask for? It was pretty busy but not packed and there was plenty of room to dance. I liked that they charged cover, it keeps people out that probably shouldn’t be in there anyways and it keeps the place from getting too overcrowded. The bathrooms kinda sucked, two stalls and it was co-ed but it didn’t ruin my time. The best part? No drunk frats trying to grind on you. Give this place a try next time you’re in The Big Easy.

We originally walked into Oz for a rest break thanks to its close proximity to shops on Saint Ann. Fast forward an hour and we were several shots deep thanks to Oz’s ridiculously low prices(~$ 10 for 4 shots) and completely welcoming vibe. A couple nights later, we ended up back at Oz after a tour and happened upon a drag show. This was my first-ever drag show and it looked like everyone was having a great time, plus all of the performers were so good! Go, Adele! This is definitely a great spot on Bourbon to visit if you’re looking for a fun, divey and low-cost bar.

Apparently there is no bartender working today… Sat at the bar for a while but there was nobody working… Headed across the street to the Pub and had a great experience.

If you would have told me how much time I’d be spending at a New Orleans gay bar and how much fun I’d be having, I wouldn’t have believed you. I believe my group initially stumbled into Oz on Friday afternoon looking for a restroom. A few hours later we were fairly loaded from a cheap happy hour thanks to the bartender’s excellent shot making skills. Some of the group went back another time for gay bingo and walked out pretty well off in prizes including comp dollars and wine bottles. Returning one last time on Sunday night to use the said comp dollars, we caught a live drag show. These performers were on their game. Who wouldn’t have a fun time when watching a good drag show? Thanks for the memories, Oz.

Intersting facts: — Bingo on Saturday nights(6pm.) My partners in crime(Tina T. and Dolores G.) won $ 75 bar tab & a bottle of wine. I didn’t. It was my first BINGO game, and boy O boy it was so much fun. — Sunday night, Drag show performance: Many big names from Adele to Lady Gaga. Obvious facts — You’ll find cheap drinks. — Good-sized dance floor. — and charming bartenders. In fact — Oz has great happy hour special: All drinks ½ price 4 – 8PM Everyday! Four Unilocal

I’ll reiterate most of the previous reviews and say that we stopped in here a couple of times and it was completely hit or miss. The cover was pretty disappointing and almost made us stop in somewhere else, but the dance floor lured us in. A pretty large dance floor and good music, but not enough people there to keep the party hopping. Drink prices and quality were average.

As a straight woman I don’t see any need to come to a gay bar unless my gay friends ask me to, which is how I found myself smack in the middle of the craziness of Bourbon Street. Loud music, neon, dancing. I got pushed out of the way by some of the drag queens so they could get to the bar– just push right back, people are friendly but you have to sort of earn it. All the men dancing on the bar are well hung– and unfortunately completely hairless. I’ve got a thing for bears.

Good place to drink and dance but there is one main problem… COVER! Why would I pay money to go into a bar where there’s 100 plus more around without a cover. It’s really a shame because this place is great and plays good music. So I like it but not if there is a cover.

I was there last night with my friends. I had a decent time but there were a few things that ticked me off. The people selling the test tube shots were trying to rip people off. First the test tube shots were $ 4.00 then another person was selling them for $ 5.00 then another person was selling them for $ 6.00. I never did figure out just exactly how much they were. I bought one from one guy who then took off with my $ 10.00 bill and wasn’t until I went over and asked him for my change did he say«oh yeah, here you go». Then another person sold me a shot for $ 6.00 and said that tips are appreciated as he took my $ 20.00 and was hoping to keep the whole $ 20.00. I don’t appreciate the fact that these people were preying on out-of-towners, coming up with their own prices, then wanting a tip on top of that and trying to rip people out of their money. Other than that, the bartenders were great and the atmosphere was fun just beware of the people walking around selling shots. I will not buy shots from those people ever again if I go back. I don’t mind spending money and having a great time but it’s not cool when an establishment allows their employees to accelerate the parting of your money as fast as they can in a disingenuous way.

My friends and I head to Oz every time we are on bourbon street because we have some little hope that there will be some other lesbians there. NOPE. This is for drag shows, gay boys, and bachelorette parties. I’m not from New Orleans but this is my seventh or eighth time in the city in the past 2 years… Never a gay girl in sight. BUT there are cheap-ish drinks. Every Wednesday night they have a drag show, which is great. The ladies always seem to get dollars from me. They put on a great show. But if you know where the lesbians hide, let us know.

From what I can remember, I have fun when I come here ;). It’s much more of a dance club than the Pub across the street. There’s usually plenty of eye candy around and plenty of room to shake it if that’s what you want to do. It’s usually LOUD inside, as a dance club should be. Bartenders do a surprisingly good job of keeping the drinks flowing, even when it gets slammed. Cover charges are always reasonable, except when there’s a big event going on(Pride, Decadence, etc.). Drinks are fairly priced considering the location and are usually pretty strong from my experience. Definitely a must-do if in the gayborhood.

As soon as we walked in, BAM men shaking it in your face. Ok. Ok. I felt like I was blushing, but a perfect spot tot take our bachelorette. It was a $ 5 cover, and drinks were reasonable for Bourbon St. The guys work for tips, so don’t expect to get a little show and not tip them. There was usually 2 – 4 guys on the bar at any given time. Being a gay bar, the dancers don’t pay too much attention to the ladies. The bathroom was über disgusting. Wet floor, smelly and dirty. Oh my gawd I couldn’t quite stand that bathroom. Oh, and despite NOLA being a smoke free city, people were smoking inside Oz. the dance floor was completely packed, too. Overall, fairly fun place to see some hot guys dance. Too bad it’s all the way on the end of Bourbon
