Drunk girls from Oakland 100% approve of the Friday night free stand up comedy show. I just saw it and the whole audience was cracking up, especially at the ass eating, über and marijuana jokes. But don’t worry there was some good old fashion race and marriage jokes for everyone.

I’m sorry, I cannot recommend the Improv 101 class at La Nuit. This review does not apply to the comedy shows there, as I have not seen them. I only know that the class I took was a real disappointment.

True improv is really hard to do and be funny. These guys care and we’re good at gettin the crowd involved. Is worth checkin out if your in the area. Food nearby and bar right next door.

Was a little nervous coming to the Comedy Sportz show. But it was hilarious! I was literally weeping with laughter. Brought my older kids and they had a blast(and even were part of the show!). Keep up the good work guys!

Hilarity abounds! I didn’t know what to expect going into this, but I’m like hey, who doesn’t like a comedy show, right? I had no idea it was going to be interactive with the audience, and I absolutely loved it! The Other Bar next door(which is another new found love of mine) lets you order drinks and take them over to the show. The liquid courage is definitely helpful when it comes to audience participation. I love the intimacy of the whole room and small stage. We even stayed for the follow up comedy acts. Great place, so happy to see this part of Freret doing so well!

This place is a gem. The theater is located in a great up and coming area– so you can grab dinner or have a drink before or after the show. My personal favorite is The Other Bar right next door– where you can challenge your friends to some free skee ball or pac man. La Nuit is small and intimate, which I personally love– big comedy clubs kinda take away from the experience. Open mic night is super fun, it’s all kinds of people, all kinds of acts. Going weekly is fun, because you can see how the comedians grow, which is refreshing to say the least. It’s a great Friday night adventure for only $ 5.00, I highly recommend it.

Definitely an intimate little theater. I’ve been here for a couple of events, but never for a comedy show. The venue can be noisy(because of the A/C) and it’s really hard to be anonymous since it seats maybe 40 people. But the chairs are good(which isn’t a given since I disrupted a performance in a different tiny theater in the FQ when a chair leg fell off in the middle of act 2), and the location is really convenient to me. It does seem like the folks who rent out the space struggle with the mechanicals a bit. Perhaps more direction is needed on how to get the sound system, lighting and a/c to work properly.

I went to this place a couple of times. They had a few good acts on. The theater itself was cramped and the a/c wasn’t working that night. Funny show though. The last time I went though was a bad experience. Me and one of my friends went. My friend was really drunk he kept booing and heckling the people up on stage. I left in embarrassment, and he was thrown out! Not really their fault but just adds to the stigma of the place.

It wasn’t for me. I planned a night out with my wife. I thought a night of live comedy sounded good. But this place was a huge disappointment. No A/C, holes in the walls, steel folding chairs. It was not at all what I was hoping for. It wasn’t at all what is advertised

La Nuit is THE place in New Orleans for comedy(we’re talkin’ improv AND stand-up, kids). End of story. You know who agrees with me? World famous movie star Zach Galifianakis!!! He was there the last time I performed on La Nuit’s stage. Not too shabby, you guys… not too shabby at all!

I lived across from this place for a year and never once ventured in due to the covered windows, but was always curious and thought that I would enjoy the open mic night. I went a few Fridays ago for the improv show and planned to stay for the open mic. It was $ 10 a pop for the improv show and although they had their funny moments it was obvious that they were floundering for material the majority of the show. After 40 minutes they stopped for what I assumed was an intermission, a time to have a stiff drink and get their shit back together, but instead they said«Yeah, we’re done, come next door and drink with us. Since the show ended way early, and the comedians weren’t nearly funny enough for me to want to have a few pops with after the show we decided to roll before the open mic night(which we would have had to wait for for 3 hours to start). The venue was too small for me to conveniently get up and leave without being noticed since there were about 8 people in the whole audience. I kept looking around during the show wondering if there was a way to play it off like I was going next door to get another drink, but the intimacy and the embarrassment I felt from watching them crash and burn had me glued to my seat Awwwwkkwwwarrrd. Stay home and watch Whose Line Is It Anyway for free, y’all.

La Nuit is a cool little venue that could be awesome with a little work. The theatre itself is pretty old and gets hot during the summer. The sound isn’t all that great, but that’s not a huge deal, as the room is really small, so I’ve never had trouble hearing anything. Also, in order to get to the bar, you have to go outside into the box office area. It makes you feel weird when you have to get up in the middle of someone’s set in order to go get another drink. I understand that there’s nothing they can really do about that, but it would be nice if they had a drink area in the actual theatre or maybe a cocktail waitress, as Jess suggested. The box office has a nice little«lounge» area that you can hang out in before the show, if you don’t feel like standing outside. This is definitely a place I will return to, especially for the right performer. I’m glad that New Orleans has a comedy scene and there is a venue for new comics to polish their act.

easily the worst comedy improv show I have ever seen(including high school theater.) there were only two girls– one who I think actually owns the place– and it was painful. They kept blocking what each other were saying, which is a big improv no no, and unfortunately the theatre was too small for us to leave unnoticed. I really wish they had been better, but it was not.

Reading other reviews, I am starting to think I went on a bad night. Overall, it was hot, the beer was too expensive next door, and the comedians weren’t funny. We went on a Friday night for Improv, and we left maybe 45 minutes in, just because we didn’t find it in the least bit entertaining.

I’ve been here a few times, mostly for improv shows. My most recent visit was a sketch comedy show. I much prefer the improv shows – I’ve nearly fallen out of my seat laughing at them. The sketch comedy had a few really good pieces, and some that weren’t all that funny. But thus is the nature of live comedy. Sometimes things fall flat. The theater itself is inadequately air-conditioned(window units), so when it’s warm out, you will leave sweaty. It’s pretty tiny, but in fairly good condition. They have an interesting painted tin ceiling. The associated bar(Box Office Lounge) is a neat place. The drink prices are decent, and there’s couches to lounge around on.

La Nuit was kind enough to host the March 2011 Nerd Nite NOLA. The main theater area was cozy and, since spring is here, warm but it wasn’t too bad since there was plenty of breathing room for the group. The theater’s setup includes a screen and projector along with hookups for presentations. Having the bar next door wasn’t too bad, and the weather was nice enough. I’m sure if it was raining I may have felt different, or at least like the smokers you see huddled in a downpour to get their fix. We also learned of a couple future shows, so I’m looking forward to making another trip out sometime.

This place is a gift to the City of New Orleans. I’ve been to the top Comedy Theaters in the country and LaNuit is on the cutting edge of stand up, sketch and improv comedy. It’s always a pleasure to visit this place whether I’m performing in a festival, teaching workshops or just taking in the local comedy. Great drinks at the Box Office Bar next door. Everyone at this theater is ready to make sure you have a great time.

i went here last night part of the nola comedy fest. positives: the lounge area and the bathroom, and host JJ negatives: theatre too small fit only about 40+ peeps and lack of ventilation.

I’ve never laughed so hard! The improv shows were as good as any I’ve seen in bigger cities. Smoke-free, which is awesome. Drinks were cheap. Read the AC comments– I guess they fix it because it was cool when I went and on the night I went, a guy from the Jimmy Fallon Show showed up. This is my new favorite place!

The performance was amateur hour at best and one guy’s personal nightmare at its worst. There were some really good moments, and some really BAD ones. I have no problem with trying out material on an audience, but enough with the masterbation, child pedophilia, date rape, and nun p*ssy jokes. We drove all the way uptown, the least you can do is memorize your jokes. It was an «interesting» performance, but definitely a comedy of errors. Their website says they’ve been voted best comedy spot and they teach a kids’ camp. Scary if there isn’t anything better in NOLA. P. S. No A/C and it was like 100 degrees. I hope my ticket money goes for an A/C unit!
