One of favorite places in the city to go with a group and it never disappoints! I have been coming here since they opened and have had the opportunity to try a lot of things on the menu and have never had anything bad. The best part is the restaurant is also a wine store with a pretty good selection and reasonable prices. One of the highlights is walking around the place grabbing a bottle and returning to table where the waiter opens and pours it for you and your guests.

Thank you Marcello’s…Had long weekend in New Orleans and what a surprise to find Marcello’s across the street from our hotel. We love good food… I mean LOVE good food and travelled outside the city to «hunt» down the non-tourist(and non-food network) treasures, the search was right under our nose at Marcello’s. Love the concept of grabbing your own wine, sommelier was great in pointing me in superb direction leaving us with an incredible Italian Cab/Sangiovese(Rompicollo) for exceptionally good value(although that was not the goal). Our server was just a sweet person who loved their food and could communicate just how good each dish was… I wish I had her name as she is the best type of service minded person, real and NOT fake! Thank you. Could write a paragraph on each plate but will simply say this level of quality and goodness does not happen by chance, the team are pros at all levels, the flavours were memorable and leaves me wanting to find a reason to return to to New Orleans. Loved it but don’t take my word for it!!!

Marcello’s is one of my favorite restaurants in New Orleans — a city that has a lot of my all time favorite restaurants! It’s a humble little place — they know their food is great, but they don’t feel the need to impress. Their food is always great — I always get the Veal Molli, and my co-workers raved about the A.O.C. and the bolognese. Also recommend the Caesar salad and their complimentary bread. Part of the fun is picking out your wine — make sure to give your server a description of what you’re looking for(flavor profile and price point) and they’ll walk you through the restaurant to show the bottles or bring a selection back to your table. But what really stands out is the service — I’ve been there probably 5 times in the past year, and each time the team there has provided a fantastic experience. They’ve recommended fantastic bottles of wine, accommodated groups of 20 at a last minute notice with a fixed menu, and happily re-seated our party when a group of 10 people turned into a group of 6 people(and showed up 45 min late). They have made stressful situations into enjoyable evenings, and I cannot thank the staff enough for that!

I love Italian! It never disappoints and neither did Marcello’s. First time — with a group of 7 people for dinner. Service was amazing. Food was amazing. But it was so long ago, I can’t remember what we ordered or the price to comment on it. My second time here was with a friend during the day. No wait. And it happened to be happy hour so half off cocktails. Even better! Complimentary bread — It was hard. I only took one bite. Didn’t want to waste my carbs on it. Lol. Jk. Eggplant Parmigiana — omg. So amazing. Order this! Eggplant was fried PERFECTLY. I did have to add salt to the pasta, but only because I enjoy my food pretty salty. I wish I asked for crushed red pepper because this would have made the dish even better than what it was. Lamb ragu — my friend got this dish and said he liked it and that it was flavorful. I didn’t try bc I just recently gave up meat. But I trust what he says. You should too! Unless you don’t like lamb, then don’t. I will definitely come back when I decide I can eat meat again. And I can’t wait!

My sister and I were there yesterday before we went to the YLC Wednesdays in Lafayette Square. Had a couple of drinks and 2 appetizers we were lucky enough to be there during happy hour ½ price drinks and appetizers the food and drinks were wonderful it was a beautiful day nice sunny breezy great day for eating and drinking outside.
Friday lunch review I went with a lunch party of four on the 1st Jazz Fest Weekend Friday. I remember another Italian restaurant that was in this same location a few years ago. While that place was also fine, this is definitely something new. Food was very good. We shared calamari and mussels to start. Both were made well and tasted good. The fried calamari was what you would expect, but the mussels were prepared especially nice, a very flavorful broth and not overdone. The entrees included classic items(e.g. Veal Parm) and more interesting fish preparations. We enjoyed everything. Service was very nice, friendly and helpful. The wine selections are incredible. There are some incredibly interesting cult finds(Scarecrow) which were not in my budget, but fun the look at. However, there are also quality wines representing just about every style and budget. I will be back.

We celebrated a friend’s engagement here and it was an absolute delight! Claire, our server, was wonderful and explained a number of dishes to my friend who was visiting from India(and naturally had not heard of some of the menu items). We had drank quite a bit throughout the weekend so we did not indulge in any wine but this place is definitely a heaven for wine lovers! Claire mentioned that bottles are sold at less than liquor store mark up which makes for a great deal. We did do a bottle of prosecco to celebrate the engagement which was superb. Now, on to the food… absolutely delicious! I have never dined anywhere where everyone at the table has finished their meal! Seriously, Claire picked up four empty plates from our table! I’m a fan of Alfredo sauce but was drawn to the veal parmigiana – Claire was able to sub in Alfredo for me and subbed in marinara sauce with the clam pasta which is supposed to come with white sauce that my hubby chose(we like opposite sauces, go figure!) My veal was so so tender, the portions are perfect. Tiramisu was a nice touch at the end but was a little heavy on the whip cream. Ambiance is casually romantic(does that make sense?) I saw people in casual clothes/tennis shoes in the front but in the back where we sat, all the men had on jackets and ladies were in heels. It’s not stuffy by any means and would make for a perfect choice to celebrate anything and everything! Price was reasonable for a «special occasion» meal – about $ 40/person including tip.

I was going to meet the friend of a friend and initially she wanted to go for French food. I told my friend I was willing to go for whatever type of food they decided on-I was then called at my hotel telling me that we were going to Marcello’s, which is located along the St. Charles Street trolley. It was a fairly large place, nicely decorated. We were seated immediately and placed our drink order. I was very happy that they decided to go Italian. My friends ended up ordering pasta with various seafood combinations and I go the veal scallopini with brown sauce. It was delicious. I ended the meal with a cup of regular coffee. My friends did the same. It was an excellent meal and a wonderful experience. We were stuffed. I would recommend and return.

Every time that I’ve been here the food and service have been great. On this recent visit I tried the Chicken Palermo. For dessert I love the Budino. They have a huge wine selection.

Visited Marcello’s during my trip to NOLA. Chose this place for my bday dinner and I am so glad I did. Everything, and I mean every single thing, from appetizers-entrée-dessert-wine was amazing, service was also excellent. Brussel sprouts, calamari were so yumms as appetizers! Eggplant parmigiana was also delicious. Wide variety of wine for every taste, we were assisted by the manager and tried«Bussola»; which complimented our meals very well. I probably won’t be visiting again soon as I am from FL, but you should definitely check this place out!

I had such bad luck with food in New Orleans this time around. But this Italian gem saved the day. The spaghetti bolognese didn’t disappoint and the roast chicken and risotto my fiancé had was probably some of the best chicken we’ve ever had. Plus, the wine is AMAZING. Wish we could’ve fit more food as I would’ve loved to end it with tiramisu.

We had dinner outside on the sidewalk on a very nice night. Our server, Wilfredo, helped to make the experience great. He had some great recommendations on the menu. The eggplant with goat cheese appetizer was really good. There was a hint of sweetness that really set the flavors off. As an entrée, the Marsala Pork Cheek was highly recommended by our server. It did not disappoint! It is one of the better dishes I have had here in New Orleans. It was so tender and went really well with the creamy polenta. Overall, this was an excellent dining experience. We will be back for sure.

Let me start by saying I LOVETHEFOOD! Everything was perfect. Atmosphere was also very nice. It was my first time visiting Nola And Even though this wasnt the typical«tourist» type of place… The food was still amazing! The reason i gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was the waitress made me feel somewhat rushed! Cant win them all i guess.

If you’re a wine person then this place will have you salivating. They loads of wines in racks all around the restaurant that you browse and select your bottle to take back to the table for consumption. I ordered the tomato basil soup thinking that would be a good option as a vegetarian. With no description of the soup I thought this soup would consist of you know tomatoes, basil, spices, maybe some cream. What I found upon tasting the soup was bits of meat tucked into the soup. Another deceitful soup with meat bits for the unsuspecting vegetarian. The eggplant parmigiana was decently prepared and wasn’t chewy which can always be a concern with eggplant dishes. The side of pasta and marinara were nice to have along with it but the marinara was pretty bland for being from an Italian restaurant. Entrees ranged from $ 20 – 32. It took them a while to get our order and they seemed like they were scrambling before that. I had to flag down our server as we were waiting for around 15 – 20 minutes for them to get our order and we were hungry! They did do a great job with bringing out the entrees for our small dinner party at the same time.

I am so glad I finally was able to dine here. I walk by it sometimes and tell myself«Man, I should really come here.» It looks small from the outside, but there’s a HUGE room in the back. The wine service is unique — you walk around the restaurant and pick out your bottle of wine from all the racks everywhere. It’s a nice idea, as long as you don’t have to interrupt someone else’s meal because you want to see a bottle near their table. The food was on point and great. We had the liver pâté and artichoke hearts to start. Almost everything looked great on the menu — and I tried bites of everyone’s entrée at the table. All of them were great. I don’t think you could actually order a bad entrée. I can’t wait to return!

Every week during the spring, I would walk past Marcello’s on my way to the concerts during Wednesday at the square and I would say that I wanted to go there for a special occasion. Last week I finally went with a group for a fun night out. We took a gamble on getting a last minute reservation and they were able to squeeze us in. The service was top notch from both our waitress as well as the manager who helped us pick out our wine. Their wine selection is a big feature of the restaurant. Wine bottles line the walls and they encourage you to walk around and check out the full offerings before making a selection. They pride themselves on having excellent prices on the full bottles. It is a bit odd to walk very close to other tables while perusing the selection, but I never felt like we were invading anyone’s personal space too much. We were torn between a Riesling and a Pinot Grigio and the manager helped us choose a blend of the 2 types called Gavi di Gavi. We thoroughly enjoyed the choice and consumed 2 bottles of the moderate priced wine($ 30/bottle). For appetizers we chose the Zucchini Fritters which were a huge hit at our table. Those disappeared very quickly. We also had the eggplant campanade(spelling?). It was also very tasty, but not as big a hit as those fritters! For my entrée, I meant to order the Veal Palermo, but in my haste, I said Veal Parmesan– which is my favorite Italian meal. I think my brain was on auto pilot and just rattled off my favorite without realizing it. I didn’t even realize it until the dishes were brought out. But, I was NOT disappointed because the Veal Parm was excellent, as I fully expected it would be. Plus, now I have a valid and urgent reason to go back very soon and order the other dish. I highly recommend Marcello’s and recommend calling for a reservation. They fill up quickly — even on a weeknight.

Stopped in for lunch today to grab a bite to eat and Italian was on the brain so I figured I’d give Marcello’s a try. This place was pretty crowded with guests at noon… considering they open at 11:30. So its probably wise that you make a reservation. I sat at the bar and ordered the chicken parm and a glass of Pinot Grigio. Simple and sweet. The food came out quickly and was piping hot and fresh. The breading on the chicken was seasoned very well and the sauce was really good. Its just that there wasn’t much of it. Asked for a side of additional sauce which set me back $ 3! Service was ok. The bartender was nice, but not very overly attentive. The menu seems to have something on there for EVERYONE and looks like it could def be a birthday dinner /girls night out future dining option.

I have to give this place another try because I want to like it but I don’t Man friend & I started with the crudo(16 $). It came with salmon & tuna, both dressed a little differently. It was okay. The tuna had slivers of grapefruit on it. I did bite down on a seed though, so be careful.(Not a pleasant surprise). We also ordered the eggplant caponata(13 $). The flavors of this appetizer reminded me of pepper jelly jam! It was so okay. I enjoyed it much more on the bread they give to you rather than the crostinis that come with it. The tomato basil soup(8 $) was split for us & probably my favorite of the night! I broke the crostinis into the soup for texture and really enjoyed it. Man friend had the porkcheek(27 $) as an entrée. It was underwhelming and bland he reported. It was heavy dish when I tried it. He wasn’t able to finish it at the restaurant & said it tasted a lot better when we got home. Maybe the flavors needed to sit ? I chose the tritone(29 $). I liked it.(but there’s a but) But it wasn’t anything special. I don’t feel like I can find these flavors only at Marcello. The wine service was unique. I’ve never been anywhere similar. Will definitely update when I try Marcello’s again.
