Not very many options, especially for gluten free vegans. Could only order steamed spinach and plantains since I don’t eat rice. The beans were mixed with rice. No veggie patties!!! Pricey if you’re vegan. Ambience was beautiful! Outdoor seating on a nice day. Don’t plan to go if the weather is rainy.

Have had their jerk chicken and their chicken curry, both are excellent in taste and value. I think I liked the curry better, the sauce was nice to mix with the beans and rice. They were very helpful behind the counter, they picked out a Jamaican fruit drink, mango carrot, that I never would have gotten but was very delicious. Portion sizes are very large, each plate comes in a to go container heaping with rice and beans, plantains and spinach. Make sure you add some of the hot sauce they have at the counter, it was awesome. Great experience, my favorite spot in Roux Carre

Last year my Lady and I, accompanied with two of our close friends, were leaving a Jazz Bar on Frenchmen Street around two in the morning, when I smelled one of the best things I’ve to ever waft across my nose. Intrigued by the smell and propelled by the drunk munchies I conspired with my fellow travelers to investigate this awe-inspiring aroma. Around the corner and down the street, there it was in all its magnificence, shrouded in a heavenly charcoal smoke aura, was Johnny’s Jamaican Grill. We all got the Jerk Chicken, with greens and rice. When I tell you that this was the best Jerk chicken you will ever have, some of you reading this you will enter a state of denial. You will draw apon memories of grandma slaving away in the kitchen producing savory succulent jerk chicken that your family has been raving about for decades. You will call me a fool, fabulist, perhaps stone cold liar. However, once you take your first juicy earth shattering bite, the Heavens will open, the Angels will rejoice your tastebuds will dance and your stomach will be the happiest its ever been, because you my friend have just ate THEBEST Jerk chicken in existence.

This is going to be a short review! I was a tad intoxicated but I do remember that this is the BEST chicken I’ve ever had in my life!!! It was amazing! I’m going to stalk this truck. I want more and soon! I went back a couple weeks later with nothing to drink. It was still amazing and for $ 9 I got chicken, greens and rice. I will opt for more greens less rice next time. He’s super friendly too. There was a line and it appears as if I wasn’t the only one who made a special trip to see him.

This is probably my favorite thing to eat in the city. We always hit it by the mint late at night. My guests almost always want to go back there for a 2nd meal. We have usually already eaten when we end up there — stuffing ourselves on the hood of our car, for our fourth meal of the day. It’s worth it!

We found Johnny on S. Peters St. across from The Howlin’ Wolf on Tuesday night. The charcoal aroma from his grill can be smelled a mile away. We shared the veggie burger! It was a tender and seasoned to perfection. I honestly thought it was a real hamburger. It only took him maybe 10minutes to complete which J thought was impressive. The Great flame broiled taste with fresh bun also deserves mentioning. His menu included grilled chicken and jerk chicken. Very innovative concept for a city like NOLA. I’m looking forward to my own next time

The trend of food trucks offering specialty foods is one that I fully support. Prior to trying this food truck, every vendor I had tried was Mexicanish food. Imagine my surprise when I was heading to Frenchman one night and found this truck. Since it was a Jamaican truck, I decided to try the jerk chicken. It came with a drumstick, thigh and a side of rice. I was expecting some sort of easier to handle items like tenders, but absolutely loved it. In fact, it is the best jerk chicken I have ever tried. I don’t remember the exact cost, but I do remember it being reasonable. I look forward to my next chance to find, and try, this food truck’s offerings.

What kind of weirdo goes to a Jamaican food truck and gets a veggie burger? Um… I do! I guess I really wasn’t in the mood for jerk chicken when I decided to mosey up to this truck for a bite to eat. The veggie burger wasn’t bad. It certainly got the job done. I was starving when I noticed this truck! I would try it again and I would probably get the jerk chicken and not the veggie burger.

Man, this guy’s Jamaican jerk chicken is the bomb! And he’s super friendly(he always remembers me, even if it’s been a while.) I’ve been eating his chicken since he was selling it out of the back of an F-150. He’s got a real food truck now, it’s usually on Frenchmen St. somewhere randomly Thurs-Sat…BUT: The last two times I’ve gone down there specifically searching for him(on the weekend even!) he’s been nowhere to be found(his usual spots are Frenchmen & Chartres, Frenchmen & Dauphine, and occasionally on Esplanade by the Mint)…I heard they’ve been running the street vendors off of Frenchmen St… which is sad, but the REAL question is: Where’s Johnny? (from what I heard he can still usually be found at the Chartres spot on Thursday for reggae night.)
