I was mourning the death of a friend that took his own life. This was the place to go to do that. The bartender working that night was really nice and knew exactly when to ask me for a beer.

A pub with 5 beers on tap? All I know is I saw a German roach walking on the tap handle. It’s cute and quaint otherwise

Been to this bar a few times! Makes for a great alternative to Half Moon if you are looking for something more low key. Friends have told me dogs are welcome but will definitely leave a tip when I confirm this with a manager on my next visit. The environment is cool and cozy, drinks are the same price and same availability as any other nearby bar. Music here can be on the bipolar side, I definitely don’t mind it and after a drink or two I’m totally digging tunes! If you want a quick bite to eat I believe the bar serves some food but there is plenty of options nearby. Enjoy

Are you trying to go to a bar to get laid? Go to the Saint. Are you trying to go to a bar to get drunk? Come here. Yes, this is a locals bar but luckily the locals are some of the friendliest people around, unless your taste in music sucks and you monopolize the jukebox. In that case they will turn on you like mayo in the sun. The prices are average and the bartenders are cheeky. They are mostly young attractive girls, so If you are one of those guys that likes to get drunk and harass the bartender you will most likely have 5 to 10 locals ready to cave your skull in. Oh, and the corner seat near the cigarette machine belongs to Dr. Porter. When he shows up, sit somewhere else.

I like this place. GREAT for watching Saints games! If Blake is working, he’ll manage a football pool and they even serve food when the Saints are on. It’s small but not crowded. There’s a comfy couch that should contain a tv in the couch area but do not. Still, this is a cool place.

This is a really cozy quiet bar located near the beginning of Magazine in sort of a neutral zone of quietness. I find this an excellent talking bar. If you have some issues to hammer out or wanna spill your guts out for past sins, you can do it hear without shouting. I came here initially because I had to pee really bad and we stayed and ordered a few beers and started the vent session. This isn’t a place I seeked out, but for what its worth, I am glad that I got to try it. If your going to eat at Juans or something close by, walk out your food and dip your big water head in here for a few drafts and talk.

This is a small, intimate bar. Nice selection of beers in bottles and a handful of higher end selections on draft. Very much a neighborhood establishment. The regulars are very friendly, conversations entertaining and the music that is often selected on the jukebox creates public sing-a-longs or private lip synching.

What I really like about this bar is how uncool it is. From the generic name to posters of the rat pack on the wall, this place is hipster kryptonite: utterly devoid of all irony. It’s the exact opposite of the saint, a dive bar for people who don’t like dive bar clientele, It’s a bar for serious drinkers that pretends to be a cocktail lounge. a great place for adults to gather and drink. I guarantee that a cool kid won’t last long enough to down a fuckin’ shandy in this place once Doug plays«MacArthur Park» on the jukebox(it’s like pepper spray to those kids). A lot of what the reviews below say are true, this is a regular’s bar but so is every bar in the lower garden district, the big difference here is that everyone has an opportunity to become a regular here. all you got to do is keep showing up. It’s like the«meatballs» of bars. gets kinda crowded at peak hours on the weekends so show up either to pre-game it or for a night-cap. 4 beers on tap, across from sophie b wright park with several bars and restaurants within 2 blocks.

Was there last night. It’s a decent place. A little slow when I arrived(like 630 or so) but picked up as the night went on. Very cool bartender who was more than happy to chat during down time, yet was always on point when someone needed a drink. I’m moving to the neighborhood, and this bar will certainly be one of my more frequented places.

Solid neighborhood watering hole. The bartender was fine and the crowd was lively but I felt like I was crashing the party… not really sure why. Drinks were affordable; there was a decent selection; it wasn’t too smokey when I was here but then again it was more like 9ish than the wee super drunken smokerific hours. Maybe if this was all my friends hung out…

GDP is the place I often end up in the wee hours of the morning. I have several friends who live close by and this is where we go when we need to walk somewhere and walk back. It’s a friendly neighborhood bar and not much more. There is a jukebox, a decent selection of beers on tap, and an overall quiet atmosphere. As others have said, it gets pretty smoky in here. It does have decent bathrooms though, so that’s a plus. Overall, it’s a decent neighborhood bar but nothing special to make you go out of your way.

This is by far my favorite bar in New Orleans. It’s always quiet, and they have my favorite beer on tap– Cane Brake. The bathroom is always clean, and they have nice comfy couches to hang out on in the back. This is a great place to have a relaxed drink and conversation.

Like others have stated before, this is your typical garden district bar. Nothing really sticks out except for the fact that they have a few high end beers on tap and a good selection of bottles. Sunday afternoon(not on a Saints gameday) probably wasn’t the best day to come in as I was the only patron there. :S I can also see how smoky the place can be even though I was the only one there. One can only imagine when it’s full. Other than that, the bar seemed clean, bartender was accommodating, and my beer was ice cold.

I had gone past this bar for years but always thought it looked way too shady to venture in which is hilarious when I consider that I usually saw it when I was on my way to the super shady Saint. A friend of mine moved a block away and so I ended up meeting them here one night and discovered that this is actually a really cool bar. The vibe is very laid back and there seems to be a good group of regulars here. It is usually a bit too smokey for my preferance but overall this seems like a great little neighborhood bar.

Typical garden district bar. Nothing really special going for it. Really smoky, but a nice bar to frequent if you live in the neighborhood. It’s probably not a place I would go out of my way to visit, but it was a nice little place nonetheless.

I have driven by this bar an untold number of times during the day, and always wanted to check it out. It is located on the one-way section of Magazine, which gets less foot traffic than the more busy two way traffic section. Because of this it had a distinct neighborhood bar feel. Even though I was treated well, I got a weird vibe like I was an outsider(which I was). One feature that I really liked was the couch area. It was located towards the back, which made it a more quiet conversation space. There was a decent beer selection, and service was friendly and prompt. The bartender was even nice when I drank only water. In summary, the couch area is great, I liked it, but felt like I was imposing on the neighborhood crowd. I would probably come back, but next time I will head straight for the couch.
