$ 9 for a heineken and a martini with Reyka vodka(when I say martini I mean 2 because the bartender poured the extra left from the shaker in another martini glass and filled it up) you can’t beat it, great local vibe; very chill

Hit and miss. I’ve gone here for years, because it is a good burger. Sort of. They seem to have issues with matching the right bun size to the patty size. For a while, the 8oz burger would come on such a small bun that the patty had to be too thick to actually bite into. I went recently for the first time in a while and got the 6oz burger. I was pleased to see a large bun, but then… I was blown away when I opened it up to see a nearly round patty, no more than 3 or 4 inches in diameter. Seriously, I could have trimmed 1 ½ inches of bun all the way around the patty. WHY? Why make a patty so thick, and so small? Service is always questionable. But, despite this bad rating, I’ve had some really good burgers there. Never very good service, but sometimes a really good burger with really good side options.

I can’t say enough good things about this restaurant. The burger is one of the best I’ve had in the city! Ordered medium rare, which was cooked to perfection and the flavor was incredible. We were lucky to have Gerald as our waiter, who gave us outstanding service. He also makes the desserts, which, well, I went to heaven on the first bite. Can’t wait to go back…

1st time here & I’m in love. Love the atmosphere the food is soooo good. Had the G.B. Burger with a bake potato. My husband had the same only he had fries. We shared an appetizing of potatoes skins along with 2 soft drinks. All this for $ 30 can’t beat that. Only one issue it took a long long time for our entrée to come out. We will most definitely will be back. good

BLUF: Cheap drinks and crazy good cake. I ate here once but dont remember much. I went this last time because someone told me to get the cake which isnt on the menu. I thought it was going to be hush hush and super secrete but the waiter acted like it was a standard question. That was a let down but the cake wasnt. It was super super awesome. It was praline coconut cake which are too things that I dont really like but I felt like I had to get it since I had asked in a weirdo secretive way. Glad I did. It was crazy good and pretty big. I also got a gin and tonic which was good and cheap. Great waiter. Good location close to the beaten path but not on it. Good location for further venturing.

I have a friend who is addicted to the hot dog at G B’s and eats them three or four times a week. While I think that is a little excessive, G B’s makes great hamburgers and hot dogs. I usually get the mushroom swiss burger, which I believe is one of the best burgers in New Orleans, but all of the burgers are great. They’re big juicy burgers that take a long time to cook. They remind me of a burger that your Dad would cook on the grill at home if he knew what he was doing. The fries are the Ore-Ida Golden Crinkle type that your Mom used to make in the oven but at G B’s are fried perfectly. Pretty good onion rings too. The staff if very friendly(some, like Gerald, are institutions and know their customers like a waiter at Antoine’s) and the place has a great neighborhood atmosphere to it. You will find families with small babies to older couples who seem to have been coming since the place opened. When the weather is nice, they have an amazing courtyard patio. I’ve strayed from the hot dog/hamburger staples a few times and have learned to stick with what they do best. A great place to relax and have a burger in New Orleans.

Great place for a burger and a beer. Reasonable prices. Very friendly staff. Will visit again soon. The patio is a nice feature but it’s missing TVs.

Love this place! A good friend of mine introduced me to this place about two years ago. The burgers are spot on! Friendly staff, nice patio area and a relaxed setting. They also put up a big projector for all the Saints games. Be sure to tip Irish Megan well!

This is a place in New Orleans and particularly in the Carrollton area for quality and tasty hamburgers. On our recent visit we could not resist staying with the burgers. Many chicken selections will have to be tried on another visit. Service is still very attentive and nice. Jennifer is another person who takes care of the drink and food orders. Updating this review for I wrote about how nice it is to dine in the open air at G B’s and I thought that was it. Did see a small bar inside and a few tables near the bar. Had no idea the place opened up into another large dining area. So if anyone is like me and did not know about the inside, large, very air conditioned dining room you do now. That is what I get for not checking the whole place out.

The burgers are super yummy! They can be covered with blue cheese and sauteed onions. The sweet potato fries are also delicious. However, the service stinks and the atmosphere is so so. If you want to wait a while for a good burger, order a drink and go for it!

Ok I have given this place a few tries. It is disappointing, to put it mildly. For some reason, people really like to bring their kids here to run around and screech on the patio. Dont come here if you want a relaxing drink with friends. Come here if you want to wait forever for your food while getting eaten by mosquitos and having to watch your mouth so the snotty uptown mother doesn’t give you a dirty look. The service has always been mediocre. You’ll sit and wait forever for anything. The food is OK. Just OK. There is nothing on this menu that you need to go out of your way and come here to eat.

It’s your typical neighborhood grill/bar combo with burgers, steaks, salads, and sandwiches. The staff is friendly and the patio’s nice to sit at when the weather agrees. My friend ordered the filet — which was substantially more pricey at $ 30 than anything else on the menu — but she seemed to enjoy it. I got the fried chicken salad — two pieces of fried chicken breast on top of a house salad and it was exactly what I expected. Nothing too exciting, but nothing horrible either.

I LOVEGB’s! I lived in New Orleans for a year and this was the best little spot to go to any time during the week. The burgers are amazing and if you get it with the loaded baked potato on the side, it’s even better! I have tried pretty much everything on their menu and I was never disappointed. Great drinks, great food, great atmosphere and great service. You get really lucky if Gerald bakes one of his awesome cakes as well. They are always delicious, I don’t know why he doesn’t open a bakery. The outdoor patio is perfect during any weather because it’s covered and during the cold days they have outdoor heaters and ceiling fans are on during the summer. It’s a comfortable place to go hang out after work or to grab an easy dinner with a group of friends.

This isn’t a bad place. They serve salads, burgers and cheese fries. It’s pretty much a few steps up from bar food, but that’s not a bad thing. The staff is very efficient and attentive. When I went, I got a burger. It wasn’t anything overly special, but I liked it. This would be a good place to come before you head out for a night out, as the place is right next to a bar(and also HAS a bar) and the food is well priced.

We stopped in for dinner on impulse last week. The nice weather made their patio tables look like a great idea. She had a blackened chicken salad and enjoyed it. I had a tuna burger that was only ok. The server did a fine job and things moved slowly but not painfully so. The problem was that the patio is apparently a very popular spot for smokers and the reek of smoke really pretty much guarantees we’ll never go back.

GB’s is right behind Madigan’s Bar and the menu here is some basic bar type food with a nice red meat focus. The main draw is that they USUALLY offer the best burger in the Carrollton area and some decent steaks. Most of the time I’ve had the burger here it has been very good but there have been a few times that it was off for whatever reasons. I’ve also had some very bad service in here occasionally but usually it has been decent. This is just a NOLA neighborhood bar type atmosphere that is usually not too crowded and not at all trendy so you can actually enjoy eating your food(with the added bonus of a patio). I would say that the burger is far better here(and better priced) than the other nearby options of Tru Burger or Cowbell.

This is a nice little underated spot with a good atmosphere and good food. I have been here two times total, and both times I’ve had a great time. I’ve sat in both the patio and at the bar, and both times the service was great. The employees are engaging, attentive, but not overly-so. Which is important to me when I want to enjoy the good company of a friend. Patios, courtyards and balconies are kind of my thing. I like to sit outside to eat/drink if at all possible. GB’s patio doesn’t exactly have a fantastic view, but it is still a comfortable atmosphere. The wine list is limited, but acceptable. Pretty good wines at a pretty good price. If you’ve read any of my other reviews, you know I’m a girl that loves her red meat. The first time I went here, I got a ribeye that I enjoyed very much. This time, I got a burger cooked perfectly to medium rare with blue cheese crumbles and sauteed onions and I was in burger heaven. The meat to bun ratio is nearly perfect. I may be a burger whore, but I’m also a burger snob, and this burger gets my burger snob seal of approval. Not gonna say it’s the best I’ve ever had. But it most definitely hits all the right spots.

What miserable treatment we received here last night. Our waitress took our orders and brought us our drink(all iced teas and waters) as soon as we were seated, but then we did not see an employee of the establishment for another 45 minutes. When we did finally see someone, it was simply to bring me my salad. I.e. a place of iceberg lettuce and cherry tomato with a little cup of dressing. This wasn’t a gourmet chef salad or anything. someone dumped some lettuce out of a bag onto a plate. It should not have taken 45 minutes. At very least another quarter of an hour passed before we received the rest of our meal. Everyone’s food was cold. Some was downright ice cold. when we mentioned to the manager that our food was cold, he blatantly retorted, «no, it isn’t.» This seemed rude, yet we responded with an attitude that we wanted them to have a chance to make it up to us. Well, how did he make it up to us? He offered a round of drinks to the table that was drinking nothing but iced tea and water. As we were finishing our cold burgers our waitress finally reappeared(for the first time since she took our orders well over an hour prior) to ask how everything was going, not having even noticed the confrontation between us and the manager. We responded that things were not going well causing her to immediately run off to the manager. She came back with quite the attitude, «informing» us that we rejected the manager’s offer for drinks.

Underrated and lost among the other Carrollton/Riverbend restaurants, GB’s is a good option if you want some decent burgers and bar food on the cheap. My boyfriend and I frequent this place if we can’t think of anywhere else to go. Obviously it’s no Port of Call or Lakeview Harbor, but I think their burgers would beat Dough Bowl’s(and I can’t really think of any better burger places in the area). Oh, and unlike previous reviews, I did not get sick, I have gone since being a student, and I’ve never gone drunk. The service is pretty slow, but the place always has a decent crowd of people when I go. I would recommend starting with their spinach and artichoke dip, which is pretty delicious. You can get a big 6 oz. burger cooked the way you like it with a side(baked potato — yum!, fries, broccoli, onion rings) for $ 7. Cheese is an extra 50 cents on the burger. The baked potato only comes with chives and butter, but you can add cheese and real bacon for a little more. The burgers are always cooked exactly how we order(medium well for me, medium rare for the boyfriend), and they are juicy with great flavor. They always offer homemade cake, and we finally tried it last night — chocolate«sin» cake for $ 5 was pretty tasty, moist and fluffy and topped with a truffle. Overall, if you’re looking for a burger that’s not fast food around the Riverbend or University area, and you’d prefer not to be seen around The Boot, this is a good option.
