I enjoyed my dinner at Doris. Someone who is in French quarter must visit this restaurant… Atmosphere, service, food was amazing.

Perhaps one of the best steaks I’ve ever had the pleasure of consuming, and I’ve had my share of beef over the years from the large chains — The Palm/Ruth’s Chris to local establishments such as the Chicago Chop House and others. Beautifully seasoned and cooked, my 8 ounce steak included a towering bone with marrow. A starter of carpaccio was equally delicious as was the selection of bread and butter provided.

Just had another great meal at Doris Metropolitan. Chef’s special tonight was a Wagyu Tomahawk coming in just under 3 lbs. My husband and I shared and relished every bite. As great as the meat is, and it’s phenomenal, the Mediterranean flair is what sets the food apart. The artichoke flower salad is a favorite. My favorite steakhouse in NOLA.

Horrible service. Hostess was rude and snobby. How is it that a hostess is snobby? Ridiculous! Sad to have to let doris go since its so close to my house but there are so many other great restaurants with hostess who understand what they are there to do.

Not Gluten-Free Friendly So was staying in NOLA for the night and checked Unilocal and TripAdvisor for top rated restaurants in the area and found August which was fully booked and next was Doris Metropolitan… so made some reservations and she told me on the phone they do have some choices for gluten-free patrons. We arrived, beautiful restaurant, parking is not validated so expect to pay $ 16 across the street at the Omni lot which was recommended by hostess. They have steaks in the window, beautiful bar interior and decorations. Our waiter was very off putting at the beginning since we were the youngest in the restaurant I’m sure he thought we were crappy tippers and they seemed to be understaffed and every time he would come over ask us for drinks or our food order the damn maitre d or manager kept interrupting him asking him to do something while we were giving him our order for anything. Got interrupted by this guy like 3 times, also a guy in a suit comes over and just goes«hello, I just wanted to say hi» and walks off… like are you the manager bro or what? tell us who you are creep. For drinks we had the Chief Stiggens which was tasty, and very quenching and an old fashioned which was really crap and was a bad reinvention of an old fashioned. Also had a cocktail that had a «smoky» flavor which in fact I think had gluten in it and soon as I drank it destroyed my gut. Our waiter had no idea of gluten-free options and had to go check with the chef and would name off all the ingredients on the dish I’d ask for and told us everything is not gluten-free except maybe one or two things. So I tried the Artichoke Salad, and Short Rib dish, both of the dishes were excellent and in fact gluten-free thank goodness. My lady asked about the difference in age of steaks and what the difference was and he had no clue really 21 days 31 days? seems like marketing to me since I wasn’t informed otherwise. Her steak was under seasoned, over cooked and not worth the price tag. This restaurant wasn’t what I expected and a let down to say the last.

This restaurant was pretty good. The steak was big enough for two. Bread to die for. Staff-top notch. Ambiance– perfect. Would have give four stars but our sauce for the steak was ice cold even after we asked that it is warmed up. Some tips for the very good staff: Serve sauces warm please!

Thanks to the couple that sit behind us in the Dome, we had a great meal last weekend. I had never heard of this place. We sat out on the courtyard. It was nice out there. When you walk in, there was a spot to check out all the aged meats etx that you’re about to eat. Awesome! Since we were a party of nine, we were required to do a family style meal. It came with bread, a pre-chosen appetizer selection, and a wide variety of meats. I personally am not a red meat eater. They let me order the seabass, which was perfectly cooked and very enjoyable. As for the meat, I know we had bone marrow and some 28 day aged ribeye and I believe a 21 day aged filet. Everyone at the table said it was absolutely amazing. My husband is a big Ruth’s Chris fan and it rivaled them according to his palate. The appetizers were good as well. The tuna was a little on the spicy side. My favorite were the stuffed beets. Can I get that recipe please?! The service was great. A glass never went empty and we were constantly checked on by many different employees throughout the night. It is pricy, so save it for a special night!

We heard they don’t give you steak knives because the steaks are so tender you don’t need a knife. We had to go. Open Table said they had no reservations but we decided to try anyway. We visit New Orleans a few times a year and this place is, by far, our favorite restaurant in the city. Dante got us seated immediately and everyone we encountered was at the top of their game, and fun. We ate the 21-day aged 2.5 lb ribeye. It was unbelievable and my husband finished it without using a knife. I cannot say enough about how nice and talented everyone was, from front of house, to bar, to kitchen(who dropped off a fun dessert). When it was time to go, we asked for a bar recommendation and they gave us a boomerang shot to an awesome bar down the way. Highest recommendation to this team and restaurant. What a great way to end our trip.

Favorite #nola restaurant. Aged beef. Great atmosphere. Easy walk from French quarter and on quieter side streets but not too far off the beaten safe path.

We Found this place while wandering around NOLA. They display their aging meat in a room visible to the people passing by. It wasn’t opened yet but I went inside to look around. The hostess was very pleasant and showed me the menu which looked very interesting. So we decided to take a break from the Cajun and creole and give this a try. It’s important to remember that this is not a typical New Orleans menu. This is a steak house. More importantly, they had the best steak dinner I ever had. The service was phenomenal. Our server was friendly and very knowledgable. In fact the entire staff was extremely attentive never letting a water glass get past half empty or leave an empty plate linger. We shared an appetizer of cured gulf fish bruschetta with pickled vegetables. It was very different than I expected but a wonderful way to start. My wife had the butcher cut steak and loved it. I had the wagyu striploin and it was close to a religious experience. Outstanding! This was a great experience and would love to visit again.

So good. And such knowledgeable waitstaff as well. Felt so comfortable eating here. Took a little break from binge drinking and raging on Bourbon Street to enjoy a great dinner. Don’t be fooled by the French Quarter address. The atmosphere is hip and stylish, but still having a bit of a classic steakhouse feel in a traditional French Quarter building. There’s even an open air patio in the middle of the restaurant. The steaks are aged 1 – 2 months and perfectly cooked. Splurge for the big money steak if you’d like, but you can’t really go wrong with any cut on the menu. The preparation is superb. I know it might sound silly, but the bread plate is top notch served with multiple butter styles. Drinks were good and seriously the waitstaff were so knowledgeable and attentive it almost bordered on overkill. Luckily we were a festive group and didn’t mind. A top meal and a welcome break from the Bourbon Street rager nearby.

This was the first place we went in New Orleans for our two week stay. It was yet another work function but this one was great. Every thing we had was great, and I mean every single thing. I ate things I never thought I would. My favorite thing was the cheese stuffed beet. It was to die for. I could have had an entrée of just cheese stuffed beets.

Wow… I’ve found a new respect for this establishment, after an abysmal initial experience. The second round was beyond reproach. Service, food, atmosphere and ambience were top notch. Drinks were tasty and provided the appropriate punch, food gave the wow factor that was duly need for an esteemed establishment. Steaks were Flintstone style with a choice of cut spread. Sides were par which did not eclipse the star… The steak!!! The appetizers… Tuna and steak tartar… A must have… If you like complex flavored items. Overall… Doris Metropolitan… You have redeemed yourself… I will be back

Excellent… O.K…$ 155 for a steak is a bit much… but worth every penny… simply outstanding for a Wagyu steak. Wagyu has to be cooked perfectly to take advantage of the marbling… this was done exactly as it should have been. Everything else was incredible. The apps, wine, service… were all superb. Hip but not overdone atmosphere. We were 15 minutes late with none of the superior condescension(well deserved) you normally get for screwing up their tables for the night ! Super nice staff that really added to the experience. Will definitely return !

Outstanding food. One of the best meals my godmother, godbrother and I have each had in recent memory. Housed in a traditional French quarter building but with comfortable, stylish and respectfully contemporararized interior space. An interior courtyard offers charming outdoor dining space. The service is impeccable. But Doris is about the exceptional food. With Mediterranean influences and 12 amazing appetizers to choose from I went with a sensational three appetizer meal. 1. Tuna Tartare with ginger emulsion, tobiko, salicornia, radish, avocado, wasabi and home made soy sauce pearls. 2. Artichoke Flower Salad — served warm with grilled artichoke halves, house made tzatziki, Sun dried tomatoes and black garlic. 3. Baladi Eggplant — charred eggplant blended with Tahini sauce, tomato concasse and pine nuts drizzled with EVOO and served with warm artisan house bread. My godmother claims her 24 hour cooked«fall off the bone,» short rib with smoked tomato au jus served over root vegetable purée was the best she’s ever eaten(and she’s 91 and loves short rib!) My God brother, who is a northern California farm to table and high end steak house guy says his NY Strip with house made smoked red wine marinated salt was the best he’s eaten, which is shockingly huge given all the steak he eats. Since we had finish lunch aro 2:30 and Our reservation was for 7, it wasn’t like we were famished. It was just that good! They ate at August the following evening and both told me the food at Doris was better so this place deserves to be taken very seriously as in our opinion it is definitely Best in class!

I had used Open Table to see what restaurants were available for Saturday evening and Doris only had one spot open at 10PM I believe. We started the evening having a brewed in house beer at Crescent City Brewhouse and then ventured out toward Pat O’s. Knowing well where Doris was located we decided to walk by and check them out. Boy are we glad we did. The place was rocking and has a really neat bar area and they had a table for us in the open air courtyard which normally I would refuse due to heat and humidity but gladly accepted on this cool night. It was perfect. We ordered a couple of bourbons with a little ice to get us started. Nice. The app menu had some really interesting choices and I fixated on the Calamari Salad. Good choice. Warm and satisfying with lots going on in the herbs and spices with chickpeas and tender squid throughout. My son was an instant fan too. We both ordered the 18 oz. Ribeye at 21 days and truffle fries along with grilled asparagus touched off with melted Parmesan. The meat was flavor filled, cooked perfectly and the sides completed the meal. Both of us had beer with dinner off a fairly limited list. A Bayou Teche Pale and Estrella Galacia. We were so satisfied we could not finish our last few bites of steak but we did opt for two dessert wines to end it while talking about the dessert menu itself. Feist 10 yr port and Charleston Madeira. Service was attentive all evening and answered the questions we had about the menu. They have lead servers but employ a team method overall so nothing like is missed. And it wasn’t. We also had a lot of folks stop by to ask about our meal, all within about ten minutes or so which is nice but almost too much. They should coordinate this better. Loved the ambience and definitely have it on our return list to treat the wife. Our expectations and anticipation were high and they were met!

Whether you’re looking to sip on a cocktail at the bar, have lunch with a colleague or romantic dinner, Doris Metropolitan is undoubtedly one of the best spots in the French Quarter. The warm and charming staff makes it a goal to ensure that every experience is one to remember, and you can tell it’s not just a job for them. It’s a lifestyle. Every server, bartender and employee I’ve had an interaction with genuinely enjoys being a part of the team and is thrilled to have you walk through the door. The bartenders are bar geniuses. I haven’t had a bad drink. The summer cocktail menu is one you won’t want to miss. As for wine drinkers, the selection is impressive and the servers are happy to assist in the perfect pairing for your meal. The food — you’ll want to come hungry. The server will bring a few different breads, three butter options and an olive oil dipping plate. The wasabi butter is my personal favorite, but it’s all delicious. The Tuna Tar Tar is a must for a starter, but don’t stop there. Get a few appetizers to start, perhaps the Artichoke Flower Salad or the Sweet Breads. No matter what steak you order, it will be cooked to perfection. If you’re unsure of the best cook on a cut, ask your server and they’ll be happy to offer a suggestion. For those not into steak, there are other options including chicken, sea bass and more. Share a few sides with your entrée. My personal favorite are the Root Purée, Truffled Polenta and the Truffle Fries. No matter what you order, in my experience, you can’t go wrong. Save room for dessert. There are several delicious options whether your in the mood for a Mediterranean inspired dish or something very sweet.

Although the name of this restaurant kept slipping my mind the first five times I tried to reference it, keep in mind that I’ve thought back to Doris Metropolitan so many times that I’ve more than cemented its name in my memory. Very inviting ambiance and a gem in the French Quarter. We came here for my boyfriend’s birthday and this pick(thanks to Unilocal!) was probably the best part of the day! We started with a calamari salad that was the best either of us had ever had — the juices were cooked perfectly into the calamari and the texture was out of this world. The bread and three butters also complemented each other perfectly, and I had begun to fill up before my entrée as I often do. We ordered the steak and the veal, and both were wonderful. A veritable journey into the finer end of the culinary spectrum in New Orleans, if you will.

If you go to one place for dinner in New Orleans, let it be Doris. This place is a value for the service and quality of food. A lovely and unpretentious space which attentive and fun staff. My mom and I shared the tuna tartar(AMAZING) and lamb chop(also really good) appetizers and then split an 18 oz 31-day aged ribeye which had us in heaven. It was perfectly prepared and so, so, so flavorful. We also shared a side of salad and asparagus gratin. Our drinks were really great too. My mom asked for a gin and peach schnapps drink but because they didn’t have the schnapps, the bartender made a custom drink for her using special teas and cherries… it was really tasty and thoughtful. My mom liked it so much she ordered one for the walk home(when in NOLA…) The next time I’m in New Orleans this will be my first reservation after the plane ticket.
