One of my absolute favorite sandwich shops in New Orleans, hands down. Cochon Butcher is a local deli serving up some fantastic meats and sandwiches, and I love the causal, laid back ambience that makes it perfect for lunch, dinner, a date, or honestly just whenever you get a craving for meat! I’ve tried a lot of things off the menu here — the muffuletta, le pig mac(their spin on the McDonald’s big mac), and the pork sausage dog, but probably my favorite is their pork belly sandwich. So good! The pork belly is extremely tender and flavorful. It’s probably not proper, but I love dumping their sweet potato hot sauce on my sandwich as well — adds just the right amount of heat and sweet! I like their duck pastrami sliders a lot, but just wish they had more meat! It’s a lot of cheese(which is always a good thing) but didn’t get much duck. OVERALL: 4⁄5. Great meats and sandwiches, awesome vibe and atmosphere, reasonable prices. Next time I visit I have my heart set on trying their«gambino» sandwich that looks absolutely killer!

This place has an extensive menu, it’s a must go to for meat lovers. The pastrami was so fresh and delicious. We also bought a sausage which we enjoyed later after a lot of drinking. They have jams and a deli as well.

Well when a Man needs a Sandwich where should he go in Nola? THISPLACETHATSWHERE. Great little place with super friendly staff and my pastrami sandwich with homemade pickles along with tater salad! Was the BOMB Dot Com. Just a great place for great food and if you are a drinker they have a super bar with tons of beers and cocktails. Just watch out for Chewie in the bathroom OMG

Funky place, delicious food!!! You order the food at the counter and grab a number. Walk past Chewbacca and self seat yourself in the dining area with the bar. We got the duck pastrami sliders $ 7, buckboard bacon melt $ 11, and the Mac and cheese $ 6! The duck sliders were basically like a grilled cheese cut up in small diagonals. The bacon melt was the most savory and most delicious out of the three. Mac and cheese was delicious! Love when restaurants slightly toast the cheese to give it a crusty texture.

We came here expecting to get a sausage sampler we saw here in other reviews in Unilocal, however they notified us we could only get that with a catering order 24 hours ahead of time. Instead we got a charcuterie plate to share, and I got brisket sliders and Mac and cheese. The shared plate was good, but nothing outstanding for 16 bucks or so. The brisket was extremely dry and chewy, very hard to enjoy honestly. The Mac and cheese was very good and the service was friendly and fast. Overall it was average, and not sure it was worth getting drenched to run there from our parking spot down the street.

Had two items, the duck pastrami sliders and the muffaletta. The duck pastrami sliders were decent but nothing to write home about. The muffaletta on the other hand was excellent. Have had Central Grocery muffaletta and liked Cochon’s more. Thought the ratios of meat, cheese, olives, bread were better than Central. Many more items that were intriguing and next time will try have to try some new ones!

To me, sandwiches are a metaphor for life. There’s a beginning and an end, but it’s what you do in between that defines how good it is. And let me just say that what Cochon Butcher is doing between the bread is nothing short of amazing. The three of us were pretty hungry after getting in from the airport, and Butcher was at the top of our list for our first meal. The guy behind the counter was amazingly patient with our indecisiveness(really, all of their sandwiches sound amazing), but we eventually settled on the duck pastrami sliders to start, followed by the Buckboard bacon melt, Muffaletta, and the pork belly. The duck sliders were a fine appetizer, but nothing too special. It tasted like duck, and it tasted like pastrami. Served on white bread, quartered. Then our real food came. The Muffaletta was a sight to behold. It on a round piece of seseame speckled Sicilian bread that was basically the size of a small boule, and loaded with SO. MUCH. MEAT. The buckboard bacon melt was actually my favorite. Loved the collards in it, and the way they toasted the bread right up to the point of almost being burnt. The pork belly was my least favorite, but still good. Mint and cucumber on plain white bread. I wish we could’ve gone back every day for lunch and had all of their sandwiches, but we had reservations to attend and other animals to eat. We ended up at two other of Donald Link’s restaurants though, and they were all amazing. Oh, and can’t leave this review without mentioning the décor. For some reason, it’s very heavily Star Wars inspired. There’s even a Chewbacca fathead in the bathroom(next to a framed photo of Mr. T) as well as a very selfie-friendly almost lifesize Chewie near the door. Strange, but awesome.

Came here mid-afternoon and the place was absolutely packed. We barely found enough seating on the patio and that was only because it had been raining on/off all day so people were avoiding being outside. We got a Cubano and muffaletta with a side of potato salad and mac and cheese. The Cubano and mac and cheese were the real winners of the show. So good and so worth it. The muffaletta was good, but so damn salty that between two of us we couldn’t even finish it. It was missing the spicy pizazz that I was hoping to get from the olive spread. They had a pretty good beer selection so our group shared a pitcher; however, the beer didn’t come until our food did. What a bummer. It would’ve been nice to enjoy a drink while we waited. All in all, the service was pretty good, food was delicious, and the atmosphere of the place was pretty awesome.

Cochon Butcher is the sandwich shop on the side of Cochon Restaurant. It is a great option if you want to try the brilliant food of Cochon without sitting down for a long meal. I also got a recommendation to go to Cochon Butcher instead of the restaurant because it is slightly cheaper so I can try more food. I extend the same advice. I ordered the pork belly sandwich and Brussel sprouts. I highly recommend both. The pork belly sandwich is out of this world good. It is my favorite item I ate during my trip to New Orleans. I have eaten a lot of different pork in my life. This sandwich might be the best pork dish I have ever had. The Brussel sprouts are also excellent. They are cooked so they are soft and have a nice char. If you are visiting New Orleans and looking for recommendations, please see

I came here from a recommendation from a friend, and decided to try it out. It was super busy when I came, and all the tables are first come first serve. And other people were all on it! They’d stare down groups for their table. So crazy! My husband and I got the Pork Belly and the Le Pig Mac, and a can of hard apple cider. Total bill came out to $ 29. The food was delicious!!! Pork Belly was extremely moist and tender! And Le Pig Mac was super tall! Unfortunately, both sandwiches were tiny and didn’t come with any sides. Even though they were $ 10 and $ 12 respectively, we still weren’t full at all. The cider was $ 7. Service wise, the tables get cleaned really fast. Unfortunately, the communication wasn’t too good. A staff member took the container of the utensils, and didn’t come back for a while. He didn’t say anything about replenishing them, and we had to eat our food without napkins and utensils till the end of our meal. Quite inconvenient.

«So good that we came here twice and bought a t-shirt» This was probably one of the top 3 restaurants for my wife and I. We visited twice and can understand the hype. From the service to the food: amazing! Ambience: Hipster? Small amount of seating. Fits 40ish people. Eclectic. Star wars memorabilia dressed with random costumes and items. Yoda riding a unicorn. That sums it up. Clean and organized. Pricing: Quality at the right price. They are not throwing huge portions at you, but you are not getting ripped off. You re getting what you pay for. Reminder: they take the time to craft your food which means love and care was added. Worth it. Food: You order at the counter and hopefully you can find a seat after. Thankfully the selection is enough where you don’t feel overwhelmed. This adds to the wait in line. Get what you know you love. You won’t be disappointed. You don’t have to follow what people suggest unless you guys have similar palettes. Charcuterie board 5⁄5 I love cured meats and they do a great job of providing a decent selection of what they make themselves. 3 salamis and 2 tourines. You get chow chow(pickled onions and peppers) delish, a great deli mustard, and their house pickles.(My wife and I are addicted to these) it comes with flat bread crackers. Had this twice. Le pig mac 10⁄5 This sandwich exceeded what we read and have experienced out of anything we have eaten similar to this. It is two pork sausage patties with their amazing pickles, shredded lettuce, and amazing house sauce. It reminds you of a big Mac but without the negatives. Lol. My wife and I shared this behemoth. It is that huge. Coconut tart 4⁄5 My wife enjoyed the crust but stated the filling was a bit sweet for her. Mind you, a dessert for her needs balance while others may prefer decadence. It looked amazing and enticing. It says something about a place if they put proper care in the crust. Hot boudin 3⁄5 We had ordered this as a side to what we were eating. We were not expecting much. We ordered it because we wanted something that was native to the area. It’s basically sausage with rice in it. It comes with their amazing pickles and must have mustard. We only ate the inside because the casing was not appealing to eat. It was only warmed through and meant to hold the filling which was good. Having it once was enough for us. Drink: I love drinking and consider my pallete to be pretty broad. I do have my preferences and things I’ll look for. We were very lucky the day that we visited that they were serving Great Raft brewery. From what I’ve read and was told it is one of they great micro brews they have in the state of Louisiana. That’s something to experience and boy were they on to something. I’m from the west coast and our beers tend to be hoppy and light bodied. We’ll get some porters and stouts but they generally aren’t typical. Baltic porter 5⁄5 Saison 4.5÷5 Whoopsy daisy 5⁄5 Wife doesn’t generally drink but enjoyed this and ordered it again. This tells me that it was easy and fun to drink. That is what she enjoys. Service: What I have noticed from my 10 days in nola that most restaurants will have a team of people that are taking care of you and at butcher this is no exception. They exceeded and welcomed us as travelers and not as tourists. We enjoyed some great conversations about the beers and they are very open about talking about life after the storm. They shared about the healing was happening and the community that came together and built everything back up. They spoke extremely well of chef Donald link(co owner) which speaks to the gratitude and loyalty they have to one another. It makes for a great place and a great environment to eat and be a part of. 10⁄5 Hashtag: #amustreturn #hugepartofnolalife #foodieheaven

When I die, I want to come here. Holy crap, this place is incredible! Before making my first trip to NOLA, I asked several trusted associates where I should go, and pretty much everyone said Cochon/Cochon Butcher. Kind of a no-brainer, and I’m here to sing their praises and echo that sentiment. If you are in NOLA or planning a visit, you absolutely MUST come here. If not, you have failed. I am no stranger to amazing sandwiches that make you want to cry tears of joy and/or mess your pants, but this place really blew me away. The best thing is that I was rolling with a fairly large crew of hungry knuckleheads like myself, so we were able to try a lot of different menu items. We had the buckboard bacon melt(a highlight), the muffaletta(incredible), the pastrami, the pork belly, the cubano and the spiced lamb sandwiches. As if that weren’t enough, we also had the duck pastrami sliders and mac & cheese. To say that everything was a home run would be an understatement. It was an insane amount of food, but we gladly finished all of it. Totally gluttonous and decadent in the very best way. In fact, it was my last meal in NOLA, so I truly went out with a bang. The icing on the cake is that the people who work there are super chill and they clearly have an affinity for Star Wars as well as a snarky sense of humor. There are very cool and entertaining decorations and tchotchkes adorning the place, which only adds to the homey and welcoming vibe. I’m so glad I made it there while visiting and will make a return trip a top priority if/when I’m back in the big easy.

Since I was going to be at the convention center for 4 days, I knew one of my meals had to be at Cochon Butcher given all its awesome Unilocal reviews. It’s literally a 5-minute walk, making it a very convenient lunch. Unfortunately, everybody else attending the conference knew this as well so the line was quite long although it moved quickly. However, it was so crowded that there was no place to sit. You pretty much had to fight for a table so I decided to just take my sandwich to go. I ended up ordering the muffaletta($ 12) and it was just okay. I know most of the Unilocal reviews raved about how good it is, but there was just so much grease that it just wasn’t that enjoyable after awhile. The only break from the grease is the olive salad, but there was really little in my sandwich. I think a bit more would’ve helped. I did enjoy the bread though. It was fresh and perfectly toasted. I think I may have ordered the wrong type of sandwich for my taste. I like more fresh ingredients versus just a bunch of cured meats so that’s partly my fault, but I have no problem eating a good old pastrami sandwich so it’s not like I don’t enjoy meaty sandwiches! Anyways, I have to review based on my experience and it was just mediocre so 3 stars it is.

As a marketing professional I tend to err on the side of positive reviews because I know the value of high ratings and good service. But my visit to the butcher was a lesson on how not to treat customers. I order behind a black couple with a woman who provides her very black name. When our orders arrive we are standing on opposite sides of the to-go space. I’m actually the first person the server runs into but he does not call out any names but rather walks over to the couple and gives both our orders to the woman unbeknownst to me. 30MINUTES later after watching several People behind me in line get their food and standing around by myself like a moron I finally Go over and have to ask where my food is. To which they say«oh guess someone stole it. Happens sometimes.» WTF ok I’m expecting now some kind of service recovery. An offer of something free and a genuine apology. Instead I’m told they’ll cook it again and the server comes over to defend himself saying he asked the woman if her name was Brooke and she said yes. Never mind the fact if he had bothered to just yell my name out like EVERY other server did I would have had my meal. Instead Shaqueesha just stole a meal, I’ve had my time wasted, and no one really gives a crap because«this just happens sometimes.» I just moved in around the block. I was excited to make this my go to spot. Instead I won’t ever be back.

Let me just say, I am glad don’t live in the area because I would be as big as a house from eating here for every meal! I ordered the Pork Belly Sandwich and the Mac & Cheese. Everything was so good, I can’t even begin to describe how good it was because it won’t even begin to compare to how great it was! My fiancé got the El Big Mac and let me say, he must love me because he gave me the last bite! I have NEVER tasted anything so amazing! You must stop in and have a bite to eat! This is where I had the best muffuletta in New Orleans. For those of you who don’t know, muffuletta is a traditional sandwich made using a large loaf of Sicilian sesame bread of the same name. It typically has some combination of salami, mortadella, ham, and provolone, and most notably contains a layer of marinated olive salad. It’s also huge! Every place will give you a huge muffuleta, but Cochon’s stands out. First, they use a spicy house meat. I’m not sure if it’s in the salami, or the mortadella, but it has a kick that other muffulettas don’t. Second, the olive salad is not overpowering. I’m sure it may be more authentic to have a pungent, almost sour olive salad, but I enjoyed Cochon’s much more because it was subtle, and added just a hint of flavor to supplement the meat and cheese. Third, the provolone is perfectly melted. I know some other places don’t melt their provolone, but it makes a a big difference. You can have all this for just $ 12. A steal, isn’t it? So there you have it! The best muffuletta in New Orleans™. I’ll wait for my royalty checks.

While visiting NOLA, I was told this was probably one of the best restaurants in the city. While I can’t entirely endorse that idea without visiting the rest, I can say that it was definitely worth a stop. We came here for lunch time right before embarking in the 5 hour trip back to Memphis, and I have to say, it was a great decision. While the experience is not exactly friendly on the pocket, the food and the overall environment/décor inside makes for a nice dining experience. I could see myself coming with a group of friends and having a great time. On the food, we tried the Moroccan Spiced Lamb, the much-talked about Muffaletta, and the Duck Sliders. Everything was great. For $ 12, I’d like the Spice Lamb to be bigger, but it was certainly tasty. The sliders were not anything fancy, but pretty tasty. And the Muffaletta was very good, and actually decently sized. I was full afterwards. Is not the best sandwich ever, but definitely a thing to try at least once, particularly for those who enjoy strong flavors. Overall, great place to try.

— Short Synopsis — Cochon Butcher has some tasty creations and flavor profiles, like the Cochon Muffaletta. The décor and ambiance is cool, especially the star wars related decorations. — Detailed Summary — Throughout the place, there are star wars stuff. My favorite is the death star(or death star looking object) that looks like it’s bursting out of the wall above the hallway to the restrooms. All the ingredients were good. The Cochon Muffaletta came with a good sesame bun I enjoyed! The Cochon Muffaletta had a more unique combination of flavors than I am use to, but I liked it. The olive salad in it added some nice tasty notes to contrast with the meats. As for the meats, the pepperoni(or salami) definitely had the most prominent flavor, but the other meats did help contribute to a good sandwich overall. The duck pastrami sliders were basically a grilled cheese with duck; however, the cheese and some nice duck flavor to it and it was a decent dish overall. The buckboard bacon melt tasted more like a pastrami sandwich, but the pastrami like meat was delicious. The collard greens added cool texture and taste contrast in the sandwich. The sandwiches I tried were pretty good and something different than I am use to, but I was expected to be blown away from the Unilocal rating and I have had better sandwiches elsewhere. Still, I enjoyed my experience at Cochon Butcher.

Unfortunately Cochon was closed during our visit to NOLA so we opted for Cochon butcher instead and damn was it tasty! It was pretty crowded when we arrived but the line moved very fast. We ordered the duck pastrami sliders, muffuletta, le pig Mac, Brussels sprouts and house made chips. The duck pastrami was definitely my favorite, there wasn’t much duck meat on them but what was there was delicious. Le pig Mac was next, very reminiscent of its McDonald counterpart but incomparable in flavor and quality. The muffuletta was also delicious, meat very fresh and tasty. Brussels sprouts were crispy and very flavorful too. Would have skipped the chips next time as they were a little stale but everything else was outstanding! While we received our food pretty fast, our waiter was pretty unfriendly. Dropped off our drinks first without any remark and seemed pissed off when we asked for waters and then continued seeming pissed off the whole time. Oh well.

Great food! It once was a teeny tiny place, but was always overcrowded(with locals). They expanded and guess what? The crowd followed and it’s still overcrowded. Great quality food, but lots of tourists know about this place and more than once I’ve had to contend with people and their bulky luggage in the dining area, which has become a turn off. Best to go at off peak hours on a weekday nowadays because the lines can be VERY long otherwise. Now, the food! The duck pastrami! The Cuban sandwich! The Brussels sprouts! Mac n cheese! It is all delish and fun food. I only wish they had an even BIGGER space to improve the crowd issues(but I suspect like before the crowds would just increase).

This place is casual and so comfortable. I love the little Star Wars decorations spread throughout the dining area. So how it works is you walk up to the counter, order, and take your number to your seat. It was pretty crowded here at 2 p.m. on a Friday, but we were able to get a seat inside after waiting about a minute. Le pig Mac: two all pork patties, special sauce, lettuce cheese pickle on sesame Tastes just like a Big Mac! The pork patties are very pink in color. (Daily Special) pork steak sandwich, cilantro aioli, lettuce, avocado, tomato on onion bun I got the aioli on the side and I’m glad I did, as it was quite salty and I did not end up using it. The sandwich was very flavorful in itself! For both sandwiches, the meat just melted in our mouths. The buns are soft, fresh and lightly toasted. Both sandwiches were slightly spicy(fyi, their definition of «not spicy» means«slightly peppery.» Coleslaw: similar in style to kfc but not sweet Pickles on the side: tangy with mustard seeds and peppers Service is fantastic — especially for a casual joint like this; there are always people around to help you if you need anything, and they come check on you periodically. This is a great lunch spot!

Good food, probably better if you have a hangover. Mac & Cheese: a must! I don’t care if you’re lactose intolerant or vegan, do it! Lol Pork Belly Sandwich: I would describe this as a clean sandwich. There wasn’t much going on that took from the simple flavors of the meat and pickles. By the way, the pickles were AMAZING. Shoot, I didn’t even check to see if they sell them. Damnit. Duck Pastrami Slider: you don’t really taste the duck at all, really. How could you? It was one thin piece of duck, it can’t compete with the overpowering cheese. It’s basically a cheese sandwich grilled perfectly. Seriously, the crust they got on the bread was gold. Pig Mac: I actually really liked this one. If you like Big Macs, you’ll enjoy Cochon Butcher’s take on it. The meat was very tender and thick. The sauce is very close to the original Big Mac sauce, then again I haven’t eaten a Big Mac in ages. Overall, I’d come back. I’d like to explore more of their hipster menu. Lol

Came in here after an unforgettable night in New Orleans, during Mardi Gras. This was a prety trendy place, in an alley, in the convention center area, walking distance from all the action. I had what everyone told me I «just had to try!!» My verdict on the Muffaletta? Meh. It has lots of Italian salame, and cheese, and a green olive relish. Served on a sesame seed bun, it was pretty spicy, and on the oily side. I’m not crazy about Italian sandwiches in the first place. And even though I’m not sure if this is an Italian sandwich, it’s what I was reminded of. Also, people were describing it as some kind of stuffed calzone, muffin type thing. This was just a ding dang sandwich! I also had a very spicy Bloody Mary, which I took to go. Gotta love the Big Easy! On the awesome side, I bought a Pb&J Cookie from the counter as I paid. So freaking delicious! It was my favourite part of my experience. A $ 3 cookie. The very cool part abut this place, full bar, and a full deli, with lots of meats and sausages to choose from. They also had a wide variety of BBQ sauces, Saurcrauts, Jellies, canned things etc. I saw some amazing pies in the case too. You can also pick up some shirts, hats and gear here. Go check it out. According to locals, this is a great place to get a Muffaleta.

Monday afternoon and it’s Martin Luther King Day. Is Cochon gonna be ok? We drive over to find out… ITIS! Sweet, I get to cross one of my New Orleans todo list items off! We chat with the guy at the register and he recommends Le Pig Mac, which is $ 10. OK, sounds good. We take our seats and Alexandria comes over to bring us waters and eventually our food. We’re eyeing the mac and cheese and she tells us if we want to order that, she can get it for us. Tempting, very tempting… Le Pig Mac is very good. I’d describe it as an upscale Double Double(from In-N-Out). It was good, but I dunno if I’d be running there to spend $ 10 on it every time I’m in New Orleans. At $ 7 or $ 8, yes, I’d be here every time. And I’d probably give this place 5 stars. Just sayin’.

The boundin arrived at my table a short while later and was delicious. Both the casing and filling had a very soft texture, at first glance it might appear to be undercooked, but my understanding is that the sausage is poached and contains a good deal of rice, giving it the softer texture. It was served alongside some house made pickles, a few pickled onions and some course brown mustard. Overall it was excellent! Next the star of the show arrived, Le Pig Mac. While it actually looks very similar to a Big Mac, it’s taste is in another class. As they say: two all pork patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed. It was amazing; the richness of the pork patties contrasted beautifully against the tangy sauce and finely diced raw onions. It also comes paired with the house made pickles which help cut the richness of sandwich. While it’s too rich to eat every day, this is a quality burger through and through, and should definitely be enjoyed on occasion. Delicious!!!

Came back to try some boudin! It wasn’t what I expected(I think I would have preferred fried boudin) but even so, it was still good. Paired with some coarse mustard and pickles, it was quite yummy. They have expanded since our last visit, which in my opinion was much needed. It’s such a larger venue now. They have more room for people to sit and dine. They have a large bar at the opposite end of the order counter. And now, they also have dedicated bathroom spaces! Is it bad to say I feel they could still use more space? They are so popular! Nevertheless, they seem good to go where they stand, and they continue to make people smile. I still give it a 5-star review because I love the overall atmosphere and good eats, cool as always. Couldn’t help myself this time around, but I will likely come back for sandwiches… again! :-)

Get here during off times or be prepared to wait(worth the wait)! Cochon Butcher is an absolute must! Between the charcuterie, sandwiches(while limited, they do all of these extremely well), cocktails, and overall atmosphere, Cochon has become a staple of any visit. The staff was friendly, service was quick, and food was phenomenal(as in I am already craving a return visit). While a bit off the beaten path, a nearby biergarten and quick walk from the water, along with just overall great food helps make Cochon a fantastic lunch/snack spot.

Run; don’t walk to Cochon Butcher. We were staying at the Embassy Suites(about a block away) and after a long day of being tourists we wanted something to take back to the hotel. The place just smells amazing when you walk in with staff members expertly cutting meat and prepping the food we were about to order. We ordered two small plates: pimento cheese and brisket sliders and a slice of coconut tart. The pimento cheese was on soft white bread cut into triangles(even with the crust cut off). The pimento cheese had great flavor and texture.. not to thick and not to wet. The brisket sliders were just awesome and we ranked them as some of the best things we ate during our whole trip. The coconut tart was the perfect way to end the meal. It was essentially coconut custard. I just want to go back and try everything else. I’m jealous of New Orleans residents who get to be so close to Cochon Butcher all the time.

I came here four years ago and came back last night to recreate the magic that is cochon butcher on my taste buds. It didn’t quite live up to what I had remembered. This time we got the headcheese(pork cheeks and jaws mixed with gelatin) platter, muffaletta, and le pig mac. Our wines were both average hinging on not so good(mine had a hint of being open too long and my friend’s was too sweet; admittedly I am a bit picky about wine). The head cheese was meaty and interesting but not something that I would order again. The muffaletta was good: it had meats that were delicious eaten separately but together somehow it was a bit too salty. Le pic mac was magical and delicious. The saving grace of the meal. I would give this place 3.5 and round up but these little flies kept landing in our food. One even got stuck in the headcheese. I know we’re in swamp territory but still… not terribly appetizing. The décor was super cute though and the little star wars figurine case up front was awesome.

I’m not the biggest sandwich fan. But was still down to try Cochon Butcher as it seemed a very popular tourist spot. Ordered: 1. Hot boudin @ $ 6(5⁄5 stars): This was the star dish of the entire meal. The boudin came with some radish type sauce and pickles on the side. Boudin was soooo good — every bite was savory and perfect. 2. Duck pastrami slider @ $ 7(4⁄5 stars): Yes it was really good. But it really tasted just like a(very yummy) grilled cheese sandwich. Barely any duck in there so I couldn’t even tell it was a duck pastrami slider… 3. Le Pig Mac @ $ 10(3⁄5 stars) — [Ingredients; 2 all pork patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickel + onion on sesame bun]: Hmmmm… once again, the burger tasted good, but nothing out of the ordinary. Actually almost tasted like a higher end big Mac from McDonalds… skip. Also had some red wine to go with the meal, which was good. Coffee+chicory was AWESOME(tastes so different from regular brewed!), but for some reason they won’t let you take coffee to go, only can have it inside. Overall — would come back just for the boudin, it’s that good. They sell it for to-go in packages too, in case you want to bring some back home(but expiration date is a few days from purchase date since it’s fresh). Perhaps next time I’ll try a different sandwich?

Stopped by Cochon for dinner after checking into the Le Meridian hotel. It’s a few blocks down from the hotel, but isn’t too far of a walk. It’s a bit out of the way from the French Quarter, only recommend coming if you’re in the area or willing to venture out of the central tourist area. Had my belly set on trying out the Le Pig Mac, essentially a better version of the Big Mac but with pork. This wasn’t the usual pork meat that I’ve had, it was a juicier version of a sausage patty with tons of flavor oozing out. Don’t underestimate the pickles that come with the burger on the side! These babies were not your average pickles, addictive toppings marinated in a sweet vinegary sauce packed with a bit of spice. Love the chill atmosphere and friendly service. Stop by if you need a quick bite!

We couldn’t visit NOLA without checking out Cochon butchery. I ordered the Muffuletta and she ordered the pork belly sandwhich. If you like salty peppery meats, you’d probably enjoy the Muff. Don’t feel like you need to eat a Muff just because it’s the thing to do in NOLA. I think you’d be better off with the cold roast beef with horseradish. The Pork belly on the other hand was good as hell. The melt in your mouth pork belly and whatever aoili they used was on point. Really good. Definitely worth a visit.

I had stopped by Cochon Butcher at the recommendations of one of my friends. He had said that it was the best dining experience that he had in New Orleans. Since I didn’t make it during my first visit, I made it a point to go during my second visit. But because I had a limited number of meals to dine out for, I decided to pickup a sandwich for the next day’s lunch. There are a number of sandwiches to select from, all seemingly delicious, but being in New Orleans and having to try everything representative of the area, I had to try a muffaletta. Since I was picking up something that wouldn’t be consumed for 12+ hours, I checked with the staff to see if anything would be particularly good the next day and they had recommended the Cochon Muffaletta. In fact, they even said that they thought it would taste better the next day as the flavors marinate together. Now, I’d have to say that my mind wasn’t blown, but it was delicious. The portion was incredible, too! I only had half, and felt like I had a satisfying lunch. So if you can’t dine in, I do recommend take out!
