Just witnessed staff being supremely helpful on all fronts to a variety of customers — providing samples, helping clean up and offering additional coffee when a customer spilled some of her drink, and offering assistance to a pregnant woman. This is also a great place to sit and work if you are between meetings in the CBD. I will say, I don’t love CC’s hot coffee in general and never order it(iced coffee, with milk, or an iced tea are better) — but this is New Orleans after all, so iced drinks are usually the better choice. And the service here alone deserves 5 stars, especially the three ladies on shift at 2:30PM on Thursday June 19(I’ve had good experiences with very efficient morning servers as well).

Worker bees of the CBD take note — this CC’s is one of coffee shops in the area. It’s located on Poydras, just past the St. Charles intersection. There’s a banner hanging from the street, but there isn’t a storefront, so it can be hard to miss. While I work less than a block away from PJ’s, I always walk the extra few blocks to this CC’s when I need to get my caffeine fix. CC’s coffee is(in my humble opinion) much better than PJ’s. The PJ’s on Camp street is also usually very crowded, and there’s limited seating. CC’s, on the other hand, is spacious(there are extra tables in the back), and it’s usually pretty quiet and clean. I stop by a lot on my lunch break to get some work done or just relax. The baristas are always friendly and remember repeat customers.

This CC’s is hidden inside of a very tall office building in the CBD. There isn’t really an entrance on St. Charles which is misleading. You need to enter through Poydras St. next to the Whitney Bank building/Hotel or on the Lafayette Park side(through the revolving doors, stay to the left and walk forward). The baristas and cashiers are always very friendly and helpful and do their jobs well. I often see group of tours or students stop through here as if they just got off the streetcar or about to get back on(there is a stop diagonally across the street on St. Charles and Poydras in front of the Shell Building – the big white one). There is plenty of seating, it is very clean and spacious for a coffee shop. They also have a conference room which I think is cool(and useless). Nice N’awlins-y photos on the wall. My favorite is the Pirate Alley home of Faulkner. If you are a tourist, then get any kind of coffee with half and half or whole milk to really taste the flavor of the coffee. If you’re a local, then you already know what to get. I avoid chocolate Mochasippis and their Chai lattes – Starbucks chai tea lattes are much better. Again, if you must, get it with some fatty milk. Recently I heard on the radio that going with fatty milk will help you lose weight because you will feel more full and satisfied, reducing high-sugar snacking you are more likely to do after drinking skim milk if you are still hungry.
