Been here once and it was amazing. Service, food, atmosphere, everything was great. I went for brunch with my wife and got the fall of rum coctail, cinnamon roll, and the brunch burger with fries. The cinnamon roll was huge and fresh. The fries are some of the best in the city. I will definitely come back for dinner or lunch in the near future.

I was so excited about this meal, I came home to review it immediately. The service was outstanding and the food I’d say was some of the best in New Orleans. Even the freshly made bread was piping hot and delicious. We started with the oysters good enough, which were four fried oysters with bearnaise sauce and Benton’s bacon– a must get. Then we both got scallops and swine with a butternut squash purée and balsamic vinegar. All of the entrees sounded phenomenal, but we both couldn’t resist getting that dish. The best part I have to say was the dessert. We got café au lait panna cotta with mini glazed donuts, which reminded us of beignets at café du monde. Finally, I sampled their house made ‘cellos, including ginger and limecellos, and they were unique and delicious. An amazing experience!

We knew very little about this place but we wanted to try it. We went on a Saturday night, expecting a pretty casual place. No reservations. It was a little more upscale than we expected, but we were fine(glad I wasn’t wearing a t-shirt). We were able to sit at the bar — which is not a drinks bar, it’s a small bar that has a direct view of the kitchen – and this was really great. Service was professional and prompt. Atmosphere was friendly. The folks at our left and right were friendly and there was chit-chat about comparing dishes. Food was great. Really good. Yeah… you gotta get the Oysters Goodenough. They also brought us two raw oysters/half shell that had a delicious sauce. I got the striped bass, and it was great. My date had the cavatelli, and it was really, really good. It was fun watching the line in the kitchen, seeing how each dish came out. Chef Goodenough stood at the end controlling everything in light, fun, but«in charge» conversation with the other chefs. As our meal ended and the night slowed down, he came over and chatted with us and our neighbors. Just a very nice, very comfortable, unexpected dining experience. We plan to go back, and we plan to eat at the bar again.

Had a wonderful early dinner here. Carrollton Market is tucked away next to a strip mall off Carrollton Ave. While the location is a little bit unassuming the interior is well done and a good fit with the clean modern American cuisine served with a Louisiana twist. The cocktail program is particularly strong — although many options are pricey. The oysters goodenough is obviously a clear menu favorite with good reason, although i did find that the bernaise sauce overwhelmed the oyster just a bit. Entrees were strong and hearty. There are a lot of restaurants competing in this price range at the moment but Carrollton Market is a strong contender and I look forward to returning as they have a newly announced happy hour that sounds intriguing.

Service was impeccable. I love their cocktail menu. I had the Fall of Rum. The taste reminded me of Christmas. Definitely try the Oysters Goodenough. It melted in my mouth. I had the red snapper with coconut rice and curry. The fish was cooked perfectly. Will be back!

I have nothing but great things to say about Carrollton Market; from the ambiance, to the food and the service. A group of seven of us dined here last evening while visiting from Boston, MA for an Optometry conference. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful, clean, open & modern. The staff here, from the host, to the cooks and our waiter were all extremely accommodating throughout the course of our dining experience and very attentive. Our waiter was incredibly knowledgeable and full of helpful recommendations with regards to both the food and beverages. During the evening we were able to try a variety of things on the menu ranging from their oysters Goodenough, the Lousiana blue crab casserole, the beef shank with roasted mushroom cannelloni and their entire dessert selection. The kitchen also sent out complimentary smoked salmon over a bed of seaweed salad as well as their chicken and dumplings for us to try. I can not speak highly enough about the quality, quantity and most importantly the flavors of everything we ate here. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting in the New Orleans area and if given the opportunity to I would most certainly dine there again. Thanks Carrolton Market!

Dined here for the second time last night. From the atmosphere to the service and especially the food, everything was spot on. The tomato gazpacho soup was beyond excellent, the green salad about par with expectations of a restaurant of this caliper, the smoked drum appetizer incredible(we likened it to smoked tuna dip down in the Florida keys — just better!), and the entrees were memorable. My fiancée ordered the pork shank, which was a sizable portion of pork(which fell off of the bone with no effort), set atop a bed of mashed white beans(which were a perfect compliment to the pork). I ordered the snapper at our server’s recommendation, and was not disappointed. While the filet wasn’t large, it was cooked and flavored comparably to fish at the finest of fish houses. I was very impressed at both the fish as well as the coconut rice and green pairings. For dessert we shared the milk chocolate and salted beignets, which was just the right combination of sweet and salty. Long and short, we will be back again.

Been eyeing up this place since I saw the menu a couple weeks ago. First off, a truly beautiful restaurant with an open kitchen. Split the Oysters Goodenough, which is a fantastic appetizer(I’ll spare you of my bad«Goodenough» puns, which really write themselves). While their burger looked so difficult to pass up, I got the snapper. A fantastic presentation, properly seasoned, and cooked to perfection. What’s more, the supporting ingredients of the dish complimented the fish quite nicely. A lovely curry sauce, baby bok choy, and a mashed coconut rice. Very delicious. Service was very good, and absolutely on par with the style and quality of the restaurant. But what you really want to know: Did I enjoy my meal? Absolutely. Will I return? For sure. Probably for their brunch, which I keep hearing is the real deal.

This is your new favorite place to brunch. Sometimes you go to brunch and you have one amazing dish, one or two things that are pretty good to OK, and one or two things that you found disappointing and wouldn’t have again. Then there are those times that you find a place like Carrollton market. Every dish was incredible. The brunch cocktails, fantastic. The service, the atmosphere, an all-around treat on a Sunday morning. I’m not going to suggest any specific menu item because they were all delicious. I really don’t think you can go wrong with any choice you make here. And if you have any trouble deciding on a dish the staff really knows the menu and can guide you on a journey that will leave you with a happy pallet.

Went here Thursday night with 2 other girlfriends. We decided 2 of us were going to do the coolinary. I got the tuna tartare. It was delicious. for an entrée I got the lamb ragu and that was delicious as well. The place was packed and the service wasn’t great. Very loud and small restaurant. Very expensive as well. 3 people and the bill was $ 297.00. I probably won’t be back.

Okay this place is way cute and seaux New Orleans. My friends and I checked this place out during coolinary week and it was well worth it. We had the tuna tartare, pan roasted verlasso salmon, roasted beeler’s pork shank, oysters goodenough, and lemon icebox pie. Everything was amazing but the tartare, lamb, and oysters were my fave. The lemon icebox was a little more tarty than I would like but texture was on point. I would definitely come back to try other entrees on the menu.

Carrollton Market is in a beautiful location with a relaxing décor, the service was informative, pleasant and attentive. The most amazing part of our dinner at CM was the food, it took me back to meals I’ve had in Europe. The appetizers were delicious and had the whole table talking about the favors of their dish, roasted Gulf Shrimp & Gulf Tuna Tartar. For the entrees we had either Pan roasted Verlasso Salmon with French lentils or roasted Pork Shank with Braised white Beans. These dishes were served with finesse, a beutiful presentation. The pork was tender and moist but the best for me was the crispy skin on the perfectly seared salmon. Outstanding meal!

Great food and great experience This is a small restaurant with very talented cooks and great food! This is a great restaurant to seat down and just have few drinks and have a delicious meal. I took my wife here for a romantic dinner and I was not disappointed, and you will not be either.

Carrollton Market has become a date night staple for us. There cocktails and wine list are small but well done. The place has been refreshed since it was«One,» with a light gray Nantucket feel with open kitchen. I’ve been here 6 times and each has been a hit. The complimentary Parker house rolls are divine and dishes are seafood-centric but don’t forget about the steak frites which has become a favorite with my husband. My favorite dish this far is the gnocchi with meat ragu, pine nuts, raisins and peccorino. Sometimes there are complimentary truffles and don’t forget the«Oysters Goodenough.»

So I hear whispers of a reemergence of brunch I truly believe this is the best brunch spot in New Orleans. And they only do it once a year. Great local favors. Great service Their so called biscuits and debris should be called the«life changing flavorgasm» at that moment when you realize simplicity and perfection collide; dazed and confused you will awaken your senses at Carrollton market. The oyster good enough French omelet is everything I wanted in life and more. Thank you @Carrolltonmarket I am speechless. And that does not happen often

I simply could not wait to get on Unilocal and rave about my experience at Carrollton Market. The food and service were top notch and it was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. We made reservations so we were seated immediately upon arriving. I had been in this space previously when«One» was here and I have to say I like the décor of CM much better. It’s brighter and feels new and fresh. The menu here is pretty simple, which I can definitely appreciate. We started with the Oysters Goodenough which is 4 grilled oysters topped with a cream sauce and bacon. If you are an oyster lover you MUST get this dish. It was incredible and I couldn’t get enough. I almost wanted to order another plate for myself and just call that my meal. Check out my close up picture of the oysters and get ready for your mouth to start watering. For my entrée I got the potato crusted drum, which was served on a bed of brussels sprouts and other vegetables. The fish was perfect. The potato crust added a nice flavor and the fish itself was flaky and delicious. I’ve been on quite the seafood kick lately, as I’ve been eating out a lot, and this is perhaps some of the best I have had. We skipped desert, but we did decide to get coffee. Even though our dinner was late(we arrived 30 minutes before closing– a usual«no no» in my book), we didn’t feel rushed at all and the waiter was kind enough to let us take our time and chat. At one point I joked that we could take our coffee to go but he said he was happy to have some company as he cleaned up for the night. What a sweetie! This place is fantastic and I will definitely return. I am so excited to bring friends here in the future.

On this particular night, my fiancé surprised me to Carrollton Market. Carrollton Market is located on the further end of South Carrollton, among other great restaurants worth mentioning such as Brigtsten’s and Dante’s Kitchen. The restaurant was one of the few things that were actually open in the area. It’s nestled in an almost residential area among a few boutiques that are only open during the daytime. The area is very safe and quiet and has a romantic feel to it… Click here for pictures: Since we tend to order such large amounts, here’s a list of what we ate: 1. The bread is like a biscuit but a dinner roll at the same time. It was so buttery, flaky like a croissant. Loved it! I could eat this for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. 2. The Brick Wall Farms Baby Lettuce salad was light and delicious. I loved the light and citrusy White Balsamic Vinaigrette. 3. The Crispy Sweetbreads, which were bathing in a browned butter sauce. How can you not like anything bathing in browned butter? Note: Make sure you know what you’re ordering. it’s not bread. Sweet breads are a type of offal, a group of edible organ/entrails that are considered a culinary delicacy. If you see it on a menu, you should definitely order it since it’s not common that you see that on any menu. 4. The Oysters Goodenough were like charbroiled oysters, but topped in a Bearnaise Sauce and Benton’s Bacon. They were exceptionally rich and flavorful. My fiancé couldn’t stop talking about them. If only we had room for another order… 5. Cream Cheese Cavatelli topped with crabmeat. The Cavatelli was fresh and perfectly cooked. I loved that although this was a pasta dish, the citrusy and wine notes lightened it up and didn’t make you feel to heavy. 6. Since we had good amount of seafood themed dishes, we decided to order the Potato Gnocchi and Oxtail to finish off the dinner. The sauce was deep, savory, and made for a great finish to the main entrée dishes. 7. The waiter suggested that we opt for a lighter dessert since we were stuffed: the Panna Cotta. It was topped in local strawberry compote and local honey. So light, refreshing and so good. It paired so well with the mini beignets that we ordered on the side. I know, so much for a light dessert, but it’s so worth it! The feel is very romantic and the restaurant is small, but there is room for large groups. Just be sure to set a reservation. I love the menu at Carrollton Market since they offer local items on their menu. There’s a Southern sophisticated flare to each dish. Also, every dish that we ordered not only melded together so well, but it also complimented the other dishes on the menu. I can’t wait to see what they have to offer again soon!

Meh. I’ve been to many of the more upscale New Orleans restaurants(Commander’s Palace, Jacques-Imo’s, GW Fins, Clancy’s, etc.) and Carrollton Market simply cannot compete. It’s a cute little restaurant, but since it’s so small, it’s also INCREDIBLY loud. It was very hard to talk to the people at my table and it killed the ambiance. The appetizers are not shareable and the entrees lack flavor. My scallops were $ 30, so I was expecting a lot. They paled in comparison to scallops I’ve had at Jacques-Imos, which were roughly $ 5 cheaper. Overall, not a bad dining experience, but not a great one either. If I’m dropping this much cash, I want it to be great.

I cannot say enough awesome things about Carrollton Market. I had my birthday dinner here in December 2014 and it was definitely in the top 5 meals of my entire life, maybe even the best. I made a reservation for 5:30 which, on a Thursday, was not really necessary, but it’s nice when the restaurant knows you’re coming and calls you by name. I feel so special and fancy! I sat at the food bar which was very nice. I would only recommend sitting there if you are by yourself or with 1 other person, as it would be beau coup awkward to talk across the bar for the entire meal. Since I was by myself, it was a great plan, as I ended up getting dinner and a show, the show being a bunch of super talented chefs putting together my delicious meal. To start, I had the oysters goodenough and they were not just good enough, they were incredible! They came in the shell over a bed of rock salt and the waiter reminded me a couple times not to take a bite of the salt… guess they’ve had trouble with that before? So be careful. My main course was the gnocchi with braised oxtail, pine nuts, and raisins. It sounded weird, but the waiter told me it was his favorite dish on the menu and his recommendation was spot on. I savored every bite of that dish to the point that I am quite glad I was by myself because any eating companion would have been super weirded out. And finally, the milk chocolate pot de crème with mini homemade beignets! Beautiful, not too heavy, refreshing after the heavy dinner. Absolute perfect way to end the meal. I enjoyed 2 cocktails that were both incredible! Unfortunately I can’t remember the name of the first one, but the second was The Glen and it was the best drink I have ever had. If you know me, you know I’m pretty low-brow when it comes to booze(a G&T or beer will usually do me just fine) but if I could have 1 drink for the rest of my life, it would be the Glen. I would be happy and drunk 24⁄7. On top of all that, the service was perfect. Nice, not overbearing, great recommendations. All in all, this meal was worth every penny. This will definitely be high on my list of recommendations and I will make it back as much as my wallet can handle.
