On a scale of 1 to Panera, I would give this place a solid 27. My friend and I stumbled upon this gem as we were wandering(tourists). Happened to be just in time for happy hour. SCORE. By the way their happy hour goes til 7, how lavish is that? So we ordered some divine drinks(that were merely $ 4-I died), and a couple of appetizers($ 4/each– died again) and really went big on this meal so we also got the bacon burger, which let me clarify is not just bacon on the top… its mixed in like some amazing culinary masterpiece. The food was drool worthy and the waitress was chill as hell. If I lived in New Orleans I def would have slipped her my number awkwardly to be my friend. Aaaaanyways… Lovely experience and I made sure they knew it by writing on the comment card. THEN, today in the mail I receive a handwritten thank you card from them for the kind words. THESEPEOPLEARELITERALLYTHEBEST. I’m not one to say I can’t even, but I mean… I can’t even. F***ing love this place.

My man friend had eaten at Capdeville right when they opened and his memories were jogged when we passed by on an adventure(read: we were trapped in one way street hell) in NOLA. After we finally reached our destination at the Whitney hotel, we decided to brave the extreme wind and cold and walk the 3 blocks to the warmth of Capdeville. The restaurant itself is small, but welcoming with dark interiors and vintage rock n roll memorabilia covering the walls. You get the feeling that you’ve discovered a secret place. After being seated we were quickly greeted and told that it was happy hour — $ 4 small bites and select cocktails, beer, and wine. SCORE! After some thought we tried the Mexican coffee and the Truffle fries to start. The Mexican coffee is a variation on an Irish coffee, with Tequila instead of whiskey and kahlua instead of baileys. It seemed to have nutmeg or something similar, making it slightly perfumey — a taste that I didn’t mind but it didn’t tickle my man’s palate. Instead he ordered a Parish Envie, one of my new favorite local beers, and enjoyed that much more. Just as we devoured the last few mounds of truffle fries — which were delightful by the way — just the right amount of crunch, the SMALL tinge of truffle oil(less is definitely more here, which many restaurants forget) and the delicate bite of cheese, our entrée of 50⁄50 burger with a side of macaroni and cheese arrived. When I took a bite of the half bacon half beef burger with mounds of fresh tomato, pickle, and lettuce on top, I was immediately in love. Cooked to perfect medium, it was juicy and full of flavor, complemented by the crispy bun and runny egg, it’s one of the best burgers I’ve experienced in recent memories. Believe it or not, the meal got even better when I stuck my fork in the macaroni. This stuff is not for the faint of heart, people. Creamy Parmesan bechamel covers the al dente elbow noodles which are then topped with peas, crunchy pancetta, brown butter, and a SLIGHT dash of truffle oil. Amazing. Needless to say, we invited friends to share and then, came back later that night. You’ve got a fan for life, Capdeville!

This place is a hidden gem! Yes, it is tucked away but that is a big reason that I like it. Not showy out front but once inside it has a great atmosphere with a fun music selection and awesome, accommodating staff. Best happy hour around because it last is until 7PM and the happy hour menu selection is a good spread too. Mojitos were amazing! Some of the best I have a had. Couldn’t get enough. I had the grilled cheese with fennel tomato soup and couldn’t have been happier. Boyfriend had the fish tacos that for a random looking thing on their menu were delicious as well. Can’t wait to be back. Hopefully soon to try the rest of the delicious pub type food and happy hour drinks.

Delicious food! I agree with other reviewers regarding the location – it is definitely tucked away and there is no actual sign out front but my group took an Über and were able to find it. Once inside, it’s dark enough to have a slight intimate feel but there’s definitely more than diners on a date. I noticed several girls night out groups and large families as well so I really think it’s suited for all sorts of groups. I started with a cup of tomato fennel soup which was delicious, the SIDE portion of the much talked about mac and cheese(there is an appetizer portion as well but the side portion was quite hearty for one person) which was also very good; it is a little heavy on the garlic(I think that’s the flavor I was tasting…) so just keep that in mind if, for some odd reason, garlic isn’t your thing. For dinner, I had the duck club. I thought the duck was a bit dry but overall, good. There were a number of other things on the menu that I’d probably try before getting the club again. I also had a taste of the broccoli and cheese soup(soup of the day) and that was very good – a little on the spicy side which I like so I hope they’ll have that when I go back. Just a heads up, there are no actual florets in the soup. it’s more of a purée, try it! The server asked if I wanted to add fries to the club and I said no but on my bill there was a $ 1 charge for fries added to my sandwich – while the charge was too minuscule to challenge, had I known they were just $ 1 I’d probably have sprung for them! The only reason I deduct a star is that service wise, it’s just not quite at 100%. It’s not awful but it doesn’t match the quality of food. Server was particularly quiet and when I named the bottle of wine my table wanted, she brought me a single glass. I did say«We’ll start with the…». I don’t completely fault her for that but I’ve never had that mix up happen before. There were other areas of improvement I also observed. I’ll definitely be back though!

If it wasn’t for the deliciousness of their Mac and cheese I probably wouldn’t be back here. We also had the burger which was ok. The fries that we order seem to be what’s left in the bag, nothing but crumbs. This is my 2nd time here and both times, the service was horrible. When we arrived, our server brought us to our table and barely spoked with us. Not sure if she was having a bad night or what but you could tell she didn’t care too much about her job. There were a few things that were on the menu that they didn’t have because they were changing their menu the next day. Apparently their menu changes every month. The place is hidden off to the side of the federal court. There is patio seating out front. The inside was a tad bit dark. Dang I can still taste the yummy Mac and cheese! The best for sure!

Attended a Dirty 30 birthday party dinner here. This nice cozy restaurant is so tucked away it is almost so easy to miss. We had reservations for dinner for a party of 6 on Halloween night. Our server was very helpful and informative on the menu and recommendations. The restaurant wasn’t packed when we arrived around 8:30ish. The table ordered crab dip as a starter and it was delicious. For my entrée I ordered the south west chicken wrap which was nothing to write home to momma about but was decent. I think the large amounts of lettuce they put in the wrap is what made me not as big of a fan. My friend got the vegetarian pasta which she said she really enjoyed and you have the option of adding in some type of For six people an appetizer, one round of drinks, and each their own entrée the bill was about 160 which is not bad at all for the quality of food. When I am back in town I would def like to give this place another try.

Wife and I went while in town for a wedding. I was drawn in by the fried red beans and rice, and those were quite good. Super crispy outside, decent beans inside, and the remoulade was excellent. Great selection of craft beers. Entrees were just OK. She had the fried green tomato poboy, I had the chicken and waffles. Poboy was good, but in NO you can definitely do better elsewhere. Chicken and waffles came with a hot-sauce-infused syrup, which was neat, but where otherwise unremarkable(chicken could have used a little more seasoning). My drink, however, was excellent. I had a very good take on a milk punch — creamy, sweet, and definitely punchy. We went for a «light» lunch(in New Orleans terms) and a drink before the wedding, and it was great for that. I’d recommend mostly for appetizers and drinks. I may have made a poor selection entrée-wise, but just wasn’t that impressed.

They… nailed…it! Everything is awesome! Mac and cheese is bomb. Get the steak, it’s pretty awesome! I might be drunk, it’s New Orleans. They said my review was too short! Words words words!

Best dinner we had during our whole 5 day visit. Very delectable menu: alligator stuffed chicken, blueberry salad dressing, poutine, wraps, BBQ fried oysters… everything we ate was amazing. The interior is beautiful, dim lighting with a perfectly balanced musical ambiance, with an appropriately attentive waitress. Would absolutely, 100% recommend to all. Side note, it located between two office buildings, secluded/hidden when you’re navigating there!

Visited Capdeville for the poutine, and wasn’t disappointed. Thin cut fries, fair amount of curds, and massive amounts of the pepper gravy(sauce au poivre) making the whole thing melt. It’s a «simple fancy» poutine, if there’s such a thing. Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t a traditional poutine(not the right cheese, too strong gravy) but it was delicious — especially given that the portion is huge for $ 7. I also had great service from Marsa and the staff, so I would definitely consider going back there to try some of their other items.

If you’ve read my review on Sylvain, it should come as no surprise that I love this place too! Same owners and another speakeasy type vibe — I do love Capdeville! This is a super fun place to watch games too– they now do free shots during LSU& saints games when our teams score ! Arguably the best Mac n cheese in town. The red beans and rice balls are amaze. And the Burger is legit! Ideal for a date or a group outing !

I had lunch here on Friday with a friend, and we were generally pleased with our meal. Except that it took FOR-EV-ER. But first, the food. I had the gator-stuffed chicken. It was two rings of chicken breast wrapped in bacon and stuffed with alligator sausage. It was served with a berry chutney and corn maque choux type thing. And I chose the side salad with charred onion vinaigrette. All of it was delicious! My friend ordered a fried green tomato and shrimp po-boy with the side salad. Also, I had a voucher for a free dessert, so we had the chocolate peanut butter ice box pie. Ok, not that much, right? We were there for an hour. An hour! No idea how or why it takes that long. It was good though, and the waitress was friendly. So 4 stars.

This may have been my favorite meal the entire weekend I was in NOLA. My cousin and I came in to grab a quick lunch. We both ordered the fried green tomato and shrimp Po boy, with a side salad. They make almost all their dressings in house, and I ordered the charred onion vinaigrette. Everything was fabulous. The Po boy wasn’t greasy at all; the shrimp were fresh and the accompanying sauces were a great addition. The dressing on the side salad awesome. It had a great char flavor, which I found to be really unique for a salad dressing. This is an easy place to miss, but my advice is, don’t pass it up!

Went in around 9:30pm on a Saturday night. There was a decent little crowd watching the last 5 minutes of the Saints game, but we were able to get a seat at the bar. Service seemed a bit frazzled and was curt, but not rude. Ordered poutine, which was tasty, but nothing exceptional. I had a Moscow Mule which was fine, but again very average. The standout was the white sangria which was probably the most delicious sangria I’ve ever had… and I’m a sangria connoisseur(seriously, I used to host Wednesday Night Sangria Club). My only quibble was that it was served in a rocks glass, which given the amount of ice and cut citrus, seems like a stingy drink. The happy hour menu looked good with a nice selection of snacks and drinks for $ 4…and it goes until 7pm, which is a must in my book for a solid HH. I will def go back to Capdeville and hopefully be able to throw another start their way.

Hidden Gem with Good Food We found Capdeville on a night when we wanted a quieter dinner than those we’d had in the boisterous French Quarter on the previous nights. Capdeville was perfect. The food and cocktails were great. The waiter was friendly and very helpful in offering suggestions that varied from menu choices to New Orleans attractions to visit the next day. There were very few people, so it was easy to make a last-minute reservation – which is tough in New Orleans. The restaurant doesn’t seem well known, but certainly should be considering the great food, service, and décor.

The server was really nice, and the chocolate peanut butter pie was so good. I had the steak salad with a side of brussels sprouts, which was fine. The steak was a little too chewy for me, and the brussels sprouts had a little too much pepper.

Really liked the atmosphere here! This is a cute restaurant with great service and a jukebox in the corner. It has kind of an old-fashioned feel and fairly relaxing ambiance, although we came on a night when it was somewhat empty. I ordered the seared tuna salad, which was a little small for a main meal. I asked for no cheese, so I had to pick the cheese out when it came to the table, it was still good though! Looking back, I kind of wish I had picked something else, something more filling. The dessert though was amazing and we scarfed it down. The chocolate peanut butter pie was seriously so decadent and satisfying! I would definitely get it again, but maybe all for myself. The blackberry slump was also really really good, it came with 2 biscuits, warm blackberry coulis, and vanilla ice cream to top. Omg yum. I would come back for the dessert!

The happy hour was great value for the price. I was underwelmed by the truffle mac n cheese, I think the panchetta made the dish so salty and covered the truffle flavoring, same sitch with the parm on the truffle fires The apps were tasty and unique, blueberry duck wontons were yummy!

Stopped in here for a dinner on my last night in New Orleans. After a few days of eating traditional NOLA food I really wanted something a bit more familiar. A friend and I looked up restaurants near our hotel and Capdeville came up. So we decided to give it a try. When we arrived it was about a half hour before closing and they were more than happy to have us. We were literally the only people there. The décor is modern and simple, they even had a juke box. A place I would frequent often if I lived in the area. The steak and frites were AMAZING! The steak was cooked perfectly and the Parmesan garlic fries were a hit. The portions are hefty so be hungry when you arrive. We also tried the truffle Mac and cheese and its probably one of the most delicious Mac and cheese dishes I’ve ever had. This restaurant was a pleasant surprise off the beaten path.

Tried it out for lunch with the hubby. It was okay. My shrimp tacos were pretty skimpy, more tortilla than anything else. My husband got a chicken wrap and was pretty happy with it. The chorizo-manchego fries were really tasty, the best thing we had there. My blackberry mojito was pretty good and there was a good bit for an 8 $ drink. I will say that we waited for about 10 minutes before our waitress came up. Not sure if there was confusion or something, but it took her a while to get to us. Something interesting: our table had padding on the underneath. I have never encountered that in a restaurant before and was pleasantly pleased as I’m always bumping my legs on the tables while crossing and uncrossing them.

Not a long menu but everything we had was super good. I’d recommend the steack — frites: meat was wonderful!
