How it began. Dropped by on sat to see if i needed reservation on sun. Lady said no. Went Sunday and guy asked if i had reservation.. Offered for me to sit n lounge and eat yet there numerous seats avail.(Not sitting at bar with kid to eat… He said oh there will be a wait i said ok how long. «He said 15 min»””. Then next min oh mam itll be sooner. So impression is made he really didn’t want to seat us. So we seated… Got drinks. Ordered food. No one refilled coffee till food came. Food came grits were some yellowy color not inviting so i ex chgd for dried up potatoes that looked to be hours hold. Coffee was whack dirt tasting Décor was beautiful and looked to portray high class; however you can dress up and put lipstick and anything but it dont mean instant class. Im only giving it 1 star cuz i cant do less. Price: overpriced

The service at the swizzle stick bar is very good. The bartender recommended a hearty salad. The signature drink is alright. The ambience at the bar is dim and quiet. It’s a nice place for a quick bite and drink if you are traveling alone.

This is the first review I have ever written on Unilocal after using the service for several years. Let’s just say Café Adelaide deserves it. Their manager, David, provided the best service I have ever received from a restaurant. There was an issue with my check a year ago while taking a large party for dinner. The manager at the time said they would like to offer me some appetizers and drinks the next time I was in town. When I mentioned this to David, he did not blink an eye and went above and beyond to make my experience great. Not only was the service overall outstanding, but the food was some of the best I’ve had in New Orleans. The shrimp and grits and the boucherie biscuit were truly delectable. I will definitely be back the next time I am in town

Let me start by saying that the ambiance in this place is very inviting. The staff was super nice and we never asked or waited for anything. Every single dish we had was top notch! We had the shrimp corndogs(I’m allergic to shrimp, so I did not partake in the seafood tasting.), crawfish ravioli, shrimp and okra gumbo, steak, shrimp and grits, and my niece had Mac and cheese with steak and fries. For Dessert, we tried the cheesecake with blackberry infused steins syrup and the German chocolate brownie with coconut sorbet. EVERYTHING was amazing!!! We can’t wait to go back!

Very delicious food, calm ambiance, great service. We had the three course meal. Started with shrimp gumbo, and he had soup of the day(roasted veggie)– both were very flavorful and delicious. Then we each had the fish option– wow, this was fresh and perfectly seasoned/cooked. For dessert we had the cream cheese and the trio with ginger cookies crushed over a berry tart with ice cream on top– once again, really taste course. Thank you! Great experience

We were recently in New Orleans for 6 nights. Out of all of your dinning adventures, this place came in dead last. We stopped in for brunch and both thought the Open Faced Croque Madame sounded like a good pick. To our surprise, it was not. Their version of this had lettuce under a open faced egg? This was way out of place. We first had to pick the lettuce off and then we noticed the 2 pieces of brioche bread on the bottom were burnt. We sent one back and they did redo the one. Mine I figured I would tough it out and ate it. Neediness to say, it was far from being worth $ 20 each, for some few shavings Chisesi ham on bread with an egg on top. I would suggest for the cost and quality of food, there are much better places to go in New Orleans.

Amazing food for brunch. Swizzle stick for a nightcap. Dinner is also delicious. We include it in our dinning list during all NOLA trips.

It’s sort of like Commander’s Palace except way too modern and with much worse service. It really is quite a disappointment in many ways if you’re used to the other Brennan restaurants. This is more of a very casual establishment certainly designed to cater more to the tourists in the hotel than the locals. I would certainly steer most people that want to experience a traditional NOLA fine dining experience to other spots but for those people that want to wear their sloppy velour tracksuits, shorts and blue jeans please come to Café Adelaide instead of ruining the locals fine dining traditions at Commander’s Palace. There are times and places to be casual and there are times and places for dressing up and we do like our traditions in NOLA that set us apart from the rest of the all casual all the time world outside our civilization.

I was a little disappointed with Café Adelaide. We were so excited to try this restaurant out for the first time after being told by Commander’s Palace that they couldn’t accomodate our entire party for brunch. I made a reservation here during Christmas week for 11 people and from the beginning it wasn’t meeting our expectations. Once we were seated it took more than 10 minutes for our server to come by and take our drink orders. Our server did not seem to be in any big rush to take our order. Once we were able to finally order our food we waited for the great equalizer… FOOD! A great meal will make almost any service deficiency seem like a distant memory. Most of my family ordered either the shrimp and grits or the boucherie biscuit. None of us thought either was a hit. The shrimp and grits were lacking in flavor and the boucherie biscuit wasn’t the best combination of ingredients(pork, poached eggs, creole mustard slaw, and country gravy all served over a biscuit). The soup du jour was a blue crab and cauliflower soup that was excellent! And their bloody marys are top-notch too! I’m sure I will be back at some point but as far as first impressions go it sure was lacking.

Walked in this morning to be greeted with such wonderful staff and huge smiles. It just warmed me and it actually started my day with a chuckle. Had oatmeal with raisins and a Belgian waffle. Both were tasty but I really enjoyed the balloons on the table different from the everyday table centerpiece.

I’m hating writing this review because I expected so much more. I’m a huge Breenan’s fan but you guys… this place disappointed like no one’s business. This was a Christmas celebration for us and it just fell flat. Way flat. First of all, we came here specifically for the turtle soup. Not on the menu. Huh? Apparently there is a turtle shortage. This was my first time hearing this and since I’d been looking forward to the soup all week I was a little more than let down. Secondly, I have to echo the sentiments of my friend Charles. H. «WHYAREWEWAITING?» We are locals, we don’t expect special service by any means, but seeing tourists treated like royalty while the people in your backyard are more than willing to spend their hard earned dollars, and, may I mention way more often than tourists ever will is very off putting. We waited for the wine for much too long, waited for each course for a little longer than expected, the check arrived 15 minutes after requested and were ignored by our waiter for long stretches all throughout our meal. We ended up getting the Reveillion menu. The soup was spectacular but as for the other courses. Ehh.

Sunday brunch. What’s more, it’s going to be a wonderful day when I get THREE martinis — for free! All I have to do is wear my fedora! Oh and buy one entrée :) Truffle blue crab egg white frittata: cast iron baked Louisiana blue crab, piquillo peppers, shiitake mushrooms, parmesan with tomato salad and crispy sweet potatoes. Delicious! Light and fluffy. The taste is subtle and all the delicate flavors come together beautifully. The crispy sweet potatoes is a nice touch. I liked that it was not greasy and the portion size is just right. Plus it stayed warm in the cast iron. Drinks were a little sweet but then most martinis are. They were happy to make it less sweet. Beignets: delicious! Service could have been better. First we weren’t sure we even had a server. Had to ask for sugar for my coffee and the drinks were a little slow. You know you have an experienced waiter when you don’t have to look for them, they magically appear when you need them. We had to look for ours. Aside from our food and service, it’s fun to see the interesting hats from other patrons.

I have visited Café Adelaide for multiple events, Birthday Parties, Special Events, Lunch, and more. I have never been disappointed. Service has always been impeccable. The staff works together to get things down. Your food is on the table and off the time timely. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. What I like is that they can handle groups! I organized a birthday party once and had no issues getting everything together, even with payment! Then I was there for a special event Lunch and Learn and the staff worked well to get the group fed in the time allotted. Food is always yummy! Always flavorful and fresh. I’m a big fan of the Commander’s Turtle Soup. The Absinthe BBQ Cheeseburger is always a winner for me if you are hungry. Also a chicken they did with mashed potatoes was some of the best flavored chicken I had in a while, but it isn’t on the regular menu. PARKING… LET’S ALLDO A DANCE… THEYVALIDATE…

I was visiting New Orleans and wanted to go to some happy hours and this was the first stop I made. I had their Lemon, Thyme & Parmesan Fries, Cornfried Catfish Taco and Honey Baked Duck Ham & Brie Finger Sandwich. It was all really good. I would come back here again to try their other foods. The bar area had modern couches and stools. It was a very sheek, modern and classy restaurant. The service was great, we never had to wait for anything. Our waitress was there when our drinks were empty, filling our waters and brought out our food when it was still hot.

We chose this place because it was close to our hotel and also had good reviews on Unilocal. The catfish look good to me from the pictures so that’s what I decided to have. My wife got the barbecue shrimp and grits. Both dishes had beautiful presentation. The only complaint I have about the catfish is it was very salty. When I mentioned this to the server he acted as if this had been mentioned before. However I was still able to enjoy it. It was cooked to perfection, crunchy and not at all greasy. I also have to say that the potato salad with some of the best I have ever had. It reminded me of how my mom used to make potato salad. The shrimp and grits were also very good but again the shrimp was a little too salty. We took advantage of the $.25 mixed drinks during lunch and had a couple of very well prepared martinis.

This place was exactly what I was looking for on my trip to New Orleans during Halloween weekend! I had wanted so badly to try the turtle soup from Commander’s Palace and was so bummed because we didnt have time to go over there on our lunch. We went here mainly for convenience. Imagine my delight when I found out they were Café Adelaide’s sister restaurant! They even had Commander’s turtle soup there. The soup exceeded my expectations. They finished it with sherry and it was so flavorful! We had also really wanted to try a croque madame in Nola since they are popular there. They had a delicious one with crab and brie cheese! For drinks we had some type of Brandy Alexander and a cajun Bloody Mary. Loved the okra in the bloody! Service was also above average! They squeezed us in without a reservation on a busy Halloween day and bought us dessert when they saw that our food took a little long. So happy we accidently discovered this place, now if I could only find a place in SD that serves turtle soup!

We came here for a group dinner. We were seated at a reserved table right away. The waitstaff was very friendly and attentive. I chose the Wine and Dine special for $ 39. It included a choice of chardonnay, cabernet, or merlot. The main course was the filet with a hollandaise sauce and goat cheese mashed potatoes. The filet was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. The dessert included was white chocolate bread pudding. One word: yum.

Finally got to try this spot for a relaxed Friday business lunch. It was restaurant week as well and the space was buzzing at 1230 when we dined. First off all… it is a Brennan’s off shoot and has the famous 25 cent Martini’s. Menu is not all that extensive but at a place like this does not need to be in order to delight you. I chose Turtle Soup and the Brie and Blue Crab Grilled Cheese. My dining mate went Scottish Salmon which came with a micro green salad. Service was snappy peppy and witty. Seems lunch on Friday in New Orleans are an early beginning to the weekend. Go figure. My turtle soup was rich and satisfying with a splash of sherry. The Grilled Cheese delivered and my fear the Brie would overwhelm the crabmeat were dashed as the combo was a perfect blend. I had a its of the glazed salmon and although not a huge fan being a gulf coast guy, it was tasty, perfectly cooked and would make a great salad topper. I will gladly return and would like to try the cocktail lounge too as it looked very inviting. Nice job CA.

LOVE!!! Came here for Sunday brunch. Firstly, a very fun place just because of the brightly colored balloons on the tables. Secondly, you can’t go wrong with the name Adelaide…(I love Australia) I ordered the egg white frittata and my partner in crime ordered the breakfast that came w eggs and grits. delicious!!! It didn’t look like a lot of food but dang I couldn’t finish my meal! very reasonable prices, waitstaff was superb. Definitely glad we checked this place out! Woo

I came here for a work lunch and I must say we were all impressed. We were seated promptly and waters for everyone followed soon after. We ordered drinks(unsweetened teas) and chatted for a while as we perused the menu. When the waitress came back a while later(for the second time, we weren’t ready the first time), we ordered a round of shrimp and tasso corndogs for everyone. These also came with pickled okra, and we ordered our entrees at the same time. The«corndogs» arrived a short time later and they were fantastic. We each had one along with half a pickled okra. They were served covered in a 5-pepper jelly and crystal hot sauce mixture, which was a perfect complement to the shrimp, tasso, and corndog batter. I found this to be very creative and delicious, with just the right amount of spice. For my entrée, I got a «Creole Lunch Package» of Creamy Asparagus Goat Cheese Soup and the New Orleans East Style BBQ Shrimp. The soup was very good. Silky smooth with a great flavor, although I didn’t catch too much asparagus flavor. Goat cheese and cream definitely dominated this soup, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The BBQ shrimp were seared and served with crab boil kimchi, charred chilis, pork belly, and creamy stone grits with a spicy Asian style barbeque sauce. That seems like a lot going on, but it wasn’t. There was just enough of the side items to keep things interesting, which I really liked. I don’t know if I’d call this dish super creative, but it was pretty good and I’d order it again. My colleague ordered the crawfish tail and pepperjack cheese sandwich, served with a tomato-shrimp bisque; and it looked amazing(and he confirmed as much). I think I’ll order that next time. All in all a fine lunch in the CBD.
