Ordered the Flagship chicken and waffles one order with wings and the other with strips. There was an up charge for the strips. To my dismay the strips were extremely skimpy. In my opinion the uncharge should have been non existent being that you would probably be filled up by just having the wings. Over priced little value. Hopefully they get this taken care of soon, being that I enjoy having restaurants in eastern New Orleans.

Tracy was my server and she was so inviting and welcoming and exciting. … Geesh I am so happy to say I sampled the cornbread and it was soo good. I am going to get the baked spaghetti and wings next. I like what I tasted so far because and the cornbread was to die for. Five star cornbread! !

From the time we arrived I wasn’t sure about this place. It’s now called Ma Momma’s. The staff was friendly but we were the only customers, which is another red flag for me. I placed an order anyway and the only thing I can say good was the cornbread was on point. The so called Mac n cheese is baked spaghetti, yes it’s spaghetti pasta and cheese… who does that??? The Unilocal online menu is different and they justified it by saying they have new owners and a new menu. I was extremely disappointed because they are drawing customers under the original name on Unilocal and using the Food Network credit that was given to the original owners and name, not cool at all!

This place is Awesome! You must try their cornbread. They make it like a Belgian waffle. Yum! Their beignets are better than Café de Monde. They have been featured on the Food Network. It is worth the trip if you are visiting New Orleans.

It was ok. Caught this restaurant on Food Network and decided to try them when traveling to New Orleans. Definitely is not Roscoe’s in LA or Gladys Knights in Atlanta

The food was great. Best Cornbread ever. The most memorable though was the staff. They all were so friendly, helpful and just plain fun. Thunderstorms took out the power for a while and everyone was laughing and joking around. Ma Momma was the best. My first time for chicken & Waffles and I am afraid that she set the bar so high no one else will ever come close.

Amazing food and great service! The restaurant is inviting and wait staff very friendly. Everything is cooked to order, so give yourself time. Delicious cornbread that looks like mini waffles. Hamburger steak with rice and gravy with peas was to die for! Chicken and waffles were best in the city! We will return !

I used to love this place. I went to the actual restaurant and I enjoyed the way the chicken was fried, and the batter they used was tasty and coated the chicken fully. With the waffles, this was a perfect experience. Now, I just went to Gentilly fest, and the quality of the chicken was totally different than it was at the restaurant. No batter on the chicken, and the way they cooked the fries was even different from what the actual restaurant presented. Now here’s the kicker. Three of us had the chicken from there, and we didn’t get anything else in common at the fest. We were all sick from that chicken,(blew mud as a family unit for no less than 24 hours), and later got word from a good friend that worked a booth directly next to them that they were rush frying frozen chicken. Go figure. I want to give this place 5 stars… I do… on the strength of the earlier restaurant experience, but you have to maintain some kind of consistency on and off location.

My experience is VERYINTERESTING. See my husband and I went to this restaurant this year during our honeymoon on 5÷12÷2012. The hostess was so nice and kept us informed as to when our food would be ready. We ordered 2(6 wing/waffles meals) and it was delicious. I normally make this meal at home, so it was great to find a place that sold chicken and waffles all the time. Now for the bad. I am watching a tv show called HEALTHINSPECTORS on the Food Network. It is a show that features restaurants that didn’t pass their last inspection, and shows how bad it is and what they need to do in order to pass the inspection. Based on the show I am watching right now, they had some nasty stuff going on(roaches, nasty grease trap, cross contamination and more) But by the end of the show they were fixed up very nice with almost all new appliances. All I wanna know is if the food I ate was prepared before the show or after? Either way I will be back because damn it the food was slammin!

Finally I was able to get a waffle! Unfortunately, It tasted like the batter is really a mix made by some large company is some random part of the country. And the syrup I was given was Chef’s Mark I believe… That’s a private label brand of sysco, sams, or conco. That made me very disillusioned, that my syrup was runny & cheap. I understand the economics of running a restaurant but that syrup should be homemade or at least a quality brand. The chicken was absolutely awesome and the young lady that took/prepared/served my order was courteous, playful, and honest. I told here I wanted the punch and said I can’t have too much sugar though, is it too sweet? she replied, Yea it probably will be and then offered me another beverage. I appreciated that very much. Big Momma’s is in my neighbor— my office is down the street and I live in the Lake Forest corridor. I will be back again and again… Keep that chicken rolling & buy better SYRUP! I eat & support my community! Go to this place!

Oh yeah this is the good stuff. Got the 6pc wings(Katrina) and waffle(under $ 10). Added on a mac & cheese too, because one can not have too much comfort food. The wings could have been spicier.(side note: in New Orleans if something is labeled spicy and/or hot, that is equal to fatally hot outside of the state). Waffle was the right amount of crispy and good. Mac & cheese was quite good. Something was missing. Most likely it is because I am used to my own version. Still this stuff was worth ordering again.

Went here on 6÷25÷2011. The place wasn’t crowded and I was greeted promptly. My cohort and I each had the 4pc wing deal and a waffle. It was around $ 7 each. With two drinks, the bill was under $ 18. It was worth it. The wings were a nice size and had the perfect crunch and perfectly cooked. They were seasoned just right, not bland but not«offensive». The waffle was big and fluffy but just a regular waffle. I cant say that the waffle was the best I ever had, but the fleur de lis imprint on the waffle added a nice touch and made it even more uniquely New Orleans. It’s just the simple things! This is a nice, easy, laid-back Saturday morning diner. It’s off of the beaten path in N.O. East, an area that has been struggling since Katrina. I am rooting for both the area and Big Momma’s. If you have an itch for checking and waffles, they’ll scratch it. No, it isn’t Gladys, or Roscoe’s, or Chicago Chicken and Waffles(which is the best if you are ever in Chi), and I can appreciate them for not trying to be either. If you want that, go to ATL, L.A., or Chi, respectively. But for New Orleans, Big Momma’s is just right.

Let’s not forget one thing. I am from Los Angeles. I grew up with the infamously delicious Roscoes Chicken and Waffles and my standards for the combo are pretty damn high. And this place is the fucking best. I mean, how much can you say about amazing chicken and waffles, really? I kept eating way after I was full. I kept eating so long that my boyfriend and I almost missed our swamp tour. I even bought two coffee mugs on the way out just to remind myself of the amazingness. In fact I’m drinking from one right now. So taste is the main thing but the ambience and attitude also deserve a serious nod. This was one of the most friendly, inviting places we went to in a city that’s already known for being friendly and inviting. It seems to be a family run business and you get that feel right away. For those of you like me who live up North, this place truly gives that sense of Southern hospitality that tourists fantasizes about. Don’t skip it.

It was empty and it wasn’t that great. It wasn’t anything special at all, it was literally chicken and waffles that didn’t seem to go together like they ought to. Really disappointed. I’m used Amy Ruth’s in Harlem(NYC) though and after you’ve had the best it’s hard for anything else to live up to it. My friend paid extra to get some pink waffles for breast cancer awareness month and the waffles came out light orange. rip off. Order at the counter, pay, sit down and wait for your food.

Really crunchy chicken with a wide variety of sauces. The waffles are fluffy and nice. I never knew that fried chicken and waffles would be such a good combination. Oh and the chicken wings are actual sized wings — not wingettes or drumettes like you would normally get.

This place was just ok. The wings were lightly seasoned and the waffle was good. I’m not trying to be harsh but I guess I compare all chicken and waffle places to Roscoes chicken and waffles in Los Angeles.

This may not be a crowd favorite to sit in and end at but the chicken and waffles are amazing and will keep you coming back for more. I’m a waffle connoisseur(at least in my mind) and these waffles are made perfectly with just the right amount of batter. The chicken is crispy and flavorful. You can also get other breakfast products at this location. To top it off its reasonable!!!

Decided to hit up this place after finding it on Unilocal secondary to my sudden craving for chicken and waffle. I have had chicken and waffle only twice in my life before this and let me tell you after the first time I had it, I fell in love. I never thought such a combination would make my heart soar. So for some reason I decided that during my first week in New Orleans, my stomach needed some loving and some Chicken and Waffle. Big Momma’s was a trip for where I live but seeing as fellow Unilocalers mentioned it was the best, we made the trip. It can be a little hard to find as its located in a mini shopping center; so beware. We were the only ones that were in there for a midweek afternoon and so was surprised about the wait we endured for the food. Once the food came out, I was a little disappointed in the chicken wings. They seemed a little undercooked and lacking flavor.(I then had to break out the hot sauce to compensate) The waffle was good but nothing special. The other half seemed to have liked it more than I did as he devoured the meal without saying a word to me. So the point is that my first experience of Chicken and Waffle in Virginia messed up my overall experience thereafter as I have not yet found chicken and waffle that lives up to that one… This place is good though if you are craving it in this area.
