I have been searching for a place where I can get consistently great BBQ and who knew that it would be located withing blocks from my house. BBQ Kings is for me the best BBQ in the city. The pork ribs were perfectly smoked with great flavor served wrapped in foil to keep warm and smothered in a great homemade sauce. The stars of the show here are the sides, I had a great vinegar coleslaw and baked beans. One of my friends had potato salad that was almost just as good as what my mother makes at home, full of seasonings and lights on mayo. My friends also had a smoked Tilapia sandwich, pulled pork sandwich and hot link sandwich all of the sandwiches were reported to be outstanding. Another friend had the smoked chicken that was outstanding, full of flavor and juicy. What puts this place on top for me is location, the fact that its not some fancy BBQ place its literally someones house converted into a restaurant and the prices cant be beat for quality and quantity. I ordered the three rib dinner that turned out to be about 6 ribs and was $ 10. The sandwiches were about $ 5 with a side. I hope this place does not change because I have found my go-to spot for BBQ. They also have great smoked burgers as well. I am sure I will be going through the whole menu soon.

This place has some amazing bbq. They were one of the few people that were open for Labor Day, you could smell them down the street. The food was little too pricey in my opinion. I would have also like there to be a sitting area, even if it’s a few chairs for when you wait for your food. I would have liked for it to be more of a selection, but I did like how there was a beef rib option.

I visited BBQ King with my husband on 9÷25÷15 and it was finger licking good! We had the King Sampler it was worth every penny. They do not skimp on the ribs and everything was so tender and seasoned well. My husband was impressed with the taste of the smoked ribs. The quantity was so much I had lunch for the next day. The staff was friendly and had great conversation. I highly recommend BBQ Kings if your visiting NOLA. We were on vacation from NYC!

Pretty good barbecue, very good service, very low price. Big sandwich for $ 3.95. Better than The Joint.

If this review has errors in then it’s because I have Bbq sauce on my iPhone screen and I’m probably going to lick it off because this food is just that good. I tried to eat a piece at the red-light and I ended pulling over and unbuttoning my shirt so I could go in. Ms. Lee(my cleaner) would appreciate me for that… Hopefully Apple will just as forgiving about the sauce all over the phone. I digress… I saw a review addressing a wait but if I had to wait 3 hours for this food I would gladly do 5 hours if it would leave me a satisfied as I am tonight… I need a cigarette(I don’t smoke) after that because that was almost as good as sex. If you pull up beside me right now and looked into this car and saw what I did to that chicken and bbq sauce everywhere you would think something provocative happened. It did and now I’m going to sleep… I’ll make it up to you next time… Good nite.

Even though this place is known for Barbecue I get the smoked fish, macaroni, and vegetables. There’s also a beautiful smoked chicken salad available. It’s on point every time. It’s very cozy and welcoming and I like the music choices in this spot. I always enjoy myself whether the food is to go or I eat there.

Well I decided to visit this location at lunchtime because I was dying for BBQ. Although their beef ribs wouldn’t be ready for 2 hours, which made me sad and I couldn’t wait due to it being my lunch period. I will give them a try again. Note: Maybe call before arriving, to ensure BBQ is available. Parking. It may be a little tight. Better parking can be found at each of the corners surrounding the location.

After coming from NOLA I must have mentioned this KING sauce a hundred times… That was my last meal when leaving for NY… The Mac and cheese and slaw was awesome… I could eat here everyday if I could. I had ½ chicken with 2 sides for under $ 8.00 and the BBQ sauce was awesome. You can taste the smoked wood in it. The neighborhood is not the fanciest but when you looking for good food what does it matter

Food: Fresh and good. Seems to be prepared upon order Service: Friendly staff. Overall was a bit slow as only one person working the front and the back. Location: Not what we expected. Not much room inside for dining. Chairs at the counter was way too low, kids had to stand to eat. Overall Experience: Very surprising. Good. I would go back again.

I feel like these reviews are fake or I just had an incredibly unlucky experience. This was not bar b que. It tasted like the meat was cooked in an oven and then drenched in sauce. The sides were good but there was nothing smoky, crispy, or tender about the meat at all. The guy running it was really nice but he said they were out of beef so I missed out on the beef ribs and had pork ribs instead. I’m all for divey places but it borderline didn’t feel like a restaurant. I didn’t tell the guy I wanted it to go but he handed it to me all wrapped up and I didn’t see any silverware any where so I didn’t think eating there was an option.

Probably the best BBQ sauce I have ever had. You definitely must try this place when in NOLA. I remember the old location on Claiborne and Elysian Fields. New location but same great BBQ! Rib and chicken combo with beans and potato salad 5 stars as always.

This place is really, really good. Really, really hard to find, but pretty awesome. After wandering(and usually getting disappointed) by the Uptown/Bywater ‘Cue Joints, we took a ride outside the of the usual areas and headed to Gentilly. This joint is located on Milton between Frenchmen and Elysian Fields, tucked a bit back from the road immediately beyond a small mechanic’s shop. The décor is pretty unassuming, but the place is kept up and clean. Once you enter the joint, you order at what looks like a bar, but is not stocked/used as one. The drinks are mostly cans/bottles. A no-frills kind of place. Believe it or not, they also have barbecue! Probably should get to that part… We arrived with a decent crew, so we ordered all the meats and sides in the form of two combos with a link. They have Beef Ribs, Pork Spareribs, White and Dark Chicken, and Sausage. The sides were Potato Salad, Baked Beans, Mac & Cheese, and Mixed Veggies. On to the MEAT! Beef Ribs — These were awesome. Hands down the best in town. Big, meaty, and tender. All of the meat had a nice smoke ring and a solid hickory flavor. The fat was rendered to a level of delicious guilty pleasure that is often hard to hit. The big concern when we were served was the generous use of barbecue sauce — which I am usually not a fan of at all. The King Sauce was surprisingly excellent. It was a thinner version of a standard sauce. I would guess it had molasses and vinegar added to a heavy tomato base. Whatever it was, is was almost the star of the show — but still a distant second to the Pitmaster. I could not tell if a dry rub was used because of the heavy sauce. Pork Spareribs — These suckers were really good, too. They are the full slab ribs, not the typical St. Louis trim style. While you get a bigger rib, you also get that annoying cartilage as you dig for every little bit of smokey deliciousness. Very tender, great pull on the bone, and nice smoke. A really good rib. Like the Beef Rib, these suckers were sauced to all get out — which was once again really tasty. Chicken — Since we had an entire half Chicken we tried both the White and Dark Meat. It was delicious. The dark meat was incredible — tender, juicy, smokey, and sauced up. I can’t really say enough about the King’s Sauce. The white meat of good, with the breast ‘cued about perfect. The SIDES! I am going to lump them all together in this review. They were nothing special. They did the job, and did not add or detract from the meal. I would guess the Mac & Cheese and Potato Salad were not homemade, and were pretty bland. The veggies were steamed veggies, and not anything spectacular. The baked beans appeared to be from the can. As seen from my usual reviews, most of the sides around town appear to be pretty horrendous. Although the beans were probably from a can, at least they were not crunchy! The fact they didn’t blow it with the sides is a good thing. THEVERDICT!!! Overall, I was surprised that I enjoyed sauce on my ‘cue! Definitely an exception. The sides were just kinda there, but did not hurt the experience. I am going Four and a Half Stars on these guys(half a star loss for the sides), which gets rounded up to a NOLA Record Tying Score of FIVESTARS!!! Get out there and check out the little place that have been doing it right was a long time — I am pretty sure this ‘Cue Joint is a off shoot of H&P Bar B-Q Masters of days gone by.

This sauce is the best I’ve tasted in a long time. I had the beef ribs with Mac and cheese and potato salad and it was delicious. The meat literally feel off the bone and the sauce was the icing on the cake. The portions are quite large so my lunch was also my dinner but when it tastes good, I don’t mind eating it twice. If you’re in Gentilly stop by.

It was so good. The restaurant is unassuming, but that’s how a BBQ joint should be, right?! The food was so good. The ribs were meaty and tender, the chicken was moist. It was smoky and well seasoned, but not overly salty like some BBQ. Their sauce has to be homemade; it was awesome. Great potato salad, tasted like my grandmother’s! Can’t wait to go back.

Smoky & sweet. Very good BBQ. We had chicken & pork ribs. Both done right. Some of best in LA I’ve had. Sauce is sweet style. Potato salad-good. Mac n cheese-good. Beans-very good. Lots of food for the price. Combo plate enough for 2.

Man! On Man! This is some good BBQ flavor. Never heard about this place but apparently it was reopened after serving New Orleans for a long time. I enjoyed the bbq chicken, baked beans(yum) potato salad and mac & cheese. I felt like I was at a back yard bbq of a grillmaster on the Food network. It’s a very small place, just a bar seating. I would suggest takeout and eat at home.
