Looks like a dive on the outside but don’t be deterred. Awesome breakfast and lunches, basic but well-prepared. Sit at the counter and have a great conversation with the owner/chef. He couldn’t be more engaging, depending on how busy, and you’ll feel like a regular by the time you leave. And there are a lot of regulars. I went twice for breakfast and wished I had discovered the Azalea earlier on my business trip to New Orleans.

I like the atmosphere of Azalea Grill, but never do love the food. The antiquated and charming building has that old diner feel to it and always has just what you would expect in terms of an attentive and bluntly spoken waitress. The food is just ok… I find myself oftentimes underwhelmed with the taste, but not enough to stop coming. There is also a nice bar in the back… good for an after work drink. BOTTOMLINE: Old school diner type breakfast joint out in Old Jefferson.

I stopped here this morning to grab a quick bite to eat. This place was nearby so I decided to give it a shot. I noticed that most of the people that frequent this place are regulars. They all seemed to know the owner and his wife pretty well. But none the less they were still incredibly friendly though. The food was very good too. I tried there french toast with eggs and sausage. All were very good, they even managed to get the eggs over medium right. They were pretty quick with the food also. I sat at the counter so I could see them cook my food. Believe it or not my meal was under $ 10. This place is a mom and pop roadside diner. The one thing I definitely noticed was that the owner really likes Coca cola. He had tons of old billboard signs and collector platter all over his wall. In short this is a fast, friendly, and cheap place to grab some breakfast.
