A truly great pub to go to for drinks and sports. Love the beer selection they have and the place is much bigger than it looks from the outside; they have an outdoor section that is unseen from the front. Compare to many other bars around the area, this is one of the cleaner ones with the price to show it. The bartenders are far from the best in town, but they are one of the better ones on Oak Street; though I have never been here when it’s packed. Last time I came here, I fancied an old fashioned. And while the bartender used all the right ingredients with the right counts, she didn’t prepare it properly. So, from a bartender to a bartender, I gave her a few tips and she got it right for the couple next to us. The Maraschino cherries she garnished were to die for. Would definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for a place to drink on South Carrollton as it’s one of the better bars in the area.

A nice place for a beer, some decent food, and to watch sports. The patio is nice and set up with enough tvs to enjoy a game.

Really enjoyed flight night. I thought the snacks were over priced. I would not recommend the pretzal bc it was small, expensive, and had watery cheese. Good vibes an upscale sports bar. Would recommend to a friend.

This is a great spot on oak street. It is a pub with a little courtyard that it shares with the wine bar right next door. So no matter what you are in the mood for you can get it here from lab sliders to shrimp toast! Ale has a great selection of beers and the bartenders are knowledgable and will help you choose. I like sour beers and she selected one called fierce and it was true to its name! I appreciate when the bartenders really know the selections well. The pub foo was good. I had the lam sliders — too much mint sauce but good. My husband chose the cuban — it was pulled pork style. Neither of us cared for it that much. The next door wine bar has ½ off all bottles under $ 60 during happy hour so I of course took advantage and got. A bottle of bubbly — I chose the sparkling Riesling and it was actually more Dry than sweet. Not bad but I was expecting sweeter or a Dessert wine. They have a pretty good selection but if it was not half off too pricey IMHO — better off going to bacchanal wine! The three stars are for the ambiance and variety! Which is great when you are there with a large group with different tastes. Food was okay, next time Ill heck out the wine bars selection.

Great local bar to hang out with a group or catch a quick drink. Great beer selection as well as mixed drinks. Food is very good, but not if your hungry.

Ale is a neat place on Oak to pass buy for a pint on a Friday or Saturday night. Bartenders are friendly and quick with the service, or at least acknowledgement. Keep in mind, this place was busy the first night I went, not as much the second so expect the quick acknowledgement. Outside seating is covered and there are plenty of TVs around along with a shared space with Oak wine bar next door. Overall this is a neat spot of you’re on Oak St. and your party can’t decide if they want wine or beer more, everyone can get what they want.

Ale is a pretty cool beer spot. While I wouldn’t go and call it the BEST beer bar in the city, they do a good job of representing some of the best craft beer out there. We stopped in semi-late(11 or so) on a Saturday night and the place was slam packed. We were able to find a spot at the bar and looked over the beer menu. I got a couple of IPA’s which I enjoyed. As I said, this place has a pretty good selection. I have a few complaints: the bar is really loud– don’t expect to have a conversation of any sort, if the place is at full capacity. Service is slow– this is understandable considering the crowd, but just a heads up if you are out one night and in the mood for a «quick» drink. There are a lot of tvs– like almost too many for the size of the space. I get that they want to have tvs to show games and stuff, but if there is no game on there is really no need to have a different tv movie playing on every television. I doubt anyone here was paying attention, so just turn the tvs off and let people chat. There is seating outside, but on the night we came it was pretty cold, so we decided to just stick it out indoors. I actually plan to return on maybe a week night when it won’t be so crowded to see if my experience is different. If it is, I will definitely re-review. I would also love to be able to sit out on the patio on a night when it isn’t 40-something degrees.

Kind of a loud sports place but I can’t complain too much about anyone who makes a blackberry mule that good. Loved the dog-friendly patio and meeting other folks’ dogs was a great conversation starter.

The oyster sliders are, frankly, the bomb. Eat them. Lots of them. Coincidentally, they also have an awesome selection of beers on tap. Because: yay, beer!

Lovely bar with a fun patio! They have wine and liquor, but obviously beer is their specialty, so I’d stick to that. The flight of four beers is a great deal and you can customize it if you wish. Otherwise, they have a ton of brews on tap if you just want a pint! Bartenders are quick enough and the ambiance is chill — I love hitting up Ale on a weekday night. Update! Dropping them a star because I’ve had a very rude bartender the last two times I visited. There’s usually more than one behind the bar, but the same woman has been chock full o’ tude twice in a row.

I didn’t try the food, so I can’t judge that. I don’t drink beer(just stick to the cider), so I can’t judge that either. I can, however, judge the ambience and my experience there. I love how this is the more casual side and when you walk across the patio, you are in a completely different atmosphere. The patio/outside area is really cute. When I went on a Saturday night, the place was full(but not too packed) with many young couples and groups of friends that were mostly around my age(mid twenties). Aside from it being really loud, I think it would be a nice place to end a date night. I enjoyed my experience and will likely be back.

The best thing about this place, the night I went in, was the bartender. I hate that I didn’t get his name! He was awesome, and helpful. I couldn’t decide what I wanted to eat between the brisket tacos and the oyster sliders. He suggested the sliders, and I went with the tacos! When my plate came out there was a slider on there, «to show me why I should of listened»! Boy was he right! He also gave some nice suggestions when I told him I wanted to branch out try some new beers. The vibe in this place is great as well. The crowd wasn’t overwhelming even though it was a Friday evening. We sat at the bar, but there’s a nice patio area shared between them and Oak. I’ll be back, surely!

Ale has a pretty extensive beer selection(duh!), as well as some tasty specialty cocktails. I do not like that you have to order food at the bar. The bartenders are busy enough, having them take food orders is just a distraction. They need a waiter or two. Although the cooks/busboys do bring your food to your table. So that helps somewhat. however, I do like that you can sit out on the patio and order from both Ale and Oak. My SO, aunt, uncle, and brother all sat on the patio and ordered from both places. My uncle ordered a bottle of wine for my SO and himself from Oak. My aunt ordered a specialty cocktail from Ale. And my brother and myself had beers from Ale. We also all ordered food from both places. My SO and I split the lamb sliders from Ale, and they were very good. Good amount of lamb, seasoned and cooked well. And a feta spread as well. We also got to taste some of my brother’s poutine. Also very good. All in all, we were very happy with our trip to Ale, and I can’t wait to go back.

This is one of my favorite neighborhood go-tos. The large patio is great for al fresco dining and watching sports and the inside is small but has nice seating options. Service is at the bar, and it’s usually staffed well. I’ve had only one not great experience getting prompt service. The drinks are a bit spendy, but they are well crafted(along with Barrel Proof, this is a fave spot of mine for Hemingway Daiquiris) and they have a nice selection of beer on tap and in cans. Sunday’s special is $ 5 Bloody Marys and Mimosas. The food is also steeply priced, but everything I’ve had has been delicious. The debris fries are aces with an nice helping of cracked black pepper. Other good dishes I’ve had are fried dill pickles, brisket tacos, oyster sliders and a nice arugula salad.

I want to give this place four stars, but the overpriced food is holding me back. Great location, beautifully renovated space. Outdoor seating is lovely during the few weeks of spring we get, and there is a decent selection of local brews to keep you satisfied. You will drunkenly pay $ 8 for a tiny skillet of Mac n cheese. And even in your drunken stupor you will recognize it is both delicious and outrageously overpriced.

When you get chicken wings, the celery that comes out with the wings is pickled. And it is magnificent. Get the wings. Oh, and some drinks.

Found myself on Oak st today, I actually have some friends that live down there and they’ve been telling me about Ale for about a month or so, finally decided to stroll on in. From the street, it looks like a space that nothing is happening in. In fact, it’s quite easy to miss. The inside is real clean and modern looking, nice wood finish on the tables, floors, and the back wall by the kitchen. There’s sure no shortage of TV’s in this place tho, there’s one in view just about anywhere you sit in the place. Outside is no exception, plenty of outdoor seating and TV viewing. There’s another bar connected via the patio but it wasn’t open when we were there so I only got to peek in through the windows, seemed legit tho. Didn’t try any of the food, but I did want to sample the fried bread pudding. I thought 6 or 7 dollars was a bit expensive for fries but they were going out to other tables by the crap-load so I guess they’re worth it. I’ll keep them in mind if I find myself back in there.

My friends and I decided to try ale NOLA for the first time as our pregame spot for Mid Summer Mardi Gras. I’m very glad that we came early since it got crowded close to the parade time. There were a few people already hanging out when we arrived, but we were able to score seats at the bar and weren’t crowded at all. There were a number of TVs to watch sports on and we were able to easily talk amongst ourselves. The bartender was a little eccentric but friendly enough. I tried the UFO on tap for the first time and I’m definitely a fan. It’s the better-tasting step-sibling of the Blue Moon family. I like that they have a large selection of your non-typical bar beers, both draft and bottle. Although I didn’t hit the tough stuff that early in the evening(it was a «marathon, not a sprint» kinda night), their liqour selection is solid. My friends put in an order of lemongrass wings and hotpockets to share. I had a bite of the hotpockets and it was good. The lemongrass wings were a hit! My friend even noted that those wings were one of the best he’s had in a while. Kudos to ale! I think the booze and food were all reasonably priced. That, combined with good atmosphere, and the fact that it’s stumbling distance to my house… I’ll definitely be back.
