The place is small and the selection is scarce but all of the items in this cramped up space are of great quality. I love knowing that you can stop in to buy a slice of praline cake or praline muffin. The cake is only $ 15 but more than most people would want. Need more than a slice, no problem. Buy a loaf. Smaller than a whole cake and less expensive too. If you are not a fan of pralines, there are other goodies you would enjoy. The king cakes are tasty as are the brownies and baklava.

Every single baked good I’ve ever had from Adrian’s has been great. Their donuts are lovely. Their baklava was great. Their fritters and cookies and cupcakes are stellar. So why the 2 stars? The service SUCKS. I’ve had one good experience with the service here. Just one. I place a $ 50+ order for birthday treats? The woman taking my order can’t keep her attention focused on me(the only customer in the shop) long enough for me to even get confirmation that she understood my order. I was understandably nervous that she’d written something wrong down because she was in too much of a hurry to get back to… something? Oh, and I wasn’t given a receipt or confirmation of my order, which I thought odd. When I picked up the birthday order, things went really well. The woman we worked with then was stellar, and I loved dealing with her. She was friendly and pleasant, greeting us when we entered the store and recognizing us as the only advance order of the day left on the shelf. She went over my order before I walked out the door so I knew we were getting what we wanted.(Whew.) I’ve been in twice since then, and both times I was practically interrogated by the women working behind the counter when they finally appear from the back.(No one really stays behind the counter.) Today was the worst. I walk in, and she appears from the back a good 4 minutes later and yells, «Did someone just leave?» Ummm, no? I just walked in? No greeting. No «what can I get you?» offer. Nothing of the sort. Not to mention she got my order wrong. I asked for 3 of the chocolate-topped donuts, and she gave me 3 chocolate donuts with regular glaze. What is that? Not what I asked for is what. I’m tempted to march back over there and fuss. ALSO! This is a serious beef: NOONEWHOWORKSHEREKNOWSWHAT A YEASTDONUTIS. You know what a yeast donut is? The same thing as a basic glazed donut. Yeast as opposed to cake. Good god, people. Your shop sells dozens and dozens of donuts a day. You’d think a few simple terms like«yeast donut» would slip into the vocabulary. If Adrian’s could get the service piece down, I’d be willing to up the stars. This place should be a 5 star business, but I cannot fathom giving 5 stars for the stilted, rude employees. Go for the donuts, brace yourself for the bad. Accessibility notes: door opens in. High counter. No posted prices. No Braille signage.

So I’m minding my own business, waiting for the bus when this guy walks past me with a box of pastries from this place. I asked him if that’s his first time there. He tells me no, stops and asks,“Why don’t you try one for yourself?” We all know how this ends. Fresh and tasty, soft and sugary, those glaze circles of fried dough made my morning. I’ll be happy to buy something on my own.
