Located on the very cool Fulton Street, 12 Bar has the potential to be a great place. Unfortunately, I just thought it was OK. I was here for the screening of a friend of a friend’s film. While waiting and drinking, I noticed a few things. This bar has couches. Not just one couch, but several. There was even an area with multiple couches that resembled a living room. My friend and I were able to lounge on one of these aforementioned couches and people watch. The crowd at this bar was somewhat diverse. There were guys in suits along with people dressed very casually. The bartenders weren’t rude, but they weren’t friendly either. It seemed like ordering a beer from some of them was an imposition while others were a bit more cheerful. After the film premier it looked like there was going to be some sort of modeling show, but we opted out. I guess this would be a good venue to put on a show since there is the adjoining stage area. I like the area where 12 Bar is located, I just wished I liked the bar a bit more. I am going to another event here in a few weeks so hopefully I will learn to like it a bit more.

This isn’t a bad place, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit. I came here for the first time to watch the première of a friend’s film project. There’s a bar area and then a separate area for a private party. The clientele here is… interesting. There was one guy in there who was drinking out of a huge«Walk Ons» jug and cursing up a storm. I got the impression that he worked there, but I could be wrong. I did like that 12 bar had sofas. My friend and I hung out and people watched for a while, as we waited for the show to start. There are pool tables and tvs, if you are in the mood to watch a game. If you are looking for something, in the same area but a little more upscale, check out Ernst Café next door.

Dudes. I live at this place lately. I realize I’ve just outed myself as a budding alcoholic(though, probably not by New Orleans standards), but bear with me for a sec. It actually takes a lot to make me actively want to go to a certain bar. I’m very picky. I don’t like being too crowded, I don’t like smoke so thick that you can’t see people through it, I want to hear my friends talk, and I want to sit down at some point. Luckily, 12 Bar passes all of my tests, and then some! It’s roomy, clean, and has a guitar design on the ceiling over the bar. How bad ass is that?! To the side is a big ol room with a big ol stage, and every time I’m in there, I really want to hop up there and belt out some show tunes. Don’t judge. I should also mention that one of the biggest selling points of 12 Bar is the fact that they have the best bartenders I’ve encountered. I’m not talking about fancy-pantsy mixology, because honestly, I wouldn’t know the difference. I’m a beer girl, for the most part. I’m talking about personality. I love those guys! Craig(who we call Craigslist) once gave me an inflatable elephant, which he autographed(he’s kind of a big deal). .. well, that’s when he won my heart. ;-) One last thing. .. 12 Bar is what we like to call a «Stomper bar.» If you don’t know who the 610 Stompers are, well, shame on you! But go check out their website and educate yourself: . It is no secret to the regulars in the Unilocal community that I’m a 610 Split(the female security force for the Stompers), so of course, I love this fact! But I think it adds a level of humor and fun to the general vibe that everyone enjoys. Lots of dance-offs and awesome events happen here. Okay, I lied. There is one more thing. Great live music! Brass-a-holics on Wednesday nights, for one. .. seriously, y’all, check this place out. *Whew! That was my first review in a WHILE. I’m a little rusty. ;-)

This is a great bar for private events and live music. The place is split into two long and narrow rooms with one half being the main bar area that has a cool ceiling shaped like a guitar and the other room being the stage area for viewing music. I’m friends with the owners of this place and they generally keep things running pretty well here. The main thing that gives me the«blues» about this juke joint is that some of the bartenders here are sometimes not my favorite as they seem unable to handle large crowds well and can be painfully slow while they also have some other bartenders that just seem to always be slow. If it wasn’t for the inconsistent to occasionally poor service this would be a four start joint. They are still a pretty new establishment so they are still breaking in the staff so with time I would expect the service to improve. I would come here more often except for its location, as I don’t hang out in the Warehouse District that much, and parking is never easy in the area. If you’re looking to book a private party or event this is certainly a nice venue to check out. As far as just hanging out here as a bar it is usually more fun on nights when they have a good band and they generally keep a pretty full music schedule. One area where this bar seems to really excel is that they probably have some of the best and most spacious bathrooms I’ve ever seen in the area bars so that should be good news for all the ladies.

Stopped by here for the first time the other day, and so far I’m definitely a fan. We were only there for a few minutes, but the staff was super helpful, the space is pretty awesome, and I can’t wait to go see a show here! The bar is divided in half, so one side is the bar, with a couple of lounge areas(couches and so forth) and a pool table. The other side is the music venue part, with a stage and what looks like plenty of room to dance. Plus a couple highboy cocktail tables here and there for good measure. It’s been open less than a year, but still, I’ve been remiss in not having been here yet. As I said, so far I’m a fan. I’ll report back soon when I’ve had a chance to spend some more time here!
