Pretty bad. Ordered a turkey sandwich and was surprised at how quickly they had it ready. I ordered it to go, and something told me that before leaving I should open the bag and check the sandwich. Sure enough, the bread was cold — obviously it had been made hours earlier and stored in the fridge. I asked the server whether the sandwich was made fresh, and he said yes, it was made fresh 20 minutes ago. Not sure how that translates to «fresh», but judging from how cold it was, I’d say it had been made a couple of hours prior. At $ 12 for a turkey sandwich, I’d expect much better. And the attitude of the servers was downright surly. They did make me a fresh sandwich, but with their demeanor they made it clear that they believed I was unreasonable. I will not be going back. If I want a pre-made sandwich, there is always Pret, where at least the prices match what one is getting.

I had a very sad sandwich at the Chelsea Piers location of ‘Wichcraft. I decided to make half a sandwich out of the fixin’s by disposing of one half the bread and doubling up on half the scrawny portion of meat. I figured I could move half the avocado into my poor little half sandwich, but I could not, since it was the very thinnest veneer of avocado spread. Yech. On the other hand, this location has a great upstairs section where you can sit in great comfort and privacy and conduct a small business meeting, an illicit affair or just do your same old boring word processing or game playing.

Service is quite slow and the staff had an uncalled for attitude. Too bad there aren’t alternatives nearby.

Terrible service. There would be 5 people behind he counter all taking with themselves and not serving the long line. Staff all has attitudes. If there was any other place on this pier, it would wipe out wichcraft. This place is only good for grab and go.

Decent food served however overpriced. Perhaps due to the location, being Chelsea Piers, they up the prices but still. Friendy service.

Im still sitting at this place and im so disturbed i had to write my review now. This place doesnt even deserve one star. The employees are so slow and confused. It took them easily 20 minutes to make two sandwiches. We were so tired of waiting my boyfriend went inside to check on our order and found one sandwich made. When he asked the employee about the second one we ordered and clearly visible on the receipt in his hand his response was ‘uh. I can make you another one.’ Like he was doing us a favor! When i pay for food i usually want what i paid for! Finally we start to eat our roasted turkey with ‘avocado’ and ‘aioli’ and what we found was instead green and white slop! It was nasty! I shouldnt have eaten it but i was famished and was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. Nasty. I would never eat here again nor would i recommend this slop special! Ugh. Wasted calories.

This is the best option for food at the pier. Decent healthy options for kids and adults. We had them make tuna and chicken salads fresh versus picking from pre-made items. We had a couple cold beers and some organic tea. There is comfy upstairs seating with a view. Kids had mac n cheese. We spent $ 70 for lunch which felt a bit over priced. We had our puppy with us too.

Used to be great spot for a sandwich. They don’t make sandwiches fresh anymore and the quality dropped from 5 to 3 star lunch option.

After a morning jog, I would on occasion stop by to get a tea to take out to the water, where I’d recoup and prepare myself for the day. It wasn’t until I dropped in for a bite to eat, that I realized what a terrible business it was. It’s a huge space, perfect for people who need to quickly drop in to grab a drink or bite to eat. There’s quite an eclectic group of people both on weekdays and weekends– From mothers who are waiting for their child’s gymnastics class at Chelsea Piers to end, to the older couple who needs a break from the sun whilst strolling down West Side Highway. They have plenty of seating, on the ground floor, second level, and outside. However, the service and food could not have been any more of a disappointment. The sandwiches weren’t heated up thoroughly. And we had to wait about 20 minutes for two sandwiches, and this was not during their peak busy hours. They seemed to be closed recently, but it might only be for renovations. Only swing by if you are in dire need of a bottle of water. Nothing more.

This is a terrible restaurant. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and it took more than 30 minutes to make a simple sandwich. If they offer this sandwich, it should not take 20+ minutes to make. We saw many people who ordered their food 10 – 20 minutes after us get their food before us. Although, when the sandwich FINALLY came out, the guy was nice enough to give us some free fries. The food wasn’t even worth the wait. The grilled chicken sandwich was only okay. My friends also said their food(chicken tenders) wasn’t good. The fries were extremely bland and the napkin dispenser was empty. All in all a bad experience.

There are a few times when service and food are miserably awful that I just have to say it aloud. If the staff were 80 years old I could understand why they operate in geologic time, but they are under 30. Maybe that is the problem for they do more socializing behind the counter than service in front of the counter. The food stinks. no taste, sad preparation and abysmally late to the table. I give Wichcraft a minus zero!

Located right by the water and skatepark, I can see them getting a lot of business through visitors and tourists alike. The ordering process was odd, as you pay at the register, but there is a sign elsewhere down the cafeteria style line that says«order here». Nice spacious area to hide and take a break from the heat during the summer seasons, and the food tasted fresh, as we ordered a regular grilled cheese and cuban melt sandwich averaging $ 10 per sandwich.

These sandwiches are very tasty. For less than $ 10, it is a good value for NYC. You order at the counter and then they call your name when it is ready. There is indoor and outside seating. We had an egg sandwich and a goat cheese sandwich that were both excellent. It is nice to share a variety of sandwiches with a friend. They have cookies too at the counter. Bottled beverages for your selection. IF in the area, and hungry I would eat here again.

So I’ve been here twice now. The first time I had the Cuban and it was okay not too crazy about it but this second time I went I had the smoked ham pressed sandwich with pears and mustard and oh my goodness it was sooooooo delicious! I loved it so much. I’m curious to try the rest of the menu now. The location is nice because it’s right off of the pier so you have a nice view of the water.

The menu is large with many choices. I ordered the eggs ranchero breakfast sandwich. The blackbean dip they spread on the bread was very good. The big disappointment was that the egg was not real. Instead of a fresh cracked egg the sandwich had a rubbery, egg substitute that had no flavor. This made me wonder what other fake foods this restaurant uses as a substitute for real food. The service was not too friendly. I will not be returning.

A great salad. Fresh ingredients — tasty combination. I had the chicken salad sandwich as a salad. My friends enjoy the tuna sandwich and goat cheese sandwich. They loved them as much as I enjoyed my salad. Beautiful view of the Pier. Solid lunch spot. Recommendation — GF bread selections would be great for those that need it.

I went there a few times during my NYC trip for Fourth of July as they were conveniently located on the pier. Sandwiches were great — no complaints at all here. Same sammie menu as their SF location. But the A/C was too cold and they didn’t have the delicious cookie sandwiches that they carry in their SF store.

I don’t know what the problem is with this strategic location. Somehow good food can never be produced here. I’m always at Chelsea Piers… it would be nice if I could stop by instead of passing by, but alas, looks like the latest incarnation of this lovely corner spot must remain in my blind spot. I know they went through a lot with the Sandy flooding, and I wanted to give them a fair chance. I would happily support a decent food establishment on the piers. I seem to recall liking Wichcraft elsewhere, or at least having a tasty sandwich, but the thing I had here… what happened? A pile of chalky mush on bread, hard grey chicken, gristle, no promised kale… and it took like 15 minutes to make it even though I was one of maybe 4 people in the place. The ONLY good part was the panini-fied bread, though it was grilled to mouth-scraping crispness. Ouch, all around :-(

Chelsea Piers is notoriously minimal when it comes to providing decent food options. So you’d think that Wichcraft would make the most of its virtual monopoly on casual dining. Instead, it’s proof that monopolies are bad for consumers. I came at an off hour, and maybe that’s why the staff seemed so curt and inattentive. The coffee tasted as if it had been brewed in the distant past. Nothing looked clean or even tidy. I would be amazed if owner Tom Colicchio is even aware of this location. If he were, he’d have to apologize to every Top Chef contestant he ever criticized. On a positive note, the space is high-ceilinged, bright, and spacious. On the second floor, you’ll find a couch-filled lounge with a great view. I recommend holing up there while you wait for your kid to finish bowling/skating/jumping into pits of brightly colored balls.
