I’m sorry, but I just don’t understand why people are going crazy for this place… Im not saying it’s bad, but it really isn’t something to rave about. I ordered a regular coffee and my boyfriend ordered an espresso shot. I loved my coffee, but that’s just because I simply love coffee in general. It wasn’t far off from Starbucks. My boyfriend orders espresso shots pretty often, but didn’t like the one from here. If you happen to be walking around Chelsea Market, grabbing a coffee at Ninth Street Espresso isn’t a bad idea! But I wouldn’t recommend that you go out of your way for it.

Very no frills coffee shop with limited menu. I had the espresso with milk and it was superb. If you want to have a coffee and run this is the place.

My favorite drip coffee & espresso!!! All of their coffee blends are fantastic. My favorite is Giant Steps, it’s my go to take home bag. Highly recommend for all coffee lovers.

Perfectly fine, but not notable in any way. Minimalism rules here: one type of brewed coffee, served hot or iced. Espresso drinks, with or without varying amounts of milk. That’s it. No choice of beans, no flavorings(not that I’d use them, but you might), no insulating sleeves for the cups, no pastry or other food items, no credit cards, no seating, no friendly chitchat with the staff. Get your drink, pay cash, go. The espresso-based drinks I’ve had from here are good: the espresso is brewed strong and rich, the milk(if you opt for it) is properly micro-foamed. Twenty years ago that might have been noteworthy, but now, drinks like these are commonly available at lots of places. The nearby Blue Bottle(just a block away) is a better option.

Boutique coffee hype. Signage is awful! A cup with no name? Laughable. Long lines for watery iced coffee. Do-it yourself atmosphere. Located by elevators, next to ogling vagrants: salivating over your purchase. Views of stacked cups and piping. Worst, cheap beans and coffee lids. Only saving grace; its in a warm mall. Cash only! All business, no love. Rebel Reviewer says: 2 stars.

One of the most delicious and simple espresso and milk that I’ve ever tried. However, the cashier was very RUDE!

This guys really have their espresso down right perfect, from the method of extraction to the coffee beans they use. All espressos are based in the tradition Italian espresso that’s tends to be a little smoky and bitter. With today’s great variety of coffees is becoming very difficult to find a very well balanced espresso. This guys have pulled it off. Their espresso is with hints of chocolate very low in acid and with bold earthy flavors. Almost like a traditional Italian but less smoky and bitter. EXCELLENT!

Came here to Chelsea Market during the day on a weekday and decided to check out Ninth Street Espresso. Holy Moly, this was one of the best espressos I’ve ever had in my entire life. It was so nice to enjoy this liquid gold when Chelsea Market was almost empty and not crazy hectic busy like it is on the weekends. I even had a bench to sit on! The menu only has three items — brewed coffee(house/iced), espresso and espresso with milk. It’s very simple but that is all they need. I decided to order the espresso with milk and the barista did some amazing foam art on the top. Every sip tasted better and better. I was actually quite sad when I was done drinking it and was really contemplating on buying another one. It’s rare to go to a coffee shop and get a coffee without adding extra milk, creamer, sugar in it. Everything here is made so beautifully you don’t need anything extra. The aroma and richness of the coffee is just perfect! FYI — this place is cash only.

We were in the Meatpacking district looking for a good coffee and we found this place in the Chelsea Markets. Yep very good… we had a capaccuino with extra shots and a macchiato. Both coffees right up there and we had a nice bench to stand at.

The thing I love about New York is that it doesn’t have to market how good its coffee is – it just is. And they won’t waste your time, nor do they expect you to waste theirs. I love it.

Ninth Street Espresso serves rich, delicious coffee anyway they prepare it. I most enjoy their iced coffee. FYI — they are cash only and do not have sleeves.(why don’t you have sleeves? Can we do something about that?)

Nice creamy cappuccino. Largest size is 12 oz, which makes my hungover caffeine-craving body very very sad. Cash only, and no debit. Service is quick, neither friendly nor unfriendly. No seating in the immediate area — this is just a counter coffee joint. Honestly there is nothing extraordinary about this spot. But it’s a good standard coffee at standard prices delivered quickly upon order.

Maybe the weather was affecting me, but on my first day at work in the Meatpacking neighborhood, it was starting to snow like the dickens, and then I found this little counter inside Chelsea Market. I ordered an espresso with milk, and holy balls batman. That coffee. Was deeeeeelicious. I’m also a sucker for latte art, and the barista made me a nice little flower. The coffee is served SCALDINGHOT, so be prepared for that. I literally put my glove on in order to hold my cup. I’ve also had a plain black coffee from here, and it’s the same deal – served piping hot, and very, very strong. I recommend getting the coffee with milk. Overall: not too badly priced, located conveniently INSIDE Chelsea Market(don’t be a sucker and wander all over looking for this place out on Ninth Ave). There isn’t any place to sit down by the counter, but there’s plenty of nooks inside Chelsea Market to sit and enjoy. Thank god this place is close to where I work because I will definitely be back here on chilly winter days.

The coffee here is terrific! I am borderline obsessed! The espresso with steamed milk is perfect. It doesn’t need any sugar. It is delicious as it is. The service is friendly and they have a nice assortment of milks and sugars(if you want them).

I love great coffee and this coffee bar cured my itch while I was in New York. Located across the street from my hotel in Chelsea Market. The market itself is amazing with so many food choices. Having a great coffee bar in this market is a great addition. However, cash only. Can’t you just hook your iPad to accept credit cards? The espresso was pulled perfectly to me because I loved the aroma, sweetness, and that richness of «coffee taste», and a little chocolatey. There was no bitter/burnt taste to it. Mixed that in with the soy that they had was perfect. Different soy milk can alter the flavor of the latte but this one was perfect. It was so good I got one everyday because it was across the street.

Though my check-ins lately have been mostly Caribou or Starbucks — that was strictly for convenience only. It didn’t reflect on what I think is a great coffee. I drink milk chocolate mocha at Caribou. It’s a little pick me up five minutes from home. However, if I really want to indulge in fantastic coffee, I would go out of my way to try something special like Ninth Street Espresso. I heard a lot of accolades on Ninth Street Espresso and it was one of the reasons we ventured to Chelsea Market. When we got to Chelsea Market, it was a perfect time for an afternoon pick me up in the form of fine coffee. They only had three things on the menu, simple but super awesome: espresso, coffee, and espresso with milk. I opted for espresso with milk or also known as cappuccino everywhere else. Let me tell you… that little cup of espresso with milk was such a proper cup of cappuccino. It started with a nicely done artistic foam on top, and once you took a sip, you got this robust high charged aromatic coffee that’s not scalding hot but was craftily even tempered. It was so beautifully made I can’t tell you how much I appreciated drinking it. It tasted great to the last drop. I almost wanted a second cup. There was no need for sugar. There’s no sour tone to it. It was perfect the way it was. My friend got an espresso and perked up as soon as he took a sip and said wow! Then, he soon reached in to his pocket to get cash for a second shot. Yes, it’s cash only. He had no cash so I handed him a twenty. He bought his second cup and he kept the change unconsciously and I didn’t ask for it back. So his second cup of espresso costed me $ 20. Hehehe. Nevertheless, it was great to have an opportunity to try and prove that their coffee deserved all the praises. It’s a fine cup of caffeinated brew that I could honestly say was a rare treat. It really didn’t need the caramel, chocolate, whipped cream, or syrup. It really can stand on its own. If only I could have it every morning… Yes, I’d say that was one of the best cups I had in awhile. Thank God for great coffee!
