West Side Gentle Dental

Our visit with Dr. Mohl couldn’t have been better. I was a bit hesitant to schedule an appointment for my 4 year old who has anxiety and hypersensitivity issues. She’s only ever been to pediatric dentists, but there weren’t any that took our insurance within walking distance in our area. But she was perfectly behaved for Dr. Mohl and his chairside assistant. They were very gentle and patient with her. There was no wait time, the receptionist was friendly and welcoming, and the appointment went quickly. Plus they were perfectly chill about my one year old toddling around and being noisy, and even gave her an extra toothbrush. I really liked the small, intimate environment.

There’s a reason why out of 32 Unilocal reviews only four are remotely negative. Dr. Mohl is a great dentist and his staff are professional and personable.
Compared to the prices I’m used to, this place is a steal.

Went here on a online deal (Living social, most likely) and the cleaning was fine.
This is a general strike on dental practices, they (the ones I have been to) are all trying to make you insecure about your teeth. The last 3 dentists (including this one) offered me Invisilign and teeth whitening. The thing about the Invisilign is that you have to use it for the rest of your life (that’s what has been explained to me), otherwise your teeth will shift back, great, lol. And my teeth aren’t white enough.
Ok now for the office, lol, the hygienist who helped me was nice and answered any questions I had. She flossed my teeth and we talked about flossing and now I floss every other day thanks to her advice. (I never flossed before, in any frequency). She told me that you don’t need to floss everyday since your teeth wont accumulate particles everyday, cool sold me, and she told me my teeth are tight and it may be a reason it would be difficult for me to floss. You see she sold me on it and gave me sympathy, smart very smart, now I floss. Point is she helped me be healthier — thank you!
As for the Doctor, well he cleaned my teeth, it was fine but I didn’t care for his energy and he hardly made eye contact with me and didn’t shake my hand when I offered it.
Then he went into the Invisilign and whitening. Not horrible (he did his job but I like fries with my shake) but I won’t be returning.

ATTENTION! This dentist tries to make fast money with new and unexperienced patients. We are new in the country and our son needed a professional cleaning before his brace could be fixed. The cleaning was done in Dr. Mohl’s practice but he did not inform us about the cost of this treatment («professional cleaning is fully covered by insurance»). Getting the statement from our insurance company we noticed that Dr. Mohl submitted $ 1,415.00 (!!!) for this one cleaning including sealing of 8 teeth ($ 100.00 per tooth). On a personal complaint that he should have told us how expensive the treatment was, to give us a chance to decide what to do and what not to do he just replied that he does understand us but that it was not his problem and that the work has been done. We should have asked for the price … In the end he confirmed that he wanted to wait how much the insurance will pay him and then he would think about what to do and contact us. He got paid $ 1,050,00 by the insurance and — of course — never contacted us again !!! With this cleaning Dr. Mohl spent more than ²⁄₃ of the insurance money which is available per person in one year.

Dr. Mohl is a delightful, warm and caring dentist. I liked him from the moment I met him, and appreciated his calm nature.
However, this did not obscure the fact that I waited one full hour after I had completed my forms – as a brand new patient – to see him. A full hour behind schedule is, in my opinion, not good business practice.
Dr. Mohl does his own cleanings. This is on one hand truly lovely, and I appreciate it, but on the other hand was not nearly as through as I am accustomed to.
I will go back to him because he did my x-​rays, because he’s a lovely guy and the office is convenient, but I do have some misgivings.
