The one star is for service, because I walked out before having the opportunity to order…1. Instead of handing me my menu, the hostess placed it on the bar in my vicinity — I had to ask her if the menu was for me. 2. I sat at the bar for 10 minutes and no one came to greet me, not even to give me a water; therefore I left the establishment and went across the street to Bill’s Bar & Burger, which was packed and the staff was inviting and attentive.

Not great. Staff was nice but slow and disorganized Tacos were dry and flavorless They’re not maintaining the restrooms properly. Smells like someone pissed on the wall If they don’t pick it up several notches, I give them six months.

$ 5 per Ice Tea with no free refills? Really? So I order one… never asked if I’d like a refill or not. Waiter came by so I asked if I could have another iced tea and I don’t need a new glass. New one comes, ok. $ 10 for 2 Iced Teas, more ice than tea, etc. You know the drill. Is this place kidding me? I live in NY and eat out a lot and I am still amazed that this«Bar & Grill» wants to charge $ 5 for iced tea with no refills. They probably measure their pours when you order an alcoholic drink too… No Thank You, Weak! Even think they screwed up our order of «Steak Frites» since it came as a sandwich on a bun with some onions and creamy sauce instead of steak and fries and now I see all it says Skirt Steak on the bill, I think they did. But not 100% sure but it’s the first steak frites I’ve seen as a sandwich. Anyway, def not going back and I’ve been here for lunch before too, but that’s over.

1 star is generous for this place, no idea what has changed since people left 5 star reviews in the past. My wife and I just had a great weekend at the W hotel financial district and on the ground floor is this bar and restaurant which the W lists as an amenity to their hotel. With that I assumed it would be pricey due to its location but I also expected a much better experience. As for convenience it’s perfect as its in the hotel so yesterday after about 10 miles of walking around NYC we figured a quick snack would be in order as we had a few hours before dinner. We ordered a flat bread pizza which ultimately tasted good but was delivered to the wrong person on the other side of the bar who proceeded to eat it before our server realized what was happening. My wife ordered black coffee and it came with milk in it, like a latte. Fine whatever. We got over it and enjoyed our snack. Today after checking out we went in there for brunch. I had an omelette($ 16) and my wife had a waffle($ 15) and a side of bacon($ 7). I get the check with no itemization so I ask as I’m curious how it became $ 51 and I ends up the coffees were $ 5 each and not included in this already high price for food. The servers brings us coffee that’s cold, never filled our water glasses and I had to ask for milk for the coffee as she didn’t automatically bring it. Ten minutes go by and she comes back and says we have no milk. Honestly? She then offers cream or low fat. That’s fine. How about saying that to begin with. Anyway what a waste of money. This is not about me being cheap. We are great meals at restaurants all over the city for four nights and price never came into play but I do have an expectation for a certain level of service and quality commensurate with pride. Mediocre overpriced food with awful service and the W hotel a 4.5 to 5 star hotel chain should NOT associate themselves with this awful rip off of a place.

Just a quick shout-out to Washington Bar and Grill… Thank you for being the only bar in the vicinity, able and willing to change one TV from football(not even a NY team playing) to the Mets game. Also killer cocktails and great service! Well played!

Just came for drink and appetizer. Décor is really appealing-dark wood with many modern touches. Conveniently located beside W Hotel lobby. Accessible from hotel entrance or sidewalk. Service was excellent-the waiter wrote down the drink recipe and made sure it was a delish alternative. Great corner views(read: people watching), nice selections on menu and the broccoli rabe was garlicky perfection. Would def come again. PROs: service, menu selections, décor. CONs: none to report.
