We went here for a delicious brunch! Drinks were fun and unique. The Croque Madame, Nutella Pain Perdue, and Bacon Quesadilla were delicious and definitely worth doing again. Not a particularly popping place at brunch time but cozy and intimate. Only bad thing were the biscuits, kind of dry.

We had a great meal at wallflower – usually we don’t come back twice to a place in the city since there are so many places to go, but this would be one. We didn’t order the tasting menu as we felt like ordering multiple apps/entrees was a better deal. Every dish we ordered we enjoyed. It’s a small cozy restaurant, doesn’t wow me on the décor, but the service was excellent.

I am so happy my boyfriend convinced me to get one more cocktail before we ended the night. We came across Wallflower after having dinner in the West Village and I had one of the best cocktails I have ever had, The Shush. It was the perfect mixture of sweet and spicy and I am still thinking about this drink almost a day later. The bartender was friendly and definitely well versed in mixology and I cannot wait to head back there!

Had a very nice dinner here and below is my opinion of the following dishes(in order of preference): Hamachi Crudo: appetizer; this was my favorite of the night. The hamachi paired with the sweet grapefruit and crunchy almond slices was perfect Trout: entrée; cooked and seasoned perfectly with dollops of a green sauce was great but unsure of flavor. Over a bed of roasted potatoes, olives and peppers. Tuna Tartare: appetizer; can’t go wrong with this Fingerling Potatoes: side dish delicious when dipped in that saffron aioli Jerk Spiced Quail: to my pleasure this was not very spicy. The amount of quail though was minimum. Served ontop of crispy romaine with a Cesar style dressing. It was good but it was my least favorite. Was surprised at the variety of craft cocktails, didn’t try any but would like to come back and do so. Small place so expect a wait or definitely make reservations.

Small, cozy, a bit demure place; but they have serious drinks and food that are not demure. I like the small bar because the tables in dining area are very tiny that sitting there makes me feel it’s even smaller. This time around, my friend and I had two different cocktails each, and they were all good but a bit too light on alcohol. We shared a salad with duck egg — yum. And risotto for main — not amazing but yum. Very friendly staff.

Everything is just delicious. I literally can’t think of one complaint for the place. The space itself is so cute! Love the décor too. Although it’s tiny it never feels cramped. Such a lovely atmosphere. Cocktails are some of the best in Manhattan. Staff are always so courteous and professional. I’ve been for both dinner and brunch and loved both. So glad to live close-by! You really should go. You won’t be disappointed.

I dreamt about the tuna tartare last night, thus inspiring this review. In short, Wallflower is a neat little place with wonderful ambience, wine menu, service, and food –the perfect spot to bring a date.

Didn’t blow me away, but this was a lovely spot for a date. The service was really great — all the waiters were fantastic, lovely, and so nice. The actual restaurant is very cozy and cute and felt really homey. The main thing was that the food, though great, wasn’t particularly unique or amazing. It was tasty but I didn’t feel like it was all that innovative. We had a very standard risotto with shrimp and a chicken beast with veggies. Overall, I would come to Wallflower for a chill, cozy date night, but not necessarily to take your taste buds on a wild culinary ride.

We’ve been here twice. First was just for drinks, and their teta-a-teta was AMAZING. So we decided to come back and give their dinner a try. Services was great, interior has industrial chic feel to it. We got foie gras spead and tuna tartare to start, and risotto and trout as entrées. Maybe my expectation was too high, but everything was bland, not as wow & amazing as the cocktails. Both foie gras spead and tuna tartare were very average, I’ve had way better items somewhere else. My risotto was overcooked, my husband’s trout, relatively speaking, was the best thing of the night, but on an absolutely scale, it was still just average. It was disappointing because I really wanted to love this place. I guess I will just be back for drinks.

I made a Sunday brunch reservation at Wallflower, and I was not disappointed. Space — Super narrow, so it’d be good to cap your group at six people. Roasted Half Lobster — Lobster and cherry tomatoes on a bed of creamy grits. Sounds plain and boring, but it’s one of the best bowl of grits I’ve ever had. Bloody Mary — My friends wanted to do a boozy brunch, so I asked the waiter for a drink recommendation. I was feeling bold and tried a Bloody Mary. Definitely not my cup of tea. Great for a Sunday brunch, but it would be wise to make reservations.

Being a fan of The Eddy, I was happy to try this sister restaurant. Similarly, the space is small and cozy with very friendly waitstaff.(I also love the coat hooks all around the walls!) The food was good, although in hindsight, I wish I did not order the short rib as this was somewhat of an ordinary dish. Thought the same for the Hamachi, but I did like how they prepared their grilled octopus with fingerling potatoes. What really stood out was the drink I had – the Green Lantern. This is hands down the best dinner cocktail I’ve ever had. I love yuzu, and how he made it work with green chartreuse, lime, tarragon, and linie aquavit is magic. I would go back just to have this drink.

6-stars! This is one of the best NYC dinners I have had in awhile. From the service to the food to the wine to the cocktails to the ambiance. Just quality dinning experience going on here. We used opentable to make a reservation for an earlyish Friday dinner(Im olds). When it became clear that we were going to be a tad late we called and they were so accommodating I was immediately impressed and thankful. The menu is simple in that it is one side of one page. Its complicated in that, you will want every single thing on the menu. From what we ordered, the foi gras mousse, the tartar, the lobster salad, each amazing. Take a take, cozy up next to some other cute NYC foodies and enjoy the ride. Fantastic place.

INSHORT: A sister restaurant to The Eddy, the equally charming nook of a restaurant in the East Village, Wallflower is a modest, unassuming space whose friendly staff and attention to a depth of detail make it a remarkable restaurant for New York insiders. THESTORY: True to its name, Wallflower is a tiny, intimate space that seems to cling to invisibility along a dark stretch of the West Village just off Greenwich Avenue. Easy to walk by without noticing much more than a mysterious, warm glow coming from a small set of windows, entering Wallflower feels like a clandestine act by those looking for something a little less superficial. And of course, the rendezvous that awaits inside does not disappoint. Under the new executive chef, Derrick Paez, the food is notably stronger than in the restaurant’s earliest days, serving more substantial plates whose creativity is on par with the cocktail program. A 4-course, $ 65 tasting menu presents thoughtful, Gallic-inspired bites that emphasize the lighter, more elegant dimensions of rich flavors, showcasing the unique culinary sensibility coming out of this tiny kitchen behind the bar. In particular, the tuna tartare with truffle vinaigrette and scallions is smoother and more buttery than previously thought possible, hitting the palette almost like a savory custard. The lentil salad with nduja sausauge, sunchokes, and cilantro too has a surprising clarity even among its many earthy flavors, making for an unpretentious bite with incredible depth. The secondary courses in the tasting menu are served family style for the table next to a heaping mound of toasted rounds of baguette. The chèvre is surprisingly light and fluffy, having been beaten with honey and a lavender-basil cream that adds a subtle, herbaceous sweetness to the spread. It can unfortunately overshadow the jar of chicken liver mousse beside it, whose lack of salt restricts the spread to the sort of one-dimensionality of butter, and this wallflower should be nothing close to shallow or peripheral. Nonetheless, it is all meant to be spread liberally on the toasts, a much needed dose of free-wheeling flexibility in an otherwise restrained menu. The mains can vary radically in size and portion, with the duck served in just two small slices over too much jus for the plate, and with the bacon-wrapped pork loin large enough to satisfy two hungry diners. If only this were the converse, for while the pork has the sensation of a rich piece of dark meat taken from Thanksgiving dinner leftovers, the duck is light and sweet, with crispy roasted greens adding the perfect balance to the thick, dark jus and the creamy cauliflower purée beneath the meat. Of course, all of this food is guided by a menu of adventurous cocktails so very appropriate for this miniature shadow of a space. Created by a former bartender at Daniel, there is an element of rebellion in these high-end concoctions, with aquavit shaken with vodka, lemon, salt and black pepper in one called the Stockholm Syndrome. Indeed, capturing a unique, New York energy with its atmosphere of half-secrecy, half-opulence, Wallflower has a lot of perks, and with its commitment to serious cuisine with a depth of both French and New American flavors, any awkwardness can easily be forgiven. This is, after all, what the wallflowers in New York are all about.

Wallflower! You shy, deliciously sexy, little minx. Tempting me from that dark corner of the Village. Tantalizing my taste buds with that aromatic scallop smell, wafting from the kitchen. Now, this has been on my list to try for quite some time and as part of my birthday celebration, one of my best friends took me to dinner here last night. Thank you, Matthew! The wallflower is so perfectly named because you could honestly walk right past the place… it’s located«in the cut», if you will. There is a small bar, with a true mixologist and not a bartender. I drink pretty rarely(about once every month or two) because at 26.9 years old, I just don’t have the stamina. But I tried a couple cocktails here – Green Lantern and the Cornelia(pic included) and was 1) drunk very quickly, and 2) thoroughly pleased with presentation and creativity of the drinks. Food here speaks for itself and hats off to the chef. I will note that the dessert here was definitely not one of my favorites, but everything leading up to the finale was incredible and therefore an overall five star experience-despite the fact that our waiter spilled some water on my pants. I will also say that I’ve paid these prices for slightly larger portions and I think in that area they should try to do a little better. They were mostly small plates(some medium) but none were large. Tasting menu is affordably priced at around $ 68 and cocktails off their drink menu will range at about $ 13 – 16, which is definitely standard in this city. 1. Tuna Tartare – I’m in heaven! This was off the chain, lick the plate, smack somebody delicious. Truffle vinaigrette, scallion and radishes came together to make a really elegant burst of flavors in my mouth. 2. Chevre– served in a shallow, green pool of fragrant basil oil, with sliced baguette(and some radishes – keep ‘em coming). This goat cheese was some of the best I’ve ever had and the basil combination was to die for. I kept shoveling this creation into my mouth and we ran out of bread, but no need to fret. Our waitress came over and brought some more bread for our spread! 3. Warm lentil salad – served with a little Italian sausage slice. Very herbaceous and hearty. This was another appetizer, so each of the dishes #1−4 were even smaller portions than our entrees. I’m teasing… OK, I’m not teasing. I think the portions should be like 15% larger than what they are. I digress. 4. Wax bean salad – this was tasty enough. I can’t recall what was dressed or topped with, but we ate it all. 5. Seared Scallops – Show Stopper! Game Changer! Four perfectly cooked mollusks on a bed of pomme purée, served with spinach. This was definitely the most amazing thing we had. It wasn’t part of the tasting menu, so we added it to our already large order… but then were thrilled to have some extra noms on the table. Don’t mean to hate, hate, hate on the portions, but damn, guys… I was expecting something more substantial on these very pricey plates. However, the execution here was phenomenal and I’d drag my butt back here just for the scallops. 6. Chicken Ballotine – also wonderful. Chicken thigh stuffed with chicken liver mousse, chanterelle purée and served with a black garlic jus. I believe it was braised and then pan-roasted. It was full of flavor and I ate the whole thing(duh). 7. Striped Sea Bass – served with something I can’t remember(it was not my entrée) and I took only one bite. I remember it being a great bite, but it was surrounded by a lot of other wonderful things. 8. Chocolate ganache tarts – served with raspberries. meh, I was whatever on these. Ganache was definitely amazing, but the whole thing together didn’t do it for me. Neither of us finished these desserts, which never happens. Overall, wonderful service and $ 301 later, I can say we were 98% satisfied. Great intimate space, so be sure to make a reservation and plant yourself at one of their few tables.

Took a friend here for his birthday on a Wednesday night. We were one of the first to arrive around 6:30PM but it got packed when we left around 8:30PM or 9PM so I would recommend a reservation especially if you plan on eating at a later time! Since my friend had a few dietary restrictions, I talked to the host and executive chef prior to our meal. The host remembered talking to me on the phone and the chef, Sahara, hand-typed the menu(the one online was not updated) along with notes of what we could eat to e-mail to me! There were no desserts we could eat so Sahara kindly offered to pick up some fruit on her way. This shows how much Wallflower cares about each individual’s experience! We tried: Appetizers: ** Oyster of the Day(half-dozen) ** Tuna Tartar ** Charred Greens, Ramps, Haricot Verts, Kalamata, Tonnato Main Course: ** Halibut with ratatouille ** Mongolian Glazed Pork Belly — this dish was delicious and I would recommend to pork belly lovers Dessert: ** Lemon sorbet, fresh fruit with strawberry sauce Drinks: ** Shush(pineapple and chipotle infused vodka, strawberry syrup, lime juice, angostura bitters) ** Scarlet Letter(Aperol, Luxardo Maraschino Cherry, Blood Orange Cordial, Sparkling Wine) ** Negroni Carbonato(Campari, Byrrh Grand Quinquina Apéritif, Cynar, Verjus, Lemon Sorbey, Sparkling Wine) ** Lady Grey(Earl Grey infused Citadelle Gin, Pear Williams Purkart, Bergamot Juice & a Dash of Pernod Absinthe) This bar is one of those bars with ingredients that sound interesting despite the fact that you don’t know what they are. The first 2 drinks are fruitier and the next 2 are more bitter/strong. All fun drinks though! I read online that the portions were small so we ordered a bunch of appetizers. unfortunately, by the time my Pork Belly arrived, I could only have one bite so I saved the rest for lunch another day. The restaurant is small and quaint with a bar in the first room and tables in the larger room. Service was great. Overall, a great birthday dinner at a cute venue with tasty food. 5 stars for taking the extra effort to make our dinner special!

Wallflower is a teeny tiny place with a teeny tiny menu. I was considering giving it 4 stars because they were out of the tuna tartare(how do you run out of something so simple with so few alternatives?!?), but this place was so good that I’m still giving it 5. THAT’S how spectacular my experience was. Came here with my dad last night for dinner and drinks after reading nothing but rave reviews online. First up: drinks. I arrived 15 minutes before my dad, so I figured I’d start off with a cocktail. This cocktail menu had me at a loss for words. I’m serious though: most of the descriptions were complete gibberish to me. I had been eyeing the Pere Pirnard but was wary of it given that I’m not a fan of scotch. I mentioned this concern to the bartender — he replied that not only was this his favorite whiskey cocktail on the menu, but that I wouldn’t be able to taste the scotch. If for some reason I didn’t like it, I had the option of sending it back. And WOW. Jaw-droppingly good. Over the course of the night, I ordered: –Pere Pirnard: Pig’s Nose Scotch Whiskey, Pear Williams Purkart, St. Elizabeth Allspice Dram, Lemon and Pinor Noir Syrup(A+) –Sea Sex and Sun: Plantation Original Dark and Over Proof Rum, Batavia Arrack Van Oosten(see what I mean??), Nux Alpina Wlanut Liquer, Alopmmd Syrup, Lime, Pineapple Juice(A– … this is saying a lot, because I typically dislike rum) –Lady Grey: Earl Grey-Infused Citadelle Gin, Pear Williams Purkart, Berganot Juice and a dash of Pernod Absinthe(A) Before I move onto the food, I need to give a huge shoutout to the service here. They go above and beyond here. First off: water-refill game was on point. I was chugging water the entire time(strong cocktails + work the next day = disaster unless insane hydration follows) and my glass was STILL almost always full. At one point, being the clumsy and occasionally tipsy person that I am, I hit my spoon off the table by mistake. I swear, they must have watched this happen in slo-mo /have seer-like capabilities because instantaneously, I had all new silverware and a new napkin. Didn’t even have time to blink. And more generally, the staff was just wonderfully pleasant and courteous. Hung our coats up, carefully pulled out our table for us, etc. etc. This is what pushed my initial four-star thought to five stars. Now onto the food. I already mentioned that much to our dismay, they were out of the tuna. What we ordered: –Snapper Crudo, Apple, Seaweed(A) –Beet, Chicory, Chevre, Croutons, Walnuts(A — this is coming from two people who typically don’t go out of their way to order beets) –Brebis, Eggplant, Chorizo, Almond Oil(Brebis has a Swiss-like texture, if you were wondering)(A++) –Chevre, Watermelon Radish, Basil(A-). Our waiter insisted that we start with the Crudo, which was a good suggestion. Nice light and tasty way to start the meal. The beets, as I mentioned, were delicious despite being served to a pair of ambivalent diners. Usually my dad and I just tolerate beets because of my mom’s love for them, but cleaning the plate this time was completely voluntary. Star of the night for me was the Brebis. Gorgeous preparation(see picture) and incredibly satisfying flavor profile. Complex and robust. Mmmmmmhmmmm. I’m hungry again.

Wow what a cute little spot in the west village. I came here on a first date and was immediately impressed by the intimate and cozy atmosphere. We were seated immediately upon arrival at a great corner table. Apparently this place is known for its delicious mixed drinks so I decided to forgo my usual wine choice and get a gimlet like drink. I can’t remember the name but our waiter was very knowledgable with the menu. My drink was delicious! I exactly what I wanted. We started out with some delicious east coast and west coast oysters. Of course I requested my personal favorite the Kumamoto. They were perfectly briny and delicious. Then ordered the fresh chèvre goat cheese appetizer with radishes and basil oil. It came with some fresh crusty bread, which always makes me happy. Mmmmmmmm so delicious! Finally we had the Black Sea bass crudo with green apple. Sooooooo delicious. The fish just melted in your mouth. Great spot I was so impressed. I’ll definitely be back for dinner and will update my review then!
