While my night here did not end in the best of times, my experience here was seriously what all bars should strive for. I came here for a friend’s birthday party a while ago, and he had gotten the back space early. All of the staff were super nice, friendly, and not grumpy at ALL like some staff when you go into a bar early. They checked on us frequently, cleared the empty glasses, and did not bat an eye at any of our shenanigans. The cocktails were about the price you’d expect, but they were so well mixed and so damn STRONG. I appreciate getting your money’s worth, even if some people don’t taste the alcohol and stupidly end up ordering that one-too-many that leaves you desperately trying to throw up in the bathroom. Not that I did that. Not at all. Just saying, though, if you do ever find yourself in that situation, you’ll have incredibly sweet staff who bring you water with bitters and somehow find some naan for you to keep in your stomach. I was so embarrassed and miserable at the end of the night, but my concern was not dashing off without paying my tab, and I was ashamed to see they hadn’t added on anything at all — I totally would have paid a ‘shame’ tax. So instead, I tipped them for everything they’d done and took my sick self home.

The girls and I loved this place — we went 2 nights in a row. Too bad they’re closing in a few days :[ Henry was the best bartender ever and everyone there was def a good time. Great way to close out the vacation :]

I love Vig! I came here for my birthday last night and as usual I had a great time. Everyone is so friendly and fun. The staff is on the ball — there are never empty glasses on the tables or bar waiting to be picked up, and no one is ever without a drink. The djs are awesome too.

Had a good time here on fri night. The drinks were great. Being a gay bar, there obviously was never a dull moment. They were surprisingly straight friendly and the bartenders were nice. Cool spot. Specials all night $ 4 vig draft $ 5-$ 7 margarita & blueberry lemonade

Good space, cute crowd, and friendly bartenders. And nice lounge-y seating, if you can get it. I was there on a Saturday night and it was only about half-full, though. Which I liked, but if you’re looking for trendy see-and-be-seen, it wasn’t it. I’d definitely go back. Would be good for drinks with someone you actually want to have a conversation with, a group of friends, or an informal party…

Vig 27 is what every«too cool for school» queer and said queer’s friends would ever want in a drinking establishment. Lots of space, lush couches, dim lights, weekly drink specials, hot bartenders, really nice servers, thousands of beads(possibly anal?) falling from the walls behind pink lights, and bangin’ cocktails. I was there Tuesday night to see Pepper Mint’s weekly Showgurl drag show and it was pretty fierce. Homegirl did start 45 minutes late(stereotypically diva) but she worked it out once she got on the stage. Leading off sing-a-longs to the Fugees and Salt-N-Pepa? You just can’t lose! The place oozes comfort and a ‘come as you are’ vibe instead of the pretension of so many other gay and gay friendly lounges. Gay boys visiting from Oklahoma, lesbians from Connecticut, bisexuals from the Upper East Side, and the straight girls who love them can all have a fabulous time here. The only not so great thing is the food. It’s not totally horrid but it is nowhere near to die for. I’d recommend eating dinner somewhere before you imbibe at Vig. All around, it’s a new favorite spot! Yay for Vig!!!

This place is spacious — definitely a change of pace from all the smaller bars in Chelsea and Hell’s Kitchen. Tastefully decorated, there’s options of benches and bar stools. Music on a Friday happy hour was pop spanning the ages and wasn’t overbearing. Bartenders were attentive and friendly. I spent the night having Straw-gasms — incredibly delicious. I would recommend happy hour since the prices are a bit high. Extra points for being near the 6 train.

Woaaahh what’s with the haterade y’all drank at the bar? This is one of my new faovrite places in NY, loves it! The bartenders are great, especially Jaime and Malik, and they make some amazing cocktails(the Strawgasm is amazing). If you don’t want to spend quite so much($ 12 a drink adds up fast), it’s happy hour all night long! $ 5 drinks and $ 7 absolut cocktails/martinis? Don’t mind if I do. Plus, their food is great too. Over Passover, I did sliders sans buns, but now I am back in carbo-action and ready to take on the duck panini and everything else that I love on that menu. Yes, it gets crowded, but that’s what happens when a place is good. Grab a seat at the bar or on one of the couches and chill and enjoy. Good people watching(and maybe more) for the boys, not so useful for the gals.

Came here to use a gift certificate, which I got through a roundabout process. It was initially for Copper Chimney but when I tried to use it there, they informed me they no longer accepted it. So I went back to and perused the other restaurants in the neighborhood. My friends told me they had a good time at Vig 27 so I chose there. Then 1 month later, I discover it became a gay bar but figured, what the heck? And brought one of my female friends to grab dinner with me. The place has a nice loungey atmosphere. There is a large main room with seating along the wall and a bar along the other wall. Since there was no available seating there, we were put in the back room which was completely empty. We assumed they’d start placing other people back there but we ended up being the only ones there the entire 2 hours we were there. Felt kind of strange to be completely separate from the rest of the patrons but also felt like we had our own private dining area. We decided to partake in the happy hour(all night on Thursdays) and ordered a mojito and pomegranate martini for $ 6 each. Both were STRONG yet delicious. I later ordered a passion fruit martini which was delicious as well, although it was a little thick on the nectar. We split the cheeseburger sliders(average), the hummus(average) and the pulled pork sliders(very tasty). Service was good, as even though we were hidden in the back, we were checked up on frequently. The bathrooms are located downstairs via a staircase all the way in the front. There was a DJ spinning some music — mostly remixes of pop songs. The crowd was pretty mixed — it felt like a regular restaurant/lounge, which was nice. And now that I know about the awesome happy hour with the tasty cocktails, I might just be back!

Amazing Bar! The best service I have had in such a long time and the attitude of the people in the bar was great and not rude.

Go early to get a seat… Good drinks, excellent bar food. Great place for light dinner and drinks in a lounge-y setting. Good service, the waitstaff is alway on top of their tables, it’s the perfect after work lounge to grab a stiff one.

Are there really gays in Curry Hill? Vig 27 is a totally forgettable bar. $ 5 Pearl vodka on the rocks made it a bit more bearable. I don’t foresee this place surviving very long as a gay bar. They totally have fake skinnygirl margaritas though.

I actually had a great time here! The staff is awesome, and the atmosphere/décor is pretty cool. Go early if you want a seat; this place gets packed QUICK. Awesome bar food-not the typical greasy, feeling like you’re clogging your arteries food, either.

I’ve recently been invited to a string of parties here, and every time I get an invite I’m perplexed as to why a person would voluntarily choose to come here. In case you can’t tell, I kind of hate this place. Harsh, I know. But I have reasons: 1. It’s not that big, which means it gets crowded fast. Which also means that it’s hard to get drinks(which you desperately need if you’re hanging out here). It also means that at any point in time you will be in the middle of a big group of people who are trying to dance, order drinks, or just hang out — not fun. 2. It has kind of a douchey crowd.(Not atypical of Murray Hill, but still). 3. You often have to wait in line to get in. I hate waiting in lines, especially when I am doing so to get into places that I don’t even like. So, there you go. If you get a birthday party invite for something at Vig 27. Ignore or make up an excuse. Totally not worth it to go.

Cool after-work hot spot in Kips Bay/Gramercy area. More fun if you have a seat on one of the banquets that line the wall(as I did). The Lemonade 27 drink($ 12) was pretty tasty.

Pretty good for a lounge. DJ played phenomenal music. Rolled in here with a large Indian crew and of course we run into more Indians. Decent size with plenty of places to sit. I guess you would consider the front to be more of the«club» while the back would be more of the«lounge» area. Although there are a ton of places in NYC, I wouldn’t mind coming back here.

Hey, this wasn’t bad. Lounges are a tricky, oxymoronic business in space-starved Manhattan. Ideally, there’s leg room that can be easily transposed into a dance floor when the beats get hot, like they do at Vig 27. The music was money and the venue was aiiiiight(just your standard railroad-style bar). The downstairs coat check was compulsory but complimentary(applause!). A note about the service, which I found objectionable: While my party was throwing down for bottles of Verve(I think we’d accumulated four), the cocktail waitress was irritable and unfriendly, and even sour-facedly obstructed more bottle service(a flat«We don’t carry that brand.»). The cozy five of us weren’t being rowdy or malicious(just a little tinkered to get the words out properly) at all. Boo buzz-kill waitress. If you liked this.. . You might be a Gstaad( ) enthusiast.

Not a bad venue — but very very crowded. Makes for some interesting conversations when the person you’re talking to is pushed right into you. The music is a mix of 80s to modern, and mixed decently by the DJ. No cover, and no line to get in, parking on the street right outside, and no real sense of pretentiousness. Lots of Cornell/Columbia people here for a night, but then again, that’s true all over the city: P Drinks weren’t expensive, and they don’t seem to mind dancing on the tables — I avoided that, but others did quite well. The back was even more crowded than the front, so I didn’t make it back that far, but seems to carry quite the crowd until around 2a or so. Didn’t see a coat check, but fortunately they don’t seem adverse to us throwing our coats on a couch or table.

While I’ve never tried this trendy place for its food, I’ve certainly been here for the booze during its crowded weekend /happy hours and came away rather unimpressed. Its more narrow than spacious and can be murderous navigating through the people when the crowds get a little more packed. The bathrooms are solid and the downstairs area is possibly the quietest area of the venue. Its likely one will find a make out session down here, or possibly more in the wee night hours. The drink prices were not of Happy Hour caliber, but I am told that its the only time worth visiting. Perhaps, but I think I’ll pass.
