I live about five minutes away from this place and I order whenever I get home from class or work late. The Seamless delivery guy is almost always at my building before I am even. I am a pretty simple sushi eater so I usually just get salmon rolls, tuna rolls, and eel and cucumbers. First of all, the prices are great. $ 4.75 for a salmon roll in New York? Count me in. Even sometimes they throw in free fruit with my order. Second, the seamless delivery is always ahead of time and comes in almost 30 minutes. Third, the quality is great. No complaints at all and they always have my back when I’m too tired to cook. Definitely recommend!

I came here a while ago and I ordered seaweed salad, sashimi toro, spicy tuna, salmon, eel, salmon skin salad. The Seaweed salad was good. The Toro tasted frozen and tough which is not what toro is supposed to taste like. The Spicy tuna was ground up which makes me feel like they’re hiding something. Salmon skin salad was different and good Eel was good. Overall, I didn’t think their fish was fresh, so I doubt I will come back.

I ordered delivery from Abeca. It was he first time ordered from them. I have a pretty bad wheat allergy so amongst other safe options I ordered a spider roll for the first time as something new because it was labeled as soft shell crab, avocado, cucumber and Tobiko. The roll came and it all the crab was battered with crunch(fried panko), no good for me. FYI, all the other fried and battered rolls were labeled this way. I also wrote special instructions«no crunch» to confirm. So I called and told the man who answered the phone the deal. He said, sorry all our crab comes that way and he could not do anything for me. Good customer service should have brought me another roll as the Resturant is one block away from me, or a discount as that was a specialty roll and half of my dinner, which I can’t eat. Bad service lost a potential repeat buyer. Also the rest of the sushi and sashimi was standard.

DONOTORDERFROMHERE. I was a loyal costumer of Abeca/St. Ace and ordered from their establishment at least once a week. Today I received my spicy beef udon noodles and was horrified to find a cockroach had been cooked into the noodles beef and veggies. I called to demand my refund and after telling her that there was a cockroach in my food her response was to ask«Well what was wrong with the order» Revolting health standard are not my cup of tea. You’ve lost a customer.

I strongly recommend you avoid. I ordered here through Seamless for lunch at work today(note, on Seamless it’s called Abeca Sushi. No idea why.) The sushi is subpar — all the ingredients taste cheap and not very fresh. Everything had a weird after taste to it. It’s a cheap sushi place so I’m not expecting anything mind-blowing, but I’ve had much better, more appetizing sushi at other cheap midtown joints. So that’s strike one right there. The worst part, though, is the customer service. The delivery driver kept calling and yelling, so I assumed he was there. I went downstairs to grab the food, but he wasn’t in the normal place that delivery drivers go for my office building. By the time I found him outside, he yelled at me on a public street in another language before riding away. When I called the restaurant, they were unsympathetic and unhelpful. I cannot emphasize enough how poorly I think of this sushi restaurant.

The delivery times they promise on Seamless are not true. Also, the managers are rude and the sushi quality is not that great. I will skip this place in the future. Note: it’s called Abaca Sushi on Seamless.

Four for their crunchy spicy tuna rolls. Even though their delivery always takes 15 – 30 minutes over what it is estimated– I order an hour ahead because their crunchy spicy tuna rolls are worth it

I order from here through Seamless and it’s actually called Abeca sushi– which I found a little weird when trying to find it on Unilocal to leave this review… Other than that the rolls I’ve had have been fantastic. Love the mango salmon roll and the peanut avocado roll. Good ratio of filling to rice– super fresh and satisfying. Definitely a returning customer :)

Not the best experience and would not re-order from this place. I ordered a cheesecake and it was not even close to resembling cheesecake — what came was a loaf of sugar bread. Sushi was decent but not great — will not be back here.

I’ve now been to this location multiple times for lunch, as it’s right next to my office. I can officially say I will not be back. Considering there are a handful of sushi joints within a 5 block radius, all offering the same lunch special, there is no reason to return. If there is one thing, and one thing only I’d like my sushi to be, it’s FRESH. Am I right, or am I right? Now mind you, I did not get sick. but I know fresh sushi when I taste it and this was not it. As previously stated, the lunch special is no better then any other hole in the wall in the area. That coupled with the feeling of being rushed out the door, although there was only one other occupied table, made a less then pleasant experience. While the miso soup was good and the ginger dressing on the green salad was just as magical as ever, I wouldn’t say they were enough to make up for everything else. Do yourself a favor and head to Maguro or Umi when you’re in the neighborhood!

The food was unexpectedly good(considering it is a non-Japanese owned and made sushi restaurant), which is worth a four-star rating. I gave it a three because of the manager’s annoying attitude. I went there the other night for their advertised happy hour when I can get Ikura Don for just $ 12.99!!! But after I was seated, the manager(behaved like the manager) told me they had changed the menu and no specials for Ikura Don. If I want, «we can do it just for you, but it is the regular price, $ 20″, he responded. But when I asked him where it is on the menu, he suddenly raised his voice and rudely shouted at me:“I told you we’ll do it just for you and it’s $ 20! It’s not on the menu, I said we just do it for you, okay?» What a ridiculous person he is! That was a legitimate question and I don’t understand why he was upset about!!! I ordered uni and white tuna avocado roll. The fish and uni was very fresh without weird taste. The warmness of the sushi rice was just right, which is kinda rare among such kind of «Japanese» restaurants. I decided to try other food and so ordered Pork Katsu, fried pork over rice. It was so so because the pork meat was too firm and a little dry. But the portion was pretty decent. You can actually share with a friend. This place is always empty every time I pass by. The sushi deserves more people to try, but the service need to improve and the first thing would be train your manager how to treat customers.

I ordered here for a friend today and was astounded by the speed of delivery. I literally had time to make a quick phone call and it arrived. I am used to waiting for sushi so long that you think the guys just go out to catch the fish in a boat when they get your order! Excellent quality food too. The only quibble I had was the fruit serving was a little sparse but then that is complementary so I guess I cant complain:)

I’ve been pretty lucky at this spot. Their lunch happy hour is pretty standard and a good option for the area in terms of variety and price. I really dig their special rolls; they are full of flavor and really fresh. I am also kind of spooked by all the different names of this location, but it seems to be doing a good job right now!

I often order take out here and although it can be a little on the expensive side the quality is worth every cent. Comprehensive menu and good portion sizes. I agree with other reviewers about the name though… very confusing when there appears to be so many names for one establishment.

In the relentless search to find good sushi around Kips Bay/Midtown West, why not try all the underrated places within the area, what’s the worst that can happen, after all there many hidden hole in the walls littered across the city? Right? Honestly, I had a really ominous feeling about this place and should have trusted my gut feeling and stuck with the sushi spots that I’m familiar with but you should try everything at least once. Looking at the menu, the lunch specials looked very cheap and appetizing but I decided to veer off the norm and order some other hand rolls to attempt something different for once. I typically don’t like avocado, so I switched it up and order a King crab roll with cucumber and a Sweet Potato roll. My stomach was literally ripping to shreds and I couldn’t wait to get my food. First off, there were three sushi chefs behind the bar and they were also engrossed in filling massive lunch orders. 20 minutes in, no service, no sushi, hungry belly. 10 more minutes elapse and finally our order arrives, with minimal, insincere apologies for the wait. Sushi is here but wait, where is the king crab? Thinly, sliced shredded pieces of crab meat complimented with groves of sliced cucumbers. The sweet potato roll was fairly decent and crunchy(which is why this place only got 2 stars) but this meal was quite unsatisfying. I cleaned my plate but my colleague was still working on his. The server took my meal and slipped the bill on the table and was about to grab the wasabi bowl from my colleague when he was about to dip one of his rolls. WTF!!! He wasn’t even remotely done with his meal and the server was trying to rush us out the door. I really HATE it when servers bring the bill and patrons haven’t finished eating. I think it’s very rude, impolite and unprofessional. I understand that some places take a while to serve up an order but it’s sushi for the love of God. An extensive wait coupled by disgusting customer service. SMH… Ace Sushi aka 27 Street Sushi aka Midori Sushi. Do yourself the favor and walk by this place, don’t even look at it.

in the mood for something a little more exciting, i decided to get away from the lunch specials and get a couple Special Rolls. BIG mistake! I was sucked in by the names of these rolls… and with names like Super Devil Roll. SUPER… DEVIL… ROLL… how could I say no to that??? I couldn’t. «Spicy tuna, avocado, jalapeño and crunch with soy wrap» I was very excited for this roll. Wayy too excited. The Bad:(disclaimer: it was peak lunch time) –It took 28 min to make my two rolls from the time I ordered(thank you Unilocal check in for timing that) –The sushi chef making my roll was young. and completely clueless. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was his first day on the job. –They didn’t refill the water or even check on us during the 30 min wait.(it wasn’t crowded, no excuses) The worse: –The rolls were boring! They came out with no flare and looked«dead» –The rolls were SmALL, they were the size of a regular roll. Not a special roll. –When i pay 24 $ for two rolls. I want two special rolls. I don’t want two pathetic excuses for special rolls and then end up leaving the restaurant starving! they could have at least given me a miso soup or salad. –the fish on top of my rainbow roll was razor thin. soo disappointing! Note to self: always check Unilocal before entering your next meal.

First of all… Why does this business have like 10 names? I only come here for the two roll lunch special which comes with miso soup or a small side salad. For $ 8.50, it’s A-OK… definitely not the best sushi I’ve ever had and definitely not the worst. I also appreciate their long lunch special hours from 11AM-4PM.

I’ll caveat this by saying this is one of «those» reviews, where someone rants about a highly specific situation. That said: Sooo… I used to love this place. Very affordable, huge,(normally) delicious rolls. I frequently ordered delivery from here in the past, as it’s close to my office, and did not have any issues. Today, I ordered a two-roll lunch special with a spicy tuna roll and a salmon and avocado roll. It tasted fine, but an hour later I started feeling sick, and noticed my face and neck were bright red. After some Googling, I learned that these were symptoms of scromboid fish toxicity, caused by tuna that has gone bad. I called the restaurant to let them know they were serving bad fish, and requested a refund on what I’d been served. I was offered replacement sushi rolls(which wasn’t helpful, why would I want more of something that just made me sick?) or a 10% discount on my next order. When I said that didn’t really address my issue, the manager told me I already ate it so it wasn’t refundable. My friend hadn’t eaten her order yet, so they offered to give me the money back for hers if I returned the sushi. Sensing no other option was available, I agreed. The delivery man came with the cash refund, and handed me $ 2. When I said the order cost $ 8.50 and that didn’t make sense, he called the manager on his cell phone, discussed with her, furnished an additional $ 6, and said«ok?» That wasn’t even the full price– and I paid sales tax and left a tip when I initially ordered. SO rude. So, in sum: if you want to be served bad food, get sick and then be treated badly, order your sushi from here!

Whoa! Hey sweet mama, where did you come from? Live around here? Come here often? Sometimes when just walking around the corner you bump into a nice little box that you immediately want to get with. I was not even thinking about getting my lips around a new box today, but I couldn’t wait to dig my teeth into this tasty little box! I did not realize that Ace Sushi was hanging out in my work hood pretty close by, so I decided to make a play for this hot little box. Can’t complain as we all like to hook up with a fresh box right? As with most all sushi restaurants they have lunch specials. Price was not bad for this one, but a little more then some of the other boxes I have eaten during my lunch hour at $ 9.50 for the bento box which also came with a bowl of miso soup. Had the salmon teriyaki over a bed of green beans, carrots, and broccoli. It was nicely prepared, tasted fresh, and had a good amount of teriyaki sauce on it. Salad was standard romaine style and the ginger dressing was ok, but could have used more. California roll was decent, while the white rice and shumai were ok and tasty enough. Overall, there is still a certain excitement when eating a new box. For the lunch deal I received a good platter of food and it was also healthy enough to not mess with my diet. The place itself has a nice décor and an attentive enough staff. Might go back again to hook up with this tasty box if the urge strikes. Hey there, what’s your sign?

Good quality and fast delivery at a reasonable price. I liked the sushi and flexibility with customization.(brown rice and add ons). Clear soup was not clear(soy based) and cloyingly sweet so hence the three stars.
