Better than average pub food is what you get at Resto. Chicken was a bit overcooked. Cod starter tasted like fish mashed potatoes. No standouts here. Service is aggressive. Very noisy.

Overpriced and not that interesting. I understand for NYC most things are overpriced but most places also deliver. The atmosphere was cool and comfortable and the service was on point.

Came here for brunch a couple of weeks ago because the menu seemed really appetizing. Service was really good, atmosphere was good but the food wasn’t really anything special. the hangover pasta was basically a deconstructed carbonara dish and the waffles were way too sweet. I would give it a go for dinner some day maybe.

Oh my goodness. The worst five meals ever! We started with one of the specials — cinnamon buns — if you like frozen pastry, they were for you. Second, we ordered the blueberry muffins — that crumbled when you touched them. They were out of the salmon at 11:00 in the morning. The waffles were so covered with whipped cream that it made them disgustingly sweet and uneatable. My son’s yogurt with seasoned fruit came with one sliced apple. When I mentioned this to the manager, she said they get their fresh fruit from the local farmer’s market. If I can buy berries at the local grocery store, it’s time for them to change suppliers. My husbands burger was the smallest we’ve ever seen and the arugula salad that accompanied both the grilled cheese and my odd tasting egg white omelet tasted off putting. We have eaten in so many restaurants, I wonder how this one can stay in business.

Went for lunch last week and really was going for the 4 different bloody Mary’s. Was upset when they told me they only serve bloody Mary’s for weekend brunch. I had the devil eggs which were so good I had to order a second round. I also had the grilled cheese and french fries(and tried all 9 sauces, the chilli sauce being the best), and the meat balls. All in all the devil eggs were the only thing that was worth going back for everything else was underwhelming. Will be going back for my 4 different bloody Mary’s though.

Need a great spot in the Empire State Building area, look no further than here. Good cocktails, excellent gastro pub food and friendly service all in a setting with a cool vibe.

Went for brunch to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Sausage was under-cooked on the cotechno sausage mcmuffin. It was almost like like biting into a medium-rare burger with an egg on it… strange, plus my home fries were cold when they arrived. The service is comically bad at this place. Highlights included our servers spoiling a birthday surprise we called in advance to arrange, taking 15 minutes to make/bring coffee, spilling water on my friend’s meal, and telling us they forgot items in our order because they«fell out of the back of my brain.» It got to a point where we just had to shrug it off and laugh about it. At least our experience was entertaining.

Beer selection was interesting, albeit small. Food was yummy, if not slightly overhyped. Service was excellent! Hostess saved us a table while we finished drinks next door at Cannibal, and our waiter(Mike) had great attention to detail — he fixed our wobbly table on his own initiative!

Such a cute date spot! It’s great to come w friends and family too. The food is 3.5 because I can find more creative dishes with more memorable flavor. The service and décor are 4 stars each. I went for brunch and ordered the Cotechno Sausage McMuffin which had provolone and egg. It wasn’t bad. but nothing wowed me. It wasn’t heavy like what the McMuffin makes you think of. I would probably order something else next time. I do want to come back for lunch and dinner. It’s really the easy location(for me at least) and great ambiance/service I loved.

We had some high expectations given the buzz about the lamb — but came disappointed to see it’s only available via catering now, not as a main entrée. I got the duck, which was OK, but portions severely under-sized(swallowed it in 5 minutes, and my ‘partner in crime’ went, «WHAT?!») Lamb rib appetizer was solid, deviled eggs good but nothing particularly special. I wish they would put more pure, big-portion meat items on the entrees. Atmosphere is nice and unpretentious.

Popped by, wooden tables and space that’s warm, very European in feel. Frites were the specialty, but we also took in some of the bites along with our mains. The endive salad was ok. The lamb ribs were good though only two pieces in an order(for 3 people, that was an interesting split). The recommended deviled eggs on toast… eh, it’s deviled eggs. I was not overwhelmed(not much of a difference from the ones I can make at home). Mains — the scallops were ok, the mussel pot was great, and the double burger was ok, but the Gruyère and onions overwhelmed the burger flavor a bit much. Thick, square cut frites with various dipping sauces which all tasted somewhat alike; I had the sweet chili, another the mayo and they all looked somewhat alike. Dessert — coffee was massive, and the banana ice cream was too chunky, heavy on a banana liquor flavor, not much in smooth and sweet. Overall, I’ve had better. Beers — lots of selection, but out of 2 of the 6 on tap, so we tried a few of the bottled beers. Ask for your server’s selection. $ 200 for 3 people, though — not a cheap dinner with a couple beers each.

I very much enjoyed my meal here, and loved the earthy décor of the restaurant. I visited for brunch and started with the toro, toro, toro Bloody Mary(made with tequila reposado). It is very tasty and boozy with a strong kick. Highly recommended. I ordered the salmon Benedict with a side of maple whiskey sausage. The poached egg was velvety and the bread was good, but I recommend letting the bread soak up some of the yolk first, as the crust can be difficult to cut. The Benedict was served with a side of greens, radish and fennel in a perfectly tangy vinaigrette. It was a great complement to the heavy, savory Benedict. The sausage was sweet and delicious — exactly what you’d expect from a dish named«maple whiskey sausage.» The service is great, and I look forward to visiting this restaurant again.

We were attempting to go to Cannibal a couple of doors down on a Tuesday night past 9:30pm, when we realized that our group was growing and they couldn’t accommodate, so we stepped into Resto. They were quick about getting us seating for 8. Awesome. Even better, when 2 more people showed, they just added another table. We quickly ordered a round of drinks. They were out of their Draft Cocktails, so I went with a Moscow Mule. It was very good(I think it was the best Mule I had on this trip). Several at the table switched their drinks to mules, too. Food? I just snacked on some small plates: Kale Salad: Good Pork Belly: Very Good Squash & Burrata: Good They were fantastic about keeping the drinks coming. We ended up staying well past closing and they put NO pressure on us to hurry up. NICE! We had a great time and shifted our party to the next bar…

I went to this restaurant on Sunday June 7th. It was rated well on Unilocal and my girlfriend was there before and liked it. It sounded like a good idea. We arrived at 6:00PM and sat at our table. It was right in the front near the entrance. The front windows were open and it was a beautiful day. We were handed a drink menu and we ordered some excellent drinks. So far so good. For dinner We ordered Pickles(good) Almonds(excellent) Small plates Beets(the best item) Grilled octopus(way to salty) Burrata(good but way to salty) Shrimp(excellent) Lamb Rubs(dry no meat on the bone) Main course Muscles and fries(salty) Monkfish(to salty) Lamb no ricotta(good) All the food was presented well. Very appealing to the eyes. I was excited to try the food. However every bit of food with the exception of the almonds and pickles were as though someone dropped a bucket of salt on it. It was awful. It was barely edible. We got the impression throughout the meal that brunch was difficult earlier in the day(it is rather popular). Some of the ingredients were not available(Shiraz wine and raspberries). Our wait staff was pleasant but kept bringing us other people’s orders. I didn’t mind for myself. I felt bad for whomever we got their food. I am open to trying again, but not for a while. I wanted to give a good review but compared to the other options it is hard to do so.

Went there for dinner and had a great experience. The place is a bit loud, and that is about the only thing I did not very liked but apart from this every thing was good. Tried the octopus, tartare, and kale salad, as appetizers and then had the double burger as a main dish. It was delish, really easy to chew on even with two steaks, perfectly cooked, fries a bit large but good. For deserts, I have tried the crème brûlée, the brownie and the ricotta, again every thing was delish. We paired our meal with a Lorie Valley red wine from FR, perfect match. Great time and perfect location to go to while in midtownish area. It s a block from Gansevoort park for late drinks, and couple blocks from the Ace Hotel as well.

In the city, looking for a good bottomless brunch, came across this one and decided to go for it. So glad we did. They create their own sausages and meats, and for $ 20 you can add the«Boozy Brunch» to your meal. As if you had to ask. First off, as an avid mimosa drinker, it was actually really nice that they had other offerings in this boozy brunch. And you betcha, I tried em all! I started with the pomegranate bellini, which was a refreshing and bubbly start to my morning. Usually they are a little too sweet for me, but this one was nice. Moved on to their twist on a mimosa(or I guess they’re going for screwdriver) the«Brewdriver,» which was actually their pilsner with orange juice. A really good option! Then they had their bloody mary which was great. I don’t like them real thick or heavy. This one went down easy and had just enough of a kick to it. Okay, so enough about the drinks. On to the food: We got the deviled eggs starter. Here I am, expecting a few deviled eggs on a plate. Now what the hell was I thinking? It was actually deviled eggs on their house made PORKTOAST. I don’t care what your opinion is on pork, you will love this. Then I got the eggs hebridean. It’s a poached egg served with blood sausage on grilled country bread with hollandaise and onion jam. Basically eggs benedict on steroids. I should look into buying that onion jam because it was so damn good. I would put it on everything. My boyfriend got the special for the day, which was their take on an Egg McMuffin. Bold move Resto, bold move. It was a homemade english muffin, egg, and their own crazy sausage. It was really good. I ofcourse tried it with my onion jam, which made it better. My only suggestion was that the english muffin could’ve been crispier and toasted more. Can’t wait to go back for the HANGOVERPASTA!

If you have the chance to go here for brunch, do it! I had apple cinnamon waffles with ice cream on top! It was so delicious! The space is really cool and different, it’s a little more on the romantic side. The waiters are really friendly.

Anything called a ‘large format feast’ has my attention, so I was excited to try the pork version with a big group of friends. For $ 75/person, 8 – 20 people get to chow down on an ENTIREPIG over three courses. I’m not sure where the ears and feet ended up in the meal, but I do know that it was some of the tastier pork I’ve ever had. Highlights included the first course, a pig liver mousse and the roasted pork leg with charred brussels sprouts. Unfortunately, by the time the last few dishes came out, we were so stuffed that it was hard to truly appreciate them. It may have been a good thing because the dessert was a pretty disappointing bread pudding. The menu we saw before said we were getting a cobbler, which I love, but it’s hard to get a good bread pudding. Though again, I was so full I could barely sit up straight so it didn’t really matter what it was. Now my complaints, which may have brought this review down to three stars if the food wasn’t sooo good: — They got our reservation number wrong and we didn’t have enough space at the big table. They ended up making an awkward L-shape with another table, making it really hard to have conversation. — Oh, they never apologized for it. — On the menu it makes it sound like the beverage packages($ 35 or $ 65) are optional add-ons, but when I got there I was told that we were all getting the all you can drink package, like it or not. I would have definitely passed on the package if I had the choice as I hate getting all you can drink deals(it’s a surefire way to get sick), and besides I had started the night with strong martinis that I would have skipped had I known. — Overall, the cost per person ended up being $ 170. I assume that’s the food, drink package, and gratuity(though I thought that may have been included in the per head cost?) Very pricey, but you do get a LOT of food. We had about half the pig to take home for leftovers, which to me kind of defeated the purpose of having a whole pig feast since so much inevitably went into the trash. So if you keep those things in mind and don’t mind splurging on a nice dinner with a big group, I think you’ll enjoy.

3.5 stars — Pretty decent Belgium-styled food, without a lot of wait. Had a pretty good roasted chicken here, with their own homemade chicken sausage. Everything was moist and flavorful, with just the right amount of salt. All the vegetables I had here, however, were just okay. I had some mustard greens here, which was a daily special. However, the minced shrimp was just a bit too overwhelming for me, and the greens were a bit too welted and overcooked. The beers here are interesting, however. Most of the time, a bit too sweet for my taste, but they have a good variety. Very attentive service. A good effort.
