I am here on a 15 min break. Two jazz players are playing. There is a entrance to the train station blow.

It’s a nice park! I walk by every single day. There’s great seating and the train station is right there. The atmosphere is great. What else can I say?

Verdi Square is surrounded in magical, stunning, and colorful architecture of buildings in Upper West Side. Verdi Square is a destination park, and close to a wealth of entertainment options all over Upper West Side, one of my favorite neighborhoods in all of NYC. Visit Verdi Square in a beginning of an ultimate NYC experience.

this is a great place to sit down and have lunch on a nice day. the stone seats/benches form a loop in the center of this park, and it’s usually not that crowded here. you can also people watch since this is one of the exits for the 72nd st subway station, which is generally very busy during the day. recently, they’ve added a gelato stand so you can grab a scoop of icy sweetness after lunch.

Verdi Park. Is it the best park in NYC? If you add a pumpin’ street band playing Miles Davis and gets everyone rocking on a beautiful night, Its the epicenter of the world.

I never knew the name of this tiny little patch of greenery until tonight. The NYC Parks Dept calls it Verdi Square. I’ve always just thought of it as the little park/mall at the north end of the 72nd street 1,2,3 subway station. In the twilight of early evening today, I made the mistake of eating a sandwich while sitting on one of the benches in the mall at the edge of the park. I kept hearing rustling in the leaves of the low-lying plants just behind the bench followed by screeching. When I finally turned to see what was going on, I was confronted by the beady eyes of a huge rat that was crawling out of the garbage container beside the bench. The rat leaped into the park to join its mates, and they had a merry old time. Never fear, the NYC Parks Dept is apparently already aware of the rats infestation problem. I had somehow missed the«WARNING: Rodent Poison» signs tied to the trees in the park when I originally sat down.

Albeit small, this is a lovely triangular area filled with seasonally changing flora(privately funded) and a statue of the great composer and several of his operatic characters. In days of yore, it was called Needle Park for the nearby drug trading. As the neighborhood gentrified, so was this parklet cleaned up.
