An east-meets-west themed playground named after famed Civil War general William Tecumseh Sherman(1820 – 1891). It’s rather delightful and a good spot to hit up while exploring the west side with your kids. The old school weather vain atop the relief station is quite enduring.

We have been coming here for years with both of our sons and it’s a great playground.

A playground with a large paved play ‘field’ adjacent. The playground and yard are adjacent to PS87 so they are closed during school hours so that the school can use them for recess. The yard is used for school dismissal. After school they get very, very crowded. The playground quickly fills with after-school play time from PS87 and also with older kids from other nearby schools. The playground is geared towards toddlers and elementary school kids. It has two jungle gyms, one appropriate for toddlers, with toddler swings. The other for older kids with monkey bars, etc. In the Summer it has a sprinkler feature. Their are bathrooms and a water-fountain. The yard area has basketball hoops and lines drawn for other various ball sports. On weekends you may find adults playing basketball there. This playground is right across the street from Chirping Chicken and across the Amsterdam Avenue from The Cottage(two of the UWS most loved eateries).

Nice option for the kids to get out and play, but the equipment isn’t very modern. Better for younger kids.

Usually come here to bring the kids to have a nice after school afternoon they can scoot or skate in the basketball yard and afterwards or while they at it they can have really yummy icecream(or you can go to 16 handles a corner before)

Summertime sounds sweeter with a few sprinklers at the local playground. Kids play well together and families are friendly. A great spot!

A totally random playground in the city. I wander by this place a lot as I roam the UWS, and when it’s warm it seems like a great place to, well, take your kids! Maybe when I have some and I am around here, I will take them there to play. For now, I’ll keep walking on by.
