They raise the price every time you go and always blame the last person who charged me, never honoring their price quotes. The owner is so rude and stated«I charge for everything I can, I charge for everything I touch, everything is extra» and then raised the price even further(I know, within 2 minutes price jacked up 20) and hung up on me. Save yourself.

Immediately on arrival I felt the place did not have the energy or the right appearance of the staff. My stylist, Erik, refused to use a curling iron for my wavy style, assured some blow dried courts would work. Needless to say, they fell flat within two hours. Their pricing scheme is also vague. Instead of $ 40, they charged me $ 45for(wavy). Style is it adequate, does not hold. I would NEVER go back, and DONOT recommend to anyone.

Worst salon experience I have ever had. I’ve never given my business so regularly to any establishment to be treated so poorly. I’ve been a customer here for over a year now and go frequently for pricey blowouts. Due to an unexpected emergency this past weekend I missed my appointment and wasn’t able to cancel. I was charged the full amount without ever having been informed of the so-called 24 hour cancellation policy and definitely without EVER having given consent for my credit card to be charged without my consent. When I called the salon, I was spoken to condescendingly by whichever receptionist answered my call. I was later called by the owner and told that if I chose to dispute the charge I wasn’t welcome in the salon again. Needless to say, I am disputing the charge and neither myself nor any of my friends and family will be stepping foot into this salon ever again. Definitely not recommended.

I tried to make an Friday appointment using a Gilt Voucher. Even though there is nothing on the voucher that says Fridays are excluded, the receptionist said that they don’t accept the vouchers on Friday or Saturday. If I knew that, I would have never purchased the voucher. It’s completely unprofessional and bad business to change the rules on potential customers. Key word is potential. Too bad– this place could have become my regular place. I live right around the corner.

Although I welcome the addition of this salon to the hood, it disappoints. It is pricey for an establishment that advertises itself as a Dry Bar(my blow out was $ 57), loud and chaotic, not very friendly and does not have convenient hours. All of this said, I will probably be back due to lack of other options in the neighborhood and it beats having to resort to the salon across the street for blow outs, which is just as pricey with rude service.

I have been coming to the Valery Joseph Blow Bar for a few months and I have to say they are truly the best ! I have not only searched for the best blow outs on the UES but also all through Manhattan and finally found my place. Leo is truly talented and knows exactly how to give me the soft waves that I love.

Reasonably priced and conveniently located on Third Avenue between 83rd and 84th Streets, this is a welcome addition to a neighborhood short on quality hair salons. Unfortunately, this isn’t the friendliest of places. The staff must think they are catering to the Madison Avenue flagship clientele and it shows. Lots of gossipy noise among the staff and not many smiles. You’ll get a great haircut, but you’ll be made to feel it is being done in a high school gym class, amongst the Mean Girls.
