This place supposedly closed last Monday. I found out because I had a reservation and walked in to find former employees explain to me the owning partners of the restaurant had a falling out and closed the place down. I wasn’t given any notification of the closing which was pretty inconvenient.

First time here. Enjoyed the Flatbread, goat and beet salad, and the kobe beef role. All excellent and brought to table very quickly. Would come again for sure!

Me the Mrs. decided to checkout their cocktail bar on a Saturday night. The setup is pretty decent, although I wasn’t too happy about the lighting at this bar. It’s a bit too bright for a cocktail bar. However the view is just amazing… especially if you can admire the hustle-bustle at 42nd St. &8th Ave junction! This review is only for their cocktails. Drink wise, our bartender was relatively new and said he was still learning the menu. for a newbie, he did do pretty well, however, I only realized that he didn’t really do that a good job with one of my orders. the classic rusty old fashioned, which our 2nd bar tender did an amazing job with! My first order was made completely incorrect and I was even charged $ 14 for that! Their infused cocktails are on HH until 11:00 pm. these cocktails are just OK. nothing great about them. but then at $ 8/$ 9 they look pretty decent for the location. Noise level that night was a bit loud as there was a huge group seated next to us and they were quite drunk. But once they left, it was quite fine. Service was good, no complaints there. Good place for a date night at their restaurant downstairs.

Hidden gem on your way to Port Authority. Got to try the mushroom flatbread, the mussels, and the kale salad. A little pricy but it’s in Times Square! Also it’s way better to sit in here and wait for your bus rather than with the creatures of NYC.

If your in the heart of Times Square and it’s raining and your looking for a nice place to have a quick bite and some good wine. Then this is your place. I had the lobster Mac and cheese which was good with a glass of Malbec with also was pretty good. Nothing spectacular to boast about but a decent place to just enjoy a nice Tuesday dinner

Went for the free swing dance party. I love that the space is so big and upscale, the bathroom is clean, that there is no cover and coat check is free, but a few things prevented me from rating urbo higher than 3 stars, namely: 1. The bartender who refused to pour my boyfriend and I water unless we ordered a drink special because it was going to get really busy later on(was not busy at the time we arrived and asked for water — around 7:40pm) and somehow all those people they were expecting later on would just know we only got water and ask her for it. She then pointed us in the direction of the water cooler at the end of the bar and told us to get water ourselves, which she could have done in a nicer way and which would have been okay if there were actual cups/glasses for one to put water into alongside the cooler. 2. The place where the live band plays is really small and packed with tables/chairs. There is a very small space for actual dancing. Granted, there is a huge lobby like space that is kept empty outside of this area where you could dance(but do not get the experience of the live band). I feel like they should move some of those tables/chairs out of the space. It is uncomfortable to just eat there with people squeezing by you all the time. 3. The price of the items of the menu are ridiculously overpriced(I guess they have to make up for the no cover policy somehow). My boyfriend spent over $ 20 on a burger and fries… and had to wait forever for it.

It does staples well. Not straying too far into the inventive dishes this spot is bound to be a crowd pleaser. It’s upscale atmosphere is still warm and inviting. Best of all the bar is in the back so those who aren’t particularly keen on children can effectively avoid the family. The open kitchen in the middle is a killer stylized element to your dining experience. You may think this will fill the room with food smells and have you leaving smelling like you spent the last 6 hours cooking. You are wrong. There is Tons of ventilation and open space. No cramped seating and no food smells. They have an amazing event space upstairs if your party just can’t fit in the dining area. I would highly encourage you to check it out.

If you’ve been naughty this year, and karma has decided to repay you by forcing you to be in Times Square, then I would pick this as a possible candidate, since Red Lobster, Olive Garden, and whatever else is something I wish on no one to expereience. The inside ambiance is 5 stars, really trendy inside, and it’s HUGE, so very easy to get a seat. The food itself isn’t super inventive, but good for people of all tastes. Friends ordered the flatbread and burger, burger came with a huge serving of fries, and the flatbread looks a tad greasy. The price on drinks was pretty on par, glass of red wine was ~$ 8. The service however is incredibly slow, you usually have to wave them down for so much as water/bills/taking the bill/ordering, etc. And one of the staff people kept circling around smacking his hands on the menus… which was annoying and just… strange.

I was scared to try this place because… Times Square. However, URBO is an incredible alternative to the chain restaurants and packed out places to eat in Times Square. We were seated right away and treated to excellent service. The ambiance is great with a giant indoor fire place in the middle of the restaurant and a modern and sleek feel to it, very romantic. The menu has a decent amount of options, but not too much that one would be overwhelmed when trying to decide. It was interesting to see a mix of both sushi and American dishes. The grilled lamb sliders were AMAZING and I wish it came with 20 sliders instead of three. The mix of lamb, dill, and cucumber sauce was great. Instead of regular shoe string fries I got the truffle Parmesan fries. I have ordered truffle fries from so many places, and Urbo NYC has the best ones hands down. A generation portion and the perfect flavor. Would definitely come back here again! I’m only deducting one star because the prices were ridiculous. Twenty dollars for three sliders? Ten dollars for a California sushi roll that anywhere else would cost 5 bucks at most? Craziness. But it was an incredible meal!

If you’re stuck in Times Sq and can’t bear to look at another chain logo, URBO might be your place for a more unique spot that won’t scare your unadventurous Midwestern parents. The prices are decent(for Midtown), the dishes are decidedly unthreatening to the standard palate, and there’s plenty of space to park. The Steak Frites is well done, but I’d skip the sushi rolls, which were borderline inedible. For drinks, try the Manhattan Island Girl. Service is pretty good if you come during non-peak times, and if you ask to be seated by the window, you can people watch all the crazy characters spilling out of Port Authority.

We walked in with 8 people and were seated within 5 min. Not bad for a Saturday night in NYC. We had appetizers and a couple of sides to start. The truffle fries and mac & cheese were great. There was also a bacon dish everybody likes but I didn’t try it. Our server was training but if he hadn’t told us, we would have never known. He was great, and very patient. We had lots of requests. Lol Dinner was served and we were all pleased with what we ordered. They also have a kids meals that had a hearty helping of spaghetti that my niece ordered and loved. Great location. We had a nice time. Giving 4 stars because they had a private party upstairs so a line kept forming at the 1 bathroom on the first floor, which was annoying when you’re sitting at the back of the restaurant near the bathroom.

I kind of really hate this place. I feel almost bad for giving it one star because our semi-server and the bartender were nice but management needs to wake up and actually manage the place! I’ve been here twice now and both times I had really annoying experiences. It is such a pity because the space is huge and beautiful. And it doesn’t even really give off the vibe of a tourist trap. Even though it’s in times square, I wouldn’t have minded going to this place. If only the execution of how this place operates didn’t annoy me so much. The first was when it first opened for brunch and as my friend and I were waiting for our other friends to arrive, their host was being so rude to us, being extremely sarcastic, not the funny haha sarcastic, it was the condescending kind of sarcastic and actually wouldn’t leave us alone. I was immediately turned off and it was really my only memory of the place initially. I don’t know if he still works there but I wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t. I don’t even remember what I ate but I do remember just being super pissed at the service the whole time I was eating and personally vowing to never come back. Unfortunately I had to come back because my co-workers had chosen this place. My second time was just last night(Thursday) and it was just as annoying. My co-workers and I went upstairs to the bar to get drinks and noticed that both ends where the seating areas are were closed off. We had just called on Tuesday to ask if anything was reserved for events(because we had a relatively big group and wanted to make sure there was seating) and they had said no. I can’t imagine two big companies would call to reserve a space a day before their actual event at a Times Square restaurant. I can’t confirm it but what really bothered me was the fact that they were supremely understaffed to tend to everyone. There were two bartenders in that whole joint upstairs to serve the two parties as well as walk-in patrons. Are you kidding? There wasn’t even a waitress walking around picking up drinks for the people at the event. They have like 4 people standing outside to get people to come in but only two bartenders to serve at a bar on a Thursday night! I actually felt bad for the event people because there were just a ton of people waiting to be served. The bartenders tried to move as fast they could but it was way too much to handle. I saw people trying to flag them down and had to wait so long to get their drink. A lot just ended up leaving and I would have left for sure if I wasn’t there with a pretty big group. As for their food, it’s nothing special. Not great for sharing between groups of people. We ordered some flatbreads and fries because that was the only thing that resemebled sharable bar food. It finally calmed down around 7 – 8 but it was probably because everyone was over it and had left already. I am just not understanding how this type of service is managed. Overall, food is overpriced and service is disorganized. I would never personally suggest to come here again.

Volveremos!

Many of my New Yorker friends think I’m silly, but I love Times Square and all the fun it holds. As I walk around, I am always quick to spot a restaurant I want to try, and I had to hit URBO. This is a comfortable, and stylish place with a modern industrial feel where you can eat or just have a cocktail. There is a wide range of food items to chose from and I feel that the items are very affordable. While I was there, I was told they were just about full to capacity, yet there wasn’t that many people in the restaurant. The tables were very close to one another, so myself and my assistant sat right next to strangers which isn’t a problem, unless we annoyed them with our conversations. The drink orders took awhile to get, and the close proximity of the tables made it hard for the servers to get them to us, but the Sushi we ordered was wonderful. By the end of our meal the place was very full, so it may be wise to make a dinner reservation for party’s over two people. One last note, the bathroom is shared by men and women, and it was a holy disaster. Water and toilet paper everywhere, just an absolute mess. But that said, I would return and try it out once again.

Okay. I go through Port A almost everyday. I noticed this place a week ago. Unilocal filled me in tonight. I’m hungry and want a drink. So a perfect fit. Went to second floor bar. Had a pickle martini and the bartender suggested the lamb sliders. Both delivered. Nice atmosphere. Wednesday night. Hopping. Swing dancing and a Louisiana jazz trio playing. So all in all Drew a good time.

URBO Kitchens is a comfortable stylish place. Both the food and the service was very good, with one major flaw that prevented me from awarding a five-star review to URBO. The problem was speed of service. While the greeter and server were both very friendly and attentive, everything took too long – we waited over 10 minutes after ordering our drinks to get them and to order dinner, and then dinner also took longer then expected to arrive. While we didn’t mind a leisurely dinner, the real problem was that my wife’s and my meals were served lukewarm. They were both properly cooked, but it seemed they’d been sitting for a while. My wife almost returned her chicken to be reheated. I’m less picky about temperature, but my Hangar Steak was definitely served warmish but not hot. And, to top things off, the drink I ordered before the food arrived was delivered when I had almost completed the meal, so at every possible turn, the service was disappointingly slow.(The place was not that crowded, so I’m not sure what contributed to the leisurely service.) We did share our disappointment in the temperature of the food with the server, and he handled it marvelously(which is why this is a four-star and not a three-star review.) He was apologetic and not defensive; he offered to take the meals back for reheating(we declined); and he spoke with the manager and knocked one of our drinks off the bill. It is pretty much the way I’d expect a great restaurant to handle a complaint, and I was impressed with URBO’s responsiveness and our server’s professionalism. As for the food, my wife’s chicken was very good. My hangar steak was quite good – not the best I’ve had, but well prepared. We both really enjoyed the decadent chocolate peanut butter caramel tart. And the drinks, while slow to arrive, were well made. It was far from perfect, but we’d come back. The ambiance, service and food were good enough to encourage additional visits. One tip for management, if they read this(other than work on speed of service): The emergency door onto 8th Avenue has no sign, so patrons used it throughout the dinner. The evening was windy and wet, and every time the door was opened it created an unpleasant draft into the place(that was so bad, the person at the table next to us asked to be moved.) Your staff tries to intercept people to ask them to leave via the main door, but an «Emergency exit only» sign would go a long way to eliminate a small problem for your diners.

In an alternate universe, I’m a very happy gay man. In this universe I mistakenly put my trust in HopStop, make a bad executive decision to take a cab to correct it, get to Well-Strung’s show 20 mins. late, am forced to sit in the rear with zero view of the stage in URBO’s second floor bar, and is left with rear views of tightly toned bodies of tiny gay men. You could bounce quarters off of them, I swear. I could blame it all on my feverish state(yay, head cold!), but nothing, NOTHING can fix the layout of the second floor bar. If I had fair warning, I would have planned on getting there a 5 pm when the doors opened. So, now here I am giving you fair warning. If you don’t get a table between the stage and the bar, you are shit out of luck. After the show, I decided to gab a seat at the emptying bar(I will not comment on the dill weed that used an entire stool for his bag the way I so desperately want to). I continue to order double Rum & Cokes in Manhattan and continue to get single-sized glasses. At least the pour was frighteningly heavy. I’ll make due with Coke-flavored Barbancourt any day. And while there, why not order some overpriced bar food in my desperation to not go back home, crawl into bed after taking cold meds that don’t work? Oh no, you will not get me with the $ 12 Mac & Cheese! I’m delirious, but I’m not stupid. The better value is the rather lumpy Pulled Pork sandwich. It comes with a mess of shoe string fries, so it’s less if a sting after that cab ride. Eh… Didn’t waste my pre-paid, non-refundable ticket, got a strong drink and adequate food in my belly. I’ve had worst days. In my alternate universe, I could probably say the same.

I’ve been meaning to try this place for a while so I ended up popping by the other day for a business lunch. Oddly the place was virtually empty but we were told it was completely booked and the hostess shuffled us to the bar. Either way the bartender was friendly and attentive so that was a plus. The meal itself was good. I had a caesar salad which was fresh and the lettuce was crispy. The steak was also solid. The meat was tender and the mustard aoli was creamy but tart. Service was okay — it didn’t take long to get our salads but our entrees took quite a long time considering the restaurant wasn’t anywhere close to full when we were there(though it did start to get crowded by the time we left). Based on this initial experience I think I would come back here. I’d be very curious to see how the dinner service goes, especially when I can have the opportunity to actually sit comfortably at a table. Will definitely make reservations for that in the future.

I’m sorry to say that lunch at URBO was disappointing. The service was slow and the food mediocre. There was one single communal restroom for makes and females. For a large restaurant, this is not acceptable. The only positive about this place is the ambiance, which drew us in to dine. We waited 20 minutes for the bill after having to ask for it. While we waited for the bill, a couple of diners sat at the table next to us, but left after 15 minutes as they had not yet been served, or even had menus or water brought to their table. For the first time on our trip in the US. we did not tip as we received no service.

Cool upscale feel to the place with great staff. Food selections are limited but good variety of the limited Had the Cobb salad with chicken. One of the better ones I have had in NYC. The service was great and attentive. Heard there is a more of a bar up stairs that is supposed to pretty good but I didn’t venture up to look. They did make a pretty fair old fashioned Over all it was pretty good place and I would recommend

I have passed by this restaurant so many times, and for some reason I did not walk in. Well, finally today o did. One word to describe it AMAZING! It’s Michelin star worthy but with reasonable prices. They cave full bar and craft bear from local breweries. For appetizer I had the pork belly, with mixed baby mushrooms, watercress and a very delicate poached egg in the middle. Main coarse had the roasted Duck breast served with a savory demiglace, broccoli rabe and swe crusted bread, cook without exageration to perffection! I really don’t know why it has so little reviews and not the five stars.
