Unfortunately, I did not have a great experience when ordering delivery. My girlfriend and I decided to try this restaurant for the first time last week. We were in the mood for getting Chinese food delivered after a long day at work. Their menu had a large variety of options, including traditional Chinese and Japanese appetizers, soups, and entrees. The delivery was timely and accurate. We started with pork dumplings and two pieces of complimentary BBQ pineapple chicken(note — the complimentary appetizer was a promotion on GrubHub). My girlfriend enjoyed the pork dumplings, while I thought they were of average quality. We were not a fan of the BBQ pineapple chicken. I ordered the General Tso’s Chicken Special, which was listed under the«Chef’s Chinese Specialties» section of the menu. This included a sizeable portion of chicken and a side of white rice for $ 12.95. While the quantity of food was good, I found the quality to be below average compared to other like restaurants in the area. It could have been an off night considering this was our first try, but I hope to have a better experience if ordering again in the future.

What was I thinking? Placed an order through yesterday. Roast Pork with Mixed Vegetables. The pork was SPOILED, the brown sauce was nasty, the vegetables were undercooked. I called and they asked me to pack it up and the delivery guy will pick it up with my refund. After about 40 minutes, I called to see what the ETA was — since I had to leave. The woman asked if I drank the soda I ordered — and charged me for it — after the inconvenience they put me through for sending spoiled food — lol. I was fine letting the delivery guy keep the tip — but never again will I order from them.

Being a chef and a restaurator, I would rarely write a bad review as I can understand that an establishment could have a bad day. However, this is by far the worst experience I have ever had in NYC. I called the restaurant with a couple of questions regarding the food. The man who picked up first wouldn’t listen to my question by repeating«phone number» several times. Then I was finally able to get a word in and ask how was their dumpling made, he simply hang up the phone. Shocked and out of words, and still giving it the benefit of the doubt, I called back asking respectfully if it was a mistake. I dared asked my question again to be answered: «this is shit!’. Wow! The owners should really think about customer service!

We waited for about an hour for the food. When it came the miso soup was cold, the roasted duck never came with pancakes, the can of coke was missing, the delivery guy was rude and abrasive. When we called up to tell them about the missing coke they didn’t offer free pancakes they charged us 50 c for each pancake. I would’ve have accepted their mistakes because it happens if they would actually give us something in return for their poor customer service. They also told us it would be 20 minutes before the coke and pancakes arrived. No apology and the guy on the phone was mumbling so could hardly understand what he was saying.

Who are the people with broken taste buds that give this place 5 stars on seamless? I ordered the General Tso which is their most popular dish, and it tasted like freezer burnt cat food, and it was luke-warm(yes it was delivery but I’ve had plenty other delivery chinese not require time in the microwave, while this did). I ate half of it because I was starving, but tossed the rest because I just couldn’t take the dreadful taste anymore once the hunger was subdued. I got an egg roll too as I was nervous about the General Tso being bad and wanted to have something that is usually predictable as a backup, and the egg roll was doughy and flavorless and I didn’t finish it either. The only reason I gave a VERY generous one star for this almost completely inedible meal was that the delivery man was quick, but honestly who wants to have bad quality food delivered quickly? Save your $, eat elsewhere.

I waited for an hour and 20 minutes for my food only to send it back 2 minutes later. GARBAGE. Why would you sell Pad Thai if you don’t know how to make Pad Thai? I wont be ordering from here again. Put some love into your business or you will be out of business faster then you can say Uptown Cottage.

Terrible. Got the«fresh squid» and crispy walnut«prawns». Squid was just cut up pieces of frozen squid, battered and fried. «Prawns» were just normal pieces of shrimp, battered and fried — 80% batter(see picture).

HORRIBLE!!! Do NOTORDERFROMHERE!!! I would’ve given them zero stars but it wouldn’t allow meto post. Ordered a Sashimi Salad because it sounded so delish. What was on the menu was FALSE!!! It was actually a Spicy Kani Salad. I DONOTEATSPICYFOOD! When I called to clear things up and perhaps fix up, what I thought was a mistake, I was told that this was the sashimi salad. I explained that the menu said something different and that I did not eat spices only to be told that sometimes they«make it different»!!! Basically they told me that there was nothing they could do about it. NOFOODANDNOMONEYBACK! So I was screwed out of dinner! THANX! NEVERAGAIN!

This place is a Chinese restaurant only by definition — they have chairs and tables and waiter service. The food however is standard stuff you would find in any hole in the wall Chinese takeout. This is an okay place to get your run of the mill General Tso’s chicken and sweet and sour chicken, but not a place to go for authentic Chinese food.

I never learn my lesson. I need to read Unilocal reviews before ordering ANYTHING from grubhub. Before I ordered from uptown cottage I was only a little hungry and just wanted something light. I ordered steamed dumplings and a sweet potato roll. Shortly afterwards I got a text message, stating my order will arrrive by 7:50pm. Only then did I decide to read the reviews. Horrible. Inedible food, bad service, late deliveries. I was so happy I didn’t use my debit card. After 40 mins I finally have up and got a pizza but that was after I tried calling their establishement only to have it not work. One hour later the delivery guy showed up and he didn’t speak or understand English. I tried telling him to forget it because the food was an hour late. He didn’t understand so he called someone on his phone said some mumbo jumbo and walked away.

So apparently this place also goes by Adam’s Chinese Kitchen on GrubHub as that is who I ordered from but the receipt saus Uptown Cottage. Regardless of the name this is extremely overpriced food that has neither the quality or quantity to support me returning. The food took over an hour to deliver. When it came the cold noodles were warm and the hot food was, well, cold? Charging $ 8 for 4 spare ribs should mean you get some great ribs but instead I received 4 overly charred and not very meaty ribs. Last thing and I don;t know if this is a GrubHub thing or the restaurant but their prices on their receipt do not match what is online so after all the items they needed to list another $ 5 in «web» charges. I understand that all these convenient online ordering systems need to be paid for what they do however I don’t want to know and I certainly don’t want the restaurant to upcharge an already costly menu to get them into this century of online ordering. In summation, too slow, too expensive, food not too good… that is all.

The scallion pancakes are the only redeemable value of this institution. The delivery service is poor and they often do not speak english very well. Prices are OK, food is OK, delivery is sub par. TL:DR; scallion pancakes good, delivery sucks.

Never ordering from here again(found it through Seamless). General Tso’s chicken: decent but the chicken was tough … unusual to find zucchini in the dish Eggroll: huge but absolutely tasteless! totally surprised how that’s even possible Fried rice: mushy and bland. the fried rice I make at home is 10x better Delivery was supposed to be 30 – 45 minutes. My delivery took 1 hr and 10 minutes. NEVER again.

It’s reliable Asian food close to where I live. Everything is good enough… But nothing really wows you. The egg rolls tastes kind of funky and the sweet and sour anything is not really great because of the batter they fry the stuff in. But the hot and sour soup is pretty good and some of the sushi rolls aren’t bad. The woman at the front is pretty unpleasant, but again — I don’t come for the service. It’s almost always empty and there are usually disgruntled employees hanging out by the back kitchen door. If it weren’t convenient I’d probably not come here.

Nothing like watching a huge cockroach scurry across the floor while you are eating. Staff squashed it by stepping on it — then left it there! Yeah…needless to say we lost our appetites and left there in a hurry!
