I ate here as a last minute choice. It was a Thursday night and it was around 8pm. The place was moderately full. It took them about t5 minutes to get us seated even though the table we sat at was empty the entire time. The food took longer than I usually care to wait but it was good. I recommend a reservation if your going to fine here.

In the city for the day and came here wth a friend for a quick mid afternoon cocktail. Like walking into a different era off from the huddle and bustle of the loud city. Great atmosphere and friendly service. Like stepping back in time and watching the deals being made all around us was cool too.

I had the honor of eating at the Upstairs at 21 for my boyfriend’s father’s company’s(too confusing?) dinner celebrating going public. I consider myself very lucky for having the opportunity to eat at such a historic restaurant. We were warmly welcomed by the wait staff with plenty of delicious wine. The cocktail hour flew by and we were seated for a four-course meal. During our meal, we had the wonderful opportunity to learn the history behind the 21 Club and the very room we were in. What an amazing part this restaurant played the early twentieth century! The room was beautifully decorated in a very authentic, classic American style. It was cozy and very conducive to enjoying a great, American meal! Dining at Upstairs at 21 was a once in a lifetime opportunity that not many people get. I wouldn’t dare give it less than five stars!

First, praise for the excellent, friendly service Saturday night. M’D Kyle, and waiters Jorge and Nick could not have been nicer or more professional. Jorge escorted my wife to the ladies room downstairs to make sure she found it without having to ask. The room is cozy and beautifully decorated with murals of landmark areas of NYC. The food is excellent, and spaced properly, with no rushing between the 3 course menu. If you want a quiet dinner so you can converse with someone you care about, this is the place. Some couples did pre-theater, but we dined leisurely on our anniversary. Strongly recommend,

I brought my love here for her birthday, and we had an outstanding time. The upstairs host, Christopher, was charming, and very helpful. The servers were attentive, and respectful. When we arrived we were given complimentary flutes of champagne for making reservations online, a limited time offer. As for the food, we ordered from the The $ 73 Prix Fixe menu. She had the Beefsteak Tomato appetizer, and I had the Crab Cake — both were delicious. For entrees, she had the Filet Mignon, but asked Christopher to substitute the morel au jus with a red wine reduction, which he was more than obliging to do. I had the Mixed Game, which included a Wild Boar Chop, bacon-wrapped rabbit, and a housemade sausage — both entrees were delicious, and cooked to perfection. Dessert was the highlight of the evening. She had the Chocolate Blackberry Vacherin with apricot coulis, and I, the New York Cheesecake with tropical compote and passion fruit reduction. There are no words that can describe just how pleased I was with my choice of dessert. The combination of the passion fruit reduction and the creamy cheesecake was superb. Overall, it was a night that neither of us will soon forget. We will be returning in the future.

We ate here on a Saturday night and it was the best experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant. The level of service was unparalleled by anywhere I’ve ever eaten. The dining room seats only 32 people. The entire room shares one waiter and 3 busboys. There was a $ 35 and a $ 70 prix-fixe menu. We ordered off the $ 70 menu because it had steak but it was like no other prix-fixe menu I’ve ever seen, there selections were huge. The waiter misheard the cut of steak I ordered so when I brought it out and told the busboy it was wrong they took it away right away. The waiter came and apologized profusely, he genuinely seemed mortified he made a mistake. I ate it anyway because it was still a fine cut, he insisted many times he could reorder the meal but I declined. He took the wine off the bill. When we first sat down we were given sparking wine in a flute. The food was excellent and cooked to perfection. When my wife couldn’t decide between the cheesecake or crème brule for desert he made it simple: he brought her both! I enjoyed the sorbet myself. I highly recommend this place for anything visiting NY. Great mid-town location but very expensive when you add in drinks and the fact the recommend tip is 20%(we did 30%, it was worth every penny).
