This nondescript truck first caught my eye with a blazing hot pink star sticker that boldly proclaimed«$ 1.» A dollar what? Tacos — pernil(pork), pollo(chicken), chorizo(sausage) and something else that I didn’t take in because my brain froze when I saw«chorizo.» I promptly ordered one and handed over a dollar. As I waited, I looked over the rest of the selection. Everything else was a drink — either sodas($ 1) or drinks($ 2) that were lusciously tempting. Piña(pineapple), margarita(wait, did I misread that? hmmm — perhaps it had said sangria), mandarin(orange, I assume), limon and others that I don’t recall at the moment. I will take a picture and update this tomorrow when I return for a pernil taco. In any event, I received my chorizo taco promptly, and she asked if I wanted everything on it. I did not realize that«everything» would include a guacamole-salsa blend that melded wonderfully with the chorizo taco. It wasn’t mindblowingly delicious as the one that I dream about at Los Comales(in Durham), but it was absolutely incredible for $ 1. I definitely plan on populating my future picnics at the Conservatory Gardens with tacos from here. It’s open Monday-Saturday from 10am-6:30pm.
