Great spot. Less expensive than the other ones in Spanish Harlem yet with great service.

I decided to try this place out because of the reviews posted here. I went inside and there were a few people siting down and waiting to be seen by the doctor. I waited by the counter for someone to ask me what I needed. I literally waited about 10 – 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged me. I walked out after I found out there would be an even longer wait. This business is severely understaffed and just kind of BLAH…

Okay. So far I’m writing purely on customer service of the way they handle telephone inquiries. The first time I called (I am getting glasses for the first time) to ask regular questions the woman was really bitter and didn’t answer any questions I asked –just told me to come in.
I called back today and I don’t know if it was her or someone else but still rude. I’m about to go there because it’s the closest place around me and who knows? Maybe they’re totally different in person. But so far not good.

Well this place rocks. I think it’s just a language barrier. When I went in the staff was really nice and helpful and made me feel good. The lady that helped me was very nice and accommodating and even gave me her opinion of the glasses I tried on.
I recommend this for anyone that needs glasses.

The time came for me to get new glasses because mine are so horribly scratched. I went in there yesterday got my eye exam and picked my glasses and I was done. They told me that it would take a week to get my glasses but they just called me an hour ago saying that their already ready which is really fast! I will definitely be coming back here:)

I had a great experience at Specs For Less. The doctor was very friendly and thorough. He explained everything to me and was a pleasure to work with. Jose helped me from the beginning to end — he helped me pick out glasses and was there when I picked them up yesterday. I picked up my glasses yesterday and wore them out of the store. I really love them!
If you want a no frills, efficient place with fast, friendly service, come to Specs For Less. They are really wonderful people with a great selection.

It’s not my favorite thing crossing from the west to east side of NYC. .. and I have to put aside at least 2 hours if going to SoHo or above 86^th Street.
The trip was worth it as the employees were polite and professional at Specs For Less. They are in Spanish Harlem on the west side of 3^rd Ave btwn 105 and 106, a couple of blocks away from the 103^rd St stop on the 6 train.
Titanium frames start at $ 200.00. Buying glasses, like buying a tie, is something personal and this is the 4^th store I’ve visited recently.
I found some frames I really liked and they weren’t discounted using my HIP insurance.
Amanda worked it out so that I still got the discount. On top of that Miguel stepped in and discounted the anti-​glare lenses.
All told it was a little under $ 300.00, still expensive, but about the best you are going to do in NYC!
Specs For Less got rave reviews on Google but I didn’t see any on Unilocal for this particular store. So here it is. .. I’ll be back!

I wanted to give half a star but it was not a option!!! Yes!!! They are rude and condescending. I wish I never gave them my money! Avoid at all cost!!!

Specs for less is a quality place to have your eyes checked and get an eye exam. They have a great selection of eye glasses and eyewear to choose from. As a nurse, I would recommend Specs for Less for anyone that needs a quality eye exam and needs to purchase fashionable eyewear

I’m sorry others had a bad experience, but I will definitely go back to Specs for Less. Stephanie and Amanda were VERY helpful and helped me find the perfect Lenses for my face and personality.

I was pleasantly surprised, this was the only store that accepted my insurance, I was able use my insurance for the exam and a free pair of glasses, I purchased a second pair for sunglasses. The service was fast and I got a one year warranty in writing. Good value, staff was nice, I would go back!
