Pretty ambience. Chocolate butter was yummy and a nice touch. We shared the pear and Gorgonzola pizza. Nice flat crust, not greasy at all. Service was awful. We went at 1pm on a Sat and were literally the only people in the restaurant. Awkward! He didn’t keep my water filled and was no where to be found when it was time for the check. In short, good food, service and customers lacking. Found it extremely uncomfortable to be the only patrons.

We were here for Brunch today and was pleasantly surprised. Was surprised to find this massive restaurant almost empty when we showed up for our 12:30 pm reservation. We were also almost 30 minutes late to our reservation and called ahead to let them know and the hostess was very chill about it, major brownie points there. 3 adults and 3 kids, they gave us a back table with tons of room to spread out. The restaurant is very open, clean and bright. The walls were lined with what I think were bottles of limoncello, one of my faves. The offered both their both brunch menu and their regular menu, also their kids menu so we ordered a smörgåsbord of items. ~ Arancini di Riso con Funghi(arborio rice, mushroom, bufala mozzarella, arrabiata sauce): Love me a good rice ball ad this one was it! hot and crunchy on the outside, creamy and buttery on the inside with a a nice hint of mushrooms. They arabiatta cause had a nice bite to it and went really well with the balls. ~ Mozzarella in Carrozza(breaded, pan fried bufala mozzarella with anchovy, spicy marinara sauce): I’m not a big anchovy fan but in this sandwich I am. Crusty bread nicely toasted with a layer of melted bufala mozarella and thin pieces of anchovy. Served with a yummy nicely seasoned medley of roasted veggies(yellow and green zucchini, red peppers, and eggplant) ~ Pappardelle del Giorno(fresh home made pappardelle of the day): today was bolognese… my friend seemed to enjoy it and the sauce was abundant ~ Brasato di Manzo(braised beef short-rib on the bone, white polenta) beautifully braised, great thick accompanying sauce and the white polenta was seasoned perfectly to accompany the beef ~ Kid portion of lasagna: the dish was licked clean so def kid approved! ~ Porchetta Eggs Benedict(poached eggs, broccoli rabe, porchetta, hollandaise): Crusty italian bread, nicely poached eggs, tender broccoli rabe leaves, salty bite of porchetta and a luxurious hollandaise = a yummy tummy! ~ Panettone French Toast stuffed with sheep’s milk ricotta: Great combo of ingredients. The sheep’s milk ricotta was not gamey at all and really balanced out the sweet from the panettone. Garnished with fresh berries, it was perfect. The serving staff needs a bit of work but the food itself is worth it!

I love this place! This is my go to in Tribeca. Everyone is really friendly and they do their best to make you feel welcome. Pear garganzola pizza is soooo good! Been a fan for years. There’s nothing like it around! All the appetizers are yummy. Especially the frutti di mar– I love the fried shrimp! This is also the only place that serves nutella with bread during brunch. I die! The entrees are all amazing. well prepared, quality ingredients including their fish and meats. I cannot rave enough how good and fresh their branzino is and how perfectly prepared their steaks are! Soooo good! Then there is The Cheesecake. OMG it is the best cheesecake. The crust is a bit thick how I like it and the ricotta is the perfect match. I just set you up with the perfect meal. Pair it with some good red wine and fabulous company and you’ve got yourself one hell of a night!

Pizza Lardo was thin crispy and beautiful. But the staff attitude was stressed and dismissive. How many times do we have to say this sort of thing before restaurant owners understand that service is 80% responsible for your success. I just don’t get why this point is consistently ignored.

One thing you can say about this place is that they are consistent because the moment we walked in it was one of the worst dining experiences. Here is the lowdown:
— Waited at least 5 minutes by a empty host stand before the floor manager greeted us — Server basically was a mute throughout the meal. Never asked us how we liked our meal, etc. Had the personality of a wet brick. — The manager did ask how the meals were before we had a chance to take a bite. Great timing! — Carpaccio was sliced too thick that came with burned cheese crisps. The plates were so hot you could fry an egg continuing to cook the food. Ravioli were soggy, overloaded with short ribs. — WAY overpriced You’ll have better food at the Olive Garden. Avoid this place!

Pizza is wonderfully thin and crunchy. We had the pear and Gorgonzola pizza and the Margherita pizza delicious and light. Also enjoyed was some arancini(rice balls) I believe there was mushroom within. A little pricey but tasty. Enjoy.

I went with some friends and family on a Groupon deal. The place is in Tribeca and I wasn’t super impressed with the décor and the diner style menus. We got seated by a friendly greeter with glasses at a table right by the wine cellar. I saw that the bread they served was freshly cut and served with ricotta cheese. So the deal consist of 2 appetizers and entrée for 4 plus a bottle of red or white wine. Now this place is pricey! Well what does one expect in this neighborhood? But we were not limited in anything that we ordered except the wine. Which they bought out a red and told us that they don’t have house wines and the recommended bottle was better grade than that. Great! Appetizers devoured include: Tartare Di Tonno diced yellow fin tuna, raw fennel, cucumber and blood orange. YUM! Tuna was fresh, plump and melts in your mouth. Frittura Mista fried calamari, shrimp, artichoke & lemon, arrabiata sauce. Also pretty good. The Entrees the four of us wanted to try were: Brasato di Manzo braised beef short-rib on the bone, polenta (2)Costata di Manzo alla Griglia aged ribeye, mashed potatoes, broccoli rabe A mixed grilled meat dish with Italian sausage, lambchops, Chicken, flank steak. Needless to say we had a feast. The meat was cooked to our specification and the portions were incredibly large. Well seasoned but not over. You can still taste the grilled meats and the natural flavors It was a great dinner filled with delicious food and good company. Would we go back with out the discount? Probably not. We enjoyed a fantastic deal.

I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this place yet. I mean, I have been here many times and my friend and I know some of the waitstaff here. My friend’s husband works here so naturally this is going to be a biased review. I have been on several occasions and the food has always been decent and satisfying. Much of the waitstaff are Italian, so there is authenticity to the place. They always start you off with crusty, light bread. One of things that we like to get here is the pizza with pear and gorgonzola cheese. The pizza is very thin crusted and it isn’t heavy at all. Today, we also had a cream of chestnut soup, which was delicious. The pastas are also decent here and the main entrees are solid. The place is also quite spacious, so if you need a place where you can talk or hear yourself, this works out well. Good, decent Italian food in a nice, roomy setting. Great spot for that second or third date where you are trying to get to know the other person better.

Came here for lunch with coworkers the other day and we had mixed reviews among ourselves. My coworker ordered the Gnocchi and he said it was delicious… so maybe I ordered the wrong thing? But it was based on the waitress’ recommendation, so either she and I have distinctly different taste or the chef had a bad night. Let me rewind just a little: first when we walked in, I loved the setting of this restaurant; warm colors and decos, perfect for the holiday season. However, when we were seated at one of the red-bench booths in the back, I noticed some details: the bench was disgusting; there were dark stains and cracks all over the place… well, that didn’t help my appetite. Then, I ordered the $ 23 Oxtail Pappardelle since it was one of their Specials and the waitress raved about it. When it came out, the dish looked delicious! Extremely meaty sauce, just the way I imagined it to be. The oxtail meat was pretty good, but seriously though, I had to down 4 glasses of water to finish half of my plate. It was SO salty, and thank goodness I don’t have high blood pressure, otherwise that probably would’ve cost me another physician visit. And now, when it comes to paying, the check was $XX.15…so we gave them a $ 100 bill to break. They decided to keep the coins(i.e. 85 cents). It’s really not a big deal at all, but it shouldn’t be their decision to make. Even if I were to give the change to a homeless person on the subway or just toss it away, I never said they can keep it for themselves. Anyway, probably wouldn’t be back here again if it were up to me. But if coworker wants to come back for lunch as a group, maybe I’ll give their pizza a try next time.

My brother and I decided to check out Trattoria Cinque due to a Travelzoo discount voucher that he had purchased. The restaurant was located in a prime area of Tribeca, just steps from Nobu, Thalassa, Locanda Verde, and more. However, this could also be a negative for this space, because its slightly above average food could never compete. Upon my arrival, I discovered that the bar area was totally packed with happy hour patrons who were enjoying the tail-end of the free pizza that accompanied their discounted beverages. The dining room was delightfully decorated with brick walls, just the perfect amount of lighting, and tons of open space. The host staff was extremely friendly, and I loved how we were escorted to a table in a less crowded area of the large room. As I sat and looked around, I noticed that each group of diners was perfectly spread out, leaving one or more tables between each bunch; there was no overcrowding here. We also had menus, water, and bread delivered immediately — another plus. The artisan bread was spectacular. Slices were cut thickly; the dough was very moist; and the crust was sprinkled with flour for a real home-baked feel. The standard side of butter was replaced by a whipped spread of herb-filled, sheep’s milk ricotta in olive oil. The Travelzoo discount included a 3-course meal, which enabled us to choose any appetizer, entrée, and dessert from their regular menu. After the addicting bread carbfest, we decided to forgo their renown pizza and pasta dishes and stick to the rest of their country-style Italian fare. For starters, we began with the carpaccio and a soup. The Beef Tenderloin Carpaccio was unbelievably delicate. The thin slices of meat were served on a massive platter and topped with a salad of celery root, arugula, and pecorino cheese. A thin, cheesy lattice crisp was laid on top of the leafy blend for texture. The dish was elegant and simple, but packed with flavor. The Ribollita was a hearty vegetable stew that included cannellini beans and even some bread. It was served in a small cast iron skillet, which only added to its rustic nature. A dash of freshly ground pepper was a must, though, as the«soup» was lacking some seasoning. In terms of entrees, the Braised Short Ribs were served on the bone and extremely moist. They had obviously been cooked in red wine, as the flavor was extremely pronounced, but this was definitely a positive aspect of the dish. The meat was served with slices of grilled white polenta to perfectly sop up the decadent sauce. However, the Halibut plate was a bit dry. It was cooked with a crisped skin that was hard to slice. The fish was served over a thin, Mediterranean-style broth made from tomatoes, olives, and capers. Small potato cubes had also been tossed in as an added starch element. While I enjoyed the tomato sauce, I found the halibut simply mediocre. The short rib plate definitely won this course. For dessert, we both ordered the Seasonal Apple Tart and absolutely devoured it! The crust was moist and buttery forming a thick base and a lattice lid that was filled with dry, seasoned apple slices. There was none of that gooey pie filling involved. The tart was of a substantial size and served with a giant scoop of vanilla ice cream and three fresh apple slices. The chilled vanilla cream was extremely light and low on sugar; it appeared to be home-churned. Every element of our experience at Trattoria Cinque simply screamed country-style refinement. The food was hearty; the décor was comfortable and understated; and the service was welcoming. While our meal was enjoyable, though, everything was just slightly above mediocre, making it a place I would be happy to visit, but not go out of my way to frequent.

Its one of those places that you have to try more than once to get a feel for whether you are a fan or not. I went on 9⁄11. My friend and I need to catch up on each other so she and decided TriBeCa would be perfect. We’re near the water, so to speak and you can’t beat unlimited bellini or mimosa. So far I’m digging the food. We both had the frittata. It had my favorite ingredient. BACON!!! For starters we have the bread with Nutella. My gosh. Heavenly. Will have to go back again and try these pizzas I’ve been reading about.

Hubby and I got the travel zoo voucher and came out for a 3 course meal($ 50 for 2 people). We were able to make reservations for 7pm the day of on a Saturday night(yay!) The restaurant is in a picturesque area of tribeca, and the inside of the restaurant is HUGE with a low-lit, classy atmosphere. Great place to throw a party. It was a beautiful night, but unfortunately they don’t have any al fresco dining. Hubby and I started off with the caesar salad, which was liberally sprinkled with fresh parmesan. Next up was the highly lauded Gorgonzola Pizza(gorgonzola, pears, truffle oil, colonnata lard and mozzarella — very thin crust but huge!) I wouldn’t have gotten this pizza but there were so many rave reviews I couldn’t resist — and I’m glad we got it! A must. For our main courses we had the Ravioli Di Brasato(home-made braised shortrib stuffed pasta — every bit as delectable as it sounds. You get about 8 large pieces). Hubby had the Costata Di Manzo Alla Griglia(aged ribeye, mashed potatoes and broccoli rabe). He got this because it was the most expensive item on the menu and he wanted to make use of the voucher, haha. It wasn’t bad, but the only thing remarkable about it was its size — a hearty slab of meat. For dessert we shared the italian cheesecake(average) and the Affogato Alla Vaniglia(vanilla ice cream, espresso, whipped cream). This was heavenly. You get a perfect ball of vanilla ice cream in a chilled cup and pour the espresso all over it. That, along with the heavy cream made for an amazing dessert. 4 stars with our travel zoo voucher, but without it, seems a bit pricey for what you get.

Cinque = 5 in Italian. Trattoria Cinque = a restaurant that only offers five things That’s the gimmick here. Five perfect starters. Five pastas. Five bloody marys(brunch). Five entrees. Five desserts. Gimmicks and empty seats aside, it’s pretty good. The pear and gorgonzola pizza is a must-have. Pastas were OK. Entrees kind of boring. Service pretty decent. Prices about $ 3-$ 5 higher than expected, but the food was good, so I guess it works. Bottom line, there are lots of buzzy places in TriBeCa right now, and this ain’t one of ‘em, but its good food + good service at no wait.

If there is anything I can be addicted to in New York, it must be the pizza at this place. I am not talking about the bite sized pizza on the menu though. Last time, we had four people ordered a bottle of wine. Then we got two huge plates of pizza as complimentary appetizers, one is blue cheese, another is just mozzarella & tomato. Both of them are so great with super thin crust. The blue cheese one is my favorite ever. It completely changed my acknowledge of pizza. After eating the pizza at this place, I stopped telling Italians that pizza was actually originated from Marco Polo’s failure of learning how to make a pie in China, seriously!

Came here for my Christmas dinner with the travelzoo voucher. It was not a bad dinner but I don’t think I would have gone if it wasn’t the voucher. There were barely any customers when we arrived, which was weird because I tried to book a couple of restaurants and they were all fully booked. Does it mean something’s wrong with this place? Anyway the ambience was nice. It was really spacious there. And I like the decors. Definitely good for big groups or private parties. Apetizers: Fried calamari and Carpaccio were both good. Big portion. Entrée: Branzino was good but the couscous on the side was the worst I have ever had. I barely touched it. The Pappardelle was good though. would be better if the size was a bit bigger… the food was not bad but doesn’t worth the price they charge… Dessert: Best part of the entire meal! Recommend Crostata and the chocolate mousse The service was not bad. When our server gave us the check, he said«gratuity is appreciated but it’s up to you» I just felt weird when he said that. Maybe he assumed we didn’t want to tip him because we used the voucher?

Service: 4 Food: 4 Ambiance: 4 Deal: 5 One of those«pretty darn amazing food» spots. The food is rich in flavor, savory in taste, and mmmmm filling — though I do find it funny how one entrée presents 5 small raviolis(though some of the best I’ve had) while another a gigantic, huge steak. I ordered the Branzino — moist, well seasoned, tender, very good though similar in quality as others I’ve had(yum, but no «wow!»). But did I mention though they were small I would still have traded my fish for my friends 5 raviolis? Yeah, it was THAT good. I wish I could get more than a tasting bite and had to stop my fork from wandering over to his plate.(seriously, those forks have a mind of their own!) Our waitress was very sweet and never let an empty bottle of water or plate sit on the table for over 5 minutes. Spent a wonderful holiday dinner here w/friends. Thank you Cinque!

The service was fabulous. Our waiter was attentive and offered suggestions. The staff never let a our glasses go empty and the food arrived promptly… not that it mattered as were busy enjoying our awesome drinks. We had a coupon and despite not having spent the full amount we were granted the full discount. The waiter stayed to make sure my steak cooked the way I wanted. It was tasty as was my friends lasagna. I also had the ice cream with cappuccino dessert – very delish. The atmosphere was elegant and cozy. Would I visit again? Hell yeah!

4.5 stars The food was great, the service was relaxed, professional and spot on. When 3 of us wanted to split some pasta, apps and pizza the waiter was all over it. He recommended the proper sizes for things including a «children’s sized pizza» which was so big I can’t imagine what a real one is. And that pizza with it’s guancale and perfect crust was sublime. Forget the gorgonzola thing — keep it simple. This was a memorable pizza. The caesar salad was wonderful. Of the 3 pastas, the pesto just didn’t do it for me. The spinach ricotta gnochi were without peer. Deserts were good(semifreddo and profiteroles). The waiter brought out some lemoncello after the check.

Whoa — kick ass pear gorgonzola and truffle oil pizza! It’s huge but thin — probably good for two people and supplement with a soup, salad or dessert! Not that you couldn’t eat a whole one, but more flavors are better than 1. Piadini porchetta was a bit on the salty(and small) side for $ 10 Pretty space — super friendly staff — the bread and sheep’s milk ricotta(very similar to the $ 9 appetizer at Locanda Verde) comes with your meal for FREE! DELICIOUS!!!
