Frigid day today, came in for some chicken soup. Soup was cold, what’s the point in serving cold soup and how hard is it to serve it hot.

Tick Tock Diner should be called Tick Tock Scarf Barf Diner. It was terrible! It’s woefully understaffed, so it takes forever for them to take your order. The understaffing contributes to their likely messing up the order — I ordered onion rings instead of fries — but maybe I should have kept my fries because the onion rings were drenched in grease. My «medium rare» burger tasted like rubber. I resent places like this: they know a reliable MSG/tourist customer base will always be there. «Feed the rabble gruel; they won’t know the difference!» You may recoil at this business approach, but since Tick Tock is still standing after all these years, we know it may sadly reflect some kind of reality. AVOID.

I used to like this diner — until I saw the manager allow something so outrageous, I’ll NEVER be back! Late night on Super Bowl Sunday, I stopped at the diner to enjoy a bite before heading home. Out of nowhere, a young and seemingly drunk blonde girl got up from her table, went behind the counter to the refrigerated dessert case, opened the door and grabbed a slice of pie with her bare(and likely unclean) hands. While several inside the restaurant screamed out in disbelief, the manager saw the whole thing but stood unfazed behind the register and simply laughed it off. Not two minutes later, another female who was sitting with the first woman, got up and walked over to the display to have her turn at dessert. Except, she stuck her bare hand into a whole cake, grabbed a hunk, then also grabbed TWO pieces of pie(also with her unclean hands). She then stood with the refrigerated display open and quickly took bites from the dessert that dropped out of her mouth and back into the display case and onto food. Again, the manager just laughed and let it happen without saying ONEWORD to either woman. By now, several people inside the restaurant were uncomfortable and felt the manager was allowing an obvious health hazard. It was obvious the restaurant wasn’t going to throw away all the dessert that was now tainted, but would instead sell it to unsuspecting future customers who’d be unaware someones hands were in their dessert. However, when the manager was asked why he would allow such behavior, he simply replied«I have other things on my mind to worry about besides that.» HUH??? I have NEVER witnessed anything so disgusting yet preventable in my life. For a MANAGER to allow multiple customers to stick their hands in food that others would later eat — and not care ONEBIT — I started to wonder what could have happened with my own food before I ate it. If he would allow such an obvious health hazard in front of paying customers, what does he allow inside the kitchen? Take my advice and stay away from Tic Toc Diner. There’s no way of knowing whose hands the management may have let dig through your food before you bought it!!!

Convenient location. Nice dishes. Avoid the food. They seriously need to either hire chefs who can cook, change managers, stop getting ingredients from the dumpster or something. Seriously, for a diner with their reputation, they’ve stopped caring at all. Hope I don’t get food poisoning. Yech!

Excellent food! High quality diner! Great prices for the area. I have been here several times with many friends and each time everyone’s dish was more than satisfactory. I would highly recommend this diner for anybody looking for a delicious, affordable bite.

Just like every typical touristy diner, they have an acceptable breakfast. I got eggs, home fries and turkey bacon. The turkey bacon seemed like it wasn’t cooked enough, so either microwaved or thrown on the grill for 3 minutes. My eggs were okay also wasn’t cooked very well. The home fries seemed like they were sitting outside for a while and not really fresh. The staff were nice and the service was fast after all. I would probably go back if I’m in the area again and get something different.

The food is regular diner food, nothing spectacular. I come for the coffee, to mingle with friends when it’s late… they are always open. I will say the pancakes are really good, but they give you too many, lol. Oh, the staff is super friendly.

I’m a little taken back by people who come to a diner and expect an experience like that at Mortons or Capital Grill. I open with this because this is a good diner, I know this even after being here one time. We walked in to a warm greeting and was immediately seated. This place is BIG, yet the noise level was well below average and we could not see anyone sitting with that look of «Where the heck is my food» look. My wife and I were there for breakfast and I must say the HUGE portion of eggs, french toast, meat and potatoes was ample for four people but priced well for two. My eggs, «over easy please,» were delivered to me perfect as my wife’s «very well done, over hard, cook the yoke dry eggs.» There is something to be said for that. Our waitress, even though as busy as could be, stopped by often to check us for coffee and confirm that everything was O.K. We walked out extremely satisfied and almost surprised that a place this big, and busy serving the same meals to everyone scored so well.

My friend, girlfriend, and I came in here for some dessert after dinner in NY. I got a slice of carrot cake and my friend and girlfriend both got a milkshake. The carrot cake was a pretty standard carrot cake. Nothing to write home about, but not bad either. What I liked about this place though, was the diner atmosphere. It’s odd to see a diner in midtown and connecting to a hotel too. The waiter was nice and really just left us alone even though we only had desserts. Overall, this was a pretty cool place to chill. I might consider going back for some food, just to see how it is.

This is exactly what you expect from a place that advertises itself as «The Largest Diner in New York City» and is located steps away from Penn Station. It’s the sort of place designed to suck in tourists or weary commuters in need of a quick bite before hopping NJ Transit or Amtrak home. I’ve been here twice and the food hasn’t been good, but it has gotten the job done when I was hungry and looking for a reasonable-priced and quick bite. Stick with the basics – a grilled cheese or burger. Or better yet, unless you’re desperate and don’t want to wait, find another nearby spot for a meal.

Tick-Tock Diner review #639… I think everyone in the world has eaten at this diner —out of pure desperation. For a diner, it’s not the best. It gets by because of its location, not the food. It’s overly priced, doesn’t always have everything on the menu, but I’ll be back because it’s near Penn Station, Macy’s, Loews Theater and stuff. Food examples: Ordered a Belgian waffle(ok) –but the syrup was as runny as water. Ordered hash browns –not available. How is that possible? They’re potatoes. Ordered an egg cream soda –it came with ice-cream on the side. Um. Ok. Thanks for the free dessert. Ordered lemons with my water. Delicious! Best lemons I’ve had in a long time. Seriously. My party of 2 had dinner for $ 33. Left an $ 8 tip. As for my waiter, he was great! Attentive, nice and helpful. You can’t go wrong, whether you choose to dine here or to avoid it completely. It’s a damned paradox.

I’m not normally a whinger when it comes to rating restaurants but I’m giving this place 2 stars due to: * surly maitre ‘d * burgers were dry * over-priced food & drinks * waited too long for check — had to walk up to counter to request again * kids meals are same price as adults That will do.

Si podéis evitarlo, no entréis aquí. No digas que solo quieres beber algo porque te mandarán a la última mesa escondida en lo más profundo del lugar. Camareros desagradables que parece que tienen ganas de que te vayas. Lo llego a saber y ni me molesto en tomarme algo aquí. Nada recomendable.

Do yourself a favor and stay away, Completely inattentive waiting staff, we waited longer for our check than we did our food and good luck trying to flag someone down for anything. The food was mediocre and overpriced all considered. Too many good places to eat in the city, won’t be back. ***Update*** To add insult to injury while doing a weekly review of our expenses I found that they had added a $ 6.00 tip to our bill when I had clearly not left them one on the signed receipt.

Call me pretentious, but what we ordered was not Filet Mignon… staying at the Doubletree Times Square South… {That is another story fraught with major inconvenience) We called in a late night dinner for delivery from«TicTock Diner» Understanding it’s a diner, not a five star dining establishment. Two orders, one spaghetti ordered arrived with no sauce, none what so ever. Sauce was painfully absent and tasted like red«ting-a-ling». “unbelievable inedible!“ Second order which was forgotten by our delivery person. So he had to make an additional trip back to our hotel. How can you destroy… A Tuna fish sandwich on wheat and an order of Mac and Cheese? Mercy we spent 50.00 dollars to have slop delivered to our hotel room. Keep your money in your pocket… Tic Tock was Hickory Dickory Dismal! #EpicHotA$$Me$$ #ShoeLeatherTastesBetter

Wanted to try a NYC diner while I was here and stumbled across this one. It was late at night and sat at the counter so service was quick and good. I ordered the mozzarella sticks with marinara to start. The sticks were average. I’ve had better and I’ve had worse. I personally didn’t care for the marinara but I could see how others would. I ordered the steakhouse salad for the main course and wasn’t unhappy with my decision at all. Portion size was good, steak was flavorful. It could use some chopped red onion and some shredded cheese, cheddar perhaps, but otherwise was good. Prices were decent as well. George was great

Great. A real good 24 hour diner. Midnight came around as the stuttering neon glow drew our attention; as we strolled in, we were greeted promptly due to excellent heads up observation of the kind and friendly hostess; Me being from NY I don’t experience much of this«good treatment» too often… I don’t expect to either, although it is much apreciated if it happens, so, this was a fantastic start… thinking to myself«now only if they could pull through, I really hope they do!» After being quickly whisked to our table and discussing the surprisingly large amount of customers at the late hour, the waiter showed his face, greeting us kindly, and rushing off to bring us our water and take our order. Fast service, good price, great food… The Baja Chicken wrap, was out of this world and so clearly not what I expected… yes I am raving about this place a little excessively but, you must keep in mind that i doubted this quality from a diner… My chicken was tender and juicy; the salsa full of spice and flavor, the tomato fresh and the cheese plentiful as i like it, coleslaw followed suit and put this wrap over the top… not even that hungry I forced myself to eat the entire thing, which was not short on size… I then thanked myself and paid the bill. I’d easily go back. Keep in mind it is still a diner regaurdless of my ranting and raving… so, you will not be getting an aged Filet with fricassee potato… but you will still have a wide and tatsy selection.

Tick Tock is fairly regular diner, across the street from Penn Station /MSG. I have eaten here a few times and can’t say anything bad about the place. The serve pretty solid diner food, as you might expect. I have had omelets, French toast and pancakes here. Everything has been pretty good. Nothing will blow you away, but nothing will let you down, either. The service is ok. It seems to be on the slow side and the last time I was there, I had to hunt down the waiter for the check. Aside from that, it is a decent choice for inexpensive food in the area.

Well, the customer service here sucks. Our waiter disappeared throughout the time we were there and extended our stay by 30 – 45 minutes. Granted, we were not in a rush but it would have been nice to not have to get up and go to the counter person to pay our bill or flag anyone passing by for assistance. The full three stars go directly to the wonderfully crisp and non greasy grilled cheese with tomato and ham and that ice cold vanilla milkshake(which possibly saved my life late night). If you don’t know what else to have, get this. The side of fries will fill you up if nothing else will. Bathrooms are downstairs past the connecting hotel entrance. To reach the restrooms, one descends a staircase which allows a glimpse at their private party room. This is possibly the best feature of the diner aside from the food. They are open 24hrs and are a pretty solid choice if needing a typical diner experience– minus the service– before heading home. Definitely beats any other late night food option in the area.

We came for breakfast around 3AM and we were seated in nice booth seating right away. The interior of the restaurant was nice and bright, the décor was very cute. I ordered the Capn Crunch French Toast which comes with mixed berries(strawberries and blueberries) and vanilla cream sauce, supposedly. I must admit the French Toast was delicious — It came in thick pieces, piping warm with the berries in between the bread, along with maple syrup on the side. However, there was no vanilla cream and I had to ask for it twice. The first time the waiter brought a red berry purée so I had to flag him down again(difficult to get his attention throughout the time we were there, even though the restaurant was not busy) and I finally got my vanilla cream sauce, which tasted amazing by the way. It was sweet and complemented the French Toast beautifully. Also shared fries, which were thin and crispy– The way I like them! The service was not very good. The waiter seemed preoccupied and kind of out of it. Toward the end, I could tell that he was trying to make up for his inattentiveness but the damage had already been done.

Tick Tock Diner gets the job done in satisfying cravings for classic American breakfast. A diner located just one block away from Penn Station and across the street from the movie theater. The interior had a classic old-school diner feel to me. It is quite bright in there with lots of space. Waffles with a side of bacon was my choice for breakfast that morning. Usual round Belgian waffle. It was quite soft but was not fluffy as I would like it. Bacon just needed to be a bit more crispier. It was not bad but nothing spectacular neither. Two Eggs Any Style with Sausage and Home Fries. I felt that the dish was not bad at all. Sunnyside up eggs were made perfectly. Home Fries were actually pretty good by itself or just add some condiments for extra flavor. A great value dish of choice, if you don’t know what you want. Service was really borderline. They got us what we want and nothing more. I would appreciate some attention rather than trying hard to flag someone down when the restaurant was quiet or some more teamwork from staff who are just standing around.

Kaffee bezahlt man pro Tasse.

Klare Empfehlung

Tolles Diner in New York.
