Great place to kick back and enjoy yourself. Good choice of beer, red and white wines. The sangria is the best tasting sangria in town(I’ve been told its a family recipe handed down from Grandma). In the winter there’ s that hot apple cider to warm those chilly bones. All in all the place to meet cool people, cool sounds, and a kick-ass bartender/owner to boot! Price: $

this place is pretty gross. played on their free pool table, but felt like i got a disease just from touching the sticky pool cues. i guess that’s why it’s free. beer and wine only. not bad prices, but for the obscenely dirty ambiance, it’s a bit of a stretch. the bartender was cool though, and although the outside was closed when we were there, im sure it’s pretty cool… if im in the area again, i might just have to go back for the sake of being disgusted again when playing pool.

This place is disgusting. it is not an real bar, but a theater foyer used as a party place at night. It is not a traditional theater foyer, because quite clearly the space was a run down school cafeteria. It feels just like a filthy college basement party thrown by middle aged management to make easy money off a bunch of kids with nothing better to do. The is no sand, beach or outside area, just half dozen of worn in sofas, a pool table and scuzzy bar.

Reminds me of an old church. I’ll just say, hope Jesus wasn’t watchin’. *brushes shoulders*

Went to see a rock show the other night. The second band was just about to take the stage, when the singer mentioned the bar wouldn’t honor her drink ticket. The other members of the band reported the same, unthinkable, cheap, disrespectful news — the bar refused to honor drink tickets they had issued to the band, claiming that they should have been redeemed by 10 pm(it was now 10:15 and no one remembers having been told that). Hearing all this, I approached the bartender and gave him the opportunity to «correct his error,» to which he gave me a helping of smarmy attitude and referred me to the manager(I think it was the owner). This stingy, disrespectful, cheap-ass dooosh basically tells me to go to hell. I then grabbed the mic and informed the entire audience that none of the bands’ drink tickets were suddenly being honored — even though they were just about to play! I asked everyone if that pissed them off nearly as much as it did me. Needless to say it did. Also needless to say, I was promptly extricated. So for a mere 5 bucks(his cost), the apehole that owns The Suffolk has made at least one enemy and secured his place in NY history as one of the cheapest, most exploitative club owners around. Nice work.

A. I really don’t want to big-up this spot in fear of d-bag immigration during the summer B. Luckily, its tough to find so I won’t have to worry too much about joey tomato and mikey bag-o-doughnuts mingling in the gene pool C. Once I see an ed hardy or tap out shirt, I’m outtie D. Otherwise, I’m all about relaxing and drinking in this dope joint

I had to do a double take before finally committing to enter the Suffolk. On first glance it looks like a church, and it could very well have been one, I never did get confirmation. The bar is in the back and the entry room at the time was being setup for an art exhibition that was going on the following day. To the right and left were some theatres, because this is also apparently the Clemente Soto Velez Cultural Center. Talk about your jack of all trades. It’s beer, wine, champagne and sangria only, and there happened to be an open bar for the particular event that drew me to Suffolk. There are some cozy chairs and a faux fire place, but the real draw seems to be the backyard beach. That’s right, there is a beach, sans ocean, in the back. Unfortunately on this particular day the weather thought it would be fun to add some water and alas the«beach» was a muddy mess(Although I was told that this proved helpful when a few patrons decided to partake in some mud wrestling — I never said this was a classy event, ha). But it definitely looks to have some potential. I even saw half a dozen beach towels inside that looked ready for action. I would definitely come back to check out the action on a warm and sunny day, however those days do seem to be getting fewer and farther between.

This place is decent. I djed a party here a couple weeks back and, besides the fact that I spilled beer on my equipment and the music ended at 1:30(on a Saturday), this was a good spot. NOT great. It’s not like any other place I’ve been to in town though. It’s really open, and it’s kind of like Santos, I guess. Just smaller. But it’s like being at a house party with a bar and a beach in the back yard(the ‘water’ to this beach is a parking lot). The guys working there was nice and the party was fun while there was still music. I’d say for something different, definitely check this place out. GREAT for groups. Girls night out probably would rule at a spot like this.

Came here on a random night hangout and this place reminds me of surf bar in wiliamsburg, brooklyn. they have a man-made beach theme in the backyard. and a small area in-door. For a perfect summer night. this could be a cool place to hangout. The drinks here weren’t so good. and it’s more laid-back type of crowded. They said they open during the day too. so it could be a good spot to come and tan. maybe I should check it out during the day.

Place has a bit of an identity crisis… but it’s $ 3 beers, and not crowded on a Saturday night.

I’ve been to the CSV for a few Rubulad parties over the years, but when did they put a beach bar here? According to the bartender, it’s been there for 6 years, but I’m suspiscious. How the h*ll would I have missed it for that long? It’s a fun place, kinda smallish, but quirky and original. It seem to be full of groups of girls having birthdays for some reason. And the energy was funny, like you had gone for a hike in brooklyn and found an bar, and went to hang out in the garden. There is an indoor part too which feels like an oddly designed living room. The place is comfortable, but odd in a bunch of ways. I doubt I’d make it a regular hangout, but it’s worth passing through, or doing a Sunday bbq here or whatever.

As I was walking on Rivington, I saw a sign for The Suffolk Beach Bar. Being from Florida, I literally thought it was a joke. So I ventured to see what a LES beach bar looks like. The entrance is though an old dilapidated building covered with scaffolding. Once inside, there an immediate light which draws you to the back of the building — and Wha — LA!!! A bar, tiki posts, lounge chairs, SAND, and a grill — all in a vacant parking lot. For beach bar in the LES — not bad! The drinks were on the cheaper side(beer $ 3 – 5 and wine $ 6). All in all I had a great time and cannot wait to come back with my friends.
