A historical bar with a lot of stories. Lots going on here. Do not use the bathrooms, they might need some updating. But the bartender was tops and the drinks were reasonable and cold. We attended the vigil for Orlando and the community support was incredible.

I felt like I had to update my review in light of the recent tragedy in Orlando. I once again marched in Gay Pride, but this year was in remembrance of the all the shooting victims and their families. I had to revisit the Stonewall Inn, which has now just been named a national landmark in the struggle for LGBT equality. The mood was bittersweet today, both somber but also joyous, because we can’t stop being happy, we can’t stop dancing and we certainly should never stop just being ourselves.

Literally turned the corner walking towards our traditional hangout(Vons) and was immediately blown away by the site of a massive memorial of flowers, photos and candles. After stepping in for a drink it took quite some time to get acknowledged by either bartender, but once we hung for a while the night couldn’t have been any more magical. Since I moved out of NYC in high school, I’ve learned to appreciate it so much more when I visit… and every time I come back I have EPIC days with the best friends I’VE ever known… Just when we were about to leave we were checking out the bulldog puppies nearby and start conversing with a couple dudes. They offered to buy us dranks so we u-turn it back in and had so much fun. The music was great, we were literally gay as phở and it’s just awesome to finally be «out» and make new friends in my community who also have such unique stories and lives. As we left a guy from NPR latino interviewed us asking why we started lighting candles and getting others to light em, there was a march outside and we all shouted out about how important it is to shout out loud sometimes… cannot wait to go back. Happy Pride y’all!

The drag burlesque performers are not all great — some do a great job while others are boring. Overall a historical must see but not the best bar in the area

A few world would have made my point but Unilocal asked a bit more… My words would have been : LADYMOTHERFUCKKNGBUNNY! Just having a bar serving you some of the best performers all year around is great! Tickets are 20 $ so not so bad and drinks are priced correctly for any NYC west village bar! Nice and helpful people working there :)

The guys here are mean and inconsiderate and clearly do not want anyone straight at this place — I came here with my gay friends and was told to leave because I don’t belong

I’m a fan because of the historical significance. I’ve been here a few times. The drinks aren’t that great. The drag show I saw once was very entertaining. I think there was a stall that was missing a door, and there’s a urinal next to a door, so someone coming in can be surprised at you peeing right there, facing you. It needs to be revamped.

Been here a couple of times, once during the week and again on a Saturday. Both times seemed to be the same amount of people and atmosphere. Not too crowded, and you can usually find a seat. It’s very dark and the music is a bit loud but not so much that you can’t talk to the people you’re with. They make a great Moscow Mule, flavor is on point and it’s strong! Prices are decent and they have pool tables which is cool(although both times I’ve been there they’ve been occupied). Overall, great option in the area if you’re just looking for a quick drink with friends.

I don’t go here often but I find when I go I always have the greatest time! Always such sororities people who are very friendly! Drinks are decently priced and the atmosphere is great! There is always good music and I dance all night! You will have the greatest time here no doubt about it!

I came here after leaving Henriettas, the music was top 40 which is cool, but even the hip hop got changed to like pop/dance beats which was kind of annoying. But overall it was good. I’m assuming the drinks weren’t as expensive as Henriettas because we got a bunch of them lol. The crowd was fun but not as hype as i’d like it to be, I’d definitely go back though. and it seemed to be a lot of straight girls there.

Nice historical pub, but too many straight women hang out there now. Needs more testosterone.

My friends want to see this spot when they visit from out of town. I believe it will soon be a historic landmark. Right now there is scaffolding out front. I usually go to this area to visit Christopher Park across the street. It’s a nice place to sit to rest. As far as the Stonewall food, drinks, atmosphere, or anything inside, I can’t speak for that. At the time of day I visit this neighborhood Stonewall is closed. This is a must see if you are into the LGBT civil rights movement.

My best friend and I have been wanting to check this place out for awhile, and we finally were able to meet up in time for happy hour yesterday. At first glance it looks like just your standard downtown dark and divey bar. Except it’s better, because there’s no annoying straight men interrupting our conversation every 2 seconds, and the bathroom is clean. Enjoyed the music here cause I got to serenade my homegirl with Beyonce’s Drunk in Love. Also their 2 for 1 drinks are prettyyy strong as we discovered, a $ 50 cab ride to Queens later. Didn’t get to check out upstairs, but will next time!

I visited this establishment in early summer. The crowd level felt like an ordinary, crowded, loud bar. When I asked how to I get to the dance party I was there for, I was directed on how to get upstairs. Once there, it was still very crowded but the vibe and music were both better. Overall, it had an pleasant visit, not great but not bad either. The cocktails were of average price for Manhattan. The restrooms are small but quite clean for the high volume of people there that night. Not sure if I may visit again sometime. Maybe.

This is gay-history central — the staff was very friendly and the drinks were great. They do not open until 2pm on Sundays. The crowd was low-key, but with good energy — no gym-meatheads or high fashion divas here — –just normal folks trying to have an afternoon cocktail. If I lived in NYC, this would be my hangout.

I loved this place! Another recommendation from a friend before a trip to NYC. From the moment I first stopped in this bar, I ended up here at the end of every other night I went out. It’s just good fun. I met some great folks here and was lucky enough to make it to Drag Queen Bingo which was also a good time(but I also wan’t rude to the emcee which made it more enjoyable for me). The same bartender was there every night I went and he was sweet and quick. The drinks weren’t bad for NYC and plenty strong. It’s a no frills, anything goes sort of place which I prefer. Only downside was their karaōke night(upstairs) which was pretty awful.

2 for 1 ends at 8:00, right? At 7:57(iPhone time) I tell the bartender I’d better get in on it before it ends. He tells me it goes by his watch, which he says is always 5 minutes late. Cute. Dick move, though, if you ask me. The place has a nice, cozy atmosphere. That said, despite the divey feel, don’t expect divey prices. A well rum + diet coke is $ 7.50.

The Stonewall Inn is a staple and a rite of passage for any LGBT person that’s up to snuff on their queer history or is at the very least learning to be. That being said, the drinks are good and they offer a decent happy hour special — though I do wish they’d include top shelf liquors in their special since well drinks don’t always taste that great to me. Also, this place doesn’t seem to get packed during a regular happy hour and the crowd is pretty well mixed. The bar is a little divey, but since the Stonewall Inn is so old I guess that’s to be expected. This bar is more of a place to pay homage to those that came before us and serves as a beacon for how far the LGBT community has come and even still how much father we have to go rather than being a «hip» place. I come here from time to time with a small group of friends, but only when I don’t feel like being fancy since it doesn’t have a see and be seen kinda vibe. The music is also hit or miss, but I’m sure that what’s being played gets changed from day to day. Worth checking out for sure.

So many things happening here on the weekends! Not only is this place historical, they also make one mean cosmo! They only have bottled beer, no draft beers… which means you’ll never really have to worry about whether or not the lines are clean! This place also has a pool table. Last night I went there was karaōke and a drag show going on. Make sure to bring your ID cause they card at the door.

Historic landmark filled with atmosphere. Always cramped and difficult to navigate, but worth the effort. They don’t carry drafts, and have just a basic selection of beers. However, the music is great and so is the vibe.

Stopped by for a beer with my roommate as we were in the area and since ive never went in — why not? The bartender was attentive and served us right away. The crowd was definitely not my scene though, as there were older gay people… like in the 50s older. They had fun and that’s all that matters.

Went here only three times. It’s an okay bar, but with a huge historical significance behind it. The crowd is very mixed, with lesbians and twinks to bears. Music can be a hit or a miss. Saturday is definitely a night to come visit. Drinks are okay.

Gay or Straight this bar would be great. Why? because of the bartenders. Having lived in the bar towns San Francisco and Chicago I’m always floored by the lack of good bartenders in this city. The guys(and lady) at Stonewall are not only friendly and make you feel welcome and treat everyone with respect they also actually are quick and you never wait for a cocktail. They are always willing to have a nice chat and are always attentive and seem happy to be there. The crowd is always fun. And it’s nice to sit at a bar and actually start up a conversation with strangers to me that’s what going to a bar is about. Plus this place is the Stonewall Inn so it’s just cool to begin with.

Had a gay friend in town so we found our way into Stonewall(mainly for the history ;)). Bartenders were great. They were fun, engaging, and creative with the drinks. Coat check is $ 1.00 and the coat check woman was very friendly and kind. The place wasn’t overly crowded considering it was a Saturday night but the music was hot. We hung at the bar most of the time which was highly entertaining. In the space near the coat check there are quite a few pictures and framed items detailing the Stonewall riots. Very neat so make sure you peek over there before you leave! Also! Bouncer was a female and very nice which is such a treat in NYC. Guy who was passing around Jell-O shots was also super friendly. Loved, loved, loved ALL the people working at Stonewall!

Great Historical Landmark for Gay culture. Michel ??? is VERY Cliquish, and Personally choses Clientele. We used to recommend tis BAR,… like alot of Gay Bars in the Lower Village,… Attitudes run High, and Younger New Management is on Meth and not appreciating the Over 50 Crowd, that helped put these places on the MAP,… Drag Shows are not Glamerous anymore,. they are full of Yelling, and Cursewords, and Insulting the audience of Drunken 20 somethings…

National Treasure. Right up there with Rushmore Naaah. Beats carving up a mountain to stick dead prezz’ez on it. I digress. Stonewall is full of history. And, I think on the National Register of Historic Buildings. Hanging out here is full of history, but also good feelings. It is not the beer, but the bowl of mixed popcorn and m&M’s the proprietor left at our table, telling us what was upcoming for the week. It was the fact that two of us, met other people who stopped being strangers and became friends for about an hour. Telling stories, laughing and just hanging out. The Stonewall Inn paved the way for equality for all of us… gay, straight, black, white. all over the world.

Just had to do my mecca to the place that started it all! :) Pros: Fun crowd, good music and good drinks. The entire spot was smaller than I would have guessed. Bartenders were nice, but seemed more into the regulars than visitors but the drinks were good so that saved it. Parking sucks as it does in the city so public transportation is helpful. However, there’s so much to see and do in this fun part of town that even if you drive, you’d find yourself parking and then just walking around and enjoying, or so I hope. Go enjoy the village, it’s ALWAYS fun!

Secret upstairs dance floor! Last weekend I finally made it to the famous Stonewall Inn. Given its history, I’m surprised I didn’t stop by earlier, but an evening in the West Village had to include a stop here. Walking in, it had some good music but no one dancing. Some people were playing pool, but the majority was hanging out by the bar talking. My group was disappointed because we were told Stonewall was a place to go dancing. After a few minutes, I decided to take a lap and explore the new bar. My adventure brought me to a narrow staircase in the back that led up to the second floor. As I walked up the stairs, I could hear the music getting louder and louder. After a few turn here and there, the main dance floor revealed itself. With lights, loud music, and more importantly, moving bodies, I knew I found what we were looking for. I quickly gathered the troops and we headed to the secret dance floor together. Stonewall is a fun place to let loose and the music kept going all night. I was pretty exhausted from earlier in the afternoon, and the couches in the back provided much needed rest. Be wary of the AC: the water drips onto a particular section and is really uncomfortable to sit under. The crowd was a good mix of gay guys and lesbians, which isn’t always the case at gay bars. I’m glad I finally stopped by the birthplace of the gay right movement and it definitely didn’t disappoint.
