Expertly prepared meal, beautiful atmosphere, very romantic. Even the acoustics are not bad for an intimate conversation. Service was delightful. And overall wonderful experience. Will certainly return on my next New York trip.

The food was so inedible that after 2 tries at my main, I just cooked good food at home instead. Does the chef use a whole tablespoon os salt on every dish, including dessert? I usually order simple fish and vegetables in restaurants, so know what to expect and was excited that there is such a range of those options on the Mark menu. It ends up being about $ 70 for the fish and vegetables, but it is years since I had one cooked so badly(twice), including compared to restaurants half the price. The service is good. The décor is nice, but the chairs are so uncomfortable. The high rake on the back means you have to awkwardly sit forward to be part of the conversation. I couldn’t wait to leave. All style, no substance.

A very average experience for an above average price. I went with a friend and we were both disappointed. They made the entrees wrong and ignored my friend’s gluten allergy(by bringing her croutons, bread, and fries that we didn’t ask for). They also forgot the sparkling water. The management nicely removed 1 entrée but still $ 130 for lunch. Not coming back!

We had four for dinner last night at 8:30. We have eaten here many times before and, in general, had no complaints. Last night’s experience was completely unacceptable. I should further qualify my review by saying that we regularly dine at restaurant Daniel and eat in the finest restaurants in America’s major metros and throughout Europe and Asia so we have in-depth fine dining experience. In addition, I have owned a number of restaurants and luxury hotels and understand the business rather well. In short, I ordered the tenderloin of beef and found the meat to be astoundingly second rate, and the sauce to be completely without merit. My wife ordered the $ 29 hamburger and it was at best, not very good, certainly nowhere near as good as a Schnippers’ burger for $ 6.95. All four of us ordered the frites, which were uniformly little stub-ends and bits that had been mangled in over-used oil. Quite frankly, they will have to give us a dinner before we go back.

Had lunch here on a Monday, so it was a quieter affair and very relaxing. The service is as smooth and polished as you would expect from the chef and the hotel brand. I really liked the copper-top dining table; that was a distinctive touch. I started with the octopus appetizer($ 24), which came with some roasted potatoes and a richly flavorful sauce. The octopus was also perfectly grilled and very tender, which is no easy trick. For my main, I had the linguini with parmesan, black pepper, and Meyer lemon. It sounds deceptively simple, but the balance of all these strong flavors is critical and they got it just right. I ordered the full entrée size($ 28), which was a lot of pasta – so much I couldn’t finish it all, which is a shame. Unless you’re a really hearty eater, you’re probably OK with the smaller $ 20 offering.

The worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. We had made our reservation weeks in advance for a birthday celebration. The day of the event the restaurant’s heat broke. It was 10 degrees outside and the roof was all glass… So it was COLD. The restaurant did not bother to notify us, and by the time we arrived it was too late to make other arrangements… It was Valentine’s Day. While the cold was a factor in my overall experience, it is not my reason for leaving this review. The service was AWFUL. As I said, we were never notified that we would need snow gear to eat at the restaurant. There seemed to be more than enough staff, yet it took almost 30 minutes to have someone take our drink order and another 20 for them to show up. The menu was a prefix three course menu. One of the ladies at our table wasn’t feeling well(partially from the cold) and only wanted an appetizer. The waiter basically forced her to do the prefix menu, taking it upon himself to order her an entrée and desert(of his choice), and proceeded to place the unwanted dishes in front of her during each course. He was extremely rude saying he «had to give her something because it was prefix only». It was one of the most bizarre things I’ve experienced at a restaurant, not to mention a huge waste. The total lunch took over 2.5 hours… After complaining to the manager the only compensation we received was they took the $ 85 prefix charge off the bill for the one person. It is still baffling that they thought it was appropriate to charge it in the first place! It was THE most unpleasant and disappointing lunch I have ever had. I have never been treated that way in a restaurant, particularly a supposed high-end and EXPENSIVE restaurant. I left the restaurant feeling extremely uncomfortable and put down by the obnoxiously rude staff. You could not pay me to go back to The Mark Restaurant. Honestly I would have been happier spending my $ 150 at Apple Bees.

The Mark’s food will always be impeccable. I’ve eaten at the restaurant thrice and each time was unforgettable. The food menu ranges wide and this gives us all the better option to choose whatever we feel like. All their options, whether it be your starters or your entrees or dessert all seem to be extremely spot on satisfying. My favorites however will always be for brunch: Get the Chop Chicken salad — this will blow your mind! With the impeccable blue cheese on top, you could eat this salad all day everyday! And oh those beautiful pecans! Yum! Croque Madame: WHEREDO I BEGIN, this will blow your mind!!! It’s delicious. It’s perfect! Takes you straight to a pavilion restaurant in Paris and brings beautiful fond memories of this French dish. Yummmmmy!!! How does quality high end ham and cheese sound?! Not to mention the carefully melted and unforgivable and generous amount of melted Gruyère sound??? you have a side salad to make up for all the sinful goodness but damn, you will blow your mind! Salmon toast: so generous and so fulfilling, so light yet so perfect! delectable! Healthy but good. For dinner: Begin with a Hamachi or the Tuna Tartar. These are classics that should never be forgotten. The next would be Calamari and Squash soup– these are just as delicious! So pure, made with lotsa love! CRISPYSUSHI: fresh yet delicate and extremely bite size! Lovely piece of good sushi. For pasta: Get the Truffle Pasta or the Lemon Fettucini, complete and utter classics that will always do their job in coating your stomachs well before the entrée. For Entrée: Get the Parm Crusted Chicken, this will absolutely and utterly make you forget your name. DELICIOUSSSSSS!!! Slow cooked chicken in Duck fat and crusted with fresh Parmesan??? How do you even live! Order this and just go straight to heaven. Get the Mark burger: Pure and real no additive /filler beef burger that just truly shows the real kinda burger. Sandwiched with easy fresh Yuzu pickles and topped with a Truffle mayo?! Try it and you’ll never go elsewhere. Oh and there’s also melted Brie cheese on top. You’re so welcome! Match this with fresh Potato French fries that are also to die for!!! Ahhhhhhhhh! they should change the name to Best Burger Ever. Get the Lobster Pizza: HOLYGUACAMOLE!!! BESTPIZZAEVER!!! Parmesan, fontina and Mozarella all carefully browned on beautiful Pizza dough, topped with prime Lobster chunks and zested lemon and lemon Juice!!! ISITYOURBIRTHDAYBECAUSEEATINGTHISSUREFEELSLIKEIT!!! Get the Truffle Pizza: Want to feel like a true Upper East-sider? This pizza is so so incredibly worth it. Black truffle and Fontina Cheese?! Need I say more??? Your jaw will drop with how real it tastes. The frisée garnish on top with truffle dressing is just as fabulous! For dessert: Get the Molten Lava Chocolate cake: UHMGLUTENFREEANDSOCHOCOLATE-Y!!! So rich, so decadent, so sinful but SOREAL!!! Paired with fresh Vanilla ice cream crafted carefully for your delight… This is amazing!!! Get the Butterscotch pudding: THISISTRULYTHEBEST. How good is it? I promise this beautifully made dessert can turn your day around. It’s so delicate, so smooth, so rich so ahhhhhhh butterscotch caramel and a quenelle of crème fresh with sea salt ahhhhhhhhh it’s AMAZING!!! for your drinks? Get any of the cocktails as they all are as superb! Enjoy! This place is AMAZING!!! Not to mention great staff in service too!!!

Really spectacular. One of my go to places. The filet is great and the pizza options are terrific. A standout for me is the shellfish platter. It comes with all the goodies you could want. If you are in a burger mood their Mark burger is startlingly good. Desert is very good and the service is spot on.

My boyfriend comes here all the time on «man dates» and Ive been jealous and wanted to come. I work across the street and eagerly insisted that he meet me here after work so that I could finally check out the restaurant he takes clients to. I had the mussels and the crispy sushi(??), which were honestly both mediocre. But lets face it– my great impression of this restaurant rests on the laurels of the soufflé. Not just the best soufflé Ive ever had in my life, I would go as far as to say the best dessert Ive ever had. The server we had here was also so sweet and intuitive, making the dining experience very enjoyable. The atmosphere of the restaurant is great as well during the evening. I will definitely be back(the soufflé!!!), but will have to try different appetizers and entrée selections.

Upscale, sophisticated restaurant with modern décor and wonderful food, service and atmosphere. I had been to the lounge but had not dined here. I wanted to avoid Halloween craziness and loudness and this was the perfect start. We had a cozy intimate table — in my opinion probably the best table in the restaurant as it was private, set apart from most others, gave us plenty of room, and an ability to sit next to each other instead of across from each other. We did not even hear anyone else talking which was perfect for what I wanted last night. The service was attentive, professional and friendly. My extra dirty martini was wonderfully made. The Mark has extensive menu options ranging from a mark burger and pizza to fish, seafood and lobster. I ordered the halibut over spinach, which was covered in a light crust, and it was fabulous. Adjoining/next room lounge also has a great atmosphere. Highly recommend as a restaurant for a date or with friends or family.

Really, just OK! Was there with NY friends for brunch last week, and we were quite unimpressed! Off day, for sure, but the plethora of seemingly untalented wait staff, very poorly managed, produced a «don’t think we’d bother to return here» feeling, and it WAS expensive! Incorrect orders, an «we’re out of this» AS the food was being delivered to others at the table, eggs coming out barely warm, and lackluster service made for a less than ‘brunch experience. Management did try to redeem themselves by providing the table with a complementary fruit platter(which WAS lovely, BTW!), but by then it was too late. Neighboring tables seemed to have some similar issues… I’d skip it next time we’re in NYC.

I’M LITERALLYGOINGTOHAVE A PANICATTACKDUETOTHEFACTTHATTHEMARKISONLY3.5STARSON Unilocal. It’s times like these I wish I could give a Unilocal seminar on what makes a great restaurant. If someone were to ask me what my favorite restaurant is in Manhattan(I eat out LITERALLY every single day and most days, twice a day, usually at top notch restaurants) I would say The Mark. Why you ask? Well let me explain… ATMOSPHERE Upper east side traditional with a modern twist. The crowd is definitely the movers and shakers of the Upper East Side. The restaurant oozes modern luxury(the hotel does as well). SERVICE The service is always great. Sure maybe there are a few hiccups here and there but honestly nothing to get upset about or notice. The first time I ever came here my friend made a joke about it being a special night or something and the waitress brought over a complementary dessert. It’s that small touch that brought me back here a second time with my family and friends. FOOD Here. We. Go! I really don’t enjoy eating at «fusion places» which blend different styles of food together or places that have large menu’s. I feel like a restaurant should pick one thing and just be very good at that. Well, 1– The Mark has a HUGE menu. HUGE. HUGE. HUGE. The Mark has everything from sushi to fresh seafood to steak to pizza, pasta, cheeseburgers, veal, lamb, chicken… do I really have to continue?! You will feel anxiety just reading the menu as the choices are honestly endless. 2– Definitely has a fusion of many different types of cuisine all on one menu. Yet all surprisingly well executed. + Seafood platter(small portion) — Absolutely delicious and was an amazing thing for 4 of us to share. I think it’s honestly priced lower than it should be for a seafood platter of that size so take advantage of this! +++ Lobster — ABSOLUTELY the best thing on the menu that I have eaten thus far. While it was plated differently the two times that I dined at The Mark, the flavor was still the same. + Lamb — My friend stated that this was one of the best lamb’s he has ever had. + Crispy sushi — Really great. I was cautious with this dish as I eat sushi as some of the best sushi counters in the world and am extremely picky with raw fish but this was not bad. For a place with such a big menu, I was very surprised at how good this dish was. + Char grilled octopus — Delish I can’t remember the other dishes that I had but those were the ones that really stood out to me. DESSERT I’m actually not a big sweets person. I used to be and then thankfully grew out of that stage(thankfully as in calories-wise). +++++ BUTTERSCOTCHPUDDING — Salty, sweet, butterscotchy. Dear Lord! One of the best desserts that I have ever consumed in my entire life. I absolutely adored this. + Angel food cake — Delish but not as good as my butterscotch pudding ^ + Vanilla ice-cream with chocolate sauce — Sounds very simple but this dish had a lot of flavor actually. It comes very nicely presented as well. + Selection of sorbets — Also very well plated and tasty. I am a HUGE fan and will definitely make this a regular spot.

I had the opportunity to visit the Mark for a friends bday and it was cool spot. Definitely on the expensive side and not your every weekend eating spot, but I’d say check it out. The décor of the lobby is pretty swanky w/the black and white, which I loved. Great for some photos. The bar isn’t that spacious, but its cozy. Anyway, they seated our party of 8 and we started the night off. The staff including waiters, bar tenders etc are so personable and attentive. Service was great! Food — I had the kale salad to start off, which I really enjoyed. Had a taste of the crab cakes, which was also delicious. For entrée, I had the organic roasted chicken w/parmigiana. A little too salty for my liking, but overall it was filling. Dessert — we tried the Grand Marnier option they had, which I can’t remember, which was pretty decent. I’d def check the Mark out again in the future.

Two stars because for $ 100/pp+, service should be flawless. Server messed up two(!!) orders — forgot one person’s entrée entirely, then also replaced one appetizer for an incorrect one. Our reservation was for 830, we ended up leaving three hours later because of issues I elaborate on below. First, they forgot one person’s order entirely. The thing that sucked the most was that when they realized that the one order was missing, they came out and asked what they should do — then, instead of comping the dish, they still charged us for the new dish. Next, they held all of the dishes for the whole table while the new order was cooked — we ended up getting our entrée an hour after our apps. The restaurant was half empty by that time. When our bill came, we saw we were still charged for the entrée they screwed up as well as the appetizer they also screwed up. Seriously? That took bad service to another level. Food itself was fine — had crispy sushi(good), angel hair pasta(fine), and chocolate cake(total pass). Will not return.

The Mark is a beautiful space. We sat in the back, where there are a lot of windows and natural light. The front of the restaurant is darker. The bar looks like a fun place to hang around at. Service was excellent. The waitstaff were attentive without being overbearing. We were served bread and butter after being seated. Cocktails were good. The wine list was somewhere between ridiculous and rapacious. It was a challenge to find a bottle of wine under $ 100. We drank a very acceptable $ 80 bottle of Chianti. Appetizers were very good. The steamed shrimp salad, grilled octopus and truffle pizza were very good. Based on other reviews, I expected to be blown away by the truffle pizza, but wasn’t. Many, if not most of the appetizers were north of $ 20. Entrees were pretty good, but impressively priced. Most of our party wound up getting burgers. They were good, but Daniel Boloud has nothing to worry about on the burger front. For $ 30, a burger should be a singular experience or contain a piece of jewelry inside of it. One of our party had simply prepared fish, which he liked. We shared fruit, cookies and coffee for dessert. Overall, beautiful space, excellent service, very good food. Really expensive prices, even for Manhattan. Hotel restaurants always tend to be more expensive than usual. I guess that JG’s cachet is worth something too. I couldn’t help feeling like I overpaid for the evening. Telepan is my barometer for a good meal in NYC. If a restaurant is more expensive than Telepan, it has to be better. This wasn’t. The Mark is a very good restaurant, but not a very good value.

Very disappointed. Five of us — 3 courses each — one winner dish — Dover Sole($ 72). Not up to par for JG. Like a Orlando outpost of NY restaurants — always disappoints — however The Mark is 20 blocks from the Flagship restaurant at the Trump Intl. Next day Sunday Brunch at Petrossian’s — 3 course prix fix — magnificent on every level.

Okay, honestly, Jean-Georges is a 3-star Michelin chef. That in it itself is self-explanatory. With that said, FOOD: truffles pizza– PHENOMENAL. I have never ever such a tiny pizza cost so much that tasted so good. to be honest, his pizza is what keeps me coming back. it’s one of a kind. angel hair spaghetti– yes, and it is worth getting if anyone at your party is a picky eater and just wants something normal. glamburger– another yes yes yes! it’s not just a regular hamburger. you have to try it to know what I mean. SERVICE: that is kind of a hit or a miss. sometimes they have nice waiters, sometimes not so much. But i’m more about the food and willing to endure some bad quality service for pretty decent food. AMBIANCE: It’s at the Mark Hotel. I mean, the ambiance has to be one of a kind. But pictures can only do so much justice. It’s really beautiful inside. that said, you can imagine it is not a place you can go with sweat pants on if you want to fit in. RESERVATIONS: yes and highly recommended. DESSERT: I have literally tried every dessert on the menu and every one of them is good. you really can’t go wrong with his dessert. Whenever I have friends in NYC, i always recommend them to come to this restaurant and I’ve never had anyone disappointed. You can feel the quality in the ingredients he uses. I can tell there is no MSG and he uses minimal oil even in his pizzas. This man knows how to cook. Even if he opens up a restaurant in the shadiest part of NYC, I will still go, paying the same price, knowing that this is the exact quality of food I will be getting.

With such a beautiful space and the backing of Jean George, the experience fell flat for all of us. We came for a small and private bridal celebration and I was looking forward to the special treat. Walking into the Mark Hotel I had a lot of expectation. Part of the dining hall was underneath a sunlight roof top. The décor was classic and grand. We had a round table for 10 at the corner of the room. They didn’t make a fuss about some of us arriving late. Be wary of the price tag — $ 20++ for brunch items. About $ 17 for cocktails. It’s standard New York hotel prices. I asked our server what’s in the pimms and she said, ‘it’s a cocktail’. Ok, I could see it was listed under cocktail. I wanted to try something new so I got it. It was good. On the sweeter side still but less sweet than other options they have(lychee Bellini etc). And then about an hour after we got seated, still no bread and I was getting hungry. I want bread. A server came, gave half of the table bread and walked away. Odd. We had to wave him back to ask for bread for the rest of us. We shared a couple of the pizzas — the mushroom truffle one is good. It’s $ 28. I had the tuna burger. It came just medium rare like I asked. Came alone on a plate with no sides nothing else. Odd. The fries came in a separate basket and was crispy. All the other presentation was very simple, almost too simple like when I cook at home and just have a piece of fish on my plate. They could have added salad or chives or something. Timing was completely off. Some of us got our food and a couple of us had to wait for a while. The shrimp salad did come nicely presented and apparently was good in the flavor department. And then for dessert, definitely go for the soufflé. You don’t have to wait long. Very good. Get it, it’s worth the $ 14. The warm chocolate cake and the pudding were just average. Coffee was weak and getting a refill was impossible. The server actually completely ignored a couple of us when we waved for coffee. For a $ 5 cup of coffee, mind you. I don’t even know if it is free refill. Service was very lacking. One of the worst service I’ve had, even when compared to Chinatown. You could have done so much better. All in all it was $ 75 which is a reasonable price tag but I really felt like I wish I overpaid for the service.
