I was so excited about the new shop. But a guess nothing can be perfect. I had the Kenton soup and a chicken gyro. Now I have had gyros from many places in the city and the best place to me is Kavaros in the village on 7th. The lentil soup was delicious, had the right season perfectly cooked. The gyro left me asking myself«why?». It only had lettuce and tomato, no onions, no cucumbers. Not what I expected. I will go back to give them another try but I think I get better taste from the salad.

Delicious gyros and fries! The bowls and platters are generously portioned. Order the Athena fries, which come with sirracha!

Finally a REALLAMBGYRO(not that stuff from the trucks)! Overflowing with meat & the right amount of lettuce, onion & tomato. Will definitely go back & maybe try other items(sorry, I’m a lot partial to the lamb).

The food here has been consistently great, using quality ingredients. The service has vastly improved over the past couple months that I’ve been coming here. This remains to be my local go-to for fast casual. I typically order the Greek salad with lamb gyro when I decide to be reasonably healthy. This is one of the most delicious salads I’ve had and always fills me up after a workout. When I’m extra hungry I like to go for the three meat platter and you can’t go wrong with either the falafel, gyros, or souvlakis. I was doubtful about the chicken souvlaki at first thinking it would be dry, but amazingly it’s very moist and tender.

Everything is freshly made and delicious. The falafels were tasty and crispy and hot. Just like I love them! Good hummus, friendly service, counter service. Glad we missed the ferry to NJ after all!

First rate gyro shop. Pork gyro as good as it gets, perfect with their lettuce, tomatoes, good sauce, and perfectly grilled pita. Excellent lentil soup. Nice atmosphere. Personable counter lady. A keeper. Not huge seating, so it might get busy

One of the best Gyro sandwiches I’ve ever had. Nice crisp meat and tangy sauce. Hope I’m never back by NYU Medical Center, but if I am, I will definitely re-visit the Gyro Shop!

I absolutely love this gyro place!!! Sometimes I find an excuse not to bring lunch just to come here. I have tried their platters. My favorite is the lamb with greek or Athena fries. The greek fries are topped with feta, as opposed to the Athena are topped with Sriracha sauce. The price $ 11 but you get a lot of food. My next move is to try their salads.

This should be a two star review, but their food is so good. Love their food, hate their delivery. Their beef/lamb gyro meat is so moist and flavorful. Their rice and potatoes and salad are all excellent. I usually get a beef/lamb(traditional) gyro or chicken Souvlaki which is white meat chicken, the only kind I eat. The platter comes with a small salad and your choice of lemon potatoes, rice or fries. It’s a lot of food. What annoys me is they always mess up my order. I ordered delivery on Friday 10/16/2015. Two Pork Gyro platters one with fries and one with rice. I get it, «rice» can sound like«fries.» But the woman read the order back to me and had a thick accent but I know she said«rice.» Otherwise, why didn’t she just say: «two pork gyros, both with fries.» Don’t you dare judge me for calling in my ordering via phone and not Seamless, I was driving. I timed the order to get there shortly after I got home and it did. We opened the bag to find two friggin orders of fries and no rice. This is not the first time they’ve screwed up the order. I also hate the fact they don’t have whole wheat pita. But, I will order from them again, soon. They’re food is really delicious.

Good addition to the area: –Pros: well-seasoned meat, delicious lemon potatoes, fresh salad/dressing, good tahini –Cons: the meat is a little too fatty/oily/crisped for my taste, slightly expensive($ 11 for a typical lunch platter, when you can walk a block down and buy a hefty plate of delicious lamb and rice from the halal cart), and wish they would do something extra to the pita(or offer it)

I love Gyro shop! Have now ordered twice from seamless. We got the chicken platter and the beef platter. I loved the Greek fries substitute. My only concern was that they charge 50 cents in the store for a side of tzatziki sauce vs 3.50 on seamless. Other than that great food and fast delivery.

Lucky and Greg opened a nice little shop next to their diner. It’s a nice change of pace. You order cafeteria style, get served and sit down. I had the lamb/beef gyro and my friend had the chicken gyro. The salad, bread, rice and tzatziki were excellent. The prices are reasonable. Fun place to grab lunch if you are in the mood for Greek food.

I love Gyros usually every opportunity I get I try and get one from any where I can. So this was at a prime location and convenient at the time for me to stop in. A small neat place, inside seating is pretty tight but if you have time go ahead an stay and eat. If not it’s ok grab it and go. Well I didn’t have a gyro but I had the next best thing a salad. It was delicious too, it seemed like the bowl was endless. I had the gyro chop salad without any meat which was still a great choice. This salad was filling if you need that extra protein get the meat it’s like $ 3 extra. The only downside to the salad was the seeded olives :(I hated that I couldn’t just eat them with the salad I had to take time to remove the seed and I love olives.

I really, really wanted to love The Gyro Shop. It has a nice, casual ambience and the staff is super friendly. Not to mention the prices are pretty reasonable and all the food is made to order. I ordered a chicken gyro platter while my boyfriend got the traditional lamb/beef gyro platter. The platter option is great in the sense that it comes with meat, salad, pita, tzatziki, and your choice of side so you can in a sense construct your own gyro from what you order. The salad is crisp and refreshing, the tzatziki is well-executed, and the rice was flavorful. The chicken was better than the lamb/beef but neither was spectacular. Overall, the food is not disappointing by any means but it doesn’t elicit an «oh my gosh this is the best thing ever» reaction. I can definitely say I’ve had better gyro from street vendors. For that alone, I don’t really plan to come back. Bottom line: decent food, good service, nothing special.

Cute little place. Very nicely decorated. If you’re staying they give you your food in an actual plate with utensils. The staff is super friendly and helpful. My first time there and I was in heaven. I had the gyro chicken platter which brought pita bread, rice, and a salad. It was delicious. So good I had to write a review. Definitely will be going there again and recommending to all of my friends.

I am always on the hunt for the perfect gyro, and the day has arrived! It was perfection! I also love the fact I can just get s pita sandwich without the platter and the prices are reasonable. Spinach pie, excellent too! I also love baklava and hit another home run! It’s soft not crumbly, with just the right honey/nuts! Had to go back and I tried the falafel and it was amazing! My husband is at NYU medical center for a few days so I will be there everyday!

Great new neighborhood spot for a fresh gyro or souvlaki sandwich/platter, seasoned fries and spinach pie, among other options. Very new and clean appearance, though I wish they had late night hours! Friendly staff and a good amount of seating as well. Chicken gyro sandwich was juicy and delicious. Spinach pie is a bit small for $ 5.95, but tasted great nonetheless. I hope this place has some staying power!

First review! Whoo hoo! I ordered from here via Seamless over the weekend and wasn’t toooo thrilled with my chicken gyro platter which is like an open face chicken gyro sandwich platter with lemon potatoes, salad and tzatziki.($ 10.45) I didn’t love the lemon potatoes. There were only 2 wedges and it wasn’t soft or strong enough in lemon flavor. I found it a bit dry as well. The salad is fresh and dressed in a nice vinaigrette. The tzatziki sauce came in a small container on the side. For a platter like that, I really would have liked to have more tzatziki because when you’re eating a dish like this, you eat it covered in tzatziki! I also had the Avgolemono Soup(Chicken lemon orzo) for $ 4.95. The cup is large and worth the price. I enjoyed the soup but wasn’t in love. Then last night, I decided to get just the chicken gyro sandwich on it’s own at $ 5.95 and it was delicious! For NYC, this is an amazing price for the size of the sandwich as well as the quality of overall dish based on freshness of ingredients and its flavors. I couldn’t experience this with platter because with a sandwich, you’re getting a bite of pita, chicken, lettuce, tomato and tzatziki with every. bite. That is the best way to eat a chicken gyro! Get it in the form of a sandwich! And the owner gave me an extra side of tzatziki at no charge — yes!!! I hate businesses that try to get every dime and dollar out of you for sauce! Also, the Greek Guac(A perfect blend of tzatziki, Haas guacamole and charred jalapeño peppers) is $ 3.95 and comes with pita bread. There is a nice kick to this spread and because it’s not something you can get elsewhere, I would highly recommend you trying this flavorful combo. I also re-ordered the Avgolemono Soup which I found to be much better the 2nd time. I think it was slightly less creamy than the first which I liked. I felt you could better taste the chicken and lemon flavors when it wasn’t being weighed down by cream. Will definitely be back for the tasty food, great prices and friendly service.
