This lovely open courtyard just recently reopened this past fall, just in time to enjoy a few weeks of pleasant weather. People flocked to the large outdoor space, filling every bench and concrete step surface. Breaks could finally be enjoyed outside instead of cramped break rooms. People had a place to sit and enjoy lunch in a space that most certainly has more seating than the millstein cafeteria. It is a central corridor on this campus, allowing easier travel from CHoNY to milstein or Herbert Irving pavilion without needing to walk down the precarious hill that is 165th or taking the 20 minute jaunt through all of the buildings. You can enter and exit from the street on fort Washington or from the doorways to the right of juju café. I’m excited for spring to come and for us all to be able to enjoy the space again(granted when the snow melts I’m sure I’ll be out there enjoying it with a coat on).

The newly renovated garden at NYP/Columbia Campus is a treasure for the hospital. Nestled in between the old buildings, it secluded enough to allow you time to relax. This place can be stressful, Trust me. To offer a place to unwind, and forget(even for a few minutes) that you are at the busiest hospital in the city, was a brilliant idea. The construction seemed to last an eternity, but it was well worth the wait. Thanks NYP for such a nice spot to relax in the sun(or snow)!!!
