I had been eyeing Cinnamon Snail for quite some time before finally taking the plunge. Apparently it took opening a stand in the highly-anticipated Pennsy for me to really commit. Thank god I did — vegan eateries are doing a better and better job nowadays at helping carnivores to forget that they are, in fact, not eating meat — and Cinnamon Snail is no exception. This place is the real deal. Like most highly anticipated places, the Cinnamon Snail line was absurd when I came here. But the Pennsy had only open a few days prior, so I wasn’t in the least bit surprised. Thankfully, initial hype always settles(though it hasn’t seemed to with fellow vegan powerhouse By Chloe). Since my first visit here, it’s become a lot more manageable. Everyone working here is incredibly friendly and accommodating. Prime example: my order took — probably in anyone’s opinion — too long to come out(thankfully I wasn’t in a rush). Eventually, someone called my named and apologize profusely for the wait, adding: «I’m still getting used to not working in a truck!». This was a couple of weeks ago, though, so I’m guessing most if not all kinks have been ironed out by now. The order: maple mustard tempeh over red quinoa pilaf(in place of the red spelt bread). A lovely touch on the menu here is being able to modify any order to be prepared over greens and quinoa as an alternative to bread, and I took advantage of this. The tempeh also comes with marinated kale, tomatoes and onion — pretty standard. The tempeh is the obvious star. Remember the part when I said Cinnamon Snail could make you question your meat-eating tendencies? Okay, you’re right, I didn’t exactly say that. But I said something like it. Because this tempeh is absolutely fantastic — and filling! And while this is blatantly obvious, I’ll do my due diligence and mention that this place is HEALTHY as well as tasty. What could be better? My single complaint here is the bang for your buck ratio I often talk about. My maple mustard tempeh box was $ 13. While one could argue that this is a typical midtown lunch price — at least for health food — I wasn’t impressed with the amount of food I received. Upon opening the box, my face fell as I saw its contents. They were beautiful, yes, but there could’ve been more of every single component, the exception being the tempeh. Maybe I’m just so conditioned as an American living in supersized culture, but it simply didn’t feel like enough food for the price. And I consider myself a good portion-er.That won’t keep me from coming here, though — too convenient and too tasty.

The flight part of my autonomic nervous system kicks in whenever someone says” Vegan baked goods”. I always think of leaden pastries heavy enough to sink the cow that should be chewing on them. So I stayed away from Cinnamon Snail despite all the positive Unilocal reviews. Happily, my resolve weakened after a stop in at the Pennsy after lunch. Kudos to the Cinnamon Snail for offering vegan options that don’t taste like what I think desiccated camel turds would be like. The strawberry doughnut I tasted had a beautiful striped glaze, and had a strong berry flavor. The dough part was chewier and a little drier than I would have liked, though I wonder if it was because I stopped in one late afternoon. Still, the glaze should have protected the yeast doughnut from any drying out for a while. Kudos for Cinnamon Snail for prevailing and changing public opinion about baked goods that have no dairy at all. I liked the doughnut enough to want to try their baked goods again and even their meals. Note: when I went it had opened a few days at the Pennsy. Staff here seemed very slow despite the shorter line post the lunch hour rush. They need to up the pace or I would have had agita had I come for lunch on a time frame.

I like the Cinnamon Snail, and am very happy that it has found a home in the Pennsy! The doughnuts are my favorite, honestly. I’m happy to see the longest lines in the place are for the Snail! I had the new creation — Beast Burger Mode, I think — on a pretzel bun. Yum! Only bad thing was that some employee — line chef — was having a meltdown/tantrum, snarling at her co-workers that day. scary. The line was long. I guess it gets stressful in the kitchen

Had the Beastmode Burger Deluxe which was really good. I felt that the Mac & Cheese in the Burger could have had more flavor. The pattie is looser than I expected, but brought a lot of flavor w/it to the table. Can’t wait to try all the other menu items and I’m glad the Snail is back in a permanent location!

I finally got to try the cinnamon snail and not have to track its location down now that they have a location inside the Pennsy. I never knew they made burgers and etc but i came here for something sweet, a donut. i got the chocolate crumb donut and it wasn’t so bad for $ 2. it was a little messy but the texture was airy and fluffy. maybe next time i’ll stop by to grab more sweets and share it with my corworkers. i also got a root beer and they had virgil’s root beer. so good for $ 3!

Loved their truck — as did many others, so they slickly tried to reopen that 800±review listing since it was so strong — but the thai donut was weak during opening weak at their first B&M presence.

Where to begin? I want to leave ten stars because I want them to succeed. I was so happy learning they were getting a brick and mortar. I am sad to report that My tempeh sandwhich had plastic shred like material in it. So upset. Besides the fact that the $ 10 sandwhich is Half the size and not the same. Adam if you are reading this please forgive me but I have to be honest. I know it is not easy operating a business but you will Lose all your loyal customers. They also had no donuts at 6:30. Very disappointing.

So happy that the Snail’s awesome vegan food is now available at a fixed, central location, in New York City, seven days a week. My only fear is that my clothes won’t fit for much longer. The Pennsy is a well-kept(at least so far) food court, with lavatories upstairs. Seating and bathrooms, of course, are uncertain when buying from a food truck, so there are benefits beyond availability. There will be outdoor seating when the weather is warm enough to make it appetizing.

Wow this place was spectacular. The staff was very friendly and helpful on my first visit there. I got the bacon mac n cheese burger and oh lord the heavens opened and I heard a chorus of «Hallelujah». That burger was one of the best vegan eats I’ve ever had. Topped with chipotle sauce and a pretzel bun, I could not have asked for a better way to devour the holy awesomeness that was this burger. I was planning on only eating half but ended up shamelessly eating the whole thing. I also picked up a peanut butter cookie dough donut to go(they didn’t have the s’mores one which bummed me out). There was waaaayyyyy too much ganache, but other than that it was another amazing bite. I can’t wait to come back here and try everything else on their menu.

Not impressed at all. The cinnamon snail bun was hard and without a trace of cinnamon. The cheesecake donut was a tad bit better but also super stale. The other pastries made famous by Unilocalers were nowhere to be found. Lesson of the day is that there is nothing good at this place after 10pm. They should close early if their pastries are too old to sell. Maybe the truck was better but their intact location was a bust for us.

Do you know how much I love you? You probably don’t. But whatever, I love you as long as you keep your quality. Location: I am so glad they have a real place for me to go regularly.. Although the penny is really located at a sketchy place, it never will be dismissed by me. I went straight to find cinnamon snail and ordered all bakeries and left. That’s my life for now. Okay, no more bs. Basically, order everything and grab a seat and enjoy. Bakeries: although I only shot a picture of three things — apple donut, lemon Meyer twister, and cinnamon roll. I finished others without even taking any picture. All I want to see is that they are as godass as they were. Quality never drops Price: forget about price! It’s so hard to find a place that is vegan and delicious. Overall: 6 stars. Shut up and eat with me.

ALLHAILTHESNAIL. Thank god they now have a permanent location in the Pennsy, with really awesome hours as well. Open ’til 11(although, don’t go that late because I did and they were out of donuts and went home and wept. Except I returned the next morning out of spite and also because I’m addicted to donuts.) I got the Mexican hot chocolate cruller and the peanut butter cookie dough donut. Both were amazing, though I prefer the latter. The icing on the outside was hardened, but gave way to a puffy, dense-but-not-too-dense center. The cookie dough garnish really sold me. The cruller was really awesome if you love the cinnamon and chocolate combo, which I definitely do. The line was long, but went quickly. Donuts run ~$ 3 each, which is more than fair considering the quality of products that they use(«mostly organic» according to the menu). I also tried the Korean BBQ Seitan, which was SOGOOD. Got it over a bed of greens because I was trying to repent after scarfing down the donuts.

Finally! For so long, I didn’t think I’d have the chance to eat the legendary Cinnamon Snail’s vegan fare. No joke — my Unilocal bookmark note has remained«I’ll never get to try this food truck :(«for over a year and a half. But now, with the recent opening of their first brick and mortar location within the brand new Penn Plaza food hall, the Pennsy, I’m no longer relegated to simply dreaming about their offerings. I stopped by last Friday night around 6pm, as I don’t work in the area, nor did I want to battle the lunch break crowd for my meal. Nevertheless, the Pennsy was packed with customers, especially those waiting in line for the Cinnamon Snail! Worried that we wouldn’t find a table, my boyfriend and I decided that one of us would grab a seat, while the other stood in line to order. There were only about ten people in front of us, but it still took a half an hour to get to the register. We were there for dinner, but based on surrounding conversation, the majority of the other customers intended to purchase desserts, largely the donuts(which, I’ll admit, look amazing). Next time, I’m definitely buying a pastry or two. After much deliberation, I settled on one of the«open face joints,» the Korean Barbecue Seitan($ 9.95), mostly because I’m a fan of spicy food. All of the ingredients, including arugula and kimchi, were laid on top of a huge grilled tortilla and covered in chili butter and Sriracha sauce. Besides being struck by the massive portion, the first thing I noticed was that the seitan was bursting with flavor. The spiciness was strong enough to pack a punch, but not so overpowering that I couldn’t taste the other elements of the dish. Depending on how much you eat, the Korean Barbecue Seitan could easily serve as two meals, even though I managed to devour the entire thing in one sitting during my visit. A word of caution: this open face sandwich is super messy and difficult to pull apart, so make sure you stock up on napkins. My boyfriend chose the Beastmode Burger Deluxe($ 10.95), which also comprised seitan as the primary ingredient, in conjunction with ancho chile(dried poblano pepper). It’s cooked in maple bourbon barbecue sauce and topped with jalapeño mac n cheese, arugula, smoked chili coconut bacon, and chipotle mayonnaise. After taking a bite, my boyfriend tasted something strange and took it out of his mouth; I’m relieved he did, because it was a hard piece of plastic! This was a bit troubling, but considering that the rest of his burger was fine and no one else here seems to have encountered a similar issue, I suspect it was an unfortunate fluke. We’re willing to forgive and return to the Cinnamon Snail in the near future to sample other items on the menu, particularly their namesake pastry!

Hear ye, hear ye… The honorable Cinnamon Snail has arrived(at The Pennsy). When I heard the food truck was shutting down, my life spiraled into a pit of thanksgiving Sandoo-less and hazelnut bourbon cheesecake brownie-less despair. There were dark months ahead of me, then we were graced with a divine beacon of hope as they released more concrete plans for a brick and mortar location. Little by little, light trickled back into the universe and the heavens sang once again for the likes of the maple mustard tempeh sandwich and beastmode burger. For those living under a shell, Cinnamon Snail used to slither it’s way across NYC in an awesome little food truck and gave us the best pastries and sandwiches I’ve ever seen. I was hooked. You will be too. Opening up in the brand new Pennsy food enclosure provides some excellent benefits — such as seating, table service, and options within the urban space to grab coffee, libations or other goodies. I have their cookbook, so I can attempt imitation at home but nothing, friends, I say again nothing compares to the original Cinnamon Snail delicacies being pumped out of here at speeds you wouldn’t think a snail capable. With good reason. Give it a try, and thank me later.

Was a big fan of the truck over the years and very excited about Penssy. Went last week and was very disappointed. The quality of the food has declined significantly. Smaller sandwiches, less quality ingredients and higher prices. Adam, if this is your brick and mortar business model, you won’t be in it for long. Will give it one more try.

This place is absolutely killer. We went to the location in Pennsy market and we had the lemongrass 5 spice seitan. Let’s be real, I like to eat a lot — and the portion size was AMAZING for a $ 10 meal near penn station. Curried cashews were such a great compliment to the flavorful seitan. I’m not even vegan, and I’ll TOTALLY be back here. I have to admit, the donuts weren’t the best donuts I’ve had, but the fact that they are vegan is quite impressive. Check it out !
