Don Pepi is definitely one of the best slice places I’ve been to in New York. I’m frankly quite surprised it doesn’t have a 4+ star rating. Been going here for many years now and the slices are as delectable as the first time I had one. Not easy for a little pizza place to maintain that kind of quality for over 8 years. I once even ran into another New Yorker outside of the city and when asked by a third person about the best place to get a slice in the city — we both independently named Don Pepi! It’s literally the only reason I would ever go anywhere near the dump we know as Penn Station. I think it hurts them a little that the location is actually inside the station so the only way you’d discover it was if you had to commute in and out of there. Goes without saying that its miles ahead of any other culinary experience within the station. The guys that work there are super nice too. The only bad thing about the place is the location but can’t really hold that against them. The pizza more than makes up for it though.

So, I’ve had tons of NYC pizza in my day growing up here and all, but Don Pepi has to be one of my favorite places of all time. Every time I get a slice from here I finish it from top to bottom(which is rare for me, especially when it comes to the crust). Also, it’s conveniently located in Penn Station so it’s great to get when waiting for your train. It’s a quick place to eat, and the seating isn’t the best — but it is available. They don’t really seem to come around and clean the tables and chairs 100% between customers. If you order a slice they give it to you on a paper plate — so either you eat at one of their tables or you walk with it, but that seems dangerous. I always get a cheese slice then sprinkle some of their oregano/italian seasoning on top for extra flavor. To me, they put the perfect amount of sauce and cheese — and they warm it up to perfection. The crust is also cooked the perfect amount and very edible — and the entire slice has the perfect balance of flavor and consistency. I will be back many more times for sure, for as long as they are open.

Food: 3.5÷5.0 Service: 2.5÷5.0 Value: 4.0÷5.0 Décor: 2.5÷5.0 Overall: 3.5÷5.0 Surprisingly good pizza at a very reasonable price($ 3.75 for a huge pepperoni slice) inside Penn Station located at the northeast corner of the Amtrak rotunda. Completely the opposite of some of the unscrupulous hot dog vendors around Penn. I grab a slice every other time I come through the station.

This is the best pizza in all of New York and it is in Penn Station!!! No ambience but the pizza is amazing. I can’t walk past without getting a slice. They sell so much that every slice is fresh and delicious. Staff is very nice. I have heard other customers tell them that they love their pizza and look forward to having it when passing thru the station. Wonder if they are connected to Don Pepe’s in other locations. Crispy crust with right amount of sauce and cheese. Don’t miss it!

This is the worst pizza place I’ve tried in NYC. My slice was served lukewarm, which was unappetizing. It was also bland, hardly any flavor, with sauce tasting like it came straight from a can. The girl at the register was extremely rude, even yelling at me when I asked about the building employee discount. Her attitude put me off this place even more than my below average pizza slice. I won’t return, and I’m sorry I even gave them my money in the first place. If you’re in Penn Station, it’s worth the trip down to the LIRR level for Rose Pizza, a much tastier, cleaner, less expensive pizzeria.

Don Pepi’s got a great cheese slice! Always fresh with a great crunch to every bite. Its a perfect combo of crust, sauce and cheese. What about the specialty slices? Theyre ok, nothing to write home about. The staff at Don Pepi’s is metiocre, not the friendliest. I’ve actually seen them charge a guy 75 cents for a box to put the extra slice he couldnt eat in. He did buy two slices, c’mon guys. Pricing is fair. Decent combo pricing too. In all if you want a good slice go for the regular slice with a Coke, you wont regret it. You may find it to be one of the best regular slices on Manhattan Island!

The reason this gets five stars: — cheese slice = cheap and simple and delicious — nothing fancy — it’s under ground in one of the busiest train stations — no fuss no muss — thin and foldable and easy to chow — grab a beer in a bag with a slice and be on your way Of course this isn’t a destination if you weren’t passing through but for what it is I’m freaking psyched about it every time I’m traveling through Penn which is only once or twice a year these days. On my way to Philly on Amtrak now and kinda wish I grabbed another slice! Note: plain cheese slice is where it’s at.

I came here to get a slice of pizza while I was waiting for my amtrak train. I thought it would be decent based on the Unilocal reviews. However, I was disappointed on multiple levels. The place was dirty and smelled terrible; the pizza served was lukewarm and if you ask them to warm it up they ignore you; and the worst part is the service is the worst I have ever seen. They are extremely rude and unhelpful. I know New York is not known for being warm and friendly, but these people took it to a whole other level. And the worst part is that it wasn’t just one person there, it was the entire staff. If I didn’t know better I might even say that they are racist.

I came here to grab a quick slice while waiting for my train to Jersey and I was pleasantly surprised with the pizza here. It had a nice thin crust and had just the right amount of grease. The overall flavor wasn’t anything out of this world, but I’ll definitely take it for a cheap slice inside a train station. It’s definitely worth a stop here if you want a quick meal!

For a pizzeria in NY, pretty terrible. It’s like Sbarro quality, or worse. Don’t bother.

My first foray into real New York pizza and I was not disappointed. Recommended to me by a colleague this pizza was cheap, the crust was crisp, the cheese was plentiful, and the sauce was not overly sweet. It’s a no frills place and we got our pizza in about two minutes. After growing up in California, I can honestly say that pizza here is on a completely different level. Thanks for my first slice Don Pepe! Cheers

Okay you’re probably saying huh? What? Good pizza right inside penn station? Well, «cheyeahuh» it is. Don’t go looking for fancy designer slices either. Just plain slice with a fountain soda. You’ll feel like a kid again. Well broken in ovens give the crust a nice browning and simple sauce/cheese party on the dance floor does the Macarena in your mouth. That’s it. Plain goodness

I’m writing this review because this pizza is a must eat whenever I’m in penn station. If you are in penn station please stop for a slice. I always get the plain pizza even though there are so many others that look excellent to try– but they all look amazing. 5 major thumbs up

Believe it or not, Don Pepi’s has some of the best pizza in New York. Whenever I have some time to kill in Penn Station, I always stop in for a slice and they never disappoint. Try the White Pizza if you’re in the mood for something different.

If you’re subjected to getting pizza in Penn Station, this is by far the best choice. Chicken rolls are smaller than your usual, but definitely tasty and consistently fresh. White pizza is also delicious, possibly one of the best white slices I’ve had. Prices aren’t cheap, but you’re in Manhattan. in Penn Station. In my book, as far as NYC pizza goes, it’s up there

Starving in Penn station? I was expecting glorified cardboard with ketchup for $ 10 but this place delivered a huge slice of legit pizza for around $ 4, which is less than the cost of most awful fast food meals. I’ll be back here if I’m back in Penn Station. Yep it’s crowded but I was lucky to get a table so I was able to sit and inhale my slice.

I keep trying to find a NYC pizza with equal parts crispy-crunchy crust, tomato sauce that’s not too sweet and the right amount of cheese. And with rare exception, my quest hasn’t been as successful as the pizza at Don Pepe’s. For starters, they don’t even boast their name. All you’ll see is a lit magenta, «Pizza» sign. Most every time, I have just a slice of plain pizza, but this time for comparison’s sake I also had a slice of white pizza. It had the same great crust and was very good in favor… but the old-fashioned plain still holds the top spot for me.

Yum, my favorite pizza secret spot. I take the NJ Transit to get into NY from Trenton so I’m always in Penn Station. This pizza spot is great for a quick slice to or from the train station. The seating is pretty packed most of the time but it’s not a problem if you eat on the run. The sausage or plain slice is my usual. Pretty large slice for a decent price. They accept credit cards and there’s no minimum.

Oh Don Pepe how many 9pm pepperoni slices of yours have sabotaged my diet? To many to count. Great Pizza, Fountain Diet Coke, Charming Men Behind the Counter Who Tell Me I“m Pretty and No Credit Card Minimum. I will always love you Don Pepe, don’t change a thing.
